Extremely unethical billing practises. Every month for the last three months I have seen an increase in the internet bill for absolutely no reason. First it was 62 then 64 then 74 then 84. Does the US not have a law against such practises against such corrupt companies. Since there is no other faster internet option in Irvine and I dont have the time or money to sue them, I am to pay the whims of whatever the billing department thinks on that month while preparing my billing statement. I previously had Cox internet, shut it off, and turned it back on. I had a router/modem from my previous Cox account. When the technician came to reconnect service, he said my router wasn't working,so he sold me a new one for $129. However, I decided to cancel the service because I believed my router worked perfectly fine. When I called to cancel; miraculously, tech support was able to get my previous router working. The point is, if you have a router and a Cox technician says it's broke, don't go for the sales job of purchasing a new one from Cox...Get on the phone with customer loyalty and tell them they need to get your old router working. On Thursday, November 18th, 2021, at roughly 1:00 PM PST, one of the Cox drivers smashed into one of our brick pillars in front of our home. If needed, we have the driver's information. For the past 4 months, we've been trying to get Cox to not just accept responsibility, but to fix the damage their driver caused. We've spoken to several Cox employees and they all provide the same answer, "the original claim was filed incorrectly by the previous employee, but I'm resending it. Someone will be in touch". This has gone on for FOUR months and we're not any closer to resolution than we were on November 18th. Though we're not a client of Cox, we're hard working homeowners who take pride in our house and expect Cox to back up their statements (have a contractor come and fix it) and to address the issue. It's great when it works. But be aware that you are on your own when something goes wrong. The customer service is an absolute rubbish. A few months ago our Internet speed went down from 100Mbps to 3Mbps. Yes, three. It took them about 3 weeks to get it fixed. In the process I have been in contact with mediocre customer service reps that are trained to copy/paste boiler plate responses. It doesn't matter whether they've given you an answer or ETA. They'd always ask, "Is there anything else that I can help you with?" so they can end it asap. This time around I had to move my service to a different address. The first rep that I talked to set up the install schedule. A day later I still didn't get any sort of confirmation. I contacted them again. Turns out that the schedule wasn't made at all. So I had to make another request. The rep that I chatted with this time was extremely slow and couldn't get a grip of the issue and task to be done. In the end, the install was scheduled. But wait... I ain't falling for this again. I immediately contacted them again to see if there was an install scheduled. Yes, there was, except that it was scheduled to be done at my OLD ADDRESS!! How can they mix this up?? Come on.. transfer of service to a new address that you were aware that was not in your system yet. Need any more clues on where to send the technician to? Service outages 1 am through 5-6 am daily Service Outages and for the last 3 days straight 100% outages. No WiFi, No internet connection even when your computer is plugged directly into their equipment. Negligent Misrepresentation. It is the law for Companies to paint a true picture to Consumers. Their Panoramic WiFi advertisements state that they provide wal to wall panoramic service throughout your home. There is no WiFi 4.5 feet away from their equipment. Other neighbors recommend joining them in changing service providers to Starlink, Att, Verizon, anything but COX. They know this is causing us extreme problems and should have come to repair by 8:00 today, instead I have to wait for a maybe Thursday appointment. Run don't walk away from COX. read more

Absolutely disgusting company. All my friends and colleagues have similar experiences that they shared and everyone is leaving this service. You cant expect people to stay using your service because you are the only option. Its 2018, there's plenty options out there and sadly apparently everyone of them is better than cox. I am paying 60 dollars to have 8mb internet as opposed to 100 which is my package(and this has been ongoing for more than a month) and you still have the audacity to say you are going to charge extra 70$ fee for the technician, this is unheard of. Also, last time i asked the technician to put the internet in my bedroom instead of living room and he said its gonna also cost an extra 70. Not only that, this garbage service i have is going to be raised in a couple of months. I'd be a "genius" to stay with cox. When you call to complain about your bill, they first run a check on your address so they know all your other options. For a year I had continious issues with cox. Bad service, making me upgrade my internet to stop a problem that they caused. Finally got sick of it and canceled my service. All I got was sorry you left