Stopped in for a late lunch today for our first visit. We went at an odd time (3ish) on a Wednesday and were the only diners. We'd visited the previous restaurants in this spot and neither lasted so we were interested to see the changes. The restaurant itself is styled beautifully, not what you'd expect in a suburban shopping center. We opted for the Brussels and the short rib grilled cheese. Both were great. The Brussels were sliced, the balsamic glaze was really great. The short rib came on sourdough and I had low expectations: usually short rib on sandwiches (in my experience) is either dry or soaks through the bread, this sandwich was perfect! The short rib was really tender and flavorful, the bread was toasted but still soft. Perhaps the unsung hero of the meal were the fries and the malt vinegar aioli! The fries were incredible and the accompanying aioli was perfectly tangy, we couldn't stop eating them in spite of being full. Overall we were really pleased with our meal! We will be back to try more of the menu. read more

Cypress restaurant offers creative and tasty cocktails, thoughtful and well prepared food, warm and friendly staff, and a really great value! We went recently and were very impressed, so when looking for a place to take my elderly parent, we decided to go back again. The staff were super kind and accommodating of his wheelchair, the drinks and food again-just super pleased, and I can't believe what a good value it is, especially at a time I find many restaurants to be overpriced! Highly recommend the tuna tartare and crab pretzel appetizers. The smoked fish and chips is seriously too much food (easily 3 meals)! And the salmon salad was also a huge winner. Honestly haven't been disappointed yet. I wish it was more popular, because it deserves a bigger crowd, but the space could get loud, so maybe I should be happy as it is. I've been here twice. Both times, the service felt a bit slow. The brunch I had was solid. For about $30pp we has waffles, eggs, grits and coffee between us for the first experience. I enjoyed it overall. Things came out fairly slow, but it was nice. The second time I ended up leaving without trying out lunch. I was at the bar for well over 10 minutes - no water/greeting etc. I like the decor, I hope they up the staff or find their groove. It has a lot of potential. This is in a plaza and worth stopping by if you're not on a tight schedule. read more

There's a reason this place was legitimately dead on Mother's Day. The service was terrible. They added gratuity to a 6 top, yet our server seemed to take 8 years just to get waters, drinks, etc. She was legitimately the worst server I've had in years.. The drinks took forever even though the restaurant was empty. if you're going to add gratuity, be a better server. The food took forever too despite how empty the restaurant was. It took 30 minutes after ordering appetizers (when the food runner brought out the other appetizers) for them to tell us they are out of the 3rd appetizer.. Again, the servers major error. Shoving 6 grown adults into a booth is also not the move when there's so many other tables available. Then when she brought the check we waited another 20 minutes just for her to come back around and pick it up. Again it was DEAD in there. We will never be back. Cypress is one of our new favorite spots. The food is consistently delicious and the service is always efficient and friendly. We have come to love the crab corn chowder. We make special trips just for the chowder alone. The tables are comfortable and the ambiance is quiet and cozy. I would highly recommend this restaurant to couples, singles, business meals, etc. looking forward to our next visit. read more

This was the former Sullivan cove. I do have hopes for Cypress but there are a few misses. The service was good the ambiance was what was expected nice bar area too. The crab chowder was decent as was the fig salad. My husband got the mahi tacos they were good. The seasoned fries are Meh. We prefer regular fries even boardwalk style the seasoned fries are ok if that's what you like. I ordered the GRILLED PORTOBELLO MUSHROOM (GF & VGN) $24 Herbed risotto, charred tomatoes, asparagus, parsley walnut pesto. @cypress see photos that's not risotto it was an herbed rice. When I asked the waitstaff did they not have risotto ? She responded " that's risotto . Risotto is rice." No that's wrong. risotto is a creamy Arborio rice. This was so misleading and it was dry and off tasting. Please cypress fix the glitches. I really want this place to make it. We will go back and give it another try. The wine list is decent but the whole bottle wines are better choices that the by the glass doesn't offer. read more

Our waitress was Hayley. She recommend chicken prosciutto with apples, honey, arugula with garlic aioli. Sides we had were fries and tomato risotto. Appetizer was steak bites with horseradish sauce and goat cheese with balsamic on crostini. Every bite was amazing!!! I ordered the Caprese pizza which said nothing of balsamic and i hate balsamic so I would have said NO! See my photo of the menu...? Also my pizza tasted like a warmed up lunchable. I try to give benefit of the doubt but I just can't here. We were in a rush to pick up kids so i just ate it. My wife ordered the scallops and the polenta and spinach were cold. It only took 12 years of living in Pasadena Maryland, to find a restaurant that was clean, good service, and made a proper fish sandwich. On Saturday, Cypress did just that. The wife and I've been there three times with a kid, the food has been good all three times. The service has been good all three times. Terrible! Food took forever to come out, and it was cold. Sever kept forgetting things that I asked for, when bringing to her attention she said, "oh I remember but you were already finished eating". Steak was over cooked. Manager came out and just said sorry. Didn't ask for feed back or how they can improve. Nothing. Met a friend here to try Cypress for the first time. I was not sure what to expect, but it was a little more quiet than I expected which ended up being great for us. They are listed in OpenTable which worked out great for making a reservation ahead of time. First of all, the new decor including flooring, booths and tables, paint, lighting, etc is awesome. It's a little silly to say, but whoever did the remodel on this place did a fantastic job and it is so great looking. I love love loved all of the elements (hey, are they available to style/decorate my house?- haha). The bathrooms are adorable and clean too. The service was great. I was catching up with a friend so we didn't get to ordering very fast, but our server was attentive and our food came quickly. We had shrimp and grits and I had a Crabcake sandwich, both of which tasted great. Prices were definitely very fair. Overall, we had a really positive experience and I would be back. The ability to make a reservation ahead via OpenTable is a big positive to make it easier to return. I highly recommend! read more

