The short story: Not to be trusted. Just another contract service provider taking your money for unacceptable, low-quality work. The long story: I had a technician come out to service our swamp cooler for the summer in May. We hadn't used the swamp cooler at all because we were new homeowners. We bought this house in November, and needed help getting it primed for this Spring and Summer. We knew before buying the house that the swamp cooler was not maintained - but all we thought was that it had rusted and needed new pads, according to our inspection. (The previous owners said it was a relatively new system....it sure didn't look that way.) When I booked the service with Coyote HVAC, I requested a swamp cooler deep clean in addition to the seasonal start-up service, which they agreed to. The swamp cooler was full of rust and we didn't want to attempt to clean it ourselves. A few weeks after their visit, I realized that 1 of 2 vents in the house was not blowing any air whatsoever. (It took me a few weeks to notice because that vent is in-between the dining room and kitchen - not somewhere we constantly occupy or notice direct air hitting us.) Then I remembered that Coyote HVAC ALSO never tested the vents to make sure they were working after they supposedly got our swamp cooler up and running for the season. Anyways - 3 days days ago, the swamp cooler stopped working altogether. When I called Coyote to book another appointment (which I would have paid for), I was told that I am now out of their service area since they merged with a different HVAC company. So we scheduled a different HVAC company who came by yesterday. They reported that every part in the swamp cooler was busted, aside from the pads and the belt. The motor is fried. Only 1 of 8 distribution tubes is working. And, the inside is still completely rusted and looks the same as the photos from when we bought the house. There was no deep clean when the Coyote tech was here. In fact, I am not sure if he did anything at all, aside from tell us that it was "good to go". after spending about 20 minutes on the roof with it. Before leaving, he asked if we wanted to schedule an appointment to learn about heat pumps and a potential system upgrade at some point down the road. I agreed, thinking we would schedule an appointment a different day or the following week, but he immediately called a colleague to come over the same day and give us a $20k estimate for a new heat pump/AC system. Again, the first tech didn't mention ANYTHING about our current swamp cooler being on the verge of complete collapse. We weren't looking to install a brand new AC system, but they were sure quick to try and acquire our money for one. We knew the swamp cooler was NOT in good shape when Coyote HVAC came to prep it for summer. However, the issues that a different HVAC company discovered yesterday (like 7 out of 8 distribution tubes not working) and signs of system distress would have been obvious in May when the Coyote tech was here. I should have asked the technician for photos after he "cleaned" and serviced the cooler. Instead, I made the mistake of trusting Coyote HVAC to do what I paid them to do. How silly of me. I hired Coyote HVAC to install an air conditioner a few years ago and was very pleased with their service. But when the thermostat stopped working last year, I can't say the same after the experience I had with their technician. When I was told it would be $400 to replace the thermostat, I admit I was a bit shocked at the price but I told him to go ahead and do it and he left to go get what he said he needed. He came back and showed me the thermostat that he planned to put in to replace my programmable one and it was a simple on and off with big digits, easier for me to see he said. Oh I guess he didn't think I was smart enough to manage a programmable one so he went out to buy the cheapest simplest unit possible to replace with my $400. When I told him I needed a programmable one and I thought he would replace the one they initially put in with something similar to it I thought he got my drift but he put in the cheapest programmable one that they possibly could have. There's no on-off switch you have to go through the system by pressing different buttons to find out where to turn it on and off even. I talked to the owner Mike and told him that I didn't appreciate the attitude for one thing but that I thought it was incredibly cheap to put something so cheap in considering they were charging me $400 for the service and replacement. Mike's idea of fixing the situation was to find a thermostat that I would like better and then charge me another full installation fee to get that done. I'll never work with them again. Their technician was denigrating to me in his assumption that I was not capable of managing something more than a stupid on and off switch, and then Mike's resolutions were equally insulting after I had to put up with that. The only good solution would have been to have sent someone over to put in something that was a replica of what they had taken out and that wasn't going to happen without them making more money off of me. I will never understand this level of customer service because I've referred Coyote to a couple of friends in my neighborhood and beyond. No more. I only wish I could give zero stars. read more

This fall, we bought a new HVAC system from Coyote. The new system is quieter and keeps the House at the temperature where we want it much better than the old one. The crew went above and beyond sealing all the joints in the duct work. We would also like to give special mention to Tom. Tom was able to fix a couple of problems that weren't the result of the new system but they were made much more apparent by the properly functioning ducts. We highly recommend Coyote HVAC. read more

