Went last weekend. Some good things some meh. We had a few apps, groups cheek sliders, smoked fish spread, deviled eggs and we had a lobster roll. I also had the salt and vinegar martini, it was Ok. Would mint order it again. The frozen espresso was delicious. The grouper cheeks were good but you only get two. The deviled eggs with the fried oyster were great. The fish spread was just weird. Not a fan at all. Felt like it was mixed with oil instead of mayo or dairy. The lobster roll was disappointing for $40. Definitely not worth $40. Gordon Ramsey's lobster roll isn't even that much and it's phenomenal. The raw oysters were delicious. We got the "good" ones. Was trying to gouge out how oystered from Tampa Bay were the "better" ones. I would not eat anything out of Tampa Bay when I can get VA oysters for a better price. I have been wanting to try this place for a bit. Others say no air, can be hot but we were there on 107° day and it was fine. It is loud. They currently have happy hour 7 days a week from 3-6pm parking on street. Our server Nick was great! The Cheeky Lager is tasty and $4 during happy hour. Very good beer and bar selection, they have wine but I did not really look at the list. We shared the deviled eggs and watermelon feta salad. Both were great. We split 4oz, regular, lobster roll with fries and tiny two bites of cole slaw. Everything is fresh. No MP, all items priced fairly. Enjoy!! read more

I have been wanting to try this restaurant since it opened but could not convince my family to go since they did not have AC. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw they got AC and immediately asked my family to visit. We have gone several times since then and we LOVE it. We do make reservations, but there have been open tables for walk-ins each time we have gone. Service is top-notch. We have had the same server each time and he banters well with my family- which makes the experience even better. Now, for the food. I recommend going for happy hour, but we do not always eat that early. Happy hour has great deals on appetizers and drinks. I love their grouper cheek sliders and fish dip. The hot sauce on the table is a datil pepper sauce and so very good. My favorite entrees are the blackened grouper sandwich and the baja-style fish tacos. I really cant wait to try the burger, but I love the other items so much I have a hard time not ordering those each time I go. My husband enjoys oysters and does not trust them at many restaurants. He is willing to pay more for quality, fresh oysters. Cheeky's is the place to go for oysters. He ordered the "best" variety for raw and fell in love with them. He also really likes the lightly breaded and fried oysters. They are not greasy and perfectly cooked every time. Drinks are fantastic. I got a special on Kentucky Derby day, a mint julep and it was so tasty. I usually enjoy their mixed drinks and my husband mixes it up between beer and mixed drinks. Recommend all of them. Intrigued by the Salt & Vinegar martini, but have not tried it yet. The restaurant is usually loud, casual, and lively. I feel completely comfortable bringing my grandkids and not worrying about how loud they are. We love the 'old florida' feel and recommend trying this place. We are already regulars. read more

Overall, this experience was a 6.5 for me. A solid edition to the seafood scene in St. Pete but a bit pricey for the experience and definitely room for improvement with the food, flavors and service. I tried the Florida orange spiked tea, which reminded me of a classy long island in ways. It was delicious and well balanced -- 8.5/10. I was happy they had mocktails for my friends, too. It was a super inclusive menu overall. the fish tacos were substantial -- the fish was massive and so flavorful. A thick crispy shell of batter and moist, shiny and well-cooked fish on the inside. The fish was layered on top of a shredded lettuce/slaw/carrot mixture and a zesty, tangy sauce. loved this!! 8/10 I loved the texture, shape, length and crispy of the fries but sadly, my fries were super salty and it made them hard to eat. That might just be a one-off, don't let this deter you, the tacos were a standout. My friend tried the salmon dish and forced me to taste it. It was so unfortunate but the salmon was dry and lacked flavor. The only flavor I could taste was charred lemon and not in a balanced way, but in a sour way. Hush puppies were ok, nothing to write home about. Our waiter was cool! I hate having to ask for water :( but they were doing their best!!! The restaurant itself has a rustic maritime vibe, lots of wood and hanging fish and plank tables. I dig the vibe here! Casual, cute. A new addition to the downtown St. Pete area I was excited to try. We stopped in on a Sunday late afternoon to catch the tail end of their lunch happy hour special. The space is wide open with a ton of tables and bar area with a few picnic tables out front. Metered parking also out front