A little late getting to this, but here we go. Last weekend, my father and I took my Mom here for a late Mother's Day dinner. I have been to Cracker Barrel a few times before, and it's always been good. This time was probably the best one yet. Our waitress Christina was top notch, offering wonderful service with cheerfulness and an infectious smile. The food was excellent, and we couldn't have asked for a better time. Christina was even nice enough to comp the dessert as they were out of what was originally asked for. Top notch service. I will definitely be back again soon, and implore anyone who is there to ask for Christina to serve you, you will not be disappointed. Other than that, you all know the drill, the store on the other side is always worth a look to find something to take home, whether it be candy, soda, a T shirt, or other collectible. read more

Absolutely disappointing and poor experience. Let me begin, I understand times are different right now, we are all adjusting. However, 'adjusting', does not mean we lose basic manners. I brought my mother in today for breakfast, her request as it is her birthday, only to have my mom disrespected. Our waitress Alexa was very rude, never once looked us in the face, we asked her to bring biscuits and cornbread which she responded "well you want them right now?". She brings them out with out with food, missing the cornbread, we ask for some and she says "now you want cornbread too?" As if we didn't ask, also VERY insulting. My mother cuts into her pancake and it's filled with batter, completely raw. At this point we call over the manager who apologizes while giving excuses, whatever. We wait over 10 minutes for our check- server never comes back. We decide to ask the hostess for our check when our waitress meets us at the podium, hands my mother the check, and very rudely says "we took the pancakes off" and walks away. Yes, we are in a pandemic, but the way my mother and I were treated today was unacceptable. Will not be going back read more

I absolutely love Cracker Barrel. All the food is delicious. My only suggestion is if they could please add gluten free items to their menu.

Not too much to say here. If you've been to cracker barrel before, you know exactly what you're in store for. The food, isn't exceptional, but its good and its consistent, no matter which Cracker Barrel you go to. Service was great. Everyone was kind and friendly, always asking if you are okay. A Manager (guy in shirt and tie?!) was walking around asking each table if the service was okay, which is always good to see at a restaurant. We had the chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes, sweet potato, french fries, chicken tenders, dumplins, cheesy grits and fried shrimp. Everything was good, some things needed salt, but otherwise a good meal. Everyone was stuffed (2 adults and a 4 year old) for $31. I cannot complain. Of course one of the main pros of going to Cracker Barrel is the store front, which has tons of great items. Lots of soda and candy, many of which you cannot find anymore. Bottled Cheerwine (using real cane sugar and not that corn syrup crap) was especially appreciated. They also advertise their own bacon, which was $12 for two pounds, which isn't bad given Oscar Meyer supermarket stuff is about $8 per pound package. I'll give it a shot next time. read more

I must admit, I've learned to make a mean country dinner plate lately, so we don't go running out to Cracker Barrel as much as we used to. But since I haven't found a comparable biscuit or cornbread recipe yet, we still get our carb fix from this restaurant whenever the urge strikes. With it's big cozy fireplace and downhome feel, this place is always a hit. Even when service is slow or an order gets mixed up, we still never have a bad experience here. The recipes don't change and the country store is always stocked with candy, so we're happy! read more

The place is charming definitely an American restaurant. The place was rather big so there were a lot of waiters running around. My bf and I were seated immediately. The server was very attentive when taking our orders and the food was ok but I must admit the fried apples got my attention the whole time. update. they changed their policy on substitutions as a vegetarian i was always replacing meat in their menu with a side of potato casserole (which is optional), yesterday they told us its now extra dollar twenty something in order to do this exchange. in some dishes you giving up a lot of meat for side of potatoes and now its a charge for it. disappointing. not going back for a while. read more

I'm reviewing what I think is my first-ever visit to a Cracker Barrel. We made a few previous attempts to stop, but this place is always busy, even in the middle of an afternoon on a weekend. This brings me to my only real complaint with the place--the wait to be seated was almost a half-hour. This may not sound terrible, but I'm not sure how this would work out when even colder temperatures arrive and there's very little space inside to wait. Anyway, the waitress was great; knowledgeable and very friendly. The menu was a nice country-style selection and the portions were generous, including several choices of sides. The food was good, the atmosphere was enjoyable and I thought the dishes were a good value. Impressive! read more