Very disappointing experience. This location is fairly new, but the service was extremely poor. There was no one attending to customers, and the staff seemed far more interested in watching their phones than actually doing their jobs. We waited without acknowledgment and felt completely ignored throughout our meal If you're expecting attentive or even basic service, beware. Unfortunately, my husband and I had underwhelming experience here on a Friday night. We made a reservation but had to wait for 15 minutes to get seated. The waitress showed up 5 to 10 minutes after we got seated. Took her 15 minutes or so to let us know that the bar was "very behind" and thus our drinks would arrive "very soon". It took another 10 minutes until they brought out our drinks. We proceeded with ordering our appetizer- the crab dip - and our entrees - two salads. Took them about 20 minutes to bring out the crab dip, and then another 30 minutes or so for our salads to arrive. The crab dip was ok, a little on the greasy side. The steak on my husband's salad was cold and undercooked. The roasted fig salad I ordered did not have figs, with a tiny serving size, as if it was a side of garden greens. The waitress was apologetic and took both entrees off the final check. She offered to buy us desserts to make up for the wait, by now 1.5 hours. Unfortunately, both my husband and I lost all appetite and hopes on our dinner. We ended up leaving disappointed. read more

First time visiting Cypress. Surprised it wasn't busier. Nice interior upgrade and comfortable seating. We ordered the wings (appetizer) and salmon and steak for dinner. We had a couple margaritas each. The margaritas were good - especially the second as the first one was kind of weak - a little small though. The wings were excellent. The salmon was also excellent. Wow! When you walk in, you will immediately be impressed with the ambiance and aesthetic of the lovely booths and tables. So cozy and private. Our waiter was extremely attentive and patient as my friends and I were more interested in catching up than ordering. The food was solid. Nothing stood out, but nothing was terrible either. Really enjoyed dinner last night. First the service was good ( Sati?) but it did seem like additional staff would help. Next drinks were good but a little more muddling of the orange peel in the smoky ole fashion would be beneficial. The star of the dinner was PEI mussels in a tomato& chorizo sauce. Really excellent. Oyster on half shell were good but could have been a little bigger, especially oysters. The mussels had fennel which added to their appeal. Next the pork chop was great. All gone! And the Rockfish special with chili sauce was good but rockfish was dry and IMO overcooked. Overall, worth another visit. read more

On a Thursday night when the place is more than half empty, it should not take over an hour to not get the dinner we ordered at the bar. Neither bartender made eye contact without being waved down for drinks or food, or realized our dinner was missing until we said something after 45 minutes. I took three of my girlfriends back to Cypress Restaurant and we had amazing food tonight! We were a little hesitant to order the crabcake sandwich because we are crabcake snobs and it was delicious and I would absolutely get it again! The fries are always good and not drenched in oil. My friend loved the steak and blue cheese salad. I shared the Shobb salad with my friend and it was also amazing. I wish it would've had more shrimp on it, but it was very filling. It comes with the house vinaigrette, but I would recommend the honey vinaigrette instead. The ambience is amazing, the service was top-notch and we are probably going back for New Year's Eve. I wanted to love this place, but I have never felt more awkward leaving a restaurant. We were seated for our reservation and were looking over the menus. The restaurant has very nice decor, but there was no light over our table or on the table and it was incredibly dark during the meal. While taking drinks our waitress was distracted, even cutting my husband off mid-sentence to talk to another table. We find out their out of all salmon, portobello mushrooms, and arugula (an ingredient in the dishes two of us were planning to order). The restaurant wasn't busy but service was slow. Our waitress didn't check back for drink refills. When the food came out, three of the six dishes had issues. The Chicken Apple Brie sandwich was spicy (which the menu doesn't indicate), the roasted fig salad was drenched in bacon grease, and the braised short ribs were cold and had a stray spicy pepper in it. When we were wrapping up, I asked the waitress if the sandwich I ordered was supposed to be spicy in case we came back and I would know whether to order it again or order it differently. We never asked to send any food back, we never asked for anything to be removed, simply asked if it was supposed to be spicy. She said um...I don't know, then immediately got defensive and told me "It's not made wrong, it's correct if that's what you're asking" I mentioned I didn't see anything about it being spicy and she told me it was probably the garlic aioli--which not only is not spicy, but not an ingredient on the sandwich. She then asked me rudely if I wanted her to get the chef out here about this to which I politely declined. After again saying a few other rude things, she said she'd send the manager over. The manager never came, the waitress never refilled drinks, we declined dessert, and paid out check. I talked to the manager on the way out (kudos to Christine for being lovely) who said she hadn't been made aware of any of this and appreciated me bringing it to her attention. She also confirmed the sandwich is in fact not supposed to be spicy. In any event, the waitress made a dinner with an out of town guest incredibly awkward. I've never been verbally attacked by a waitress for asking a question and it certainly wasn't called for. read more

We went for brunch on Oct 12, party of 6. The service was beyond slow. Over an hour to get our food, drink refills that were non existent, cold food and foul water. It was so bad that I called the manager the following day. Manager tells me that yes, the water tasted bad because there is an issue with ice machine. Claimed they were understaffed due to a recent local advertisement. The manager said, "All I can do is say sorry." Just don't go, food cold, water foul and service slow and terrible. "Sorry" doesn't give me back my money, time , or appetite. read more
