We were having issues with my parent's phone, so we called tech support. They didn't really seem to want to help, and suggested we go in and upgrade our modem for free, although we didn't think that was the solution. Got to the store, and met Naj who used to work in tech support. She was baffled by the things they had told us, the upgraded modem had a fee associated and explained it didn't seem like the was the problem anyway. She advised us, and even took the time to notate in the account for tech support so they what exactly to do when troubleshooting with us. Turns out it was something on the Cox back end. it was a terrible experience, Nicc was extremely rude for no reason, some needs to talk to him to respect people, I can't believe cox hire a guy like Nicc, I went to return a cox item and told him I need a receipt and he went banana, he said we stopped giving out receipts, I told him equipment gets lost all the time and he said I don't care I really don't care it's not my problem, I told him there is no reason to be that rude because I asked for a receipt, he said that I'm waisting his time and there is no point for me to ask for a receipt. Today, I contacted Cox Communications via live chat with one simple request: to cancel my internet service. We found a provider offering faster speeds at a better price, and we've decided to make the switch. Instead of processing my request, the agent repeatedly stalled by asking intrusive and unnecessary questions: "How many devices do you have?" "What price are you paying?" "What do you use the internet for?" I explained that I had already made my decision and did not wish to answer personal questions. The agent insisted I had to answer them in order to proceed with the cancellation. Then, rather than moving forward, they pivoted to a sales pitch about Cox cell phone plans--something I have absolutely no interest in. At that point, I started making up answers just to get through the process. This is not customer service--it's harassment. Making it intentionally difficult for customers to cancel services is a shady business practice and only serves to drive them away for good. If I had even the slightest thought of returning to Cox in the future, that experience completely erased it. Your company needs to seriously rethink how you treat outgoing customers. You don't win people back by wasting their time, interrogating them, and pushing unrelated services. You just leave a bad taste in their mouth. read more

Customer service is awful, this isn't necessarily a reflection on store associates but the corporate customer service. Long story short I signed up with a promo that guarantees the first month free. I have the printed advertisement. I received a bill for the first month that was supposed to be free. I contacted customer support and the representative basically called me a liar she said and I quote "well I've worked here for 5 yrs so I would know if that was a thing, we've never ever done a promotion like that" mind you I'm literally holding the printed promo with the QR code on it. I'll be the first to admit I don't particularly care for Cox Communications and their business model. I don't get to this store very often anymore because I don't have cable TV or a Cox landline phone. My only Cox product is their grossly overpriced internet service for which I grudgingly pay what I have to for decent internet service because Cox is the only option available to me. That said, this Cox Solutions Store is actually pretty decent. When you enter the store you need to sign in at the kiosk to get put into the queue for service. Waits are generally pretty short so don't wander off and miss hearing them call your name when your turn comes up. Service is always professional, friendly and efficient. Returning or exchanging equipment is pretty quick and easy. After many years without cable TV I decided to subscribe again, the store representatives were able to quickly get together everything I needed including a cable card for my TiVo. I only kept the service a year or so and cancelled it again, just didn't feel I was getting enough for the ever increasing costs. Returning everything was a breeze at Cox Solutions Store. They quickly processed the equipment and correctly adjusted my account. I appreciated that they didn't waste my time and theirs trying to talk me out of cancelling my TV service. I prefer to visit this store in person when I am in need of customer service from Cox since it provides a much better experience for me than the Cox customer service over the phone or online. HORRIBLE SERVICE FROM SALES TO SUPPORT TO INSTALLATION. AVOID AT ALL COSTS -they don't care about their customers. I WILL BE SURE MY VOICE IS HEARD EVEN IF COX IS TRYING TO HIDE IT. Everything I have listed below is recorded & documented with times and #s & I have asked MGMT to listen to the calls so that they can understand how misleading their team is, the false promises provided, & horrendous note taking abilities. No one from Cox has yet to do that. I oversee all of client services for my company & cannot believe that no manager cares to confirm what was informed & promised to their client by their staff members. SAT- I called to have Internet installed at my house in VA Beach-I work remotely & need it ASAP. The earliest appt was TUES from 8-10am. TUES 10am - It rains & floods my road so the technician can't install it bc he'd need different equipment. He understood the immediate need & spoke with his supervisor & confirmed I'd have an appointment on WED between 5-7pm for the installation. I thanked him & asked for them to put in the notes to call me prior to arriving. WED 6:20pm - Still no call from Cox so I call & spoke with a rep that confirmed I do have the appt & they would call me when they were in route. She said to hang tight & they should be there by 7pm. 7pm..no Cox...7:10pm & still no Cox. I call Cox again & the rep I speak with says there are no notes in the system saying I had an appointment tonight; I was flabbergasted & explained what happened the day prior & the convo I had with another rep not even an hour ago who confirmed my appointment. I was transferred to another person who said the same thing; I asked them to listen to the recorded convo bc this makes no sense & how important it was that I have the internet Installed asap because it's preventing me from being able to work. The lady can't help me & I ask to speak with a supervisor. Jason confirms that he doesn't see anything in the system & there's nothing he can do. I explain, AGAIN, everything that has happened. Given the circumstance, he makes arrangements to guarantee that someone will come out THURS between 8-10am & he would call me in the morning as well. THURS 8:30am - No phone call from Cox; I call to check what's going on & to my surprise, I'm told they have no notes in their system & nothing scheduled. I'm speechless & ask to speak with a supervisor. I'm connected to one & she says that she apologizes for the confusion that she doesn't see any notes guaranteeing the appt & that perhaps Jason spoke with someone since dispatch had been closed & worked out an arrangement. To make matters worse -- she can't even confirm that because Jason wasn't scheduled to come in until 11am! The best she can do is put an escalated request to have installation done today, worst case scenario I could have it installed on FRI between 3-5pm. At this point I've wasted at least 8 hours of my time waiting for & being on the phone with Cox trying to sort THEIR mistakes out on my account. I ask her to please put in the notes to call me prior to the technician coming over bc I will need to be down the road at the public library to use the internet for work. She said certainly & that it was added. FRI 3:30pm --I haven't heard from Cox so I call to confirm that things are all set still & that I will be called prior to the technician arriving so that I can ensure I'm home since I'm at the library working. She said yes, they're in the notes & I'd receive a call. 4:44pm I get a phone call from the dispatch center saying that the technician is at my house. Confused, I say, they're at my house? You don't mean they're on their way? Nope. They're at my house. I ask her to please have them wait, that I'm down the street at the public library but can be home in less than 20mins; That I was supposed to be called when the technician was on their way NOT when they arrived. The dispatcher was rude & said no & the notes didn't say that & that they would not wait. I begged her to have him wait; I pull up to my house at 4:53pm -- 9 mins from when I received the call & only a couple mins from when the dispatcher lady ended our conversation. Cox was gone within that 9 minute window. I called Cox immediately but they refused to arrange for someone to come back out. In addition to this, I was informed by MGMT now that I'd be responsible for additional installation fees bc of the distance of my location - why wasn't I informed of this earlier this week? Also, Sales misled us in the pricing of the "freeze" ability & how often it can be done even though I was very explicit. Unfortunately Cox is the only provider around here- I'm looking into getting a hotspot instead. If this is how they treat their brand new customers, then what will happen if I have an emergency or big issue ? I want to ensure that EVERYONE hears what happened to me bc this is horrendous service & not at all how any client should be treated by a service provider they are paying. read more