MMM...the most perfect breakfast ever. The food was delivered right out of a magazine looking so picturesque. Sunny side eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, chicken fried chicken, gravy and most importantly those AMAZING biscuits. How I wish I lived closer to a cracker barrel. read more

We were told 30 minute wait for family of 6. Actual time was about 15 minutes. Server came out almost immediately and took drink orders. Time to receive drinks was normal. Waited about 15- 20 minutes for food order to come out. Food was good but steak was not prepared as ordered. Had to return it. Waitress very attentive. This Cracker Barrel has been here for years and I've never gone there. I always preferred going to a locally owned restaurant instead of a chain. Tonight a friend and I decided to give it a try. What a mistake. The wait wasn't too long, about 20 minutes which isn't bad for a Saturday. Our waitress was nice and friendly. She brought out the biscuits before our meal. All four were so stale they were inedible. We waited about a half an hour for our food. And we both could not have been more disappointed. I had the new southern fried chicken with mashed potatoes and corn. My friend had meatloaf with mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese and dumplings. The chicken coating was so salty I couldn't eat it. No big deal, I thought, I'll just eat the chicken. Unfortunately, it was so chewy my jaw got tired. I only ate about half. The mashed potatoes were good. The corn had been cooked for so long it had no taste. My friends meatloaf was bland. The Mac and cheese portion was really small. He said the Mac and cheese and dumplings were ok. For the price we paid, we could have gone to the diner next door and gotten a much better meal for about the same price. I would suggest anyone considering Cracker Barrel to go anyplace else. read more

Cracker Barrel is good for breakfast. But keep in mind not many places can mess up eggs and bacon. I like Cracker Barrel because it has a southern charm and the atmosphere is very country and antique like. It makes it fun to dine in. There is also a medium sized gift shop located in the entrance of the store. However, the dinners at cracker barrel usually fall short. Had a shrimp entree the other night, and the shrimp tasted bland and not seasoned well. My friend had a burger and said there was nothing great about it. Overall a decent place to come once and awhile, but nothing to rave over. read more

It's been several years since I've been to Cracker Barrel, but today made it oh so worth going back. After a horrible morning and being over 2 hours late getting to an appointment, unwinding with roast beef, hot baby carrols, whole kernel corn, hashbrown casserole, biscuits and iced tea served exactly as requested by an excellent server, I couldn't ask for a better way to turn my day around. Cracker Barrel is always packed no matter what time you go there! Although we did have to wait 15-20 minutes for a table, we were able to sit outside and play checkers. The apple cider is always a good choice, although I am always disappointed when it comes in a regular glass and not a beer frosted mug. I will never attempt to eat here again. Me and my party had to wait over an hour to before anyone even came back over to check on us let alone serve us our food. Finally a manager came up to us and asked if some one talk to us about the dumplings we told him no and he proceeded to tell us that the dumplings were being cooked and if we wanted something else we decided to change our order. After about 5 min another young waiter come over and tells us that they just ran out of what we changed our order too then quickly ran to the back to "get our other order". Even before I ate at Cracker Barrel I was always amazed by how full the parking lot was, and now after eating there I see the popularity of this place as a fluke/inexplicable. I tell myself most of the people eating there are first time customers and probably ended up at Cracker Barrel because its located near a major highway and a high traffic area. I tell myself they must not know, the couldn't know how bad it is and still chose to eat there. I don't even let myself imagine they are repeat customers, because that would be too disturbing to even think about. The food is awful! Everything I ordered sucked and was incredibly unappetizing. Cracker Barrel ruins otherwise delicious southern dishes and then serves them up proudly to unsuspecting customers like me, who then are haunted by the fact that it is always so damn busy there (Ok, I admit i'm probably the only one concerned by why people eat here)! I had meatloaf, collard greens, and fried apples. The meatloaf was a dry bland tasteless hunk of whatever, the collard greens were horrifically salty and slimy, the fried apples were basically fried crappy canned apple pie filling with a bit of cinnamon added. I found the biscuits to be really salty in a bad way, yet flavorless at the same time. I was left shocked by how bad the food was. And I knew on top of that none of it was remotely healthy, so not only did I eat terrible tasting food, I was punishing my body with the cheap unhealthy ingredients that comprised these horrific dishes. I honestly don't care about the decor or the stupid store with overpriced country crap, bad food is bad food. No decor can make up for poor quality southern food. the good: has a nice country look, cute but irrelevant store the bad: bad coffee (more like muddy water), i can make better scrambled eggs at home, the french toast was loaded with sugar and butter, i felt like i was eating a soft pop tart with cinnamon, the hash brown looked and tasted like hash beige..... i can probably get a more satisfying breakfast at mcdonalds, which is a sad thing to realize :( $20 for bad coffee and a forgettable breakfast for two people...... will not be going again read more

