I was looking for a place that sold Bernina Sewing machines. As a longtime Bernina user, I'd been hoping to find a dealer nearby, and I was happy to find Cozy's. Walking in, I was greeted by a huge showroom filled with every kind of sewing machine imaginable. On one side, bolts of fabric, quilts, and precut packs completed the best of all worlds for my sewing needs. I spoke with Peter, whom I gather is the manager (owner?). He was welcoming and knowledgeable, guiding me to the modern Bernina that could replace my beloved "old friend." I explained my past experience with Bernina and the machine's demise, and he showed me how the newer model offered improvements in stitching and features. I had recently bought a Janome at another place and was regretting the switch. Peter offered a generous trade-in deal: he'd credit my nearly-new Janome toward a Bernina purchase at full value. I walked out with a Bernina and the sense that I'd reunited with an old companion. Peter also suggested a lesson to maximize the machine's capabilities, which I booked with Tami, a store instructor. Tami spent an hour walking me through the machine's ins and outs, and I left feeling confident and inspired. To top it off, a few accessories I wanted were available at a deep discount, thanks to Peter's careful pricing. Peter came to speak to my quilt guild last year and was amazing. He mentioned that they weren't just a quilt store but that he also worked on all different types of machines. When my machine started acting up, I remembered Peter and called to see if he could work on my specific sewing machine. He said he could and even remembered me from when he visited my guild and spoke. I ended up bringing in a second older machine that belonged to my mother and I wanted to give it to my niece. Peter said he could work on that one too. I brought the machines in on a Tuesday and Peter called that afternoon with a free estimate and had them both ready for pickup in two days! I needed to have my Luminaire Embroidery machine serviced and Peter explained everything that would need to be done to get it running smoothly again. He had the machine done in 2 days and it's perfect! He explained exactly what they'd done on the machine and gave me back the old parts also. Excellent workmanship and their turnaround time can't be beat. A few years ago, I purchased a Horn Sewing cabinet from Paradise Sewing (Peter) for my embroidery machine. Recently the motor on the table lift died so I took it out of the cabinet and took it to Peter to have him order me another motor. He contacted Horn and they're going to send me a new motor! Peter is the best! Most people know Cozy Creative Center has the best fabrics, fun classes and a great selection of sewing machines and accessories. Did you know they also service and repair sewing machines? I brought in three sewing machines that needed service. Two were given to me and one is my personal machine. One of the machines is from the 1960's, one is from the 1980's and mine is from late 1990's. Peter was able to fix the one from the 1960's for a VERY reasonable price. The 1980's machine was going to cost more to fix than it's worth; I really appreciated that he called me to let me know before staring work on it. My machine (1990's) was also going to cost way more to fix than it's worth--I got 25 good years of sewing out of it. Peter went out of his way to find me two replacement machines that cost considerably less than fixing the 1980's and 1990's sewing machines. He gave me a great deal! I highly recommend this business, check them out, I know I will be back. read more

