We have had Cox for internet and TV as they seem to be the only player in town in our community. The internet service is consistent and the TV programming and packages are expensive but reliable. I so remember the days of the roof mount TV antennas and now we pay over $300 a month for internet and TV. The equipment at times has stopped working and I have taken the wifi equipment and wireless TV boxes in to exchange at this store location. This review is specifically for this Cox Store and not Cox as a company. The company itself treats customers like dirt. By phone or online chat they are irritatingly unhelpful. The company cares more about screwing its customers out of as much money as possible than providing good service. But I digress...let's talk about the store. I recently upgraded my router as my old one was nearly 7 years old and getting sluggish. I was able to have my old one replaced at no additional cost (a minor miracle) and had the new one mailed to me but I had to return the old one to this store. It's located in a large plaza next to Trader Joe's so there is plenty of parking. Although the three employees were busy with other customers when I walked in and I wasn't greeted, I signed in on a kiosk and was helped within five minutes and out the door a few seconds later. The fellow who helped me was quite pleasant. No complaints about this store but if we talk about the company, that's another story. read more

Every year or so, I have to "do the dance" and renegotiate my internet and TV service prices and lock in the price. I typically do this over the phone. This year, the loyalty department was not helpful and services were downgraded and no discounts were offered. To make matters worse, when I try to complain about it, it only got worse. My bill escalated $50 and was told I needed new equipment. I decided to come into this store as I wanted a face to face human element, because of how poorly I was being treated. I met Abe at this store, who immediately understood the frustration I was encountering. He reviewed all the mess that had been done to my account over the past 48 hours and was able to reset my services back to the price and packages I wanted. We went over my equipment, which he said was good. We went over the terms of my contract, which are now fixed for 2 years. He asked about my phone service and agreed that Cox could not beat what I currently have. Abe was awesome and made my day. I felt valued for being a Cox customer for over 20 years. He even told me that he is not always able to help with matters like billing and discounts, but he was able to undo the mess that there online support (oversea call center) did. If I do decide to make a change to my service, or need technical advice, I will not hesitate to come back here and hope that Abe is available to assist me. read more

People tend to lash out against Cox on Yelp over billing or service issues, and I understand that, we've all had issues with cable and they can be frustrating. But I have to say this "solutions store" location was modern-looking, clean, and the service I got was top-notch. In fact my most recent visit to this location was the most hassle-free experience I've ever had with a cable company. It seems to me to be a fully equipped location that can deal with any problem you might have. I admit all I needed to do was switch out some broken cable boxes, but I was in and out of there in like 10 minutes with brand new stuff, no questions asked. (By the way upgrades to new equipment are free, so if you haven't changed out your cable boxes in a while, go do it because the new stuff is pretty cool. They have voice search, updated HD, etc.) When I arrived it wasn't crowded at all, and someone was there right when I walked in the door. They had a kiosk where you input your name and reason for visiting on an iPad, if you had to wait. They also had many different things to look at while waiting, like accessories, televisions, and internet. Everything was brightly colored and welcoming. I could see how it could help people calm down if they were angry about something. Gone are the days of drab bank teller-like store locations, which I for one am glad are gone! Four stars for being efficient and actually solving my issue with no hassle. Hopefully I continue to be so lucky. read more