Was upstate and drove an extra half hour to get here! It was a fun visit and a very good meal as usual. Had breakfast for dinner. I had my usual pancakes with cherries and my hubby had pecan pancakes. Service was amazing as always. I had sausage links on the side and they were especially good. Took home more than half my meal and still left more than satisfied. The store was a little messy and the bathroom could've been cleaner but Cracker Barrel is still my happy place! read more

Sunday Brunch with my two boys. Wait time was less than 10 mins. Yet the place was packed. Service was pretty quick. Our waiter was Darius and he was good! My son and I asked for scrambled eggs with coby cheese and instead the cooks gave us an omelette. Definitely not Darius' fault. I watched him write and repeat what we ordered. I think the cooks just make what's easier for them. Lol. But, no big deal. They do give you the receipt bill while you're still eating but, I didn't feel rushed at all. Quality of food and service has deteriorated significantly. I've been a customer for 10+ years and it's very disappointing. I believe it's possibly related the turn over in management which leads to inconsistent expectations of the staff and poor customer service. My time at the Cracker Barrel located within Fishkill was highly unpleasant. Our waitress shared personal details and grievances about the kitchen staff which we otherwise did not want to hear. She stated that the staff in the kitchen was giving a hard time when she requested the food we did not receive. The food we did receive was cold, tasteless and dry, I would say so much so that we sent a plate back as the scrambled eggs were bland, tasteless, dry, and cold. At checkout we received the biggest blow of the day when we were out right disrespected and taken advantage of by the cashier who's name is Mateo. We used a restaurant gift card which should have covered the bill and the tip. To our surprise and dismay we were informed that the entire balance would not be covered so a cash tip was left. After exiting the restaurant it was determined that a higher total was charged to the gift card that we were not made aware of. We contacted the restaurant and spoke to a manager named Barbara and we were informed that a twenty percent hold of the entire balance is charged to visa and MasterCard gift cards. It was explained to the manager that it is not a visa or MasterCard and is in fact a restaurant gift card. I was told to call back within forty eight hours if the money was not put back into the card. Barbara was rude and brief with her explanation. What was meant to be a joyous family gathering was quickly ruined by the rude unprofessional staff. We will not be returning as we still are recovering from this horrible experience. read more

This was my first experience at a Cracker Barrel and was nearly my last. Our visit began with a young female hostess who was preoccupied with something and extremely distracted. She rudely told us to hold on, we had said hello. After several minutes she looked up with out speaking and finally seated us. Our server was polite but all around it seemed the young workers were visiting with each other and not focused on customer service. The food took awhile to come out and mine was barely lukewarm. The chicken fried chicken was tough and the mashed potatoes were cold and unappetizing. My husband and I wondered how a chain could be so successful serving subpar food. Some weeks later we gave Cracker Barrel another try when traveling through Woodstock VA. It was definitely a positive corrective experience. Cracker Barrel is a staple for me when traveling and this one falls well short of the average most uphold (I would give most 3-star and a few, 4). Just feels like they are always understaffed in the kitchen and can't time dishes. The Red Line diner next to it blows the doors off, so go there. They are usually equally busy. read more
