The best seafood takeout I think I've ever had! I wish I took pictures, but I just wanted to eat the food immediately when taking it back to the hotel! I ordered on Fridays night as well as Sunday night and had a great experience both times. Both the broil and fried combo platters are very filling. The mussels and clams in white sauce were smothered with garlic and herbs. The dishes came with a bunch of sauces on the side, however you have to ask for utensils (especially if your hotel room doesn't have any) as it's not included in the takeout bags. The service and the staff were absolutely accommodating however the food doesn't deserve the stars. Respectfully if you're looking for SEASONING & the traditional crab boil experience DON'T GO HERE!!! First of all, the atmosphere in this place was amazing. You can tell right away that it is a family owned and operated business. It has the mom and pop shop feel that I love, with pictures of family including our waitress who was kind and pleasant throughout our visit. Local, repeat customers came in and bantered with the man behind the counter who I can only assume is the owner. The mussels were to die for, and the blue crabs were cooked perfectly. I have to say the service and workers were great here. However, I was pretty disappointed in the food. My husband and I ordered lobster rolls and neither of us enjoyed them. We got clams and they were pretty sandy still. My daughter got spaghetti in red sauce and it just came in a greasy seafood sauce. She wasn't really able to eat it. She did eat the kids shrimp. My husband arrived at the time we were told to pickup our food, but the owner was obviously annoyed that he wasn't there sooner and scolded him and said, "I tried to call you!!". He was abrasive. This was our first time eating at the Crab & Seafood Shack and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing and everything is homemade. The owner, Joe takes great pride in his food ,buys all his seafood fresh and makes the food daily including the condiments. The restaurant has a nice mom and pop feel to it. Even though this was our first time eating there they made us feel like we were life long customers. The staff was also great, very personable and made sure you were waited on in a timely manner. My family and I went to dinner last night at this place, we decided to go because the reviews and stars they had were good, but the truth is we left with a bad taste in our mouths, the food was horrible, I ordered a pasta which was the main course and it was full of butter, which gave me a huge stomach ache, my sister ordered a seafood combo and for what it was worth it had very little and the fish and all the food felt old, nothing was fresh, bland flavors and for 3 dishes we ordered the bill came to $ 130 dollars, a bad experience, please do not go to this place you will have a bad and unpleasant experience and end up with a stomach ache. read more

I came here with a party of 8, and we were happy they could accommodate us on short notice. We originally wanted to go to dinner down the street, but of course the other larger establishment had a wait time. This place was definitely no-frills. A little aged with plastic utensils. I can only really describe it as local-ish. Fox News was on the television, they were blaring oldies, and Freedom fries were listed on the menu. It's certainly a different vibe. Our waitress was nice and fairly attentive. As soon as we arrived she got us apple sauce for the toddlers at the table and came relatively quickly when we requested items. I just wasn't blown away by the food. I had the crab cake sandwich, which was about $20. It featured 2 sides but they were the blandest corn and string beans I've ever tasted. The crab cake itself sadly lacked flavors too. I don't know how you can give some one green beans out of a can and not even at least doctor them up. And at least the crab cake could have had more meat. It was a small lump on a hamburger bun, swallowed up by a lettuce leaf. The only delight were the French, excuse me, Freedom fries. Some in my group seemed to like their food, so that elevates their rating in my eyes to 2 stars, but for the money paid (and it was a lot), and the sheer lack of seasoning, I cannot give anything more than that. read more