I have a Cox account for my senior mother and have been unhappy due to the increasing cost. You use to be able to call and negotiate cost. However its become more difficult to get a hold of someone and successful negotiate the cost of cable service. I made the difficult decision to remove cable and only keep internet for my mother. I have had nothing but problems with Cox Cable. I will only relate the latest issue. After tolerating extreme pixilation and freezing I finally could not stand it anymore and scheduled a service appointment for today between 5 and 7. I left work early and waited 2 hours. No one showed up. I called Cox and they said they had no record of the service appointment. The person who made the appointment never created a service order. How do these horrible people stay in business!!????I have had problems with them in the last 2 years way too numerous to mention here. After 20 years of being with Cox I am looking at AT&T. No one could possibly be any worse. If you are even considering Cox Cable, you need to rethink it. Unbelievably horrific. I wish I had the choice of no stars. Today I was forced to change my old cable boxes to Contour. After the technician left, one box completely stopped working. Boxes were reset By phone . Nothing. This was Saturday. I was offered another incompetent technician to come Monday night. I then discovered why Cox is allowed to be so incompetent and horrid. Why they can raise their prices every time my bill comes. This review is about Cox service. My bill has increased 50% over last year. For this added expense, I find that their customer service hours for tech matters when you call in reduced from 24/7 to 8:00a to 6:00p. So, when my Cox cable box arbitrarily decides it needs a reboot after 6:00, and the reboot won't complete (nor does it help to unplug and plug the box back in - multiple times), and the phone option has also eliminated the reboot option (which usually worked), you now have to log in on your computer to Cox. When you do that, and choose "reboot", it still doesn't reboot the service completely. Lastly, their chat function works in very slow motion, asking all sorts of automated questions designed to slow you down. That doesn't get the reboot completed either. SO, what Cox obviously figures is that it is A-OK for you to not be able to watch TV if you have a reboot issue, from 6:00 on into the night - prime TV watching time for most of us. This review is for COX services in general and not this store. If I could give zero stars I would. We have been customers for 20 years and used to be happy with them. Back in August of 2022 we contacted them to discuss our plans and pricing because it was going to change so we wanted to be proactive. We must have spoken to at least 15 people, including supervisors, over several days. We had agreed to a new rate keeping our existing plans for tv/internet and were supposedly locked in for 2 years. This should have been the end of it. However, a little over a week ago we got a text/email saying our rate was increasing to $380. We Immediately contacted them because of the error requesting a supervisor call and during those calls we were also told we hadn't been paying for internet. How is that possible??! Got a missed call from a "no caller ID" that happen to be a supervisor (who answers calls from these numbers???). I called back immediately after getting a message and for 3 days we've been trying to get one to call back after being promised one for the following morning. Yeah right... Customer service/billing transfers us to the loyalty dept. who can't do anything no matter how many times we've told them this. We feel like we've been "bait and switched" on what was promised to us and agreed to and confirmed by email and text. I want to speak to someone above their so called supervisors because this is horrible service to loyal customers. We're going to change providers if this doesn't get resolved. COX, you need to do better! Half the time we can't even understand the reps on the phone because of language barriers or there's so much noise in the background from them working at home. Plus they don't listen to what you're telling them even when you ask them to make sure they're logging notes of the conversation in their system so we don't have to keep explaining the situation. You need to train your staff better. Transferring customers to a different department or disconnecting the calls even when you ask for a supervisor is poor service. I also don't understand how you can be transferred from billing to the loyalty dept. but the loyalty dept. is unable to transfer you back to billing and instead we have to call back and start all over again. You're a communications/technology company for Pete's sake!!! You must have systems in place to make a simple call transfer. There is also never a supervisor available to connect to and you have to wait 24-48 hrs for a call back. If you actually get one. Unbelievable... I'd ask to be contacted by a COX supervisor or higher after they read this review but I'd have a better chance at winning the lottery, and I don't even play it. read more

