Great little family owned establishment. Let me start by saying we are out of town era and have no affiliation with the restaurant. We stumbled upon it because it was close to our hotel. It is mostly take out. There are two tables, one seats 2 and the other seats 4. It is run 7 days a week by the 80 year old owner, Al and his young grandson who is maybe 12. Al is a little bit of a grump but it adds to the atmosphere. They serve fresh local crab and other seafood. We were allowed to pick out our own crabs which we very fresh (still alive in fact). Having never eaten blue crab the grandson taught us how. We had a dozen of the "medium-large" size with an order of 12 clams and side of potato salad. That with two drinks was $68 but that's to be expected and still cheaper crab than most places around. I noticed they did not have many pictures on yelp so I took a bunch. read more

Great selection on seafood especially crabs. They had a nice variety of sizes at great prices per dozen. Very friendly staff and fast service. We were down the week of Labor day and most places were only open on weekends. They are open daily. Wow!!! Just came off the beach and we were all craving seafood. Called in an order and in less than 20 minutes it was ready. Probably the best shrimp I've ever eaten! Fantastic Crabs and Great Service. I was a little hesitant about this place at first because of a couple of 1-star reviews. However, I can say that my experience was radically different. I walked in and ordered a dozen crabs, and he asked politely if I would mind waiting 18 minutes. My wife and I waited. This place is a hidden gem. I ordered the crab cake sandwich meal. It was accompanied by a generous portion of homemade potato salad and cole slaw. I waited inside and the friendly staff chatted with me meal while I waited for my meal. The meal was only 12.90 and was absolutely delicious. I randomly called and decided to visit the crab spot. Crab prices over the phone were reasonable and worth the stop in to see what's cooking. I was shown a large crab that was reasonable. I've learned that with crabs, the sizes and weights vary, however a large crab is typically more distinctive from a medium- so these were reasonable - from claw to claw. Boy am I glad I choose this spot, I love crabs that have spices but not salty - it's a balance that this family business has mastered over the decades. Those crabs were delicious all the way to the claw meat. They weren't over done at all - just the right texture, juiciness, crab meat and spice. We also ordered a soft shell crab sandwich for my daughter who is on her third sandwich this week from three different places - guess what she said- hands down! Best one so far.. 2 small soft shell crabs lettuce tomato on bread with choice of a small side. Customer service was pleasant. It's a small storefront- nothing fancy and they have parking. My husband and I were in OC this past labor day weekend ! Decided to try this place to get away from the "hordes" and "trough" like eateries. Can't begin to tell you how good the food was! We stopped in for lunch and saw the sign for a "Crab Sandwich Combo" (also had flounder fillet sandwich) . But we went for the "crab". It was awesome ! Cooked and prepared to perfection. The crab cake was delicious and not as some places tend to fry in great vats of oil; this was truly awesome. The potato salad tasted homemade. Great food all around! However I think it was so wonderful that the owner came out as we were finishing and sat with us . We had a wonderful conversation and enjoyed the conversation immensely. We have been to OC for the past 30+ years for Labor Day and I am SO sorry we never found this place. But never fear we will be back next year! read more

Absolutely recommend this place. Not only is the crab amazing but the owner is one of the best people to talk with. Spent time talking with him while he was steaming us fresh crab. He even allowed me to taste the spices he uses so I could decide if I wanted to buy some. I did! Awesome! Just talking with him and learning about his life for the hour or so we were there was the highlight of my day. Today while on a jog I ran into this place, a few hours later went back in to give them my business!!! And I must say if it wasn't for the young lady I would've left and never returned!!! The order was completely wrong and the sales guy thought he could get away with charging us an extreme amount for medium crabs which was not quoted on the order. The crabcakes we ordered were full of shells and the crabs were def. smalls, not mediums. Don't let the smallness of this place fool you. With only one table inside and one outside, this is a treasure. These were the BEST crab cakes we have ever had. Certainly beats the overpriced ones we had the previous night at Phillips Seafood Rest. for a fraction of the price. The Shrimp Salad was also fantastic.
