    Coyote California Burrito

This is a small Mexican restaurant located in the Avalon area of Catalina Island. Service is prompt and friendly. Place was clean. Outside tables available. Albóndiga Soup was delicious. The California Burrito was ok but needed extra flavor.

The drink is mid and the shooters were even worse. I probably wouldn't come here again.

After a long day we came across this bar and grill. The decor was nice and they offered indoor and outdoor seating. We were seating fairly quick however it did take a while to place an order for drinks. We got chips and salsa with guac and I ordered a wet shrimp burrito. The guac was fresh and had great flavor and the chips tasted like they were freshly made in house. The burrito itself was very flavorful. The salsa gives it a good spice but also a ton of flavor. Very generous portions I left with a full stomach.

The best cheese enchiladas I've ever had!! Refried beans also top notch. 10/10 recommend. Great service, clean, all around favorite spot on the island.

The food is good and the service is good as well. Price is good for the quality of the food. At the time we went to eat the ambiance was calm but when I walked at an earlier it was busy and seemed like a party. They have Happy Hour from 3pm-5pm. Give them a try.

This place is comfortable looking at first site. However- as soon as we walked in they put on very rude songs with body parts and sexual content, for some reason, and on repeat until we left. We were the only people in the restaurant and yet asked about some chips and salsa, and they said there will be a charge. To me- a place with no clients should be giving chips and salsa to start, but what do I know?.. The food was horrible!! Hands down the worse Mexican food I've EVER had. We ordered the Queso fundido, taquitos, and enchiladas- absolutely horrible! Nobody cared that we did not eat or finish our food and if we liked it or not. STAY AWAY.

Cayote Joe's is a restaurant/bar with Mexican food and burgers. I'm normally not a salsa and chips person, but their salsa and chips were delicious. Somehow their tortilla chips had a slight chewiness to it which I couldn't get enough of. I ordered the burger and fries. It was good but don't expect a gourmet truffle burger here. It's more of the backyard BBQ burger- and I'm a lover of all burger types! So you decide if that's your thing. We ate at the bar and the bar tender was very friendly. It wasn't as busy as some of the other restaurants. They have indoor and outdoor seating. There's TVs that have the game on. So it's a sports bar that serve real food (as opposed to bar food where the menu just consists of appetizers).

Staff seemed to give us the side eye while being jovial with others; not sure what prejudice they had against us. Normally I can forgo blank stares, but I expect a little more when I'm in a tourist area. - Wiki Wacker Both tropical fruity and alcoholic at the same time. You get a hat or sticker with it, and we weren't asked which one we preferred. The strength is similar to a long island, due to the mix of rum and brandy. Decent blend that had a pretty light to deep orange gradient, and an extra pineapple slice. We had fun with the straw hat, so it's fine that fate declared we receive this souvenir. - Buffalo Milk I preferred this drink over the Wiki Wacker, but I can see some people not being into it. It tastes like a creamy nothing. I liked it because the flavor was very, very subtle; it was like an icy, subtly creamy, subtly banana, subtly bitter smoothie topped with whipped cream and nutmeg. Nothing about it has buffalo in it. I would get this again. To sum it up, theming is nice and drinks are aesthetic, yummy, and effective. I love the wide open windows for the natural light and breeze drifting in, and if you're seated near the front, you can people watch.

We were able to get a table right on the water and overlooked the entire bay as we ate. Note: They only serve bottled water due to a water shortage and I believe it's $1.50 per bottle. For appetizers, we got the Crispy Calamari ($21) and Baked Crab and Artichoke Dip ($20.50). The calamari was fried perfectly and so tender. The dip was really flavorful but the chips were a little too oily. To share, we got the Sautéed Sanddabs ($28), San Francisco Cioppino ($40), Beer-Battered Fish & Chips ($26), and New York Strip ($46). The sanddabs were cooked perfectly and so flavorful. The Cioppino was full of fresh seafood with a good variety. The fish in the fish and chips were pretty small and the steak was standard. Service was amazing the entire time so that's always a plus!

Her service was spot on. The Cons The side salad was nothing special and I thought a bit over priced at $10. Now on to the lobster "roll." We fully expected to pay more due to the fact that this a touristy place and is on an island. For $34, what we got was a whole lot of disappointment. First of all, the portion you get is nothing close to what a usual lobster roll should look like. The Taragon sauce they sauce they put on it overpowers the lobster. The worst part is the quality of the lobster meat they use. When asked where the lobster comes from, I was promptly told Maine. We live on the east coast and are from the northeast. When I pressed the waitress, she admitted they use knuckle meat not the tail or whole claw. Still not buying it. In both my husband's and my roll there were langostino tails mixed in. When I flat out asked our server, she nodded. That is a huge misrepresentation of the food they're serving and certainly no one would pay $34 for that substitution.