I walked in to the store to add TV service to my existing package. I was pleasantly surprised when I was told that I get faster internet as part of a bundle. The person I spoke to assured me that all I have to do is plug in my Contour receivers when I get home. The person failed to disclose the following, as I discovered over the next several days and several phone calls: - My existing modem does not support the improved internet service - I have to buy or rent a new modem - The tap at my location does not support the new improved internet service and it takes 3 days to get that service call - As the result of the service 'upgrade', I lost my unlimited internet access I returned to the store the next day to get the new cable modem, thinking that this is all I need. I politely asked to replace the modem that I have today, which was given to me free of charge about a year ago at a Cox Solutions location. My request was rejected by the same person who helped me the day before, on the grounds of 'we don't give out modems' and 'you have to pay because you upgraded your service'. The person was: - Rude and not friendly whatsoever - Argued that I am the one that chose the package, not him - Began raising his voice as I continued to try to explain why I am not happy After a few minutes of being scolded by this 'customer service' person, I had asked for a supervisor, who spent a few minutes hearing me out, apologized and issued a one-time credit for the account to cover some of the fees I would be incurring by having to rent a modem. He looked in the system and said that all is good to go, so I thought my problem was solved. When I returned home, the newly provided modem did not work. This is when I found out (after 45 minutes on the phone with support) that I have a tap installation (whatever this means) scheduled two days later. Until that's done, I would experience 'reduced service' and have to restart my cable modem multiple times per day. In the meantime, the Contour receiver that was issued to me still did not work. Here I was, without TV and without internet, waiting for this magical 'tap installation' to fix all my problems. After the tap installation two days later, the receiver still did not work. Turns out I was given a receiver with a bad HDMI port (Component video worked, but not HDMI). As explained by a helpful person on the phone, the receivers issued are refurbished, and sometimes have problems. Aren't they supposed to test these things before re-issuing??? I am about to make a third visit to the store in 4 days later today, hoping that I can have the TV service I tried to get several days ago. This is NOT what an experience should look like when onboarding a new customer to the service. I had a choice to make - move TV service to Cox or move internet service to AT&T. I am very much regretting my decision. EXTREMELY disappointed with Cox. About the person at the store who was helping me: Extremely rude. Does not appear that he really wants to be there. Zero customer skills. Dared to raise his voice at the customer, which was a first one for me in a while. He was watching a football game on TV when I walked in both days, and it felt like I was bothering him and taking away time from football watching. Does not know what an end-to-end process look like for activating a service. Does not disclose important contract terms when switching customers to a new bundle/package. read more

First of all... I have the Ultimate Internet package which should an amazing connection for all of my needs. The smaller packages were just fine for me when I lived in Irvine. That being said, I've had extreme packet loss issues ever since I signed up for Ultimate in Lake Forest. Multiple techs have been onsite promising that it would get fixed. It's been over 3 weeks and I'm still having connectivity issues. I pay Cox ~$200/mo for an unlimited data plan with the best Internet package they offer and I'm getting the worst support I've ever had from an ISP. It's becoming obvious that they have some outdated infrastructure in our area that they have no intention of upgrading. They have a week before I "upgrade" to DSL. It's that bad. read more

After spending 5 hours both on the phone and in this store with employees trying to get a modem to replace mine that wouldn't work I was sent home with a new modem only to spend another hour on the phone with cox jumping through every hurdle the modem they gave me was garbage and couldn't be activated. When I returned to cox to exchange it yet again for a modem the employee took offense to me telling him the modem I was given was defective. When asked if he could confirm the modem was activated he scoffed and refused to show us it was. Do not go to this store and I'm going to be looking for a service provider who can actually get their business in order. So shortly after moving into our new place we decided to continue our contract with Cox Cable since we found out that Sendero in Rancho Mission Viejo was one of their major test pilots for fiber optic service for internet, alarm and telephone access. Sounds good and pretty darn simple, right? Wrong. We set an appointment and a technician, that shall go unnamed, comes out to our place to set up cable internet and TV. He immediately informs me "Whoever sets up your flat screen smart TV's needs to run an ethernet cable through the wall to assure best quality streaming video access" so we can simply plug in the TV to the cable internet source without having to use wifi and suffer dropped connectivity. Sounds reasonable. Then he asks me to test my iPhone and iPad for internet connection and the wifi immediately connects without any issues. Sweet! The very next day we call the TV installer to run cables through our wall and hang our smart TV's in the master bedroom as well as the family room. We buy extra long ethernet cables to snake through the wall (as instructed by the cox cable tech) then test the cables.... No signal. So I decide to just settle and hook up both TV's to wifi access. That idea only worked successfully until my family room TV started dropping signal periodically. This totally blowed. I went out of my way to assure the cable worked hardwired and the community as well as Cox Cable prided itself on this groundbreaking fiberoptic cable technology... Meh... I call the Cox phone tech support and the gentleman insisted that I go wifi and that just brought me back to square one and even more frustrated with Cox. Then coincidentally I run into the same Cox Cable technician in my neighborhood who originally activated my cable and had him take a look at my home's telecommunications hookup box. The technician says he did what he could and blamed my builders equipment for not working then he left abruptly. Guess what Cox Cable?... Now, as I type this, both of my smart TV's are running hardwired to the fiberoptic wall jack without any issues whatsoever. Guess why?... The builder informed me that the main ethernet panel is only meant to be used for telephone and alarm services and NOT INTERNET and that the designated internet ethernet cables should be plugged directly into my router. The Cox Cable Technician plugged the wire from then telephone/alarm panel directly to my router instead! Cox Cable, if you pride yourself so much for this groundbreaking revolutionary step in cable telecommunications technology then please spend extra money on training your employees on how to install and activate this technology correctly.... read more