Had these guys come out to fix my swamp cooler and bring a new water line to it. They punched a hole in my wall, ran a hose through which ended up leaking and causing $500 in water damage, and never came back to fill anything or provide any more help on the matter. The icing on the cake came when they hit me with a surprise "assessment fee" months later. Not sure I'm going with them again. read more

I had my furnace installed by Coyote in November 2022. I had a booster fan and the installers set it up so it ran continuously even when the furnace was not running. I called almost immediately after the installers left and was told that no one would be able to come out until 2 days later. As a result, the fan ran continuously until they were able to come correct the issue. I also noticed that the furnace was not switching into 2nd stage and I notified the person who came to fix the booster fan issue and he assured me that it was setup and running perfectly. After a couple weeks and reading the entire owners manual, I was able to confirm that the installers did not setup the 2nd stage feature, and it had been running in just single stage for several weeks. They finally came out and the tech was able to confirm that the installers did not setup the 2nd stage feature. He was able to set it up and also identified that the blower switch for the 2nd stage was not working properly so he left to get a replacement part. He returned with the wrong part and told me it should be in within a few days and he would return to install it. I never heard from anyone for several weeks and finally called to check the status. I was informed that there was nothing in the notes regarding this issue, but that they were able to confirm with the tech that it needed a new part. Needless to say, it took several weeks to complete the install and setup the 2nd stage of the furnace. I requested to get a call from the owner/manager to discuss my overall experience and concerns regarding having installers who neglect to do something as simple/imperative as setting up the 2nd stage for a 2 stage furnace. I still have not heard from anyone and it has been well over a year since I made this request. Overall, I feel that your company is below average. I spent $500 more to go with you all because I was sold on you being a slightly larger company than the mom and pop shop that gave me the best estimate. Your assurance was that you all are great at what you do and have a larger staff to address needs more quickly. This has not been my experience with you all and I cannot help but regret spending $500 more and going with you all instead of the smaller company who probably would have installed the furnace correctly the first time. read more

One of our 3 furnaces was leaking & within hours both our ACs went out. This wasn't a shocker as their age/condition was one of the few things noted in our home inspection as a watch item when we bought our house. Coyote HVAC was one of the few companies that not only would answer our calls but was able to come not only within the week but the next day. The tech was so nice & took me with him during the entire appointment as he diagnosed the issue to explain what he was seeing, options for repair, & just general HVAC technology information. Though it was not cheap, we agreed with Coyote that we should replace both blown ACs, obviously the leaking furnace, but the other 2 furnaces as well, resulting in a totally replaced HVAC system. We knew Coyote wasn't pushing us for unnecessary work because they managed to find every single issue mentioned in our home inspection without me telling them about what we already knew about the system. Fast forward to install, we were given a 3-5 day estimate for how long the project would take. At the beginning, it seemed like it would take 4-5 days, but the team killed themselves working well into the evening to get everything done on day 3. The only hiccups would be that our basement wall got dented when the furnaces were being brought down the stairs. However, Coyote had a dry wall/painter come out & patch the spot. The dry wall guy even patched a small area left by the previous homeowner since he had extra paint so technically the wall looks better then when we bought it! I also wanted the work permited since I like to have that liability protection & paperwork on big appliances for the future sale of the house, etc. I was very thankful they were so easy going about adding this since some companies will try to bully homeowners out of it, somewhat understandably since its usually a way for the county to make a buck. The only negative was that after I'd made the final payment & technically Coyote's work was done, the communication noticeably dropped off. I had to be far more proactive in figuring out when the city was coming to inspect the work & if/when Coyote would come to fix a very minor comment from the inspector. They ultimately followed through to the project's ultimate completion so that we got a pass on the inspection of all our new equipment but it was a bit stressful wondering if Coyote was going to not follow through since our project was "done" & paid for. There was a definite priority shift to more frequent communication with "in work" projects vs. once we only had permitting work left. We plan on using them again for routine maintenance of our systems as well as getting humidifers in the future since ultimately, though there were a few hiccups, we had a pretty good experience with this company. read more