The staff is always pleasant and friendly. Results are a different story. Customer support always had answers to my questions but they were typically wrong. I have been waiting over 2 weeks for my service to be activated. They had shutdown the line to my apartment due to "noise". Never bothered to fix it. They just waited until I moved in and spent a week with customer support before realizing they needed to fix an issue they knew about months ago. A tech was to come on Saturday. Did not. Another tech on Monday while I was scheduled to work. I asked specifically "do I need to be home", I was told "no, not necessary". The tech called me after leaving my apartment building because I was not home. I contacted customer service to reschedule. It took them 40 minutes to make a new appointment for 3 days later. They ultra nice and horribly incompetent. read more

I was a loyal COX customer for about 20 years. When I terminated the service to switch providers (because it was too expensive), I was confronted with multiple challenges with billing and equipment teams. They are currently trying to bill me for equipment that was turned in two months ago. I was provided a receipt, but once my bill was settled I disposed of the old bills and receipts. Now, they have sent the account to collections. Billing and the equipment teams do not discuss between themselves, and now I am forced with fixing their errors. Before you read, here is a quick note on COX: I am not a fan of their services. The on demand is run off of the same computer that Matthew Broderick used in Wargames "The WOPR" and the MS DOS text that is on the menu screams of Siberian technology at its oldest. Seriously, just buy the menu off of other providers so it will actually look like it is from this decade let alone this century. I am on my last month of service and am going with "another carrier." I am working on keeping a clear mind while I give you an idea of the store and not the service. Now enough about Cox Services and on to the review of the Solutions Store itself: "The Good" - As you enter you will see a computerized sign in screen and if they are not busy a person will greet you and help you in the "How Tos". - The staff are great, when I went in last month to pay the bills Brad and Bob went out of their way to not only explain some interesting charges but actually listen to what is going on as opposed to just hitting computer keyboards behind a desk. - The staff were friendly and I would like to hope that all staff at all Solutions Stores are equally staffed. What I suspect though is that since the spot is approximately two blocks away from the COX corporate headquarters they may have the best of the best working here. However it washes out, the staff are friendly and sincere. - They have a fully stocked supply of converters and other equipment that are ready to go should you need to replace a broken converter or start service. - They have a Big Screen in the back right of the store in an alcove that has cartoons playing to occupy the munchkins that are brought along on the strip. "The Meh" - There is computer self pay center located in the back right of the store... but it is in a closet. Now, points for innovative space usage, but good luck finding it if you do not know it is already there. "The Bad" - Nothing really bad about the Store to comment on. read more

