Stay away from Cox cable - To be clear, what I say here is not directed at any specific Cox outlet in particular but at Cox in general - I have had continual reception interference of every kind imaginable since getting Cox cable almost 2 years ago. I sent a complaint email to Cox corporate several months ago and they said to go thru corporate if there are any more problems (she says to prevent an escalation). This has not done anything. The interference is still on a daily basis. At least 6 technicians have looked at this problem. Replacing routers and cable boxes and other things. Other neighbors seem to have no problems with their cable. Can these technicians really be this bad?? The level of reception interference is to the point of being suspicious. Is Cox really trying to fix this problem or is something else going on? If all that is not enough the amount you pay for their service is way higher than other services. I wont even get started on how slow the Cox internet works even though I have the highest speed they offer. Avoid Cox at all cost! read more

I've had up and down experiences with Cox. I think we all have. But, I have gone through some pretty crazy life changes recently and needed assistance setting up my own internet. Sophie and Maria were absolutely awesome to work with. They set me up good with a nice promotion going on. My box was easy to set up when I got home and I'm good to go. They also assured me if I need to downgrade, if I can't keep up with the bill, to come back and talk to them. Aside from the business aspect, they were so easy to talk to. I have been with cox for 12 years. With only internet service. The first few years the prices were at a reasonable rate. But after that it has been a stressful worldwind with their expensive prices they only offer me 1,280 GBs per month and then double charge me for over usage which I've never heard of $76 plus $76 in one month. When I'm thinking they're signing me up for discounts that is useless. If any one has an idea of how stand up against they please help. Because the government lets them get away with it. Here are the issues I have with cox. My internet connection is "lost" at least twice each week: Our home has 3 laptops with wireless internet connections. About twice each week, the internet connection is lost, which requires unplugging the modem and router, waiting a minute, and plugging them back in. I had to do this yesterday and today, so hopefully I won't have to do this for another 6 days. Unbelievably slow email: I no longer use cox email because it is so incredibly slow: it takes so long to load, that by the time the inbox appears, I've forgotten what I'm looking for. Same problem with the search: I search for something and by the time emails appear, I can't remember what I wanted to review. I switched to gmail, but I can't stand this either because I can't sort, but it least it's fast. I gave up using cox when I couldn't access an email containing a forgotten username for the umpteenth time. Don't under any circumstances use the virus software that they provide for free. If you do, you'll regret it. I installed the software and had so many issues with my pc not running correctly. As soon as this was uninstalled, all was well again. Try superantispyware - not only is this FREE, but it's one of the best programs that will ferret out all types of garbage that gets installed on your pc. I've never had a real issue because i'm so careful, but this finds hundreds of items each week on my pc that it doesn't like. The reason I'm writing this review is because the option to color code movies on the tv listings on their website hasn't been working correctly for months: 1. I have to type in my zip code every time I access this site, which can be several times a day. 2. I basically only watch movies - which I want to see in pink in the listings. Even though the box is checked, the listings aren't pink. When I uncheck the box, then they're pink. Is it possible that I'm the only person in Arizona that uses this feature on their website? It's a simple fix: a cookie should remember my zip code, and the web page needs to recognize that a checkbox with a checkmark is "on" - show the color. read more

I'd like to think I'm a fairly intelligent person, and understanding and patient, but not naive. I'm not sure if it's just this store, but wow is this place a racket!!! I went in to set up new service (had cox before but wasn't under my name, so essentially just transferring. He seemed friendly at first, but could tell with his interactions with his manager that they we're trying to be smooth, and trying to upsell everything but could sense the deception, but just let him continue. As I kept asking what plans I was getting and confirming the total price with the fees and taxes, all sounded good. This is where it gets shady.....he goes and gets the new equipment, says "you're set, and you got this for free and that free etc". I asked for a receipt and he said it will be emailed at the end of your month......I said "I understand, but I'd like a receipt or list of what I bought today". He said "we don't have that, but what is your concern, I told you what you're getting, and it's x amount per moment. I asked again, he then replied "look at my screen..(he wasn't happy at this point, and turned from nice to defensive and rude) he flips the screen around and points at a total, but it had no detail, no plan info, and then says "you can't take a picture of this screen, it's against company policy (mind you I hadn't even pulled my phone out or asked to take a screen shot!!!. I had to leave, but before I left I told him I no longer wanted a contract as I was concerned that he was being deceitful, and sure enough when I got home and logged in to my new Cox account online, the prices and plan were way higher!!!!!! I'll be cancelling for sure, I needed something quick for work so it's why I continued that day, but I'll be going elsewhere this week. Unbelievable, never seen such a shady operation. read more