you owe us another $140 for leaving early. Go to Directv or even just watch Netflix. Save yourself the trouble of dealing with their crappy customer service, non existent tech support and failure to keep any promise they give you. I would give a negative star rating if I could. Our main box goes out at least once a quarter, and they are quick to send technicians which then require us to be home during a block of time. Though, they sent a tech recently by the time he arrived the box was surprisingly working. One would think that is good news but I waited at home and they wasted the time and gas of a tech to come out. Also meaning the original assessment was again incorrect. Today we requested a change to our channels and of course that also interrupted the service AGAiN to our main box, leaving my other half on the phone for about an hour now. We also found we were being over charged for an additional box. It never fails, we always have issues with Cox, their support doesn't always seem to do as they've advised, and of course what we pay is not inexpensive. You can read my reviews. I almost NEVER write a bad review but this is 100% legit. Short version of a long story, I purchased the gigablast speed but had to upgrade my modem. I bought a new modem and a mesh system and it became slower. I contacted COX to come out and they scheduled an appointment between 5-7. Same morning I get a text to confirm appointment and I do (of course) and then at 5:30ish, my wife calls to tell me that she got a text that they cancelled our visit. I called them and after they "lost contact" (more like hung up on me) they tried to tell me that the driver knocked at my door and no one answered. Only problem with that LIE is that I have surround cameras around my house and NOBODY showed up. I spoke with the "Loyal" department today and all I got was the usual "I'm so sorry and I can accept your cancellation". I have been with COX over 20 years and this was my first time I ever complained. They suck beyond belief!!! I think they have been the only game for years and now we have options and they are still in denial. They will wake up some day, but it will be too late. DO NOT USE COX PERIOD. read more

This is my first review and it took a lot to get here. I've been a Cox customer for many, many years, for my home and business. One of the packages purchased involves MLB Extra Innings which I've watched for years. When I could not access the channel(s), I contacted Cox and was told that the "season" ended in mid July. It is September 8, 2018 and the regular baseball "season" has not ended. It does end in late September. I was told by the aide and the supervisor that my only option was to repurchase the season. Why I would do so with only less than one month left in the baseball season makes no sense. Worse, Cox changed the terms of MLB Extra Innings. Somewhere along the way I neglected to read the "fine print" which obviously existed. I always enjoyed the "entire" regular baseball season. Thanks to Cox, I'll be making some changes down the road. Worst speeds of all Cable Internets. I had Spectrum back in Anaheim. Now being a customer for a year with Cox Preferred 150mbps, I have not had a day that went past 90mbps. Now with everybody at home, it dropped to 14mbps. Should I pay you according to the speed you provide? In that case, I should be paying $10 a month, 1/10 you're charging me. Total BS. As a customer of Cox it would stand to reason they would want to provide the best possible service. Of course, right? So why do we pay for a service that comes to our homes that requires us, the customer, to be here for them to verify the service is reaching at the very least the box outside our home. They will refuse to check this unless you agree to be home to allow for a technician to enter your home to check the provided service. I know this I no revelation. But why is it not possible to at least verify the signal to the box outside unless we are present. My fault for believing they actually care about their customers or their time. I will say the people who actually work in the Cox store are wonderful. I have zero complaints in that regards. My issue is Cox service in general (once you go home). The frustration this company has caused is insane. I have had cox for 2 MONTHS and we have had successful service for about 3-4 weeks total. I have spoken to more "help lines" and online chats, I am just ready to lose it. I will list the issues I have had since I had Cox cable installed. (warning, long rant ahead). 1. I moved 4 blocks away. I went on the Cox website to transfer my service to our new location. They have a section that you put in your information, and then they send you an email letting you know that "someone" will be getting in touch with me shortly to set up a time for a technician to install our new service. Great. No one contacted me...ever. I submitted the transfer serviced 3 times online. Come to find out they sent out a technician every time I requested it but they forgot to tell me. So the poor guy kept coming to our home when no one was there because no one had any idea he was coming. 