Chicken is seasoned well and it's very moist, even the whit meat. The shredded brisket was also moist and seasoned well. First of all this place is very nice and clean. The service is horrible. While placing my order I was interrupted by someone I assume was the manager I did not say excuse me just a moment please. Let me go back. Upon entering the restaurant I was asked to come to the counter when we did we were asked to wait because they were taking someone else's order. So we started over again. The folks were dirty I got four different for all of them had food residue on them I Benchley in the asking for plasticware. So happy to have one of these in forney. The chicken is great and good for you! They have some pretty good sides too. Its one of the few places where you can order a healthy meal and get it fast. The manager and employees are always nice too I normally order the half chicken but my girl friend got the enchiladas and inhad a taste of them. I was so surprised at how great they where. We just moved to town, and decided to give Cowboy Chicken a try. This was our first visit, and unfortunately it will be our last. We arrived on a semi-busy evening. We didn't wait in line very long before we placed our order. We were given a number and sat down to wait for our food. We watched everyone else get their food, there were two larger groups that came in after us and they got their food first. There was only two of us in our party, and we literally waited an hour. For a salad, and a half chicken with two sides. I can't rate the food because we gave up. We went up back to the counter and got our money back. The manager offered a free meal for next time, but the whole experience was pretty terrible, we won't be giving Cowboy Chicken a try. I'm not sure if they were short staffed or it was just poor planning, but they need to get it together. What a waste of a Friday evening. We've been big fans of Cowboy chicken for years. We used to live near another location and frequented it often. This location in Forney is the worst. While the employees are friendly the wait for food is always extremely long even when the dining room is empty. We've tried ordering ahead only to get there and they misplaced or order. Today we tried the drive through. Two cars ahead of us and we sat there for 20 minutes and still had not given our order so we left. It's rotisserie chicken and sides that are made in bulk there shouldn't be the long wait times. read more

UPDATE 1/4/17 Went back tonight. Ordered a side of green beans along with a meal and a salad. The green beans were not included. I called and asked if I can get them next time I'm in. I was told yes, but kind of a bummer! More items are scribbled off of the menu this time.... Review 1: A couple weeks back, on a Sunday, I planned to have friends for Sunday lunch. We all love Cowboy Chicken, so we decided to order instead of cooking. I called at 11:30 to place a pickup order and was told they would not be opening until noon. Very weird, but ok- I call right at noon to place delivery order and get put on hold for 12 minutes, call back, get put on hold again, call back and finally at 12:38 place my order. We are told 45 minutes for delivery, so we go to pick up. We wait 10 minutes, I kid you not and are then told that some of the items we ordered have been discontinued. What?! So I order replacement items as we are trying to feed 8 people, but the worker acts irritates that I want to add to the order. Another 15 minutes before we are able to leave and they left dressing for the Large salad out of the bag. It's 1:30 by this point. Wow. I went back yesterday and items are scribbled out or covered with paper on the drive through menu. No more grilled chicken either. Not sure what's going on at Cowboy Chicken, but not sure I'll be back. Might give one more try. read more

I have came and ordered about 8 salads in the past 4 months? Or so. The first couple times they have forgotten my dressing. This is drive thru. Great concept but the place always falls short of bringing it all the way. Here are a few examples.... Forgetting items when delivering. Sending unsweetened tea when ordering the delicious watermelon or peach tea they offer. (Seasonal) Sending unsweetened tea after speaking to manager and you pick it up and verify with employee handing you the tea.... Will not accept deliveries due to not having enough staff... (I called to find out it was a staff issue. That was after I spent several times thinking there was a computer issue.) I am certain that issue has not been fixed. Last but not least... Photos attached! RAW AND I DO MEAN RAW PEACH COBBLER. On a good note, best green enchiladas you can find! I tried this place for the first time today. As you enter the building you go up to the counter and order your food, then get your drinks and sit down. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with two sides. ENCHILADAS These are chicken enchiladas and they don't skimp on the chicken! Inside were large pieces of juicy white meat. The sauce itself makes it for me. It's a creamy, green tomatillo sauce with hints of citrus. Oh, and the chopped cilantro on top was a nice touch. I'd definitely order these again. SIDES The macaroni and cheese was great. I prefer mac and cheese that isn't too "soupy" and this was just right. It looks like it was finished off in an oven pan because there were areas with delicious caramelized cheese. I also got the twice-baked potatoes that were just okay for me. Just seemed a little plain. OVERALL, I enjoyed eating here and am glad to see it as a new addition to Forney. The service was friendly, speedy, and the building was clean. read more

My first visit here was not the best experience. The wait was long and there were not many people in the place. A friend and I went around dinner. She got the enchiladas and I got the half chicken with two sides. After waiting ten minutes for the plate to come out, I had to send my plate back because the green beans were burnt. They didn't bring our food out together. My friend got hers 5 minutes before me. She wanted to wait on me but I insisted for her to start.The chicken was okay nothing to brag about. I got carryout from this location, so I can't speak of ambience or anything. But, based in the food, I'll definitely be eating there again. I had the chicken enchiladas with a side of black beans and creamed spinach. The enchiladas were awesome. It had like a sour cream/tomatillo kind of sauce with a little kick to it. They were delicious. The portion size of everything was great. The sides of creamed spinach and black beans were also delicious. The whole dinner was like $8.00 and it was definitely worth the money. I had planned to use another local restaurant until they dropped the ball and left me scrambling to provide several people for a luncheon. Visited the Forney location yesterday. The drive thru was not operational; however there was not a sign stating that. I pulled up to the window waited about 5 minutes in the drive thru to be instructed to park and go in to order. Parking was very limited, but I parked went in and ordered. This whole process took about 15 minutes. The food we received was edible, but not good. I will not be returning to this location. There are better choices in the area. read more

Cowboy Chicken is my new go-to when I don't feel like cooking! The service was quick, the workers friendly and attentive, and the prices affordable. We ordered the #1 - whole chicken with 2 sides (black eyed peas & twice baked taters) and 4 rolls. Chicken was juicy, sides were full of flavor, and the rolls were soft and sweet. With 2 drinks, our total was less than $25 and we had leftovers. I'm excited to try the other items on their menu! read more

If I could I'd give this place no stars. I have serious food allergies and called ahead to see if I could eat here. Normally when I call to find out about what is in seasonings and sauces, the kitchen staff is more than willing to accommodate me so I can have an enjoyable experience at the restaurant without getting sick. But when I called, the man I spoke to on the phone was rude and told me he couldn't divulge what was in the seasoning because it is a "proprietary blend", despite me having food allergies. Needless to say, Cowboys needs to rethink their policies and take into consideration people like me who NEED to know whats in the food on a medical basis.