So I stopped by the store today to deal with a billing issue. I am new to California and new to Cox Cable. The process of setting up service over the phone last month was difficult and frustrating. It feels like every time I speak with someone they have a different understanding of the promo, the service, the bill, etc. After finally getting totally perplexed I decided to stop by the store and speak with someone in person. I am giving this location a 5 Star based on the experience today. There is a follow up next week that I will update. But today Kevin and Victor did spend some real time explaining what happened and what they will do about it. I felt they really knew what they were talking about and committed to me what they would do and by what timeframe. Told me to come back in next week and it should be solved. It's all So I did go back the following week. Kevin very clearly told me he had not heard back on the situation, apologized, reiterated his commitment to solve the issue and asked me to stop back the following week. I went back the following week and Kevin greeted me quickly. He did have a solution for me that was acceptable So I really wanted this experience to be different. I wanted this group of young people to be able to solve this reasonably well. I started out after the first visit giving them 5 Stars. But what I was told on the third visit ended up not being what occurred. I was told my very first bill was wrong in that no tax was charged. so my third bill would be $20 more than the first. I was told I would be credited back on my next bill for the difference between the second incorrect bill and the now corrected third bill. 1. Tax was never the issue. They are now charging more for the bundle I originally signed up. 2. My new bill issued on 9/3 and they issued the credit on 9/4. So they purposely issued after my auto pay covered the full bill. So after holding my money for 30 days, they admitted they owed it to me and then planned on sitting on it for another 30 days. 3. This entire situation started when one of their people told me if I bundle in home life my bill would be $5 less than without and no install charge. None of that turned out to be true. So in my attempt to unwind from that deal I end up paying more per month than my original deal. When this first started the store guaranteed I would not pay more than my original $184 bundle deal. I actually think the guys at the store really tried to solve it and I think their company just does not back them up. Too bad but I feel like just another person searching for another option. 15 months later: I noticed they started charging me $20 more a month for my bundle. I ran off my bills and went to the store and talked to a guy named Brian. He looked at my bills and told me that after 12 months they charge me $20 more and that was told to me when I signed up. It was not told to me and I asked him where is this in writing. He told me to look at my first bill as that would include the contract and it would be stated in that document. I checked the document and it did say my bill would go up $20 after 12 months of a 24 month contract. I went back into the store and Brian looked at the contract himself and admitted it's not in there. But another bearded guy got involved and told me I would have been made aware when I signed up. I just need to see where in the contract I signed it says this as I can't believe they would not have put it in the contract. No go, they just said it was told to you, etc, etc. They are not bad guys but I just feel like they are trained to be elusive and avoid solving real issues. read more

OK so I wanted to save some money so I called Cox and asked for any plans on their loyalty program to save money. I have been with them for 16 years! 16 years of paying for channels I never watch! So They gave me a plan called advanced economy for my TV cable so I can just get certain stations that I like and I don't HGTV and other things that I don't care about. So that was nice and it save me $36 a month. I thought it was going to apply to all the boxes, however that is not the case. The new Mini boxes will not let you get the premium channels that you're paying for on economy!! Apparently they're not compatible which blows my mind because I can't figure out why I can't get the those channels there if I am paying for the channels. I'm just not paying for all the channels that I don't even care to watch I don't know why everything has to be so damned complicated !!! Why can't they just make everything apply to every box mini box regular box?! I don't know I'm sick and tired of all this stuff it just makes the customer just Mad as hell !! I don't want to pay for stuff that I don't need why do I want to pay for all that? ! I would think the COX would make all the boxes receive all the channels that are being paid for and that would be the fair thing to do whether it's a digital mini box or a regular digital box! After all they're making all the TVs go static if you don't have one of the many boxes so if you have TVs and other rooms you have to have those many boxes and pay for those but you're not going to get all those channels on this you pay on the full price for all the channels that you don't ever even care to watch It's just absurd!!!!!!! read more