This was the most unique experience we've ever had with a cable/internet/phone company. We went into this Cox store after having a very frustrating experience over the phone when the company wouldn't credit our account for a service we never signed up for nor ever used. They wouldn't transfer us to a supervisor (said the supervisor wasn't taking calls). Anyway, when we went into the store, Tyler helped us and very quickly took care of all the issues and offered us a better plan than what we had previously been signed up for. Horrible service and lied to the entire time. Had to go through ther public relations Vice President to get them to live up to the deals they made. At the 1 year mark thed price als o did not rise $20 but $70. So they are running as scam be prepared for the $70 not a $20 rasise in price. Cheaper and better to go with individual carrier. Home protection plan is awful. Super expensive unless you have 1 window and 2 doors on your house. $55 for each additional sensor. I switched to ADT and got 14 door and breakage window sensors free and 2 motion detectors on a cell phone service that can not be cut. So 3 sensors or your while home. Cox is horrid service anyway. Refused to replace old work out dvr they gave us that would not record. Only time they offered any help was after I switched over and went to cancel. read more

I have several accounts with Cox (as long as 20 years now!) as I manage vacation rentals. A lot of the time the service is fast and courteous but there have been a few times now at this same location where the sales reps have either an indifferent or noticeably cocky (and once even rude) attitude. I had both a TV box and a gateway to return today. I got there just as they were closing, like a minute before 7PM, but the doors were already locked. I realize that when it is almost closing time and there is no one else waiting some employees close a few mins. early but it's not the best policy. However, the tall, lanky bald guy who said his name was "Vincent" wouldn't even let me in even though I told him I rushed as fast as I could to get there and I was still there (barely) on time. He said "I'll take the boxes if you want but I can't give you a receipt". I was taken by surprise because I needed to swap one out but he was in such a rush that I said okay, thinking it's better than a wasted trip. Within seconds however I realized that may not be a good idea because now I have no way of proving I returned them for my client. So I waited at the door until a different employee came to unlock them to let a customer out and told him if Vincent couldn't give me a receipt then just to give me my boxes back. That sales rep said okay. I waited and waited and finally both he and Vincent return with an irate customer who was exiting and very angry with and yelling at Vincent as well for some reason, but he brushed her off sending her out. Then I was told they could not give me my boxes back OR give me a receipt! He said he told me that but I said I reconsidered as soon as I had a second to think and need some proof they were returned or else get the boxes back to return another day. Apparently he had already checked them in (in which case he could have given me the damn receipt at the door!) but wouldn't give me either. To save face he said the account was in some woman's name (I'm a guy) so he "couldn't give them back to me anyway" (yeah, right, the boxes I JUST arrived with and gave to him) at which point I said that was ridiculous as I was an authorized party listed on the account and he saw me bring them in. He then became irate with me when I tried to see his name on his name tag that was dangling from his lanyard. At any rate, aside from closing a bit early and the poor attitude, they have to at least give me a receipt OR the boxes back when I immediately asked right after they took them. I know that much. I was just very astonished and displeased at the way it was handled. read more

I have mixed feelings. The person who helped me was pretty competent and pleasant. But like many people complain, I find Cox Cable itself is just becoming too shady to deal with as a provider. I was in line with a relatively short line of people who also seemed to be turning in their boxes that provide premium channels. I took mine in to cancel all non-basic channels after getting an across-the-board rate hike of 40%. They raised the price of cable TV, the box rental (how did that become more expensive?) and the internet jumped up. All by a lot. This is the third time I've had to go in to turn something in (DVR, another decoder box) after opening my bill to find they once again raised my prices. I got the price lock which helped sort -of for a couple of years, though the savings on TV were wiped out by the rate hikes on internet. On the way in, there is a self-serve check-in kiosk. Nice idea, but it had only the message "unable to connect to the internet". Like my friends who left Cox and never looked back, I will cancel everything with them once I have Direct TV and Century Link installed. Cox...save your money sending me mailers and emails saying you want me back like you do to former customers. The time to say you appreciated my business was while you had me and not "testing" how much I would pay. You found that one out. read more