with a couple free spots in the back. The food was pretty good. Especially for happy hour. The oysters and cornbread hush puppies especially. $1.50 an oyster with a great selection to choose from. The hush puppies came with a delicious guava jelly and butter that accompanied them well. The fish dip was okay. Pretty fishy for my liking. The smash burger was also okay. I did love the excessive amount of caramelized onions. And the fries were cooked to a crisp perfection. Unfortunately the service was underwhelming given it took our server 5 minutes to even acknowledge and greet us and that's because she was chatting with her friends a couple of tables down from us. Everything was absolutely amazing!! We had such a great time here from start to finish. The lobster roll was one of the best we've ever had, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The frozen cocktails were delicious and such a fun treat, definitely a must-try. Will caution this is only a partial review as it was just not enjoyable to get food with it being that hot so we just had drinks. We had two drinks. Both seemed to be a little pricey compared to other places in DTSP. Bartender was not very friendly and seemed like he didn't want to be there. Food was great and a really nice atmosphere, the food is the main show here, everything was tasty and came to the table pretty quickly, only downer was our server Zakary, this guy has zero personality and seemed pissed off that we were there, he never even came back to the table to see if we needed anything. I flagged down another server to get some salt, he did get us some drink reorders but definitely not on a timely basis, we spent 250+ bucks on lunch for five people, it funny how a server can bring down what was otherwise a great day out with family. We were looking for a new place where we could use our Resy Amex Pic and this was the only thing in the area that looked like real food. The other options being tapas, cocktail places or stuff that seemed less like food and more like something that is made to look good on yelp. Cheekys is a great super casual Florida sports bar that felt a lot like Shells when you walk it. Saturday night it was empty when we got there but much busier by about 7pm. Staff was fast and pleasant. We had the fried oysters, a burger, hush puppies and Key Lime pie. The food came quickly and was good but not incredible. I love seafood! I get stone crab every season. I got the stone crab at Cheeky's - so juicy and fresh. It tasted good with the horseradish sauce. I also had a shrimp poboy. The shrimp were very plump. Parking is at a premium, so plan accordingly - or bring a scooter. When we arrived, the place was absolutely packed, which usually bodes well for food but less so for service. It took a while to get our drinks, and when my Diet Coke finally came, it arrived in a warm can. Unfortunately, the glasses were too small to accommodate a full 12 oz pour, and the ice gave up immediately in the Florida heat. Lukewarm soda: not the vibe. Now, onto the food: Grouper Cheeks for the appetizer - these were the highlight. Lightly battered, perfectly crispy, and cooked to perfection. The remoulade leaned more mayo than expected, and the slaw it sat on was a little warm--oddly tucked beneath the cheeks like a mattress instead of on the side. Blackened Red Grouper Sandwich - A solid option. Served on a soft potato bun with pickled onion and a "special sauce" that tasted familiar in a good way. The fries? That's a personality test. These were ultra-crispy--great if you're into that, not so great if you prefer them a little tender. Fried Oyster Burger - Decadent and a little over the top in all the right ways. A cheddar smashburger meets fried oysters with garlic mayo and bibb lettuce on a sesame bun. It's a beast of a sandwich, and worth the indulgence. Service was friendly but slow. Our waitress was sweet but had a bit of a vendetta against our fries--tried to take them twice before actually succeeding the third time, mid-chew. Came for dinner after a beach day and the vibes were absolutely perfect. Excellent service, food, and overall atmosphere. We split the middle tier oysters and a lobster roll, both 10/10. It was trivia night as well which made the overall energy even better! My only note is that though this restaurant may appear like its indoors, its really an enclosed patio so be prepared to be a little warm though the fans really help. I had to scratch my itch, read: CRAVING!, for a Lobster roll, and as these are not inexpensive, I did my research prior to selecting a location to satisfy this craving. Well, so glad we chose Cheeky's - the reviews were absolutely correct! I had a "half pint Lobster Roll @ $23 (there is a larger one on the menu as well) and was not disappointed. As those of us who love lobster rolls would attest, the lobster is of course key LOL, but the roll too means everything. Absolutely delicious. All of it. We ordered two Cheeky