My family and I are repeat Kia customers. We have purchased and leased several Kia vehicles over the years, and this purchase of our new Kia Telluride makes our 4th Kia. We had recently leased another Kia in December, but unfortunately, due to some changes in our family and lifestyle, that vehicle was no longer serving our needs. I first went back to the dealership where we had previously purchased our Kia. They gave me the numbers, but I didn't really feel like the salesperson was interested in trying to earn the sale or help me find a better option. I also visited another Kia dealership that, to my understanding, is owned by the same ownership group. I explained exactly what I was trying to accomplish, but the salesperson didn't seem very interested in helping. He didn't even attempt to get the keys for the vehicles I wanted to look at. Van Nuys Kia was actually very helpful and went above and beyond trying to make something work for me. I would still recommend them based on the customer service I received. Ultimately, however, Covina Kia was more proactive and was able to check every box for me. I submitted an inquiry to Covina Kia on a Sunday night, and the very next day Helmer Mejia called me. I explained exactly what I wanted in a Telluride, the pricing I was trying to achieve, what I had been offered elsewhere, and the situation with my current lease. Helmer got to work and had the deal done that same day. The entire purchase process was extremely easy and smooth. I basically submitted my application, provided the information for my lease, showed up, and signed the paperwork. Helmer handled everything else. What really stood out to me was how Covina Kia treated my family like loyal, repeat customers even though this was actually our first purchase from their dealership. We have had great experiences with Kia Financial over the years, especially with their rates and rebates, and this experience continued that. When we arrived and saw our new 2027 Telluride X-Line Prestige already prepared for us with the VIP loyalty tag, that was the perfect finishing touch. I waited around with nobody there to help or even acknowledge me. Why schedule and confirm an appointment if you already know you won't have room? Nobody contacted me beforehand to cancel or reschedule. I made the trip, waited around, and was simply turned away. This was a complete waste of my time and showed zero respect for a customer's schedule. If you can't handle a basic lease return appointment, don't offer and confirm the appointment in the first place. DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE. Seriously, save yourself the time and frustration. We first came in on Saturday to take a test-drive. Although very much interested, we wanted to explore a few different cars before making such a big purchase. We returned on Sunday, and it was extremely busy. We asked for Leo, and I believe Tony was the representative who initially sat us down. He asked why we had chosen the vehicle we were interested in and then asked us to wait. Unfortunately, we waited about 45 minutes, and no one came back to check on us or provide an update. A little disappointing. Once Leo took over, everything changed. From that point on, the process was smooth, efficient, and the wait was practically nonexistent. I purchased a Telluride in mid-August and while i love the vehicle, the experience was far less from ideal. After spending three hours in the process before signing anything i was exhausted. When the salesman Julian, who was a decent guy mostly, showed me one of two Tellurides in the color I wanted, i noticed that a sticker on the window indicated $10,290.00 in extras which increased the cost of the car 20% over MSRP. I told him I didn't want a car with extras added on. He looked me in the eye and said "Don't worry about it, we will figure it out". Nothing more was said and I figured it was worked out. When I went to sign (after 3 hours) I told Sara that I didn't want anything extra, like the warranties. She said, "sure no problem". Well that didn't happen another 6K. I did not receive any paperwork that day, and only discovered 16K in additional un-wanted costs until I logged into the credit union and say my loan balance at a much higher number than i I expected. With help from Sara, I am in the process of cancelling the warranties. However, my multiple emails to Julian, Alejandro and Martin Perez have been ignored. I did not receive my full paperwork until 2 weeks later as Sara did not send to my correct email address. Bottom line, I should have not trusted the sales guy, and I should have walked away until they found me the car without the extras. In an effort to compromise, i offered to split the 10K difference with them... again nothing by way of a response. I won't be buying any vehicle from Covina Kia and advise anyone to be very careful. read more

Michael Connelly is a super service advisor. The techs however leave a lot to be desired. Took my Optima for an electrical problem, after a month it still was not done. I had to leave to Kentucky for a month. I returned, the vehicle was ready. When I got home I noticed my DRL and Fog lights were disconnected and the tech left all the bad wiring in the engine bay. I also notived that the front end had sustained some damage ( a two inch crack on the bumber under the passenger headlight. Again I return to get the latest issue repaired. Came to Kia Covina on a Saturday late morning around 11am and our first experience off the bat was unpleasant because the lot was so full of cars and not enough customer parking spots. Ended up finding street parking and walked over to find it very busy inside with not really a structure on how to be helped. My family has owned various cars from different brands, today this is the 3rd vehicle we've purchased from Kia and specifically at this dealership. We've had a good experience with this location over the years. We've worked with Randy before and this recent purchase we had the pleasure of doing business with him and Estela. We were looking for a specific SUV from '26, and the initial car we looked at online was perfect. However, it would turn out this one was not at this dealership. Understandably, we get a trade with another dealership would cause a mark-up, so we were ready for the alternatives of the same SUV offered at this lot. They were fair in providing the same vehicle but with minor differences and at similar reasonable offer. As sales, of course they will offer additional information on add ons, but they respected our decision in not having interests with these additions as we never use them. When we closed the deal we moved on to Carlos for finance to finish up the paperwork. Everything is done on pad now so it can be unclear what the contracts are. When we finished signing and got home we noticed an error on the printed contract, an add-on we didn't wanted. We were able to contact the team and work with Carlos virtually to have the mistake corrected quickly, and they resubmitted the paperwork again online for completion. They were sympathetic to our issue and helped resolved quickly. This is why I appreciate the team here at this dealership, and I believe it just requires patience and courtesy from both sides. Just had a visit here at Kia to address the warranty on my grandmother car battery- it's dead. Despite the fact I removed the battery and brought it in, we were told due to "company" policy we would have to jump her car, drive it in, drop it off, and wait. AAA confirmed the battery was dead with a voltmeter. Why is it a work around cannot be in place particularly for elderly individuals - she is 79. Now, she has to call AAA for a jump, hope it holds, drive the car to the dealer and wait for something that could be accomplished in a matter of minutes at Costco, autozone, heck even Walmart. Mike didn't to be a smartass and say it's not "his" policy or "his" company full well knowing he was using a rhetoric to be smart and get rid of me. I work a clinical position. I have advanced training so yes I'm going to be firm. The policy is stupid and Mike's customer service is lacking. Maybe he didn't want to get into a totem pole of a verbal altercation, he shouldn't be such a dismissive, sarcastic asshole. The thing that really get me is my grandmother knew who he was and was happy to see him working the desk. The asshole couldn't have cared less. Rest assured I will be following up with corporate and the appropriate management. I do not recommend this dealership - full stop. And the tone he used to tell my grandmother what she had to do in order to get this battery replaced was rather condescending. It floors this guy is the face of service at this dealership. Pathetic. Imagine if this poor woman did not have AAA or the support to jump the car. I'm hard pressed to believe there is no alternate protocol in place to support customers, especially those with limited means and who are more elderly. Again, it's pathetic. Corporate policy or not. This guy cares more about accessing a measly $200 from corporate than ensuring a loyal customer - she has had this car 15+ years and elects to have it serviced here each and every time. Again it's pathetic. I would have been immediately coached at my work if I was as uncaring, condescending, and inept as this guy. In my due diligence I also asked for a copy of that policy, he refused/said he couldn't give it me. I asked twice. Why is it a shop cannot be transparent about policies? When I took auto shop my instructor always drove home transparency about pricing and service. Did he not want to exposed for his ineptitude? Or did he not want a critical eye especially one that has experience in torts and contract law? read more
