    Coyote California Burrito

This is a small Mexican restaurant located in the Avalon area of Catalina Island. Service is prompt and friendly. Place was clean. Outside tables available. Albóndiga Soup was delicious. The California Burrito was ok but needed extra flavor.

I got the Asada quesadillas, and my boyfriend got the asada wet burrito! With salsa verde

This place was so lovely, the waiter was very nice, he took us in knowing they were going to close. He gave us everything in a timely manner. The food was amazing! It was so fresh and just as good as I was expecting!

What happened to my review? The place has the Mexican vibe without the a true Mexican tastes. Terrible rice, terrible beans . The taste was like they opened up a can of beans and poured it. The rice tasted as if someone who has never made Mexican rice followed a recipe for the first time from a a gringa on YouTube. Four dollar Water BOTTLEs. Long time to wait for bad food and very expensive, even for Catalina. Pass this place and go somewhere else.

EXPENSIVE & really bad tasting food. I should have read the reviews first, unfortunately I didn't. One taco was $8 & the "carne asada" did not taste like beef. It was bad. Even something as basic as the bean & cheese burrito was bad tasting & it was $21!!!!! Choose another place save yourself

Celebrated my birthday on the island and ate dinner here - Ricardo was my server. Was very rude and did not make us feel welcome. He kept serving the outside faster than us. So we finally ordered & went outside. He also didn't hesitate to give us the check while we were still eating and came to check if we paid I told him we are in the middle of eating (hadn't ate all day) and we weren't ready. Others outside/inside didn't have the check, only us. Overall, not a welcoming experience.

The drink is mid and the shooters were even worse. I probably wouldn't come here again.

Food was delicious but the staff took to long to come back to our table numerous times.

We were essentially fighting for our lives with the amount of flies in the corner. Only got more annoying when the food got here. Waiter was chill and the food was fine. We got the artichoke appetizer, lobster roll on sourdough, and the seafood pasta with marinara/pink sauce. Didn't take long to bring it out either. Other than the attack of the flies, it was a good experience with lots of food options.

Ambience: Very spacious, they have the AC pumping in here, bar top with many tables. Drinks 4/5: The michelada was very good and came in a large glass. FOOD: - Oysters Rockefeller 2.5/5: There was way too much cheese on here, you can barely taste the oyster itself. It was also very overcooked. - Lobster Roll 3/5: Just ok, nothing special. It was on the bland side. We had to request a fresh batch of fries because they were stale, cold, and flavorless. - Linguine with Littleneck Clams 2/5: This dish was terrible. Overcooked noodles. I will say they did include a good number of clams but the entire dish lacked flavor. They could have used a quality butter for the noodles. I added two slices of lemon and that helped a bit but overall I would not recommend this dish. There are other items on the menu that I'd like to try and with Avalon having such limited restaurants, I would give this place another try for maybe the ceviche and taco dishes.

They have a nice interior build-out with a huge wine bar, but it was a nice evening and we elected to sit on their spacious patio. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by Sarah, who is the bartender and also manages a couple of nights a week for the owner. Sarah is super friendly, explained the menu and provided great table service. They have a large wine selection. My wife ordered a chardonnay and I stuck with an Arnold Palmer. We ordered their bruschetta appetizer, served as six pieces of toasted bread and the expected toppings. It was a perfect start to our meal. We were not super hungry, and selected a three-cheese charcuterie board. You are able to select your cheeses, and Sarah again helped us make our decision. It was perfect for a summer-weather afternoon (although in March) and we chatted, had our drinks and picked at the board until it was gone. During our meal, Sarah was very attentive to our needs. My wife tried another chard, and we ordered their banana dessert, which had great flavor and was a nice end to the meal. This is a great place to quietly enjoy some wine, beer and food. They have a good sized menu and offer a brunch menu on Sundays. (Diane, Sarah needs a bonus, she made the evening much fun).

We liked some items better than others The charcuterie plate was nice because you could customize it with what you wanted on it. It was great to be able to try new cheeses ! I was not a huge fan of the roasted tomatoes and burrata. The burrata was roasted with the tomatoes - and i did not like the hot cheese and the other people in my party felt the same way. We would have rather had the roasted tomatoes served alongside the burrata The sliders were tasty - I wish they had not been well done I do want to go back and try some more items - they have larger plates as well if you are more interested in a meal. The desserts were lovely - our favorite was the Pavlova with pandan cream. The flavors and textures went well together

Kept seeing flyers for it I kept forgetting to go and I really didn't think that the wine would be very good. But what was actually incredibly surprising was the detail and the quality! I definitely had a little buzz going and it was only I think five or something maybe six different flavors very good size for a flight. Next time I'll come back for the wine because they are made there! Some of the grape grapes are shipped in and there is a local orchard. Just a very cool and surprising little spot.
