Really wasn't sure what to expect because most of the restaurant is out back of the buy and go shrimp boat out front. It was really cute and the waitress was so helpful with deals and recs for food. Came here today with my daughter visiting from Okinawa. We had once again a wonderful experience! Server was excellent, friendly and fast. Seafood boil came with clams, muscles, clams, potato, sausage, corn, and shrimp. All the food tasted fresh. It came with stick butter as well as melted butter. I also asked for dry seasoning on the side. I got the mango Margarita, it would have been a little sweeter and a little stronger for the size. The Shrimp Boat is another one of our regular stops when staying in Berlin on vacation. It's not luxurious and there are no water views, but it's away from the hustle and bustle and crowds of Ocean City. The seafood is always good and they have a great happy hour 3-5pm (half price anything shrimp and half price drinks). We stopped in for lunch this year after spending the morning on Assateague. We had Bloody Marys and Orange Crushes. I've always enjoyed The Shrimp Boat's Bloody Mary as the mix they use is very good. In the past they'd serve their Bloody Mary with 2 head on shrimp (the same shrimp they provide complementary (1 per guest) upon arrival) along with a crab claw. I guess the crab claw is no longer included which was a little disappointing. We also weren't really fans of the big straws and crushed ice as each sip provided a mouthful of ice. The drinks, as always, were very good. We each ordered a sandwich as we had dinner plans later on. I had a burger, and for a restaurant that specializes in seafood, I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't the best burger I've ever had but it certainly wasn't bad. My dad ordered a fried flounder sandwich and my mom had the crab cake sandwich, each of which we've ordered plenty of times before and things you can't go wrong with here. The sandwiches are served with fabulous house cut fries. One of these days I'll stop in for $1.99 crabs. I've been saying it each year I'm in the area and I still have yet to order them. I came here for lunch on a Friday with a party of 5 and there was no inside seating, so we were seated outside. There was a roof and electric fans that provided shade and cool air to combat the sweltering afternoon heat. Food: the shrimp were large, juicy, and very flavorful. We also ordered the crab melt and lobster roll. The crab melt was packed with fresh crab meat between two thin sandwich slices, which is also a great ratio. The crab meat tasted very fresh and did not have any fishy smell/flavor. The lobster roll was on the smaller side compared to other rolls I've had at other restaurants, however, the big chunks of lobster meat were juicy and had a good bite to them, yet not too chewy. I've never commented on the water at any other restaurant, but I must say that our whole group agreed that the water had a very metallic aftertaste. If you do sit outside, be aware of the surplus of flies under the table and on your food. But they are small and they are re-steamed which makes them mushy. I say they are re-steamed because they were brought them out in minutes everywhere around us. Can't be keeping that many fresh steamed all day. The diet soda tasted like rust to me. I don't know what the problem is but Pepsi or Coke should help them get that figured out. If I was coke or Pepsi and it's a water or filtration problem , I wouldn't want them serving my product. Staff was friendly but not very attentive. Even after waiting for a drink refill, she said I'll get you one and proceeded to walk around and then talk with other servers. Finally dawned on her about 10 minutes later. Since my last review was yearssss ago, posting a new one. We were concerned about this place. We've been coming here every year on our assateague camping trip. We missed last year due to Covid and I think the weekend we booked got rained out. Turns out they've been thriving on takeout and we're so glad!!! Food still amazing. Staff still extra friendly. They let our rowdy French Bulldogs sit outside with us. Their seating expanded to the back and their menu has also expanded! I'm so glad. This place is a staple of the area and a gem (and I love how some things stay the same, like the sea salt scrub in the bathroom :). We hope it is here for years to come so we can visit and eat here. My family and I have a tradition each year during our summer vacation to visit the Shrimp Boat Restaurant in OC MD. Sadly, this year will be our last. From the beginning, the complimentary shrimp was all mush, and the oysters had shell chips throughout. Even the green beans were over cooked and doused with pepper. We ordered the same dishes from our first visit: soft shell sandwich & chesapeake burger w/a side of hush puppies & added on coleslaw. When we picked up our food this time, it was evident how busy they were; there were plenty of people dining at a distance and a few waiting on to-go orders & this increased quantity of orders-led to reduced quality of our meals. So I took a star away from my review, but only one star They still offer a large variety of meals, with delicious sides, at cheap prices-so while they did drop in quality-it was still worth the visit. I just wish my sandwich lived up to the memory & taste of my first visit. The soft shell crab was quite smaller, the construction of the sandwich was sloppy, with less toppings (and when I asked for mayo & tartar sauce on the side they tried to nickel & dime each sauce as an add-on...pass). The burger had a lot less topping than our first time, and they didn't bother putting on cheese like last time I do worry in the peak of the summer what dishes will be like, but I'll give it another shot. read more

I have driven past here multiple times (my sister lives in ocean city during the off season and on assateague island during the season) and always assumed it was just a raw seafood stand. Until I looked up blue crabs near me and a Facebook ad for 1.99 crabs popped up. I came today to try them out. I walked in and was greeted by the host and requested an outside table. To start the table she sat me at was amazing, but was huge for just me and I immediately felt bad for the server (I'm a bartender/server and know what a one top usually is). The server came and was super sweet and I ordered my food and drink- orange crush, 6 crabs, 6 oysters raw, 1/2 pound shrimp, and a side of garlic potatoes. The crabs and potatoes came out within 5 minutes. The crabs were clean and fresh and were super heavy. I ordered 6 more quickly after. I ate those crabs and my oysters and shrimp came out a bit after. The oysters were nicely shucked but had a very plain taste. They were extremely clean so I assume they rinse and clean them after shucking. The boat shrimp were super tasty but we're a bit over cooked and I wish they had the heads. Either way they were vey good. Overall the star of the show was the crabs. My server Ashleigh was fabulous and on top of things. I've never been here but will definitely be back and if the crab prices stay this low for amazing quality I will only come here!! read more

Where do I start... first, the "broiled" crab cake was SO small AND dried out, no taste at all . The Ahi Tuna Tacos were bland, literally NO taste at all . My husband who never complains only ate one and a half of the three tacos. The "cuke" salad tasted days old . The fried green beans come in a basket..you do not get nearly the amount as in the past. Needless to say, we will not go back and will not recommend this place anymore. As for the waitress, she just kept saying "everything is so good here", she wasn't entertaining our response to our distaste of the food, nor did she seem empathetic.
