We've been coming to St.Pete for a dozen years and had never set foot into Crabby Bills until today. I'm glad we rectified that mistake. For starters, our server was a rock star. She gave us great recommendations that were spot on. She even tipped us on grilled vs darkened, which also turned out to be absolutely correct. My son and I had the special of the day which was a large cut of Mahi Mahi, a skewer of shrimp and two sides. I figured the Mahi would be the main attraction, but the shrimp was delicious. My son had the darkened Mahi, which was a lot better than my grilled, just as our server had recommended. We enjoyed our first visit so much that we came back the next day for Thanksgiving. This time I had the grouper Reuben..'the grouben'..which isn't on the menu but is available. Both of the servers that we had said that this was the house favorite. They weren't wrong! Crabby Bills is an iconic restaurant. It was many years since I dined there until today. The restaurant has a loud, touristy vibe. My margarita tasted like it was made with a cheap mixer. My partner's sangria was slightly better. Our food came out quickly and our server was efficient. We had a cup of the clam chowder, which was not hot enough and overly salty, but flavorful. I ordered the mahi-mahi which was very tasty and had two good size portions along with mashed potatoes and green beans. My partner had the fried shrimp with french fries and coleslaw. It was good except the coleslaw, which was literally swimming in the dressing. We also had a piece of the Keylime pie, which was not quite sweet enough. Way too expensive for the lackluster service, that we were given. We come once a year, for 20 plus years. But if the "Crabby" attitude is the new way the servers are going to act, we will skip next year. Left the tip, because we know it's a tourist area but we were very disappointed in the attitude of the server and restaurant. Alright, down here in St Pete, you know you're gonna have great food. Me typically, I have to be in the mood for seafood. So I got the BBQ Chicken Melt, and I will say, it was pretty good. The only thing I didn't like were the onions, something about them didn't appeal to me, they just have been caramelized or something, but besides that, it was pretty good. I do recommend that they should disclose EVEYTHING that's on the dish before it is ordered. My dad ordered the Crab Legs, and this is pretty much the only seafood that doesn't matter what mood I'm in, I"ll eat it. Greatness. Named Crabby Bills for a reason. I waited tables through high school and college so I know a little about the restaurant business. We had probably one of the best servers I've ever had. Josh was personable and hustled like no tomorrow. The place was insanely busy. We drove over 900 miles to take a vacation and this was our first visit to Crabby Bills. It also took our server 10-15 minutes to get our table waters after we ordered them, and only gave us refills after we asked (all of our waters were empty). This is a good place for a casual meal on the beach. We went early (5:30ish) on Memorial Day. We did not have reservations, but they were able to seat us immediately. We weren't right on the picture windows, but we still had a nice view. The food and beverages were... fine. They had a bunch of $5 drink specials, so that's the level/quality to expect. I had their pineapple jalapeno margarita, and it was potable and didn't give me a hangover, but it definitely didn't taste like quality tequila or juice. We started with the crab cake and the fried calamari. They were all fine, but nothing special. I had a cup of clam chowder and the blackened grouper tacos. Again, they provided me with calories, and they were seafood, but they were definitely not destination dishes. That being said, our seats were comfortable, we were on the beach, there was a roomy parking lot, and the food was fine. I didn't get sick. It was a more affordable meal that I had on other nights eating in this touristy destination. So if you're looking for an uncomplicated meal that doesn't cost too much, this is as good a choice as any on this part of the beach. read more

