I've really enjoyed my experience at Cowshed Spa. Cowshed Spa is located in the SoHo House which is both a hotel and member-based club but you do not have to be a member to take advantage of the services at the spa. I've been twice for a speedy pedicure and have been very happy with both trips. The spa has a trendy, yet cozy vibe with muted wood, white accents and comfortable furniture and they have about 8 chairs available at a time. The technicians are always friendly and polite and will adjust to your preferences. They aren't overly talkative if you aren't up for conversation. It can be a bit confusing when you first arrive during your first appointment but staff is pretty helpful when you ask for direction. They offer complimentary tea and coffee or you can get Prosecco or other cocktails for an additional fee. Time slots for services can fill up rather quickly so it's best to schedule in advance especially if you are wanting to go with another person. Their is a lounge and dining area on the main floor of the SoHo house which is a great spot to grab some food or a drink before or after the spa (however, I've had mixed experiences doing this). SoHo house also offers valet parking which can be incredibly helpful since there isn't a lot of available street parking in the area (most spots are reserved for valet parking for restaurants in the area). I loved my ultimate pedicure with Lourdes! I felt very pampered. I especially liked the choice of essential oils for the scalp massage. Also, pro tip, when it says complimentary coffee, it's amazing coffee - I got a cappuccino that was delicious and clearly made by hand. And it came with a lovely little biscuit. I would have preferred more shoulder massage and less scalp massage, so I'll know for next time to request that. Foot massage was nice although not the best I've ever had. I just got out of my cowshed facial with Ashley. Booking online for a last minute appointment was so easy! The spa is not very clearly designated but the front staff at the Soho house will point you to the stairs. Ashley and I had a little chat before hand where we went over what products I use and she is very knowledgeable about the products that I was using. The whole facial was very relaxing. Ashley is definitely good at extractions, I didn't feel a thing! I can't wait to come back to see Ashley for my next facial! Tip: they have specials on Weds! They also offer wine, but I though 10:15 might be a little early. read more

Require credit card to hold your reservation (which is fine) however in the extreme case of going to the emergency room and being unable to make the appointment (even though you give them a courtesy call a few hours in advance) your card will still be charged the full amount. Made 2 pedi appointments for myself and my fiancé on Sunday. Called the next day within 24 hours and attempted to cancel. Juan (Self proclaimed manager) tells me that I cannot cancel and does not offer to reschedule but tells me that I will be charged the full amount (even though it was half price day) for both pedis even though I have given ample time for them to accommodate another guest. When I tried to question hm further he cut me off and told me it was likely he would fill the two spots and that I would not be charged. Later that evening, I see that I have been charged the FULL amount incorrectly. Very poor customer service. If he is indeed a manager, he needs to be removed and re-trained in customer service skills. I will never utilize this salon again. This makes me reconsider my soho membership. read more

My friend and I went to Cowshed in April to celebrate my birthday, and check it out for a possible pre-wedding bridesmaid mani/pedi location. The aesthetics are cool, and the staff were all great, but that's about where the positive comments end. First of all, the chairs are super uncomfortable. Maybe it's just because I'm tall, but, it wasn't relaxing at all. I had to hold my legs up onto the stool the entire time because the chair isn't raised. It's cool-looking, but incredibly uncomfortable. Secondly, neither my mani nor pedi lasted more than 2 days. I've never had a pedi last for so few days. And, to make matters worse, it was $100 for the mani/pedi. That is more than double what I normally pay at any other salon. I have absolutely no idea why they charge so much, but could maybe understand if it lasted more than 2 days. Also, they were already booked for a Friday morning in October when I checked at the end of April. It didn't matter because there is no way I'd go back there. I wish I could give a better review because the staff, including the woman who did my mani/pedi were very nice and we had great conversation. I just can't give more than 2 stars because of how few days it lasted, how expensive it was, and how uncomfortable the chairs are. read more

I had the 90 minute facial and while a bit pricey, it was worth the money! Very relaxing! The space is smoothing and comfy (robes are so soft). My best friend had just moved to the city, and I was determined to make her feel like a queen on her birthday. I reached out to Cowshed to help me schedule an amazing surprise massage for her, and the reception staff went above and beyond to help me make this happen. I let my BFF know to just arrive, tell them her name, and everything would be covered. As she arrived, the staff warmly greeted her as if she were a VIP- with happy birthday wishes, a glass of prosecco, and even gave her a letter I had written for her to enjoy before her appointment. She called me after to let me know how impressed and loved she felt. She received the 60 minute "moody massage" and said it was AMAZING. She said the décor is super trendy, upscale, and clean, and that the staff made the experience top notch. I wish I knew the names of the lovely ladies who help me pull this off, but just know how much I appreciate the "can-do" attitude, and attention to detail. I went for a dry brush, body scrub, massage combo with Amado and it was great! Amado promptly gathered me from the lounge in the women's dressing room and as soon as we entered the massage room, I immediately felt very comfortable with Amado and I knew I would be in good hands. He was very thorough and throughout the dry brush/scrub he constantly asked if I felt he missed any areas and if I was satisfied. After the scrub, I showered and again, Amado collected me for the massage. I asked for a firm swedish and I got exactly that. Amado is very strong and he got all of my knots out of my upper back. You know a massage is good when you want to do nothing afterwards but fall asleep. read more