Went in today to sign up for internet/Wi-Fi service and was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Was greeted immediately as I walked in by a gentleman named Allie. He was courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. I told him what I needed and he got it done. They will be here tomorrow morning to install everything and then I won't have to do these reviews on my phone anymore. Hooray! Any who, I would suggest going mid afternoon during the week to avoid long waits. However, there are a couple couches and tv's to watch while you wait so that's a bonus. read more

Horrible experience. Went in to speak with someone regarding my current service and rates- the initial representative quickly called in a "senior" rep to speak with me without even saying a word to me. Vince came over to "speak" with me. The entire time I attempted to explain the situation and gain understanding of what he was "attempting" to do, he would not shut up and listen to the customer. It took every ounce in me to not scream at him to shut up, wipe his mouth, and listen to what I was asking for 1 freaking minute! What ever happened to listening to the customer or basic customer service? He basically kept foaming at the mouth and countering any and all inquires, almost insisting he knew what I wanted. This was the worst experience I have had with Cox. I have been a long time customer and was deeply insulted by the way this arrogant representative treated me. It was interruption after interruption each time I attempted to present my case. It is a shame that Cox has a monopoly with regards to internet and tv in Phoenix. Management should be aware of such practices amongst their service representatives- never the less, I will be vocal on all social media sites regarding how displeased I was with this interaction. read more

Why in the world didn't I drop Century Link years ago! We had the friendliest assistant (Chris Ferman ) help us with their services. How refreshing! He was so helpful and professional. He didn't try to sell us unwanted packages, he only listened and gave us just what we wanted. The technician ,Clint, arrived promptly on time and was so quick and thorough. The only thing worse than going to one of their stores is being on the phone with them. I called regarding the latest Rate Action Increase, check your bill. I was paying $189 a month for the bundle; one TV, one DVR, Cox Advance Preferred TV package with includes a bonus pak & movie Pak (encore & epix) and the simply 3 phone package. After five days and dealing with six people they haave managed to remove services I DID NOT request to be removed and ADDED a $200. cancellation fee, just to do me the big favor of getting my bill down to $152.70. SO GREAT of them,huh? read more

So my apologies but rant coming regarding Cox Communications!! So after 1 year of having no cable for Christmas I call and get Brooke and I signed up because there's a special for $34.99/month for the 1st year. I already have Cox for my internet which I pay was paying $62/monthly. The representative told me it would be $97/month for cable and internet (plus taxes and crap they add). I have the option of driving to the not-nearby Cox location to pick up my equipment and do a self installation or pay $75 for a person. I chose to self install. I got it installed and it worked for one day and went out and I had to wait 4 days for a technician to come out and tell me it was a defective box. No credits were issued. So I get my 1st bill and it's $278!! I called and was told that it was because it was for more than a month because of the billing cycle and there's also a $50 activation fee. For what?!?!? I hooked the damn thing up myself!! But oh well, I'm busy and didn't have anymore time to argue so I just paid the bill. Today my autopay came out and my "normal" monthly bill was $167!! So once again I call and they don't really have an explanation other than it's an extra $22/month if you want to DVR shows. Seriously?!?! I've always had Dish or Direct and I guess I wasn't familiar with having to pay extra to record. So after an hour and 2 people they get my monthly bill down to $141. NOT OK!! So I ask, nicely, i haven't been mean or unkind to anyone even though I'm seething!! So I tell them to just disconnect my cable and leave the internet. And guess what? My internet will now be $87/month!! WT*!! Before I added cable it was only $62!! Now it's going to be $25 more and there is NOTHING anyone can do to fix this and make it right?!?! I am FURIOUS!!! read more

First impressions still go a long way in the customer service business so to the store manager I would advise the following to improve the customer perception that just maybe an employee cares. 1.Don't have 4 employees basically blocking the doorway when trying to enter. Yes it's nice weather out but try and scatter them. 2.Out of the 4, just one decided to ask if can help me but the other with the big silver ear rings, tattoos and short black hair just says "I got him" and then proceeds to take the modem from my hands, walks off quickly and throws the power cord in a box, rips off the base and throws it in another box and tosses the modem in another and says meet you in the corner. Perhaps a greeting of some sort like "how can I help you today or is this all you need is to return this item?" 3.Standing at your register area I naturally ask do you need the account name? No answer. So you can look it up be the serial number? Now I at least get a 'Yea" Finally i get a return slip and he just walks off to join the group at the door again, no thank or is there anything else I can do for you. Had he bothered to actually care about why I really came in, he would have found that yes, I did want to talk about putting Cox cable in several houses and not just return a modem box for a friend. Will I still put Cox in the other properties? Perhaps, but not by visiting this location again. 4.Training on how to greet customers and certainly asking for for their other business would go a long way to the bottom line. read more

