They stood me up twice! I waited one week for the first available appointment then rearranged my entire schedule to meet with the tech at my home and not once but twice they did not show up. I called Cox and they told me he came to my house and this was simply not true. I was here waiting for them before, during and after the appointment time. My CC which was set for autopay was compromised a day before payment. When I called my CC company, they immediately disabled the card and said they would ship it out the replacement asap. The next day, cox tried the process the card and couldn't. I have a 5 year autopay/pay on time history. I was charged a $25 "returned payment fee". That is BS. The banks do not charge returned payment fees for processing a disabled CC. Even after speaking with customer service, they refused to waive the fee. What an utterly moronic policy. Pathetic! is the only word to describe these guys. I have 4 cable boxes mounted in a rack serving a Savant system. Yesterday, one of the boxes failed. It just sits at the boot screen forever. After repeatedly cycling the power nothing changed. So, simple right? Just call Cox and have them ship me a replacement. OMG!! First the guy has to try to fix it remotely. So I explain to him that if a power cycle doesn't fix it he will not be able to fix it remotely. Nonetheless, 40 minutes later, he arrives at the same conclusion. THE BOX IS DEFECTIVE. Now comes the fun part. Can you ship me a replacement? 2 minutes later, my chat session just times out! Now I get another tech who starts the entire process all over again. Verify the account, give the serial number again. Guess what? He wants to try to fix it remotely. After another 20 minutes he arrives at the same conclusion. "Can you ship me a replacement"? No, we will need a technician to come out and if he determines that the box is defective, he will replace it. Now, remember that the 4 boxes are rack mounted, no way will he remove the old one and remount the new one. Even if he would, I wouldn't trust him. My Savant system is generally beyond the experience of most of the cable guys. So I come up with a brilliant solution! Start a news session with a different tech. I simply ask to return the box, no mention of it being defective. NO PROBLEM, they will send an empty shipping box immediately. Then, different tech again. "I would like to add an additional cable box to my system. NO PROBLEM, they will ship a new box UPS priority immediately. WOW! just WOW! If they figure out what that cost them in tech time, shipping etc., they would be staggered. Me? I am totally not surprised. read more

This contour 2 is garbage, cheap equipment that's extremely glitchy. The box is very slow, constantly crashes, very cheap quality. Even the remotes are starting to fail. I'm looking at sling tv and over the air with something like Vudu added. I only watch maybe 10 channels so I'm getting out. This is hands down the biggest ripoff bill I pay every month. The absolute worst. Constant outages and incompetent technicians. Never installed my hardwire correctly, took 3 hours and ended up with router too short of cable hanging in my closet. Increased my monthly rate from 54.99 to $83 with NO notice stating my "promotional period had expired" 2 years after I signed up. I looked at my original contract no mention of promotional period in it! Called today to their "loyalty line" and got the rudest condescending a*hole telling me the best he could do is offer a one year promotional ridiculously slow plan for $73...um no I want to cancel. Then he went on a rant about how they are running an business and he can't just walk into McDonald's and say he want a cheeseburger for whatever price he wants. WTF dude control yourself ...just be polite and cancel the plan. I declined your shit offer now let's move on. I said I didn't want to speak to him anymore, that he was an embarrassment to customer service and to please get me someone else. He said he hoped I knew this call was being recorded. LOL um so?!? I'm not the one on the clock moron... so he gets his "manager" who was just as condescending and I say I'm canceling and will just go to Att or Google Fiber they have better service and cost and he goes "um miss are you sure they offer ATT in your area?". The worst cable tv service imaginable!!!! The service people have no knowledge of how to correct cable Tv issues. I have endured pixilation so bad for months that I cannot enjoy watching Tv anymore. I just listen to the shows and try not to look at it very much . I have had service people out who corrected the problem . It improved for a very short time. I have called and they tried to correct the issue by adding power strength to the cable. It improved for a few days. The last service person told me he did not know how to rum a new cable line to my tv because I live in a condo. Absolutely the worst! Don't even deserve 1 star. Every few months they raise their fees. The most recent one is from $159 to $189. Is that insane? That's internet, TV, and phone with limited local calls. Then, they offered me $25 discount??? Back in February it was $150. Then, it went up to $159 for March, April, and May. Then, June bill shows another increase so total bill now is $189. I'm going from $150 to $189 ($39 increase from February to June 2015) and then they offered me $25 discount. What a joke! It's not like they are any good. Every few weeks I have to reset my modem by calling them, not only resetting my modem at home. It's a pain. Their customer service is the absolute worst! Horrible