Not only is she warm, attentive and personable, she has been extremely helpful for my skin in the short time I've known her. She recommends products based on my skin needs and her facials are highly customized. She takes her time and makes the experience not only comfortable but worth the price. I took a friend to get us manicures for the beginning of her bachelorette party. The service was great; very relaxing with the pillows, sugar scrub and hot towels, however 4 days later my manicure was literally chipping off in full pieces. For the price you pay for a manicure you at least expect it to last a week. I was very disappointed with that! My own manicures last longer than this one did. UPDATE: After talking to some friends, they convinced me to contact the salon to let them know I thought the service was great, but the manicure was nearly gone before a week. They offered to bring me back in for a complimentary re-do. The offer alone was enough to make me happy. Great customer service! Second time around, the service was still great, and my nails look great. This time I just got the full nail painted (my previous visit was a french tip). So far, no chipping. Maybe the top coat of the french tip was weird and just easily lifts and peels off. Anyway, I am changing my star rating from 3 stars to 5 for their exceptional service and for making sure I was taken care of. read more

All I have to say is Wow. This place is a little hidden gem, being in the basement. It's clean and quaint, the changing rooms are nicely set up. My boyfriend got a last minute haircut and beard trim. He received a complimentary glass of Scotch, during his service. I was blown away. It was the best haircut and beard trim he has ever had. I was surprised when the friendly front desk girls made his appointment and told me, his Barber would actually be a female. Who knew, this girl was very detailed and talented. He showed her a picture of what he wanted, and she matched it. She used a straight razor on his face and neck line. She gave him a relaxing rinse, and showed him different ways to style his hair. I would have gotten a service myself, but the staff was booked. DALILA, the Barber was very personable. We chatted while she cut his hair. Her name fits her profession, Samson and Delilah. The pedicure was fine, not like wow-fine, but it was good- fine. Not sure it is worth an 85 dollar splurge. However it is possible that my experience was tainted by what I perceived as subtle prejudice. Maybe the staff that works there is not used to providing service to a woman of color (Latina). When I asked about using the restroom I was routed to a restroom on the 3rd floor when, as in all other spas I've been to, there was a bathroom on that level. This made no sense to me and when I asked the person whether there was a bathroom on that floor she said it was reserved for clients (!!!) . I told her I was a client as I was getting a pedicure and she apologized but boy was that a turn off for me. It really tainted my experience there. Pehaps if you fit the mold of there usual client (i.e., caucasian), you will have the pedicure and experience of your life. If you're brown, maybe walk in wearing a sign that says you can afford an $85 pedicure and then you will receive a higher standard of service. Hah. read more

I have extremely sensitive/acne prone skin and she always remembers my specific needs and has helped improve the quality of my skin. I loved this Spa! My mom and I got the Salt Scrubs - they were so rejuvenating!! My skin was soft for a week. Everybody was nice and friendly. They even gave my mom a glass of prosecco for her birthday! Expensive, but definitely worth it as a treat every once in a while. read more

The salon is absolutely gorgeous and relaxing. I went in for a manicure and it was a great place to kick off a girl's weekend. Wonderful customer service. My nail artist was so friendly and easy to talk to! However, I'd echo other comments that the polish doesn't really hold up, and there's not a great selection of colors. I've frequented natural nail salons before and not had this issue. It was definitely disappointing when my $50 manicure chipped within 48 hours. I hope the Cowshed considers switching the type of polish they carry, given the comments. read more

The 5 stars is for the pedicure. Oh my god.... Whatever the most expensive one is, that's the one you get. They literally whip out POWER TOOLS and shave your foot off until it feels like an actual baby's. Like, the nail tech puts a mask on because your dead foot skin is flying everywhere. It's amazing and has changed me. I'm so over pedicures where I soak my foot in water and someone kinda rubs an old sponge over my heel. Goodbye. Never again. So I decided to try them for a pedicure...and that was a mistake. The pedicure was $65 (includes tip). Two days after the pedicure several nails chipped. The pedicure itself was enjoyable but it looked terrible just a couple days later, that I went to a different salon the next weekend to have it redone. I get pedicures all the time and that never happens. They have their own polish, which doesn't seem to be good quality, so I would bring your own. I wish I had the same experience with the pedicure that I did with the facial, but I definitely won't be back for a pedi. read more

I decided to treat myself to a "nicer" mani and pedi rather then go to my neighborhood standby. Well $100+ later I am disappointed. The spa itself is very cute inside. A rustic and homey decor. The staff were all very pleasant and friendly. The chairs are not the most comfortable for pedicures-docking a star there. I got my nails done on Friday afternoon--Monday morning I realize my nail polish has already chipped on my toes--not okay or acceptable to me- star docked there.