This is a favorite of mine in Indian Rocks. My friend had a craving for raw oysters so that's what she ordered as an appetizer. They were huge! My other friend ordered two orders of the garlic butter mussels. Yes, two orders. They're his all time favorite and he could probably eat more. When they were done with their appetizers, the two of them also ordered frog legs. I ordered the Bourbon BBQ Chicken. The Bourbon BBQ sauce was amazing! I dunked my chicken and my fries in it. I would have dunked my finger in it too, but decided it was not appropriate The fries and vegetables were delicious too. There is also an outside area to eat, but it was jam packed. I'm gonna lean on the 4 stars here.... I think it could be 3.5 if there was that option, but I think 4 is fair. 1. I read a review before going here stating that the place stinks. Well, I could see why they said that; the garbage bins are right in the parking lot! . The restaurant itself smelled great... like seafood, as it should. 2. I got the all you can eat crab special that they have on Thursdays. We just so happened to be there that day so it worked out great for me. For $75, I can definitely say that I got my moneys worth on that deal. Crab meat is my favorite seafood along with grouper! Speaking of grouper, my wife and I shared the grouper bites appetizer and we both thought it was solid. What wasn't solid was my wife's 'lulu friend chicken'. She said it was extremely salty but the sides of green beans and mac was really good. 3. The atmosphere. I liked it a lot. They have a nice little shop in there with merch, and with the establishment being right on the water... yeah, great feels. They were also playing awesome tunes from the 90s and early 2000's which brought a smile to my face at least. There was also a lady that was going around taking pictures and she offered a magnet and a printed picture for purchase, $25 and $12 perspectively. We got a magnet. 4. Ok, another review talked about the service. Now, I believe that what I'm about to say is due to management not scheduling enough servers and not on our server herself. She had quite a few tables and it was tough to even get refills on our drinks. We observed our server running round like crazy but didn't see a manager or anyone assisting her or any other server on the floor. Overall, I'd go back. Is it the best spot? I dunno, maybe for the area it is. Regardless, there could be improvements but what restaurant couldn't improve in areas? read more

I love the rooftop. I love the girls up there, but it is totally robbery. $17 for an old-fashioned in a plastic cup with small ice cubes and not even a black cherry in it. That is ridiculous. I could go to the Don Cesar and pay two dollars more and be a place to make Billy's rooftop look like a dump. read more

I've been to Crabby Bill's in Indian Rocks several times over many years. It's an iconic spot and one of my favorite seafood restaurants. Well, the St. Petersburg location is just as awesome. There's a beautiful upstairs deck overlooking the water. The indoor tables also offer a gorgeous view of the water. The food certainly did not disappoint. The fish and seafood taste super-fresh. And cooked perfectly. Even the French fries were tasty! Service was friendly and prompt. I'm so glad there's a St. Pete location of the legendary Crabby Bill's. read more

This restaurant has some amazing views. Yelp reservations are only in the main dining area on the 2nd floor not the rooftop. Rooftop you have to put your name down on a list. Highly recommend adding yourself to the 2nd floor list just because it started pouring and we ended up leaving the rooftop. Top floor includes a bar, tables and best views of the sunset. The staff here were amazing. Quick with the service and really friendly. We loved the lobster roll, fried grouper, fish tacos and half pound of shrimp. The fried grouper and tacos were perfect. Nice combination of flavors. The taco was filled of fried fish. We kept raving about the lobster roll. For around $25 these rolls were packed with fresh lump lobster meat. Prices here are fair and wait times can be a little long if you don't have a reservation. There is plenty of free parking on the first floor. Great place to catch a nice view and get some fresh seafood. read more

Nice trendy oceanfront restaurant. Lots of happy hour specials and daily specials. Service was painfully slow. Over ten minutes until we saw a waitress, we almost left. Another 10 minutes for water and to order. I order a soft shell crab sandwich and subbed mashed potatoes for fries. My friend had a hamburger ordered medium rare. It was VERY well down, solid brown all the way thru the patty. Sandwiches dropped but no mashed potatoes. Waitress said they were cooking. I was done with my sandwich when she brought the mashed potatoes, warning me hot plate. I put a little pepper on them and took a bite, literally had to spit them out on my plate, in front of my friend because they severely scalded the roof of my mouth. I have never in my life spit food out at a table. Obviously microwaved. Embarrassing but the scalding burn made it necessary. I let the waitress know to tell the back of the house what happened and she returned to tell me that they only steam them and that wouldn't have happened. WRONG response. Expensive lunch, poorly prepared food. A generous 2 stars. Go if you want a drink but I wouldn't eat here ever again. read more

We probably won't be back to crabby bills for a few reasons, but I'll start with what we did like. I got the crab legs and they were delicious, but that was the only part that was really good. A few things: 1. It smelled awful in there, like stinky feet. It was really hard to enjoy our food because it smelled so bad. 2. The ceiling was leaking near our table and there was a bucket with water on the floor. Seemed odd to sit so close 3. It was very expensive for what we got. Definitely not worth $100 for two people. My fiance got the fried scallops and said it was mostly breading. And the fries were all cold. I will say we did enjoy the slaw. All in all, we won't be back. read more
