We've been here so many times I've lost count! The noodles are delicious, and some of my favorites are the pea noodles, dan dan noodles, beef noodles, and chicken soup noodles. We also love the pork buns and crispy pork. There are plenty of kid-friendly options too--our kids enjoy the chicken soup noodles, pork buns, crispy pork, and eggs. So this place is like the king of noodle shops in the south bay. Like, if I don't care about anything else but flavor this place is it. Their default broth is so complex. Anyway just order the pugai beef noodle just the default setup and you'll be hooked. It must be default+ spicy okay? Came here for takeout two times already. You can walk to the front and order from a kiosk. If you pay with cash you get a small discount. Both times I've come it's been pretty busy. I have tried the House special beef noodle soup and their Dan Dan Mian. House Special Beef Noodle Soup 5/5: Delicious and good portion. I especially love the flavor of their broth. The beef pieces are ok, wish it was more tender and there were more pieces. But the broth and the noodles more than makes up for it Dan Dan Mian 3/5: Got lower spicy for it and the spice level was ok. Taste wise it was decent, but I did not like all the nuts in it. Saw a long line of folks queuing for CQ Taste so, naturally, we joined in. We tried a dry noodle and a soup noodle - both were delicious. For the dry noodle, we got their signature pugai noodle and it was MASSIVE - basically like a giant uncut lasagna sheet. Both noodles had fantastic texture and bite. Seasonings were great and everything was tasty but not too salty. We also got their iced tremella soup for $2 and it was delicious. Service was great. Not sure why their overall rating is so low. The portion size is huge. Noodle is consistency is great (at least for the pugai noodle). The only thing I can think to dock them for is that their extra spicy didn't taste spicy to me....but that wouldn't be fair since I was eating a whole bunch of spicy things right before this visit. We got chonked! After learning about CQ Taste on YouTuber ChonkyABG's Cupertino Part 1 vlog, the kids picked it for our belated Mother's Day celebration. Our party of 8 arrived around 11:15am on a Sunday. No wait and they were able to push two tables together so we could all dine with each other. Order by QR code, which was a little awkward for so many people and so many options to choose from! By the time we left, there were people waiting out the door. Go early! We anticipated it would be spicy since it was Sichuan cuisine, but were happy to see you could customize the spice! We were stoked to order "original", which is no spice and mild for our weak ass Cantonese tolerance. Everyone seemed happy with their dishes. I ordered the house special beef rib noodle soup with blanket noodles, "original", and it came out looking hella spicy. I was scared! But it was mild and so tasty. The noodle is one loooooooong and wide handmade noodle which was chewy and satisfying. The beef rib was super tender and fall off the bone. Broth was delish too! Why have a wait list if you aren't even going to check it??? Put our name down after another group of three and a group of two put their name down after us. We stood outside because it was so hot inside and watched as the group of two went inside and got seated at the countertop by the window. Thinking it was because it was just two, didn't say anything. Watched a group of three walk in and immediately get seated. Nope. Walked in and let them know. My friend thought they were going to make that group leave to let us sit but we said we would just wait for another table to open up. No real apologies. Just a little panic from their guy. I don't expect free things, but I at least expect some kind of genuine apology. Really put me in a bad mood before the food came out. Watched them help move other groups to larger to tables when they opened up but they did not do the same for us. Food wise? Not even impressive. I've had better beef noodle soup. The noodle was nice and chewy tho! The pan fried buns were too oily and less flavorful. The wontons in chili oil was more like wontons in chili oil soup. I've definitely had better wontons. The pork dan dan noodles were also average. If the food was better, I would've considered coming back but not happening. I found CQ Taste while browsing Yelp for noodle soup. We arrived around 7:30 PM during the dinner rush and had a short wait before being seated by the window near the front door. Our table could fit four people, but it was tall, narrow, and quite wobbly; any small movement would shake the whole table. We ordered one dry noodle dish and one soup dish. The dry dish arrived pretty quickly, but my husband was already more than halfway finished with his meal before my soup finally came out. I had to