Dealing with the salesman at the store was decent enough. Overall Cox is shady and a rip off. When we went to "self-install" (we were charged for a self-install kit) it was not working so my husband called up Cox and she said they'd have a service guy come out the next day. My husband asked her if there was a fee for the guy to come out and she said "No." The guy came out and set up the TV for us. BUT majority of the time the receiver doesn't work with the remote where I'm 10 feet away or 2 inches away. The guy blamed our TV and said that it emits some signal that blocks the remote from reaching the receiver and that we have to angle our box so that it's at a 45 degree angle. Mind you - this did NOT fix the problem. Then I got a bill in the mail yesterday and we are getting charged for the guy to come out (for a professional installation) and set up the TV. Not only will I not recommend Cox to other people, I will go out of my way to tell them to stay away from this company. Horrible. Do not use. Counting down the days until our contract is up. Seriously, use any other cable provider! read more

I was in this store THREE times in the past 4 days because my internet wasn't working. This employee Monica was of NO help. I payed off a balance that I owed and payed $30 to reactivate my internet services. Monica said my services were never turned off so it should work when I got home which it did not. I called cox and was told that my modem isn't working because it was showing as unreturned. So I returned it back to Cox where Monica again "helped" me and she assured me the new modem would work. Surprise! It did NOT. She didn't even give me the right cord to hook it up. So I went back once more, got the right cord and STILL it would not work. So I called Cox & they said it was because no one ever scheduled to have my services turned back on. THANKS A LOT MONICA! This has been the most frustrating past few days. Awlful service. If you are planning on coming here better give yourself at least 2 hours of waiting time. Unbelievable. Even just to drop off equipment. I spent over an hour on hold and after no solutions were offered, only further disappointments - can't use someone else's modem that's no longer a customer, don't know speeds needed for Netflix or how my speed compared, no explanation as to sudden drop off in quality and consistency of Internet. I wanted to change our COX bill. Called the number posted on-line and they insisted I could not make changes to account because it was in my husbands name only and I wasn't an authorized user. I hung up, looked up our account on-line and saw that I was already listed as an authorized user. Called back and could not convince woman I spoke with to get someone who could view my on-line account to see what I was seeing. She insisted I had to have my husband call in person to add me. This is a company that provides us high-speed Internet and they can't see the same account information on their website. Ironically, I set the account up in my husband's name in the first place, putting myself on as an authorized user. With their extremely high rates, they are just not worth it. The Cox salesman will oversell you if they can, and they do try. Their service is consistently always unreliable, no matter what state or city I'm in, over eighteen years of time. You can always predict that their service will be a problem and you can always count on getting the runaround and you will get techs at your home taking important programs off of your hard drive without asking you and then trying to charge you 75.00 for their services by shamelessly billing you on a statement. In Phoenix they were doing underground cable lines and allegedly fixing the problem but a week and a half later and I'm wasting more of my time having a tech come over to see what the problem still is. Last week's tech checked the equipment and confirmed it's not the equipment. The most stupid thing that Cox does to interfere with their own success is to route your customer service calls across the country in another time zone. I'm in Arizona talking to someone in Ohio. Do not do business with Cox in any capacity! I used them for a few years and when you sign up for their internet for premium package expecting certain minimum speeds they don't deliver and they don't tell you and bill you for what you have signed up for. Also if you call and complain they will tell you that they can send a service truck out but if the issues has resolved itself and service may go in and out then they will charge you $75.00. I called their customer service number multiple times and not only did I not get any help the customer service person refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor! Don't agree to any contracts by phone as I agreed to a 12 month agreement but their sales rep entered it as a 2 year agreement and because I did catch it within 30 days I was told if I cancelled Id be charged an early cancellation fee and reported on credit and it does not matter that nothing was signed!
