Exactly what I wanted. Not only was the food delicious, but the service was wonderful. They are so efficient with bringing your food when it's done being cooked- hot and fresh, cleaning tables after every guest, packing your left overs in to-go containers and checking you out. The staff work well as a team. We ordered the beef braised knife cut noodles, pork buns, spicy wontons and cucumber salad. Scrumptious.

Great little spot for hand pulled noodles. The parking lot was a bit tight and I didn't realize they had lots of other locations around the Bay (Santa Clara, Mountain View, Palo Alto, San Mateo, Fremont, Berkeley). We did takeout and there was a crowd waiting and checking in. Popular spot. The food was great - I enjoyed my chili oil noodles. The flavor popped and the wide noodles in the dish were notable. My son's noodles were even wider and he really liked his soup. Good place. Authentic.

Overall, this scratched the itch for hand pulled noodles but nothing blew me away. My boyfriend ordered the spicy ground pork dry noodles and I ordered the chili oil noodles with braised beef, and we shared the popcorn chicken. I thought the portion sizes were generous (I ordered extra beef on my dish in anticipation of there being a small amount of meat), and the noodles tasted fresh and densely satisfying. However, the beef was overly fatty in my opinion, and the chili oil felt a little flat (I feel like chili oil wontons have more layers of flavor). The popcorn chicken was also a big portion size and crispy; we liked it but have also had more flavorful or interesting popcorn chicken at other Chinese restaurants. As for service: we ordered on an app and our food came out within 5 minutes, despite being peak dinner time.

Really good beef noodles, broth is fragrant, chilli oil is authentic. Cucumber salad is probably the best in Bay Area too. Casual noodles place, usually not too busy.

Ox9 has been a family favorite and I always find myself coming back for a comforting bowl of beef noodle soup whenever I visit home in the Bay Area. Ox9 specializes in Lanzhou hand pulled noodles. They have different sizes of noodles ranging to thin to flat noodles. My favorite is the large flat noodles in the sichuan beef noodle soup. We visited on a Monday late afternoon and there were lots of seating options. Service was very quick and we got our food within 10 minutes of ordering. We also ordered the popcorn chicken, which was perfectly crispy and seasoned. We saw other tables order the beef chow mein (stir fry noodles) so we were influenced to try it as well. I was initially worried it would not be good as they specialize in noodle soups but we were so shocked that the noodles were SO GOOD. Despite being stir fried, the noodles were fresh and chewy, had the perfect amount of sauce and the beef was tender and soft. The portion size was also HUGE and we had lots of food to take home for dinner. Pricing was super reasonable, each dish was under $15 which is hard to find these days. Definitely one of my go to spots for an affordable and comfort meal!

Went here with my parents and they told me this is their favorite Chinese noodle place to go to! The 辣椒 is honesty delicious and I'm tempted to buy some from them to keep at home. They do hand pulled noodles here so you know you are getting good quality. I would definitely eat here again and it's for a decent price too! (under $20 pp)

$80 worth of sticky crappy noodles, broth, lots of cucumbers, barely any beef and cheap sauce. Rip-off
    Fred J.

Rip-off. $80 door dash. They cheaped out on the portions big time. If this is representative of the restaurant, don't go. if they cheap out on delivery knowing that you are stuck, then don't go because they're intentionally taking your money w/o fair product.

I would avoid ordering any noodle soups here unless you want it with a hearty side of ingested microplastics! We stopped by here for dinner looking for some tasty noods. The interior and service is kind of classic no-frills Chinese restaurant. We ordered the Chili Oil Noodles and Mala Beef Noodle Soup. Chili Oil Noodles (5/5): This one is lathered and drenched in bright red savory chili oil, balanced by a nice dosage of acidic vinegar. There's a fast food chow mein flavor that I think goes well with the dish. Noodles are wide and voluptuously bouncy as well! Mala Beef Noodle Soup (1/5): This dish was a disaster. The steaming hot, greasy soup comes served in a CHEAP plastic bowl. I'm talking that really low-quality plastic that sounds hollow and light if you tap it. I don't think serving such a hot bowl of greasy soup in a bowl like this is a good idea, talk about microplastics! Besides that, the meat was tough and the soup just tasted like mala from an instant packet. It was just a big pool of lifeless grease. Overall, chili oil noodles are good but avoid the mala beef noodle soup.

Been going here for a year. Very nice, flavorful broth and chewy noodles, which I love. Beef is tender, but portion size has seemed to gone down. You order on your phone and the food comes out very quickly. Their marinated cucumbers are also very good. Overall, one of my go to spots for comfort food.

This place is so good. I have been kind of in the mood for hand-pulled noodles since going to Season's Noodles in Mountain View. This location is a bit closer to San Jose. I did see they also have a spot in Valley Fair, but this one is way easier for parking. We showed up about 10 minutes to 5 for an early dinner, but they don't actually open until 5. You walk in and take a seat. Then you order from your phone, and the food comes out pretty quickly. It's not a lot of fancy ambiance, but it did seem like the focus is on the fast and delicious food. I got the original #1 dish, which is a beef broth with hand-pulled noodles. I got the flat wide noodles, and they were excellent. They have chili oil and other condiments on the table if you want to add more spice to your soup. The serving size is really generous. We also tried the garlic cucumber, which was really delicious, and the spicy wontons, which I saw recommended on Yelp. I will definitely be back when I'm craving noodles.