check with the waiter a couple of times about it. That said, both dishes were very flavorful and delicious. The noodles in the dry dish were especially well made, while the noodles in the soup were slightly overcooked and kept breaking apart when I tried picking them up with chopsticks. Solid spot for some hand cut/ hand pulled noodles! CQ Taste is in a very busy plaza with tons of other eateries and businesses. Parking can get tough, especially during the evenings and weekends. The place is filled with quite a few tables and you can waitlist on the paper if its full. Everything is ordered through the QR code on the table and brought out to you. Tastes: Chongqing Spicy Wonton in Red Oil - Solid wontons! I just thought there was a little too much oil for my liking. Had to eat these pretty quickly or they got really oily. I was very interested to try this place because it always looked crowded. The pugai noodle is their wide blanket noodle. I am usually a fan of thick noodles but I actually preferred the hand cut noodles instead. The blanket noodle was difficult to grab with chopsticks and had only one thickness. The hand cut noodles had texture contrast because some areas were more thick than others. Of the two soups, I liked the beef rib noodle soup more. The braised beef noodle soup had a bit of numbing spice flavor and also a faint taste of intestine? I don't like the flavor of intestine so that was a pass for me. This is a minimum service place. Server brings your fares to your table and that's pretty much it. You order via QR code, wait for your foods, stand up and pay for your tab. The claim of fame is 鋪蓋面 PuGai Noodles. It literally translates to "blanket noodles" Imagine Lasagna noodles used in Chinese cookings. I would say the texture was excellent, but it presented difficulty in handling. We order "slightly spicy" 牛肉麵 beef noodles and 老罈酸菜肉絲麵 Fermented Veg and Shredded Pork noodles. Both were spicy way above average. I was sweating rivers mid-way through my noodles. (And must went to the counter to get extra napkins). I would say the flavors were excellent, only the spiciness dominated the profile. The sides we ordered were deep fried pork sticks and pan fried buns. Both were meh. Our party of 3 came here on a Sunday evening and put our name down on their paper waitlist. There was a party of 3 before us and a party of 2 that came after us. Both those parties were seated so we assumed we'd be called next but before that could happen, a party of 3 came in. Before they even wrote their name down on the waitlist, the waiter gave them a table. When we saw that, we asked the waiter if we were called and he asked us if we even put our name down. We pointed it out and he seemed to start making excuses and tried asked if we wanted to be seated now (insinuating that he would kick the party out of their tables so we could sit). We said no so we waited another 10 minutes before being sat at a table made for 2 people next to the door which meant the sun was on us the entire meal. After we ordered through their website, it took a while before the food came out. The noodles were alright and chewy but the broth was nothing too special. Our chili oil wontons looked to have broth in it too which was weird to us as it made it so the oil/flavor didn't really stick to the wontons. I did really like their wide flag noodles though. The restaurant itself was also very hot to begin with and combined with the sun that was shining on us the entire time made it prey to unbearable. The shop is very small and packed with small tables. They did not follow their waitlist system and seemed pretty surprised when we confronted them about it. Saw this spot trending all over social media for their iconic pugai noodles, so we had to check it out! - Chongqing Pea & Minced Meat (with Pugai Noodles) - Pickled Cabbage & Shredded Pork (with Pugai Noodles) - Dandan (with Thin Noodles) - Spicy Wontons Realization: the pugai noodles are definitely better in soup since they don't clump up into a jumbled mess that way. The texture is super thin, almost like tofu skin, so it feels more suited to soaking up broth. It actually reminded me of a Kazakh dish called Beshbarmak, with those really wide noodle sheets that look similar. That said, I preferred the dry versions with thin noodles, and would probably order these pairings instead next time. Taste: Loved the flavors, but everything was pretty salty and heavy. We couldn't finish it all in one sitting, so we took it home and mixed it with extra noodles and leftovers, which turned out so good. Decent noodle spot, not as powerfully spicy or numbing as Chongqing food would be. Get it extra spicy if you want a closer experience. Expect to wait for a table around meal times. Inside is modern and comfortable - Spicy wontons: crowd pleasing dish. The wrappers are silky smooth and the pork inside is super tender. The pork is very ginger forward so beware if that fast is not for you. It comes with quite a bit of broth, which has good flavour. Surprisingly not too greasy. 