Pint Drafts @ $5 each, and the Oysters Rockefeller to start @ $19. My husband ordered the fish & chips @ $24. Cheeky's serves everything up perfectly. We sat at the bar, and there were plenty of tables as well. Cheeky's has a wonderfully neighborly feel to it - comfortable and casual and as conversations drifted around this is clearly one of the fave spots in the area - and rightly so. Just grabbed lunch here with a group of coworkers. I paid $16 for a burger and fries, others paid $30 for a caesar salad and fries. The burger was tasty, fries were salty for my taste. Overall, It's a cute new spot with a great location and plenty of other things to walk to nearby. The prices are a bit much for the type of food they serve in my opinion. Unfortunately, the bar stools could definitely be more comfortable and are not adjustable to move in any way. The highlight was the grouper cheeks, which aren't an everyday item at other local spots, so they were quite a treat. The batter for both the grouper cheeks and the fried shrimp was really very well executed. As for drinks, was happy to see the only High Noon flavor they carry is peach, which happens to be my favorite. Ok so i really have mixed reviews on this restaurant. Went there today for the first time with my children and husband and the restaurant and service was amazing. The people are really nice. The restaurant is beautiful and in a great location. I recommend making a reservation if you can they have a few tables for reservations but everything else is kind of walk-in. Now onto the food, I really enjoyed a couple of the appetizers. One was the anchovies and butter and bread. That was really good. Something extremely different from the norm. The wings are pretty good as well. Now I feel like the shrimp and the fried oysters and the shrimp po boy was all under seasoned. It lacked flavor and it lacked salt. That was 6 people's opinion. It was super bland. Fried nicely. Not greasy at all but flavor was super lacking. The Smashburger was probably one of the best smash burgers I've ever had. It is phenomenal. Overall, I probably will come back just because the people were super cool and the Smashburger was amazing but the seafood lacked that special something to make me want to come specifically back to this restaurant for it. read more

Cheeky's is a new seafood restaurant that recently opened in Grand Central. We made a reservation and I had to secure with a CC and cancellation fee for no show. We went for a 7:30 rez and was seated promptly but waited a good 10 minutes before we got a server or water. The menu while offering lots of seafood choices and oysters was mostly fried and basic. I ordered the tuna special and hubby had the burger. My special was $35 so I had high expectations. My tuna was seared and the fried potatoes were delish but the broccolini was undercooked. The burger was good but nothing special. The place is cute and very casual. Nice bar and good martinis. Hopefully, they can improve staffing so waits aren't so long for service. My husband saw an ad for Cheeky's & we decided to check it out on our next downtown visit. There were 3 picnic tables for outdoor seating & indoor seating would accommodate many customers. Beautiful afternoon so we chose to sit outside. It was relaxed atmosphere, quick service & friendly staff. My husband ordered shrimp basket & I had seared salmon salad w/ sliced apples & lemon vinaigrette. Both meals were delicious, the fries were hot & crispy. The type of place you want to keep a secret... we got pretty much all the apps & didn't have a single thing we wouldn't order again. Favorite of mine were chargrilled oysters, full of flavor & not dry! My bf's would be the hush puppies, he explained them as light enough to eat as many as he wants and the honey butter (I think) dip was awesome. ALSO!! If you're a crazy gal like me & like a tequila dirty martini, they make the perfect one. This place is a great addition to the Grand Central District. Great laid back vibe with good seafood, some of it local. I wish they had more local oysters like Texas / Louisiana or Apalachicola. We got "good" and "better" oysters and we liked the "good" which are Blue Point more than the better option. The Blue Points were sweet and creamy with less brine than the others. Happy hour is a great option here with Blue Points at $18 a dozen. Their Paloma and margaritas were tasty also. The grouper cheeks were very good and just lightly breaded with a quick fry. Our server had a bit of an attitude when we mentioned we thought one of the 36 oysters we ordered went bad. Her response was "that happens sometimes, but I'm not discounting your bill". We weren't asking for a discount, but the business should not be ok with serving seafood that visually had gone bad. We got shell in quiet a few, so the shucking could have been a bit cleaner also. Overall a nice experience and we'd definitely go back, especially for happy hour 3-6. read more
