Coyote Joe's Bar and Grill here in Catalina. I highly recommend this place the plate was large serving lots of food on the plate. I ordered Chorizo,eggs and Potatoes .The food is very delicious! coffee freely served fast left and right back to our table. also very beautiful tasting. Enjoyed my time here. Came before catching the boat for some food and a pitcher of margarita. Thought the pitcher was wildly expensive but my husband and I had about 4 cups each so it was well worth it. Ordered potato tacos and the nachos. They were both good - not spectacular but good. They came out incredibly fast too, which was great. We must have sat here outside drinking for a little over two hours enjoying the last moments of our trip and servers were all very nice and helpful. read more

The service was friendly. The food was fine. It's not great. It's not bad. It's fine. Prices are appropriate for the island. That means they're high like everywhere else. It's not located on the main drag so when the other spots are booked solid, you might try this place. The margarita was fine. The chicken nachos were pretty good. The chicken was ground chicken--a little surprising but it tasted fine. The two salsas on the side were good. No guacamole or sour cream. Just good, crunchy chips, melted cheese, ground chicken snd salsas on the side. The chicken quesadilla was also made with ground chicken. There was some guacamole on the side. Such amazing Mexican food and drinks! We came in for a late dinner and got seated in the patio area right away. I was surprised to see the screen dividers were still up. The menu was huge with amazing items. The drink menu was one of the best in Avalon. We had spicy cucumber jalapeño margaritas and mind eraser shots. They were fantastic and yummy! Hubby had Corona and Patron shots as usual. For food we had hamburger patty, carnitas, Diablo shrimps, asada tacos and pozole soups. Everything tasted so delicious and flavorful. I didn't know Diablo sauce was the spiciest out there and it almost burned my mouth. It was THAT spicy but so good. As I am getting older I try not to eat spicy cause I get severe heart burns from it. We had a few more rounds of the super strong and refreshing drinks later on. It was a disappointment . The ice tea I ordered tasted like lemon water. No tea flavor. They didn't open on time. The food came out and after a couple bites through my plate there was a dead fly smothered inside my food. No it did not fly in while I was eating. It was dead and smothered in my food. I ate at this establishment on 10/11/25 and after paying for the bill, I left a $0 tip on my card and left $20 cash for the server. When I checked my account after leaving the restaurant I noticed that they added additional charges to my card that I did not approve. When I called the establishment and spoke with the manager Freddie he stated that the restaurant is allowed to add gratuity to any bill of a party of 6 or more, there was only two in my party. read more

I had the most horrible experience at this restaurant. Mind you, it was my birthday and the service was terrible and ambiance was ok. The bartender/waitress barely communicated with us but spoke to everyone else, whom I assume were regulars or locals. The night prices were not on the menu and she also put three other people's drinks on our bill. I was shocked that she did that, but then again, that shows she didn't communicate with us and assumed we were buying drinks. By the way did I mention ITS MY BIRTHDAY. Toward the end, when we asked for the bill, it went from $90 to $115 to $105. It was just confusing. When we were explaining that the items were not ours, she began to be irritated when all we wanted was clarity. I would never come back and she made the ending of my birthday terrible. 3 star is probably a little generous. The servers are very nice, classic socal Mexican food decor, which is what bumped up the score and their guac size and flavor was good but chips super oily, salsa seemed fresh but had a tangy taste to them. The main items too much oil and messy too. I think they just need help in the kitchen. Probably a good fun place for drinks and specific items if you know what to look for. First place to dine while visiting Avalon for the first time. Cute little cantina style restaurant playing 50s rock and roll music. We dined in the outside patio. Our server, Israel, was very pleasant and prompt in getting our drinks and order. Didn't wait too long for orders to come out. We ordered a chicken enchilada plate, a two chicken soft taco plate, and a Coyote burger with fries. The food was delicious. Stopped in here with family the night of Christmas Eve for dinner. It was one of the businesses that were still open, even on the holiday, which I appreciate. They messed up 3/5 of our entrees and one of our drinks, either forgetting things we added on, or altogether giving the wrong thing. My boyfriend ordered a hot black tea, and they served it to him as a shooter with alcohol in it?! I don't know in what world tea on a cold night would be spiked, but I thought it was incredibly weird... As for the food itself, it was super bland! Not a touch of salt or seasoning on the meat at all. I couldn't believe the world of a difference unseasoned birria made in a burrito. I wish the cooks fulfilled our requests when it came to our meals, or that the waiter took note of them in the first place. read more

Vegan review warning. I ordered the soyrizo and papas taco plate. Asked for no rice and black beans because the rice and refried beans are cooked with chicken stock and lard. Plate came with rice, refried beans, and everything covered in melted cheese. (Cheese was not listed on this menu item like it was for other taco plates) I sent it back, asking for it remade without cheese. They returned it to me on the same plate with the refried beans scraped off and maybe 90% of the melted cheese picked off the tacos by hand. Barf. read more

It says they open at 10am. When we arrived they weren't open. Then a lady that was there told us they opened at 10:30 so we left and came back at 10:30. Came back and still closed. Ended up coming here because it was the only place open, I was excited because the atmosphere seemed cool, and I felt in the mood for some Mexican food, but the first thing I noticed was the ridiculous prices, they charge $18 for their "coyote burrito" which is literally just a bean and cheese burrito, I ended up getting a coyote burger for $18 and it was literally worse than a school lunch burger, smallest paddy ever with absolutely no seasoning or taste, I also said yes when my server asked if id like chips and salsa when I sat down which ended up being $7 when I got my bill. I also paid 5.50 for a Minute Maid lemonade and finished it right when I got my food, I was hoping to have a drink with my meal but my server was never seen again until she came to bring me my bill, to finish it off she just threw everything onto one bill without asking a single time how we'd like to pay it, and it has 18% added auto gratuity. So basically only come here if you want to spend a stupid amount of money on horrible tasting food, with no service in sight. read more

We walked along the mini-waterfront looking for a place to eat brunch. This place was about the only one with no line waiting to sit down and eat. We quickly got greeted and scored a table outside. They have clear dividers between tables outside for COVID. We ordered pretty quickly and waited for our food for no more than 15mins. The food itself was pretty good. The plate size was excellent. I was worried we would end up with an enormous amount of food. Instead, we were happily satisfied. The place is clean. Plenty of space for large groups, and it has a bar. Next time I'll try a mimosa; haha, I only had their coffee. I recommend this place for brunch when you arrive. No long waits, it won't break your wallet, and the food is pretty good. The service will definitely make you feel like you are on vacation outside of the U.S. cause you pretty much are ;) read more

Got the wet burrito, not as big or wet as it should be, but the taste was there. Tried a fish taco it was not that good but still edible and the pitcher of margaritas went down a little too easy and quick. I do recommend to try and the customer service is great. read more