This is a complaint of the Cox solutions store in Chesapeake. I went to the store to exchange my old component DVR for an HDMI DVR. I got the new box and brought it home. Unfortunately the firmware on that box was bad. It only took a technical support representative yelling at me about which source I had my TV on to figure out the problem. Not everyone is an idiot when it comes to A/V issues. I know what source my cable box is plugged into. Give your customers some credit. So I take this box back to the Cox solutions store in Chesapeake and ask for replacement. No problem they replace it. I bring it back to my house and plug it back in. I have no signal this time. I call Cox technical support and have them reset the box. Still no signal. I plug it in using the old component cables and I get a signal. Then I try a new HDMI cable, still no signal. Then I tried HDMI cable on a different input (TV) still no signal. The determination has been that the HDMI port on the new box is bad. All I'm asking that this cox solutions store function checks their equipment before it goes out to the customers. Two boxes were sent out of that store that were not functioning. That is unacceptable. If you go to the store ask them to function check your equipment in front of you to ensure that all ports and functions work properly. I will keep this piece of gear for a week and bring it back next Saturday to get another box and I will have them check it in front of me, however I'm not driving back to the store 30 minutes away again(3rd time) on this beautiful Saturday. On the bright side the store was not as crowded as any other cox solution store I've ever been to. I was able to walk into the store- do what I needed to do and walk out without a wait. The gentleman that I turned my cox equipment over too was very helpful with making sure my account was fully closed, processing my equipment return, and final payment. He didn't hound me forever and try to convince me to stay with cox like a used car salesman. He did his job and let me know he could be of assistance if I changed my mind and wanted to come back. BEWARE OF THE BUNDLE "SPECIAL PRICE." I signed up for internet only service online but elected to go to the store to pick up the router. Once I got there, I was told there was/is a triple bundle advertised only in the store that was only $30 more. The mysterious bundle was internet (the same speed I originally signed up for), basic cable, and a choice of either home automation or a landline phone. I elected the home automation. Here is the kicker, I was told the entire package was $114/ month. Sounds Great Huh? WRONG! The package is about $140/month and requires professional install of the home install (about $55). To add insult to injury, I considered canceling the whole thing and was told the price would be more now for just the internet. On what planet does this make sense? After a couple of conversations and a final extremely helpful assistant, it was all explained and understood. For anyone considering the "Triple Blunder or Bundle" make sure it is well understood what you are signing up for. This is how my bundle broke down: cable and internet are $114, home automation is an additional $25. Add tax and fees. Oh lastly, if you sign up for autopay, it will take about 30 days to kick in. This is a horrible store and it all comes down to the manager Jason. Will not speak to the customers and will not back up his own employees. Has no clue how to handle customer service issues. Jason's name tag says that he is the manager of the store but when asked what his job description was he replied that he did not have to answer that question since I got rid of all my services with Cox. Once I cancelled all of my services with Cox Communications Jason said he did not have to discuss anything with me since I was no longer a customer. Cox Communications is a terrible company and consistently raises their prices. Customer service is terrible and I am glad to done with this company completely. read more

I come back a year later to a 2,000 Dollar bill Naturally I Rage out before calling Long story short my service was out on a hold until they could figure out what was going on. Here I am with No TV or internet now even more angry. I went into this store and Jason said "No your not going to go without" and he sets me up with a new account while my other account was pending. I should add it was a bundle that an old customer like me would not normally be able to get again. Turns out they found the recording where I was told it was on vacation and I was given a credit due to the circumstances. Cox has always had terrible customer service since I first experienced their service in 2012. With the cable business fading away quickly, you think they would provide better service to try to keep what customers they have left. I switched to Dish 3 months ago, and am so happy I did. Especially with the treatment when I turned my equipment in. They do not have an option on their website to set up a disconnect service, as every other utility provider site offers. Since I work 12-16 hour days, I started a chat with one of their agents in the evening after work, who told me that all I needed to do was drop off my equipment at the store since I already had new service set up with another provider. On my first day off of work, I dropped off the equipment. I also had just recently paid a bill that went two weeks into me having Dish service set up. I didn't mind, those 2 weeks were not a big deal, they can have the extra money. The store associate told me that the tech dept. should be able to pull up the chat I had with their rep to use that date for cancellation. They came after me for two more full months of equipment rental after that. I called and after being transferred 3 times, I was told there was absolutely nothing they could do, and they could not pull up the chat conversation and no one should have told me that. She also told me that I had to pay them in full or it would go to collections. Ok Cox, I will pay you an extra 2.5 months of equipment rental because you have lost so much business over the past years, you have to squeeze every penny you can get from your customers. Cox, you also lost a customer for life. I am so glad that my company also recently switched the 124 room hotel I oversee from Cox to Direct TV. The customer service is unmistakably different. Same with my home service I now have with Dish. Do yourself a favor, trade Cox in for a company who actually tries to work with you and believes in being fair, not just collecting every cent they can. read more