Coyote HVAC is a great company. Medium size so they can handle most projects without big company overhead. Installed an LG multi-split heat pump system on our home. Cranked out a lot of heat during the below zero temps, and does most of our heating at other times. Should be great for summer cooling. They even submitted the paperwork for our $2,100 Xcel rebate, and we got a $2,000 tax credit for the system. We are happy customers. read more

This was my first time using Coyote, and I will 100% be calling them in the future for other HVAC issues. I have been having problems with my upstairs chiller fan coil unit, and they were able to get me a repair appointment very quickly. The technician who came out was on time, super friendly and helpful, and he found the problem with my unit very quickly. He showed me how to prevent the same issue from happening in the future, demonstrated how to remove and clean the filters, and also took a look at my downstairs unit to make sure that filter wasn't having any problems. I have an old gas fireplace that hasn't been working since I bought my house two years ago so I reached out to Coyote HVAC and they responded with an estimate and set up an appointment to come by the very next morning. They were super friendly and very professional and brought supplies to keep the soot and dust off the carpet while working on the fireplace. They were able to get the fireplace up and running again within 20 minutes of showing up and even took the time to clean it up for me and show me how to keep it running. Had my first appointment with Coyote HVAC to do a spring maintenance on my AC unit. The technician Joey showed up at the beginning of the appointment window which was great (appointment windows were roughly 2 hrs). Our AC unit was roughly 11 years old and just needed a yearly check-up. I also was very specific in pointing out the line insulation was worn down and that it needed to be replaced (typical due to UV). He got that all squared away for us. He spent time running thru their entire checklist they have that assesses the unit called a 'system performance trip report'. He explained to me that they keep it on file to ensure that over the yearly check ins they get a good baseline of the AC unit. (I'm an engineer so I really appreciate these thing) The overall appointment was about 45 mins, which I was working from home anyways and let Joey do his thing. He also pointed out my furnace was original to the house (aka 40 years old) and that I should reevaluate in the Fall time to see if it's still running smoothly. He mentioned their 'Coyote Care Membership', which basically pays for the spring AC service and fall furnace service. The membership comes with other stuff like 10% off furnace installs, furnance service, ac install, ac sercive and a few other things. He didn't try to sell me on it, but I had a good experience with Coyote HVAC & Joey that I'll be sticking with them. So far so good! read more

I rarely give businesses a one star, but it has been a very frustrating journey with this company. We hired them last June to perform a maintenance on our air conditioning and the furnace since they haven't been looked at since we bought the house 2 years ago. They recommended us to replace a few parts cost about $300, and stated that's all we need to get the system runs smoothly. They sold us the membership package, which we agreed to purchase since they said that we will get 10% off on all future furnace services and purchase. October came around. We tried to get them to come out to perform another maintenance on the furnace to make sure it's ready for the winter. After weeks for phone calls, leaving messages, as well as contacting them on Yelp. They finally sent someone out. This young man said that we need to replace the whole furnace because it's so bad that it's going to break anytime! We wish they told us this back in June instead of milking $300 from selling parts to us in June and then recommended a furnace replacement right before the winter hit. It was freezing cold for a week but we didn't know how long it would last. We started to feel panic so we asked them to give us a quote on the replacement. We also quickly contacted other companies for quotes. The price quoted by Coyote HVAC was one of the highest comparing to the other companies for the same capacity furnace. Not only that, there wasn't any 10% discount shown in the quote as they told us they would give us discount for being a member. We ended up having our furnace replaced by someone else. We continue seeing $20 being withdrawn from our bank every month. Considering how crappie their service was, I called them up and asked to cancel the membership. Again, after several phone calls, someone finally pickup the phone. After I explained to him what happened with their service and that we ended up replacing the whole furnace during the high demand season. We no longer want services from them. This guy said we can't cancel the membership since it's a yearly contract! First of all. We don't remember signing any contract or having a record of the contract. Secondly, they didn't honor the contract in the first place since there wasn't any 10% discount on the furnace replacement like they said they would. When I started pressing on the issue, he raised his voice, trying to talk over me about the "contract" I signed, and that I will need to keep on paying! I got very upset and was about to engage in a shouting match. The guy finally lower his voice. He said he will talk to the owner and will call me back tomorrow (which was several days ago!) We have had it with this company. We don't recommend doing business with them!! read more

