So once or twice a year I get together with my Brother and Sons for a life planning session. Today we met at Coyote Cafe. The staff were friendly and above excellent. The food warm, tasty, large portions, served well placed on the plates. They atmosphere was quiet considering they were about 90% full. When we left they had a bit of a waiting line which goes to show you that a lot of people in the area will wait for this experience. Highly recommend and will be back. read more

This is a really interesting place. We lived in the Vista area for 10 years before moving to San Marcos over 10 years ago and it used to be a much worse area. Was pleasantly surprised to find a really cute place on the corner of a vanilla strip mall. I think the best is that they have a wide variety of comfort and creative food. I had the jalapeno popper grilled cheese sandwich. My daughter had the breakfast burrito and was able to get it vegetarian. The have something called "scrambles" on the breakfast menu I will have to try next time. The server was also very nice. read more

Just moved to Oceanside and was heading to The Yellow Deli Vista for breakfast, following Google Map directions, when I saw Coyote Cafe on the corner of Santa Fe and Bobier. So I decided to go there instead. Seated myself, per the sign. A waitress served coffee immediately, which was appreciated. I ordered two scrambled eggs with a medium charbroiled burger patty, home fries and raisin toast (with peanut butter). I thought the home fries were above average. The eggs were served with shades of brown, i.e. overcooked and dry. The burger patty was likewise overcooked, and the raisin toast arrived stale and dry. Had to ask the waitress again for peanut butter, but by the time she returned with it 5 minutes later, I just wanted to leave, after having wolfed down half my breakfast - so I had something in my stomach. I'd also note that the restaurant appeared to be understaffed, probably needing at least two more people on the floor. Regardless, I will not be returning. read more

This place is exactly what you want for breakfast. Friendly, low-key service. Hometown feel. Our waitress, Samantha recommended the varieties of eggs Benedict. I had the florentine with bacon. It was AWESOME. They do something g a little different with the English muffin, guessing they probably put butter on it and place it directly on the grill. The result is a soft and tasty crunch beneath the hollandaise and that was wonderful. Nice presentation with plenty of thin, crunchy bacon (which is perfect under the hollandaise). This is such a gem in the middle of nowhere. Must try if you're ever in the neighborhood. The food is amazing, they have really nice sized portions at a great price, food tastes delicious and they have a pretty good variety of food choices so there's definitely something for everyone here. Breakfast all day is a must try, garden omelette all the way baby! My favorite is the veggie taco though. It says 1 taco on the menu but you get 2 tortillas and a giant portion of veggies so it's really 2 tacos. read more

I grew up in the town where the cafe is at. The cafe has always been busy every time I passed by it came in for the first time I found out why is always been busy. The food is real good and the presentation of it speaks more about it the pancakes and home potatoes are a must.3 different sets of menu for every meal. The waitress are very knowledgeable, kind, respectful, quick, and hardworking. The cafe looks plain and simple which is great in my opinion, not too over the top but not too boring. I like finding breakfast places that don't serve traditional food that reminds me of a fancier version of Hotel brunch. I was pretty stoked to stumble upon Coyote Cafe on Yelp. I immediately was sold when I noticed that their main profile picture was of pie. Speaking to my inner fat kid already! I glanced at their menu and was sold on a few dishes like the oatmeal sunday and bagel delight. When we got there I was in love with the inside. It's modern yet country. I felt completely content! The crowd dining was a mix of people which spoke to their food immediately. We couldn't decide what to get so we ordered a dish each for ourselves and one to share. I got the veggie sandwich with curly fries and a side of sourdough toast. We decided on sharing the crunchy French toast. The veggie sandwich was piled with fresh veggie deliciousness. The curly fries were scrumptious with his the right amount of seasoning. Once we dove into the crunchy French toast we both stopped eating our individual dishes. The crunchy French toast comes with fresh berries and granola. Unbelievably wonderful mix together! Overall, I'm in love with Coyote Cafe. A nice young lady gets me a coke, comes back takes my order, brings my salad, refills my drink,brings my dinner, comes back, how is it? Are you enjoying it? Yup , sure am. Steak was poked PERFECT. Mashed are from scratch. Yum. They're cleaning up, I ask, do you close at 9? Because it's 8:50 right about. She says, no , we close at 8:30. I'm horrified! Why didn't you tell me when I walked in so late???? This young lady can't be much older the 19 says: Because that would have been rude. You wanted a meal. Customer for life right here. Almost everything I've had here was really good. I only had one thing from the regular menu, the chicken fried steak, and everything else was from the daily specials menu. The portions here are huge! Unless you have a big appetite, expect to bring home leftovers. The specials come with a salad or soup of the day, I recommend getting the soup to save room for the entree. The place is pretty large and you seat yourself. I don't know how busy it gets during the busy hours, but the parking lot kind of sucks, so keep that in mind when checking this place out. I recommend eating pretty much anything from the daily specials menu, and I'll have to try out the regular menu sometime in the next few visits. read more

Coyote is more of a diner than a cafe. They have classic home cooked comfort food. Fish and chips, fried chicken, meatloaf, basic sandwiches, etc. It's not fancy, it's not gourmet. It's just everyday food served by great people. The staff are always A+. Breakfast is definitely the best meal of the day there. Portions are huge. Almost all the meals their are enough for two, which is awesome since the food is so cheap. The only time I will not go there is Sunday mornings. It's packed. read more

I was visiting my mom down in Vista a few weeks ago, and all her friends from church had told her to check this place out. So we went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The place was not super packed which was nice. And for the prices (about $8 a plate) we got a lot of food. I got pancakes & bacon (which they had no problem subbing out the eggs for more bacon, I love pork!) and I ended up having to take about half of it home. My coffee cup was never empty which was really a plus. And the server was sweet and attentive, but not OVERLY attentive. I wouldn't mind going back next time I'm down for a visit. read more

Coyote is right along the same street as Vista High School. Back in my days at VHS my parents would give my sister and I an ultimatum. Either get to School an hour early or get there on your own. VHS didn't have a bus system for students. SO getting there on your own involved walking or ride the public bus. Needless to say us lazy teens chose a ride and being ridiculously early. To kill the time we used to come to Coyote's Cafe. Coyote's Strawberry pancakes sure took my mind off what a loser my parents had forced me to become. No disrespect here but there was mostly a senior citizen crowd here for the early bird special on the weekdays (aka School days). I don't think I ever had a breakfast here that I didn't like. Don't let the location fool you, this is definitely a hidden gem in Vista! Customer service is excellent, everyone here is very friendly. The restaurant itself is roomy enough for a party of 12 or someone riding solo. The portions are HUGE and prices are on the lower side of average. Food was average, nothing spectacular but definitely beats your 'Dennys or IHOP'. I wouldn't go here for mimosas though... Although they do serve them, they run pricey. read more