5/5 - Chongqing style chicken: this was not what I expected. The actual dish looks far different from the QR ordering menu. The characteristics of this dish should be small pieces of chicken fried with a light coating, dry stir friend with chilis and sichuan peppercorns. This was not that, even though the menu image looked accurate. The chicken was chunky, slightly overcooked. There was quite a bit of sauce at the bottom and missed on the numbing spice. 2/5 - Dry peas and mixed meat with pugai noodles: this is a solid bowl of noodles. You get the rich fattiness of the meat, the softness of the peas, and a spicy sauce. The peas were cooked until they were barely holding together, which added to the creamy feel. The puglia noodles are like large torn handkerchiefs. They are a little cumbersome to eat, and if you still want the toothy mouthfeel, I would go with the regular hand cut noodles. 4/5 - House special roast beef with hand cut noodles: even though we order the dish with original spicy, it arrived with no spice. The broth was moderately delicate, and not fatty. Beef was fall apart tender. However, again, this dish was not like the photo. The photo shows both chunks and slices of braised beef with some tendon, covering almost the whole surface of the bowl. The reality was 4 measly chunks. These is also not any veg in this dish. Super tasty Chinese style noodles! Inside is very simple and a little on the smaller side. I got the house beef noodle original spice level and with hand cut noodles and it didn't feel overly spicy. It was the perfect amount. The noodles were nice and chewy with a good bite. They are very well known for their wide noodles which is thin and soft. If you like this style of noodles, would definitely give it a try! There was a 10-20min wait around 2pm on a Saturday. They manage it all my traditional pen and paper. If you call in ahead, they are nice enough to put your name down on the waitlist if it's busy. Only issue was that they forgot my order and I had to wait a while after my table got their food already. It probably never would have gone out unless I grabbed one of the workers there. As it's fast service, ordering in the QR, they aren't really consistently checking with your table if everything is fine, you gotta flag someone down if you need something. read more

Finally found a Szechuan noodle place that serves great tasting noodles. I can't tell if it's authentic or not but the noodles have depth and layers of flavors not just spice. I especially like the dry version of their signature wide noodles with chili oil, minced pork, and chickpeas (spicy, order mild version unless you're really confident with your spice tolerance). Their beef noodle soup also tastes great though the beef is not as tender as DTF's. There's usually a line so go there and write down your name to get a seat (line moves fairly quick). They specialize in hand making a less common type of especially wide and flat noodle from chongqing that can be translated to "blanket" noodles, or "cover". They actually do offer other types of handmade noodles too. Inside was clean, service was fast and especially attentive, they had someone walking around with fresh bottle of cold water checking to see if any table was perishing from the spice levels (chongqing is known as china's capital of intense spiciness). They had three to four levels of spiciness, original means no spiciness. I'm used to spicy food and thought the "spicy" level one level down from most spicy was not super spicy and I would get extra spicy next time for it to be more at Chongqing levels. I am so glad this place opened up because the chongqing pea and minced meat noodles are very similar to the ones I had in Chongqing, except the spice level at mild is much more tolerable. My boyfriend got the beef noodle soup, and we both agreed that the chongqing pea and minced meat noodles are much better. The fried chicken with chili and sichuan peppers was just okay. Food is delicious but the wait is unbelievably long. We got the house special and the chicken one. The chicken had such flavor I'll probably get that again over the house special. Good amount of seating for mainly 2-4 people. The wait for the noodles takes a really long time. From when we started to wait in line to when we got food was an hour (20 mins in line but 40 mins to get food). I'm not sure if something was wrong in the kitchen but there were like 4-5 tables that had people scrolling on their phones since the food wasn't coming out. The restaurant was closed at this point (since it closes at 3). I'd definitely come again but just keeping in mind the wait may be long.
