Inside the quesadilla was seasonal mushrooms, huitlacoche, and cotija cheese. Huitlacoche is a mushroom that grows on corn. I thought the presentation was beautiful. Unfortunately, the quesadilla was very salty. Luckily the sauce bar helped me tone down the salt flavor. I really enjoyed the pink sauce, I believe it is called the chipotle sauce. Before I get into the meal options though, I need to sing some praise about the churros because I feel like they can get buried from all the attention and love that the tacos get. TLDR: TRY THE CHURROS. They come out crispy outside, warm and soft inside, and covered generously with cinnamon & sugar (think funnel cake lite). Good price too: $6 for 4, served with chocolate and caramel dipping sauces on the side. Definitely recommend, especially for those with a sweet tooth. Tacos are amazing - filled to the brim, the 2 tacos per order are more satiating than you might expect. My personal favorite is the octopus (Pulpo frito). A friend recently introduced me to the grouper frito one, with breaded fish, which is amazing as well and might (just might) be a contender for the top taco on my list. Every time I have come here or walked past this place the line is always outside the door, but luckily moves pretty fast. I ordered the "Pescado" and "Quinoa" tacos and they ONLY come two per order. (Unfortunately you can't choose one of each and mix them). The fish taco was my favorite, and the cilantro aioli that was paired with it was soooo good! The quinoa taco was a bit dry and bland for my liking. I love the fact that they use corn tortillas! They are slightly over priced but its expected for the location, like I said before this place is consistently packed so finding a place to sit and eat can be difficult at times since its a fairly small place. I'm so happy that we have a Coyo Taco in our neighborhood because it is casual, fast affordable and delicious. I think I said that already TWO YEARS LATER UPDATE: we went back to Coyo Brickell a few days a go and I think that service is suffering a bit. Sadly Coyo Taco did not live up to the hype for me. For its price, I definitely had better tacos. Here's the breakdown. On a side note, service is super slow for me coming from Northeast. It took our food about 20 minutes to come out where I'd normally expect about 10 for a taco shop. Pastor de Pollo: 2/5 the chicken was quite dry, the pineapples was a good add. Though I would not recommend as the different ingredients did not blend together well. Grouper Frito: 5/5 my favorite choice, the fish was perfectly fried with great sauce. Must try. Camaron: 1/5 the shrimps were dumped on with so much salt it was so unpleasantly overwhelming. Carnitas de Pato: 2/5 again, the duck was so dry. The sauce did not help much. read more

Coyo Taco offers delicious Mexican food with fresh ingredients and fast service in a casual atmosphere. Good beer selection with a lot of local beers available. My favorite is Hop For Teacher by J Wakefield. Take-out service is easy and fast. I usually order and pay through Eat24 Yelp and I just have to pick up my order in a few minutes. It also makes it easy when they are located in front on the Brickell metro mover stop. If you are not from the area and have to drive, parking can be very challenging around this area. Some of my favorites items are the grouper tacos, shrimp quesadillas, and chicken salad bowl. The grouper tacos are definitely the best tacos I had in Brickell. Excellent beer battered Florida grouper combined with roasted jalapeño aioli and avocado in a delicious hot hand-pressed tortilla. The flavors are just perfect! The reasons I can't give them a 5-star rating are lack of consistency and no taco Tuesday deals. They tend to not be consistent with portions.... somedays salads and tacos are loaded other days not so much. The difference is very noticeable. I guess it depends on who is serving the food that day. I also noticed that on taco Tuesday when Mexican restaurants in town usually have all day specials, Coyo doesn't have anything going on. Came to Coyo after a concert, should've been about 11:30PM and it was loud and fun with a DJ playing mid dinner. Lots of commotion going on, got me a little anxious if you ask me, but a good vibe nonetheless. I got the cochinita pibil tacos, my BF ordered a salad bowl and beer. I was sadden to hear that they ran out of guacamole so early in the night. The tacos were pretty tasty. I also tried his bowl and it was yummy, but came too little in our opinion. The staff that was working brought our order wrong twice before getting it right. Also, I like the fact that they had lots of hot sauces to chose from- that's always a PLUS. I probably would not come back. I feel there are more "hole in the walls" that do the job. We ended up getting our order almost 30 minutes after ordering, even though the restaurant wasn't even full by then. By the time we were done, there was actually a line to enter. While visiting in the area, this place came highly recommended for authentic Mexican style street food. It's located in downtown Miami in Brickell in the bottom of the Axis building. There are multiple locations, the one I came to is on SW 1st ave. If you don't live in the area, it's best to Uber because parking is extremely limited. I did see quite a few scooters that people can rent to get around. Once I entered I knew this was not your ordinary Mexican fast food restaurant like Chipotle. The vibe is very upbeat, trendy and hip. The noice level is a bit loud because of the live music playing, and they get a lot of local patrons from the area. There is seating outside and they have huge fans blowing that keep everyone cool. The first thing I did when I entered was to get in line to place my order. This place gets very busy, after all they make the best tacos, and burritos I've had in a very long time. Their menu is displayed up on the wall behind the staff. You can watch as every single dish is made fresh to order, no shortcuts, so be prepared to wait for your food. Once the order is placed your food is delivered to your table by a staff member, or wrapped up in brown paper bags for takeout. This place isn't fancy, but you definitely get a feeling of pride when your here. The staff all wear black tee shirts that say 305 ( Miami's area code) and a drawing of the state of Florida on them. On their brown to go bags they have a picture of hands praying on it. What is unique about this Coyo Taco Brickell Restaurant is they have a live DJ spinning music on a Thursday night. I came around 8:30-9:00p, they are open until 11pm Monday-Thursday and Friday and Saturday 11am until 2am. Many of the Patrons were dancing in line while placing and waiting for their orders. I even witnessed people getting up from their tables and dancing to the Spanish music.It was such a good feeling to see everyone eating, drinking, laughing and very happy including the staff. Everyone seemed to know the words to the Spanish songs. I thought it great! To the left of the counter is a small bar area. You can order several types of beer, sangria, wine, fresh or frozen margaritas with I believe over 100 tequilas to choose from and they serve premium shots of tequila. I chose their frozen Blood Orange Margarita, it was really good. For my main dish I ordered the POLLO AL CARBON-) grilled marinated chicken, queso, pico de Gallo, and salsa fresca all wrapped up in a burrito. It was huge and really stuffed. I could taste the freshness. My burrito was really really delicious and I got their salsa verde and homemade cilantro sauce for dipping. I was only able to eat half and took the other half home. I also got an order of their homemade guacamole and chips. The guacamole had chunks of avocado in it and was kept simple with salt, lime juice and chopped tomatoes. It was simply dressed and very fresh, I couldn't stop eating it. COYO TACO offers dessert like churros and Paletas but I was too full to try it.