Not an honest company!!! We had Coyote HVAC come provide a "free estimate" (which is listed right here on Yelp) for an A/C Replacement for a rental property. I received an invoice via email with the a/c installation for $11,000. I called to ask about pricing options since this seemed fairly high, considering we already have a/c, but needed a replacement unit. I talked to an employee who said he wasn't really sure about the options or pricing, so he would have someone call me back within the day. No call back, and I attempted to call two more times. I received a call 10 days later after not hearing from them. I kindly explained I went with another company (who charged $7000), due to no communication, explanation or other pricing options. She was very apologetic and said she would look into the communication problem. Fast forward to July, and I receive a random $200 invoice for the a/c estimate dated back to June. What?! I called immediately and the employee said they charge for estimates since we didn't use their company for installation. I explained that my calls were not returned, and a fee for a FREE estimate (as stated on yelp) was never discussed. He said he could take $50 off the invoice fee, and would have someone call me back. Still no call back. I will be reporting to BBB since they advertise for free estimates and then attempted to charge unfairly. Do not use this company! read more

Do not hire this company. They will try to scam you. Job took more than twice as long as it should have as a result of their material mess ups (which if I hadn't inspected their work would have been left, and the heat pump wouldn't have been able to heat my house adequately). First, coyote installed the wrong (less expensive, lower capacity) air handler in my house, then the installation crew left without completing the full scope of work. In addition, the crew made no real effort to keep my house clean, getting mud all over for me to clean every day. It took way too much effort on my part, I shouldn't have to go down in the crawlspace and inspect that the scope work was complete. I should not have to verify that the right air handler was installed. The crew also left trash all over my crawlspace: zip ties, screws, sharp pieces of sheet metal, old ductwork. Then Coyote sends me a final invoice a week after completing the work, and I pay it in full that day. Fast forward 2 weeks, and I call xcel to verify the submission of rebate paperwork (It hadn't been done yet). I call coyote and they claim I owe more than the final invoice that I paid in full. Apparently from an invoice they sent me before any work was done and before the final invoice that I paid in full. These are obviously deceptive business practices. Don't waste your time with Coyote HVAC. read more

We moved into a new house that just had their furnace replaced last year through coyote. Unfortunately, coyotes technicians thought it would be a good idea to put a high-efficiency furnace in an attic an unheated space (a big no-no ). In the month of November, December and January we were completely without heat three nights! We had to call out coyote on Christmas Eve because we had no heat. Our normal technician Joey was on out that day and so we got a different technician, he went on and on about what a sloppy job it was and how coyote has high standards and they would never hire a technician that would have installed a high-efficiency furnace in an unheated space. He was very surprised to learn that it was indeed coyote that installed that furnace. Coyote was nice enough to quote us to replace their work that they had just replaced the year before. We ended up throwing it away and running as far away from this company as possible. We did have to drop $20,000 on a new furnace it just wasn't with them. read more

I scheduled Coyote for a check-up on my a/c. JP came on time and was very efficient, explaining everything to me and answering all my questions. He made some adjustments to my thermostat and showed me how to do it if it needed to be done again. About a week after the check-up, my a/c would not shut off. Turns out it was freezing up because of an incorrect filter, Home Depot, had the filters incorrectly marked. JP's brother, Joey, was the technician. He showed me what kind of filters to get plus did not charge me for coming out again. Wow, fantastic service, very personable service people and so helpful. And I found out Coyote is a "family-owned" business! Highly recommend. read more

Additionally, they always go above and beyond our expectations. Our tech JP came for our air conditioner maintenance. He went right to work and had our AC functioning at top level. We asked about a humidifier system that would work in the summer and he gave us the run down on what was available and pricing. We plan on adding that to our home. I needed a water heater diagnosed and eventually replaced, and Joey exceeded all expectations. - Coyote was the first to respond to my quote request - Joey came out the next day and thoroughly evaluated my problem and offered several solutions to replace a water heater that had severe space limitations - After receiving 6+ quotes I realized that several companies were trying to price-gouge me for installation, replacement product, or both... First, I am a huge practitioner of using local and preferably veteran-owned (friendly) companies. Back in Sept 2022, we had an AC system in our rental property stop working. After looking around - multiple companies - we were able to find a great team and professional tech to solve our unique system. Because it was late summer and this was affecting our tenant, the timing was not our friend but Coyote was there for us and did not take advantage.