2. Because no one contacted me, I decided to call them. Spoke to cox for 45 minutes and the lady was so confused. She sent me to another number who sent me to another number. I went online and did that "chat box" and they told me the reason people were confused was because the home we used to live in...they already set up their new service. So somehow (magically) they were charging us both for the same location. Anyways, the guy online figured it out and fixed their mistake. I told him I would set up our cable box because this whole thing took so long, I needed internet pronto. 3. We decided to just grab the cable box from the Cox store rather than wait 2 weeks for their "soonest technician." We picked up the cable box and connected it to our TV. It wasn't working. It turns out they gave us a default cable box. We had to go return it and get another one.  4. We went about 3 weeks without cable. As an apology, they took off $50 which covered their "installation" fees and the extras when you move. Thanks. (problems continue)  5. We set up automatic deposit online. It asked for our bank account info - which was a little bazaar (in my opinion). Most companies are fine with a debit card. My Husband and I looked for a debit card spot, we couldn't see it. (not that it wasn't there, we just couldn't find it). So we put our bank account info. We copied and pasted everything, and hit GO. We received an email confirmation. Great.  6. 2 weeks later, our internet and cable is turned off. Ughhhhhhhhhhh. I go back to my online chat people (they really are all very sweet, like I said the people are amazing in terms of customer service but it's the actual product that I am just not sure about). They said that my debit card never went through. My Debit card?? I told them I didn't put my debit card, I put in my account number and routing number, like it asked me to do. And I was sent a confirmation email when it was all done. The women then asked me for my debit card info. Lol I wanted to just bang my head. I give her my info and she said everything would start working in about 30 minutes. No big deal, I didn't want to finish my movie anyways. Life goes on, I went to bed.  7. Now, the reason why I am finally writing this review. My cable was shut off again. AGAIN!!!!!!! It's been off for days. So I get myself ready to call them again. I've been chatting with them for about 40 minutes. My cable is now working. For no reason at all, the cable just stopped working. They said something about "tuning"... I don't know. It shut off for no reason.  I just have now words. I have been signed up with Cox for two months and all these issues are just crazy.  You've been warned. ***Update**** 6/20/2018 My cable was shut off again. Someone has to be playing a joke on me. Can a company actually be this incompetent? I set up my debit card for e-pay and I asked the cox employee to please send me a confirmation. She did. Our internet has been shut off not once, twice, but this would be the third time due to my e-pay not being set up. I will try to post a photo of my e-pay confirmation that the lady sent to me and PROMISED me this would not happen again. And I know my card works fine because when I called to get my internet working again, the automated line used my card they have on file to pay for the "past due" account. So the card works fine but they can't seem to figure out how to get their automated payments to work. Thats it. I've reached my max. I am cancelling tomorrow. read more

I have been a cox communication customer for over 25 years. recently I moved to a new place and requested service from cox. They show up with their technician talking about a new service "HOME LIFE" which I never agreed to. Installed the video camera and talked about all the benefits and that it is absolutely free with no charge. I got a bill for $400 charges on the equipment and service. I had to call on three separate occasion and wasted 1 hour each time being passed around from one person to the next promising that they would credit my account. Yesterday morning they disconnected my service and when I called them after being passed around to about 6 different people in order to restore my service they made me pay for the equipment for $270.00 something they said was free. They have the most dishonest employees, they are thieves I will look for other services as I am disgusted by this companies greed and lies. read more

First of all it takes at least 10 minutes going through the menu before you are allowed to talk to a human being. Second, that only happens if you are lucky. I have tried to call them two times for the same problem and after going through the stupid automated system I got hung up on. Brilliant.. Had COMCAST in the Bay Area for many years (terrific!), SPECTRUM in Idaho for 3 years (not quite as good)---but COX, OMG--so horrible I cannot believe they charge for this (even if it were free, I would not want it). Unfortunately, where we live--this is THE ONLY CABLE AVAILABLE. They roped me into a two -year contract when I moved here from Idaho. The DVR's work intermittently, (3 TV's), they want to charge me $75 to send someone out to see why, TV's go to black screen every 30 seconds for 20 seconds at a time quite frequently--WHY, OH WHY are we having to pay for this BS?!