***USP: hand pulled noodle based dishes. Handful of vegetarian options as well. ***AMBIANCE: seating is along a narrow corridor but opens up a bit at the far end of restaurant. Can have a wait time but lines move quickly. The kitchen has open glass windows allowing us to enjoy the hand pulling action. ***FOOD: I understand some items are authentically greasy but every dish we got was very greasy including the chowmein. *Popcorn chicken : 3.5/5: had surprisingly small cuts of chicken and almost resembled the size of actual pop corn. Quantity was humongous as well. *mung bean noodles with garlic sauce:3/5: we didn't realize this dish would be cold or that it came with an oil based sauce. *chilli oil noodles:3.5/5: we were expecting this dish to be oily. Though it was tossed in chilli oil, it wasn't very greasy. Pretty enjoyable. *chicken chowmein:4/5: extremely greasy, chicken was well cooked and soft. It lacked flavor though.

    C.2 Spicy Pig Ears
    Don L.

Food was bomb and perfectly seasoned. Noodles tasted fresh, spice level was perfect with a scoop of their house made chili crisp, and the spicy pig ears were so addicting. Service was excellent and they kept refilling our waters and checking up on us. Awesome meal in Cupertino. Will definitely come back.

I've heard great things about Ox 9 and had been meaning to visit for ages, but overall found it just okay. We got there around noon on a Saturday, and had to wait around 40 minutes, including a 20 minute wait to be seated even after they'd called us back to tell us our table was ready. We shared; - LANZHOU HAND-PULLED NOODLES: The ratio of beef to noodles was disappointing, and the small flat noodles got too soft in the soup and mushed together. We also got these non-spicy which might be why they were bland - BOILED PORK DUMPLINGS - These were ok -- basic and inoffensive. - SOYBEAN PASTE NOODLES: I really liked the QQ chew of the medium round noodles, but as an overall dish this was pretty one note, with barely any vegetables - PORK SANDWICH: Honestly this was probably the best thing we got

Ordering was made easy with the QR code being there for the electronic menu. I tried a unique sugarcane juice that had a lot of medicinal herbs which gave it a unique taste. It did come in a clay pot and was still sizzling as it came to my table. The chicken was so tender and the mushrooms were very juicy. The rice towards the end had become crispy. The portions were huge. The only unfortunate thing was the lack of a sauce. I'm very used to clay pot rice restaurants having a sauce that could seep towards the bottom with the crispy rice. I had to use soy sauce. The service was wonderful, and I'd definitely come back because there were other items I was eyeing. I didn't even have appetizers!

The claypot rice itself without their seasoning sauce is a bit bland but that's why you season it to your liking. The eggplant was cooked well, with pieces of salted fish and chicken. The rice was fine, I liked the crispiness of the bottom. There wasn't anything too special about this claypot rice, I just think it's okay coming from someone who is cantonese. However, happy to see that there is a claypot place in San Jose.

Apparently a lot of the legs on some of the tables and benches are wobbly so they put things under to balance it. The servers told us to move it back under the table since we pushed the table out to sit into the bench. My mom is older and she has a hard time walking, she asked to switch to another table where the benches and tables were already spaced out properly because it is hard for her to bend down and move the things under the table legs. The server gave my mom an attitude and asked why two people couldn't fit into our current table.

Although the new Cupertino location is smaller than their previous spot, the food hasn't missed a beat. We started with the Taiwanese kimchi and century egg tofu with pork floss! both great appetizers that set the tone for the meal. For mains, we ordered the tendon beef soup, dry mixed noodles, and the peanut-braised pork feet. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and reminiscent of classic Taiwanese home-style cooking. The dishes leaned slightly on the sweeter side, which added to the nostalgic feel. The standout for me was the beef tendon braised soup! They do give a decent amount of beef though in this. 2.5/5* for the flavor but don't expect much from the noodles. The name is also really misleading because many Taiwanese restaurant use Grandma as the name. As a foodie this restaurant is legit. It's in a small plaza shared with another Taiwanese restaurant so parking can be difficult but there are plenty of street parking right next to the restaurant. The interior is clean and well organized. The service is prompt and good enough. They ask for reviews but didn't promise some freebie for a semi fake 5 star review which is great. I never leave a good review just for a freebie because my integrity is way more expensive than freebies. The food is phenomenal and authentic in every way. The frogs are tender and the spices are not overwhelming and brings out the flavor of the frog meat just right. The cured pork (pig face meat) is very rare in the states. It's also cured properly to give the authentic hunan flavor. They also mix it with raddish slices which is also rare in most Chinese restaurants here in the states. Even the conch with bamboo shots surprised me in how thin the slices of the conches are. It's also flavored without being too spicy nor too salty. Everything is on point. I do wish they used better white rice but that alone is not enough for me to take off any stars. This is just a wonderful restaurant that's on par with my favorite hunan restaurant in San Gabriel and I'm so glad I found it because I'm sure going to go back every week now.