Very solid post-beach seafood option. We came an hour to closing but the staff was friendly and showed us to a table quickly. It's definitely a family establishment, with teenagers helping to wait tables and deliver food. We ordered the garlic crab app and two single lobster rolls. Our server pointed out that it was a better deal to get the two lobster roll dinner which comes with fries and coleslaw. While we didn't need to fries, I appreciate that she pointed out the better deal. Lobster rolls were decent, not the best I've had but still good. We were looking for crab legs and found this place. It was run by a family and the service was very good. I am a crab leg expert but a blue crab beginner and it showed! If you've never had one of these, the owner will be more than happy to show you how to do it. The crabs were immersed in old bay and very tasty but involved plenty of work. We had a wonderful dinner tonight & Joe was a star. I had a large order, and he was so careful to make sure to get everything right. Highlights of our meal were the broiled flounder and shrimp/scallops and the large order of steamers. However, the fried crab cake and scallops entree was amazing... scallops were so juicy & the crab cakes (nary a shell) were fresh tasting and hardly any filler. I saw so many good reviews for this place I've been passing by for years so I finally decided to stop in. It's everything previous reviewers have lauded it for. The selection was large. The service was friendly. And the seating was rather comfortable for a casual eatery. That's important to me because I am a slow eater and like to sit and savor if no one else is waiting. Luckily when I arrived around 7:30 PM on a Tuesday after Labor Day, it was uncrowded so I could linger in the oversized, 1970'sish wooden captains chairs. Make no mistake, this place is not the Ritz but it is really good in all the important ways. There are 8 tables for 4 and they can be pushed together for larger parties. Service was kind of slow. I wasn't offered a cup of ice with my can of soda but she brought me one when I asked. So I can't give it a 5 but I hope I can next summer. I found a lot of seafood places in Wildwood are takeout based. While Crab and Seafood Shack also offer take out, there dining room was more robust than others. This is not a fancy spot, but the seafood is legit. We arrived later in the evening and unfortunately were limited in soup options. Luckily, I was able to order my New England Clam chowder, which was as good as anywhere else I've ever had clam chowder. I couldn't make up my mind, so luckily they had a seafood broil. It came with crab cake, shrimp, clams, scallops and a piece of flounder. The scallops and crab cake were the winners. The flounder was super thin without a ton of flavor. I liked that their side options included some veggies. I had to go with the Jersey corn on the cob and applesauce. Our server was super friendly, and it was nice that it was a family business. The disastrous front of house deserves a -9 star. As a consistent and non-bias yelper, even giving them some slack as it's Memorial Day weekend for getting swamped I have to say this place by far was the worst, it deserves to be in Kitchen Nightmare. I've never been to a more dysfunctional restaurant with so much confusion. Basically everyone goes thru Joe, the owner, the guy on the phone, the one holding everything down. You got folks all in the front like deer in the headlights not sure what they're doing just standing there. I was told by Joe there's a 30 minute wait for sit in and 1 hour for food for take out. We went there 6pm, it took over an hour and half to be seated. In fact we had to go in and threaten to leave before we got a seat. I was told we'd get a call but I never got called. Further, once we sat down nobody asked or gave us water. We just sat and waited..wait wait wait. We didn't get our food and get out until almost 9pm. In fact I think it only took us 20 mins to eat so over 2 hours was just waiting. Now if the food was great that would be another thing. We got bread and then asked for more and got microwaved bread. See my photo. Who microwaves bread? Anyone with common sense would know never microwave bread it becomes stale and inedible. Also the lobster roll is the best in wildwood? Maybe the worst. It's cold! How do you serve cold lobster rolls. Not sure where these cold lobsters are from but it's definitely not fresh maybe frozen. Plus $18? With tax and tip you'd think a $20+ lobster roll would be buttery, savory, hot. Completely opposite. Also they gave us a pile of cold crab meat. I don't want canned cold crabs, you guys eat it. The only saving grace was the pasta sauce and clam chowder was actually not bad. The chowder was hot, plenty of clams and the pasta sauce was pretty flavorful. Wish they had scallops but they ran out. Lastly, save the environment will you? Never been to a "restaurant" where I was served using plastic utensils, paper plates and foil trays. If you're going to charge restaurant prices and require tip, you should actually use plates and service folks. My scoring was -1 points for lack of service, cold lobsters/crab meat, and -1 for overpriced food. I should give it a 1 star but they get one point for the pasta and clam chowder. This plate should just stop making it a restaurant, make it a takeout only, fire all the wait staff and just hire more chefs and work on improving the seafood quality and food to reduce costs. Spent $60+, totally bad experience. I wish all you tourists just go and spend your money elsewhere or just order take out. I spent 3 hours here and ended up wishing I just went to Red Lobster at this point. read more

It took a decent amount of time to get our food, but it was worth the wait, the food was fresh and delicious, so be patient.