service. After 2 years my modem started going bad. After 5 modems and having 2 technicians out finally got problem fixed. Tier 2 technician told me they just recycle modems turned in as long as they power up. So if it has problems it just becomes some else's problem. I asked for new one and they said the don't give out new ones. I finally demanded it after having to return to the store after 30 minutes with the last broken modem they gave me. Dishonest company! I signed up for a bundle in Dec 2017. They said I had a contract for $89.99 per month (internet, cable, home phone). The bills came out $111 due to "fees and surcharges." I growled, but I am used to this from Verizon. This month those fees jumped 30% overnight, so my bill is not $117. I called Cox and their customer service people said they have no control over surcharges which are a tax that goes to the government. This is an outright lie. The government *allows* Cox to charge its customers a fee to recover costs they pay to local content providers. Cox sets the amount and Cox pockets the money. Cox has been a mediocre internet service. Unfortunately, as I wrap my 2 years with them, I have to say it their customer service is not on par with other companies. I work in the relationship business, as a salesperson and manager at a high-end retailer for five years. I felt it appropriate to recognize what I believe to be disappointing, bad service by a Cox representative who I will not name. I called him to cancel the service. At one point of the conversation, I gave him a date to cancel the service. He said he can pro-rate the service, I told him to keep the date. He pushed back and reminded me, "Aren't you moving later on?" To suggest I should pro-rate my service. I explained that I had roommates. We finally scheduled a date to cancel service. Moments later, I hop onto the computer to find my service was canceled. Why? I'm not quite sure. I called back, Darcy R., was the most helpful associate I've come across Cox. Our internet signal had difficulty supporting our web browsing and programs....sports, stocks, news. It was very slow loading and would drop the program after we were online for 5 minutes. I put in a service call and the tech. person came out on Tuesday 11/6/2018. He found the main Cox box in the ground across from our driveway was not emitting a signal 2 of 3 times. He said that needed to be fixed by Cox.....he would put in a ticket and they service people would be out in 2 or 3 days. So today Friday the 9th I called to find out when they would be coming out .....they could not tell me. I was on the phone for 45 minutes and was switched to three departments......they couldn't tell me the schedule......it is run by a third party and no one could connect me with someone who knew. They also wouldn't compensate me for the terrible internet service we have had the last few months,,,,,they only gave us a $7/day credit since the day I called which was the 11/6. I really wanted to use Cox which almost have a monopoly in Irvine. I signed up for their $89.99 promotion for Internet and TV and I was told it includes home security. I thought: nice freebie. The bill came out to be more than $160! The sales dude needed his commission and forced the home security into my contract and loaded me up with optional stuff without my permission. I called to changed it back to the plan I wanted. I found out there were a bunch of optional services that they initially said was required. Lies and deceit after more lies and deceits. A few staff were helpful and explained about the optional services and tried to correct the issues, but the problems run deep into the corporate culture that they were unable to help. Some other staff even hinted it was some thing I agreed to and it was my fault. They should really check their recordings. After over a month of over 10 (yes, ten!) calls and frustration, I escalated it to management and terminated the service. Changed to AT & T for Internet ($50) and YouTube TV ($40). No contract. Saved a lot of money and most importantly, not paying for anything based on lies and poor business practices. Cut the cord early and couldn't be happier. read more

I talked with customer 'care' on Saturday and complained about the monthly charges. In Nov 2014 I was paying @ $180/month and now with expiring promotions my next bill in May 2015 will be $245/month. Unexperienced subcontractors that don't know what they're doing. They have to replace the filter every year in the neighbors yard Cox box. I ordered a new remote control for my TV and the Customer service rep assured me it would arrive the next day - not only did it NOT arrive, she never even placed the order. I just spent nearly 45 minutes with yet another customer service rep on the phone, simply trying to order a remote. Why would I be put on hold 5 times to order a darn remote! So incompetent! Also, my internet service with them sucks. Always some issue with either being too slow or completely down. I HATE paying this place nearly $200 each month with this kind of service. In Aliso Viejo, i pay $400/mo, boxes always fail, 2 phone lines that are DIGITAL although i wanted land but they don't have anymore, rebooting all the time although i have top of the line modem,etc. The cable to have a decent channels you have to go to Premier .. i really don't know who thought on the layout of these packages ... is terrible and I am losing $$ every month ... my husband does not want Direct TV, what other company can someone recommend me???? i just can't stand COX one more day. read more
