I've only been here for massages - and I loved every experience I've had here. Also, I really like the environment: it's clean, comfortable, modern, and cozy all at once. They treat you well - I was even served green tea with a full set on a tray. The products you find at the spa are lovely (shower gels, hand washes, lotions, and other skin care items). I really enjoyed my services here! I had the cow shed ultimate mani and cow shed ultimate pedi. The salon is quiet, and has soft music playing in the background. For these procedures, aromatherapy is used to help you relax. They give you an arm pillow for relaxing and it also holds up the book, magazine, or phone you're reading/using. I enjoyed the scalp massage. Stas was my manicurist and he was very friendly, informative, patient. I was super satisfied with the service overall. Only down side is parking is difficult and it's kind of hard to find Cow Shed since it is in the basement of the Soho House. Regardless, I would highly recommend this place! read more

An awesome experience for Valentine's Day. I got an amazing Vitamin C facial by Ashley. My skin feels smooth, clear and bright. A great treat to rehydrate during the winter. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming. The staff is professional and extremely helpful. It's nice that they don't push all the products like most spas in hopes of getting you to spend more. And as a benefit to hotel guests, there is an elevator in the spa so you don't have to go through the lobby after your appointment to get back to your room. They do sell Skinceuticals and Cowshed products. You will want to buy even though they don't push the products. read more

Booked a massage and wanted to dig the place, but.... - Frigid water in the shower; - Constantly trying to get me to buy their products over and over again; - Minimal amenities (no mouthwash, deodorant, sauna or stream) in the lockerroom) - Asked four times if I was a member of Soho House (they should be able to know this) - Nobody asked about how I enjoyed my service (three people at check-out desk) My massage was five-star as was the therapist but that was about it. My daughter was excited to celebrate her birthday and made two pedi appointments for us in March for April 24! One hour before the appointment she received a call that a technician "called in sick" (it was a beautiful day in Chicago) and we wouldn't be able to get two pedicures. They offered us a massage and a pedi but that's not what we wanted, we cancelled. It would have been good customer service if they had compensated her for the disappointment since she was looking forward to the event at Cowshed. read more

Everyone in our group was extremely happy with the services and the products used. Great ambiance. Booked three massages for a special occasion. One of the massage therapists called in sick and although we were disappointed they graciously offered us a complimentary facial in place of the 3rd massage to hold our appointments. This is my favorite spa in the city. I immediately feel relaxed when I walk in the door and the services are always amazing. The best part, however, is the customer service. I have always been warmly greeted, never felt rushed or had to wait around for my service to begin and most importantly, never pressured to buy products after my session. Last week, I had a facial scheduled that I unfortunately was going to miss due to the snow/ice storm turning my 1 hour drive home into a 3.5 hour drive home. Despite the strict 24 hour cancellation policy, Cowshed allowed me to cancel my appointment free of charge due to the dire circumstances. I know other spas that would have still charged me in full or at minimum charged a rebooking fee. The atmosphere, excellent staff and customer service will keep me coming back to Cowshed for more! read more

Great experience here overall. A little bit of a mix up in the beginning with my service starting late, but they did go over in time to make up for it and I was given a free body oil for the confusion, so I appreciated that! One piece of feedback I will say is that I did the evening primrose mask and was really looking forward to the massage aspect as I have never treated myself to one before. I decided to go with this service not only for the body scrub/hydrating and facial aspect ( which was all great) and the fact that it was the highest cost service, but I was really looking forward to a full body massage which was not the case. I only received a neck and shoulder massage, which was good, but I was disappointed that it was not full body as the description said. Overall good experience and would recommend/go back, but would definitely recommend double checking exactly what each of the services offer before spending all that money. read more

Been going to Bobby for my haircuts for a while (before he was here at Cowshed) and this new spot is bomb. Simple atmosphere, great smelling barbershop. Super casual atmosphere. And the best part is that you don't need to be a member to reserve a haircut appointment, which is great because I am most certainly not a member of Soho House... read more

Best facial and massage you will ever have! I've never been to a spa where my skin looked noticeably better after, Mercedes is amazing. Typically at hotel based spas you will have a nice relaxing treatment but don't see or feel much of a difference. Cowshed has the best of both worlds, relaxation and actual results! Worth it, schedule in advance because they are normally booked, even on a nice summer day in Chicago, which is unheard of because we have to soak in every moment of good weather here. I received a manicure this Saturday at Cowshed Spa. The people working there are helpful and very nice, I would rate the employees a 5. My issue is with the poor quality polish Cowshed is having their manicurists use. On Saturday afternoon I selected a Cheeky brand polish, what Cowshed sells, by Sunday morning three of my nails were totally chipped. I called and asked for a polish changed, which they set up for me with no hesitation for Sunday afternoon. Thinking it was maybe the Cheeky brand, I picked an Essie color when I went back. I didn't touch a thing for at least an hour and then the first thing I picked up the polish smudged. For the premium Cowshed charges for a manicure I'd expect them to keep better inventory of their polishes to ensure none of them are too old/poor quality. I will not be going back or recommending anyone go there for a manicure . read more

The spa is very cute, I will give it that. I booked myself the ultimate pedicure and it was a good service, though I found the chairs uncomfortable, and the bar up a half flight of stairs was happening at 5 pm on a Saturday, so it was pretty loud and therefore it didn't really have that relaxing spa feel. Not to mention there are 5 or 6 little TVs in the room, so again, not a spa atmosphere, more of just a salon feel, not a big deal but just sayin'. When I was having my pedicure, I was informed that my husband had called and booked me for a massage after my pedicure as a present (it was my birthday) - pretty sweet, right? The massage was awesome, no complaints, I wish I could remember the masseuse's name, because she was great. The massage treatment room was super quiet, couldn't hear the bar upstairs anymore. Then, when I was all done, I went to check out, and was told, everything had been taken care of, including gratuities. I had given my credit card number to hold my pedicure appointment, so I assumed they meant my card was charged for the pedicure and my husband's card was charged for the massage. But I was thinking about the tip and I said, what about of my pedicure, the woman said yes, all taken care of. Ok, I was in a bit of a post-massage fog to ask more, but I figured maybe they had a no tip policy. I notice 2 days later, that I was not charged anything. So I asked my husband to check his credit card online, and sure enough, he was charged for both services. That's not what he had asked for when he called. No big deal, We are married after all, but if it had been a friend or really anyone besides my spouse, that would be kind of a big mistake (and for some married couples, perhaps, even this would be a problem). When someone calls to give someone else a gift, they expect to only get charged for what they are offering. Also, we both noticed that no gratuities were charged at all, despite that their website says nothing about a no-tip policy. I'm not sure why they told me it was taken care of, but maybe those charges just haven't shown up yet? Even so, I'm not sure why I wouldn't be given the ability to decide how much to tip. I hope I didn't stiff anyone! But I don't trust them to get it right if I can back and try to clear it up with a credit card over the phone. read more
