We have been long time customers of Cox Internet. My wife and I and two daughters were looking to upgrade our phones and searching for the best value and overall service. Not on our radar and for consideration was Cox Mobile as an option until I found, while shopping at a nearby grocery store, our Rancho San Diego Cox branch and decided to park and walk in. When I entered the store, I was greeted with smiles from ear to ear by several representatives behind the computers and had the pleasure to meet one young lady who was being trained by the manager, Ricardo. Ricardo's experience and expertise was very obvious from the beginning of our conversation and without a hard sales attitude, I felt very confident that Cox Mobile was going to be our family choice for our new phones and new mobile service. Ricardo went out of his way to meet myself and one of my daughters on Saturday morning to get our phones up and operational and then again the following Sunday, even on his day off, to meet my wife and my other daughter to get their phones set up and connected. Ricardo made us feel appreciated as customers and he was patient and informative throughout the process. I'm excited to find that Cox has a storefront in our neighborhood and very grateful to know that the Cox organization looks to place quality and professional management and staff at their branches. So Frikken Upset. We are 40+ year Cox customers, but I so feel like Cox customer service keeps getting worse as the drive for sales takes over. Yesterday I received an unsolicited call from Sales Rep Juan Pablo at this "New" Rancho San Diego Cox store and told of a discounted offer available. I explicitly & clearly noted I might stop in to discuss the details of this offer, but was not interested in any change/upgrade/discount be made to my account at this time. * Note tho - I clearly did not authorize any change be made to my acct/service on this call at any time! There was no way the sales rep could have misunderstood because I made this very clear as I was getting concerned about his zeal to make a sale on this call. Well, guess what - They changed my plan that day!!! Today calling back, in an effort to be made whole on this unauthorized change, the store manager here HUNG UP ON ME when I attempted to stop him (I did not yell or cuss, but I did attempt to interrupt and stop him, mid sales pitch) from explaining why this change was a good thing. He hung up on me as I tried to stop his sales explanation. I didn't want to that explanation - But Of Course. Again, the issue was, I never authorized any change to my account. But they made the change and likely got an additional sale added to their tally for this day. Contacted Cox corporate by phone and was politely helped with my issue with an apology included. Looked at me & my husband crazy cause we wanted to change my number lol . They didn't even know or what to say they had to ask the manager in the back if he knew if they can change a phone number or not . He didn't know what to do either then try to tell us we needed to get a new phone to do that lol . Mind you I changed my number few times with a different phone company so all that's telling me is cox is hiring NON qualified people. Was told by online call to take my box in to the local store and swap it for a new one, the manager tried to upsell me and told me my system was old even though one of our boxes is only a month old. He tried to force me to get all new boxes at a monthly upcharge. They must work on commission. read more

We had the displeasure of being assisted by Sami who has terrible customer service and sales skills. We had to come in to swap out equipment for a new account a very simple task but he took the liberty of looking through the account to see what he could upsell on an elderly ladies account when we were very clear on what we were there for. I had to reiterate the reason for the visit since he clearly didn't hear the first time and that currently not interested in his sales pitch so he got noticeably irritated and verbally hostile, very unprofessional and unacceptable behavior especially towards a woman. What should have been a simple task was an uncomfortable interaction due to his hostile attitude and fragile ego, customer service requires courtesy and respect which is clearly lacking. I was coming in for a normal routine pickup but they refused to give me my router and told me I had to change my internet plan and tried to force a upsell with a mobile line I didn't want when I already purchased my internet plan online and just came to pickup equipment for installation. forced me to continue the process online and waste my time talking to support for them to ship the equipment instead of being able to pick it up. read more

If u are looking for an ease of mind stress free way to get things done with your carrier, coming in and talking to Sami was the best decision!!! The customer service reps over the phone were the worst. Not only was he understanding of my frustration but actually helped fixed my problem & made sure I was satisfied before leaving. Came by yesterday to review my bill and see about some internet changes for my account. I had a representative help me figure out some options. Ultimately it was the best financial decision to do a swap of my current modem to see if it can help increase my connectivity at home. I had already cancelled my services with COX and came to drop off equipment. Store manager asks for last 4 of my social. Obviously locates my account. Then asks for my pin. I don't remember it and didn't know I needed it to return the equipment. He refused the equipment and begins arguing that I set up the necessary PIN and kept reiterating that. I drove all the way over here to turn my equipment in and am very disappointed and unsettled. There was a total lack of customer service. COX Corporate has confirmed (Gloria) said usually you can drop equipment in a provided box and the last 4 of the SS was sufficient. Instead of providing customer service the "Store Manager" was dismissive, rude and uncaring. According to COX Corporate he was wrong about protocol and was setting a very poor example for 2 trainees. read more

Cox as a corporation is deeply unprofessional. My parents internet crashed so we call costumer service for help. They sold my elderly parents on an internet upgrade without fixing the issue of the spotty internet. So now they are getting charged more for the same bad internet. We have called cox technicians to come to their place. The first ones charged them for a new modem that didn't work and left without making sure that my parents could connect to the internet (the new modem required a different connection method). When we called them back they floated the idea of us having to pay for another new modem if this one is faulty. I shut that down. I will not be paying again for you to finish the job I already paid you to do. Two home visits and countless phone calls later their internet is still terrible. I will be finding another provider. It's ok to admit you can't solve a problem. It is deeply unethical to hoodwink an elderly couple into up charges because they don't know any better. You are just a cog in the machine. Does the incentive to up charge justify hurting your neighbors? How does your soul contend with taking money from faceless randoms so you can make pennies while your masters make millions? read more