This email was written 4 days after (so far) uninterrupted TV & Internet service, and primarily deals with the technician's work as related to installation. Hi Jose, I wanted to send you some feedback on Rick N. who recently came to our home for service installation at [Address]. Cox did not send us a notification that the appointment was confirmed, but we were happy to find Rick come on time. He was extremely professional and informative -- and where he stands out among all the technicians I worked with in the past -- he was patient and had the customer's best interest in mind. He did not rush the job, and took the time to hear what our needs were. Namely, we are in the process of having CAT6 ethernet installed throughout our entire home, and with his help (mapping out the existing coax cabling coming into the house and devising the best way to split them for the best signal strength in the various rooms), we were able to come up with a cost-effective solution that we can present to the network installers. As new home owners, we appreciate any cost-saving measures we can explore. Further, without us asking (or even realizing there was a problem), Rick fixed existing, improperly terminated ends in the various rooms, and ensured that each outlet had strong signals. He also educated us on both a non-technical and technical level parts of the installation process and equipment, which in turn gave us further information on how to best model our new home. As a systems engineer who has been in the IT industry since 2001, I greatly valued Rick's technical information. Until everything was working properly, Rick did not leave. This is expected. However, he surprised us further when he offered to return, if anything did not work after he left. This proactive approach was very welcome. Once our network installers finish their work in the coming weeks, Rick also offered to return at a later date to ensure the coax cables were properly terminated. That is the type of customer service my wife and I have never seen. If Rick's service is the standard by which Cox operates, Time Warner Cable and other operators have some serious training to do. There's a striking similarity between big government and big business, both lack accountability and customer service. I have been a COX Customer for over 13 years. In that time I have watched the company morph from COX Cable to COX Communications in an effort to remain relevant and compete with a changing telecom/communications industry. In the process and through its legacy, COX has established market dominance in my community. While growing and enlarging, it has failed to manage its ability to meet the needs of its customers adequately. This really came to clarity when trying to transfer service for our home internet connection and cable TV service. After first selecting an online transfer option I received an automated confirmation that service would be transferred. In effort to make certain that the transfer took place I called and after sitting on hold for 15 minutes spoke with a service person who informed me he had no record of the service request but would put me on the calendar for the earliest available service appointment which was 7 days later. Being told to wait seven days for Internet access when the majority of your business and personal activities center around online access is unreasonable enough, but to have my time wasted as much as I have since is truly unworthy of a company calling itself "your friend in the digital age" My "friend" cox is asking me to wait longer for online service than the federal government requires for a handgun purchase. Go figure? Since then, I have called and explained my situation asking for remedy several times, being put on hold and told that I would be called back. In the two most recent instances I was never called back. The bottom line here is this: Cox has a good problem, one that any business would love to have, it has excess demand. There are too many customers who need service and they simply cannot provide it properly. Unfortunately the remedy for this is strategic planning, research, and investment in expanding capability. To encounter the congestion is one issue that could be resolved, with better management. The customer service aspect is just typical of big companies who benefit from the public conveyance we as citizens afford to them, and are then treated as numbers on a spread sheet. The personal touch is lost when companies like cox grow to this size, hold near monopolies on service and are successful enough based on recurrent revenue to not care when people leave them. There are other options, none of which are particularly amazing. Sadly my review of Cox is a no star, do not recommend for anyone expecting to get what they pay for. Try telling them your payment is on its way and should be received in seven to ten days, see if they are as accommodations as they expect their customers to be.