Wow, if I could give this wonderful quilt shop ten stars, I would! I was desperate to get extra fabric for an upcoming quilt class, and they were my only quilt shop option, having what I needed. But, I ended up being not just a few minutes late, but actually 30 minutes late. Izzy and one other employee just happened to be leaving and locking up. But, Izzy asked if I was the one who called about the fabric earlier in the day. I told her I was, and she re-opened the store to cut my fabric for me! Who does that anymore?!?! Staff has to refer to manuals to answer any machine questions. If you want to go in and play with the machines they do let you do that but if you want to speak with knowledgeable staff go somewhere else! SNOOTY MAN-HATING MISANDRISTS !!! At first, Cozy Creative Center appears to be a delightful large shop with much to offer their customers. Then the Staff open their mouths, and the entire conversation goes right into the "Scrapes & Mis-Cuts Pile!" My Wife and I entered their Shop today, looking to purchase Quilting Squares, Fabric and Thread for a project for our Seventh Grandchild, due in late January. As my Wife browsed for the Squares we were ready to buy, spending her entire Bonus Cheque on our new little Darlings "Pin-Wheel" pattern Baby Quilt, she sent me to make enquiries. My Wife and I have been Married 43 years and drove over from our home in Mission Bay. We are in our Sixties, having raised 4x Beautiful Children and been Pet Partners to Six Wonderful Dogs. My Wife is in Law and I have finished a Military & Private Business Career. Our Children are all through University with Merit Scholarships, Married, homeowners, with their own Children. I have participated in my Wife's 25x Quilts. Kathy Giles asked me, "What do I want?" Strange question! She saw me walk in with my Wife. Clearly, I wanted to ask a Question. I asked about Quilting Services Costs. In between eating a cookie in front of me, without offering me or my Wife one from her obvious Customer Snack Tray, then rushing outside in pursuit of a non-existent wayward child, then speaking to another customer about her Banana Bread class, she actually made time to completely humiliate, belittle and denigrate my questions. Then her workmate, Tammy Parker actually said, "You should take this form home with you, and have your Wife fill it out," (she said it twice, because It was obvious, she felt that as a Man, I was too Stupid to fill out the form there). Then she told me again, NOT to fill it out there, NOT now! She was most emphatic! Then, She and the Customer, who I was NOT speaking to, played "TagTeam" critiquing my Mathematical Skills, as I attempted to determine the cost of having my Wife's Project Quilted. It got better! When I asked about the "Warm & Natural" Batting that the shop sold for Quilts, she insisted on trying to embarrass me when I touched the product, by sharply pointing out that I was touching the "doubled" fabric, as if again, a Man couldn't tell the difference. DO NOT ENTER OR DO BUSINESS WITH THIS SHOP! That is unless you chose to make the decision to leave feeling INCREDIBLY FOOLISH for having tried to offer a small enterprise your business! read more

Cozy is my favorite quilting shop for the following reasons: 1. Since they are not part of a huge chain of stores, their focus can be on me, the customer. 2. They recognize that not all customers are at the same (high) level of proficiency and may be reluctant to ask questions. They engage in conversation with their customers to foster a comfort level. 3. I have never been treated, nor have I observed any other customer being treated, as if I am stupid when I ask a question, mispronounce a term of quilt jargon, or overlook the one item I came in for. 4. My Go To Place for knowledgeable help, quality cotton fabric and classes. They specialize in quilting but they also have a wide selection of embroidery machines and sewing machines. I even found a Scan n Cut machine. The selection is fantastically curated. Projects are already bundled together for everything from quilts, cloth purses and carryall bags. Their batiks and seasonal selection are so extensive that I only wish that I had enough time for all the ideas they inspire. It's easy to spend hours! My only regret is that I didnt discover this gem sooner. It is worth the drive from North County. read more

I have been coming to Cozy Quilt for years, and the quality of service has yet to change. My sewing machine at home cannot deliver the same kind of embroidery work that is available here, but I don't mind as it gives me an excuse to stay in the shop a little longer! I have not visited the shop and now would not under any circumstances. I made a cozy quilt pattern recently and for the first time in over 50 yrs of quilting had some trouble getting the results expected. I made the quilt 3 times in an effort to find my mistake. It is very rare that I have trouble with a cozy quilt pattern, usually they are super easy to follow and well written. However, this one was not right somehow and when I called Cozy Quilt Designs to find out what I might be missing in the pattern instructions Ms. Daniela Stout was so rude and condescending that there is not a chance that I will ever put another penny of profit in her pocket by buying another Cozy product. I have sense then, read another accounts about Ms. Stout's unnecessary rudeness and other accounts of rude encounters with Cozy's owner and staff and that's it for me. I don't spend my money where I am insulted. Ms Stout has every little thing to learn about customer relations and customer service. read more

Cozy is a wonderful quilt store. Everyone on the staff from the owner, Daniela, to Mo, Iz, Kathy and Liz, is customer-centered. I attend their Breakfast Club and sometimes their "Strip Club" named for strip-based quilting patterns. Those events are very fun. Because of the culture embraced by the staff, it's a supportive environment for quilters at every level. I'm a self-taught, semi-beginner. They always treat my questions seriously and kindly. They sell beautiful fabrics, many designed by Daniela, as well as other quality lines. They also sell lovely patterns, some by Daniela. I brought my husband there and they were just as nice and welcoming to him as they are to me. My friend purchased a long-arm from them and has excellent service and support. It's a bit of a drive for me to get there, but it's certainly worth the trip for the fabrics, friendliness, and great service. read more
