I took my wife out to dinner last night to our Cracker Barrel, we ordered chicken and dumplings, I guess it was a bad evening for our server, because we were never given any napkins after we sat down. Once our food arrived my bowl was mostly broth with a few pieces of chicken, while my wife's bowl was packed full , but the dumplings tasted like they were not fully cooked. We asked our server to take her dish telling him it wasn't fully cooked. Still no napkins, we had to ask our server Mr Martin F. He was only in charge of 3-4 tables and seemed to be having a hard time talking care of them. We finally received some napkins, and her second dish of chicken and dumplings came back, but again it wasn't fully cooked. I understand he's not in charge of the cooking of the food, that's the kitchen staff, but throughout our meal and as many times as he came to our table he never asked about topping off our glasses of tea. My wife asked to order something else instead of the chicken and dumplings, and ordered the roast beef meal, that was when our server asked about our glasses of tea. Someone should tell Mr Martin that when he comes to work to wear his pants up around his waist, and not down around his back side, or wear suspenders to keep his pants up. We ended our meal with our server apologizing for everything, but we were done. We think that my wife's meal should have been comped, but it wasn't. I did not tip that meal, and that is a first in a very long time that I haven't tipped a server. But his lack of attention to detail, plus his dress were beyond reproach. read more

This was by far the worst experience. The server was incredibly rude and dismissive, the food was cold and burnt, and I got food poisoning. No manager to be found. I absolutely love coming to dine here. The service and food use to always be fantastic. I myself have been a server and bartender for 12 years. This was the first time I have never left a tip (I usually leave $20-100 no matter the cost of my food). On Thursday I came in to eat lunch with a friend. We were greeted and sat within 10mins of arriving. The host (Christopher) was a blessing. Another serve came to greet us and serve our drinks. The first time we met our server(Jasmyne E.) was when she came to take our order. She seemed in a hurry which was expected as it was lunch time. We placed our order at 12:30. It took almost an hour to get our food by this time the dining room was empty, and within that time not once did our server come to check on us. When we finally got our food the server had forgotten syrup, butter, jelly for our biscuits and said she would be back. My friends chicken fried steak was burnt, like black burnt inside and out. My sides were wrong, my eggs had been sitting long enough to be come cold and brittle, my pancakes were cold and hard (I had a hard time cutting them with a knife hard). We tried to wave down our server but she just gave us a dirty look, put up her hand and walked away. After waiting a while, like 15minutes, a buster came to give us syrup. We mentioned to him our food complaints in which he took my friends food back, I was so hungry by this point I didn't care it was cold and wrong. This is where I made the mistake. I took a bite of bacon (I ordered sausage) and noticed it tasted funny, I tried it once more and had to spit it out. I don't know if it was old or bad or what, I've never had to spit out bacon before. I took a bite of my eggs and choked, took another bite which got stuck half in my throat and had to gulp down my drink so I didn't choke because they had become very hard and fibrous from sitting. After finishing my pancakes is when my friends chicken fried steak was finally done. But by this time it was already 2pm, we had to leave to go get our kids from school. We asked them to go back and box it. We sat there and waited for someone to bring a check.... No server this whole time. No check... nothing. And as I said before the dining room was empty.... I literally told my friend if we don't get a check in 5minutes we're just going to have to leave. Right at 5minutes our server shows up with our check in which my friend stated it would be split but she wasn't going to pay for food she had to send back and didn't even get to eat in the 2hours we were there. The servers idea was to void off her food and hand me the entire check.... I promptly rushed over to pay. I asked the checkout girl (Taylor) how long that server had been there and she responded a long time and asked what was wrong. We then complained about our service and she seems very apologetic and distraught. She even asked if we got to speak with a manager in which we replied they never came by and now we have no time to speak to anyone. I was incredibly upset with my experience and would like it rectified. Once I got home my stomach cramped allll night long. Today I have a fever, and have been stuck in the bathroom all day. I can understand kitchens taking long and food being wrong without complaint (obviously because I ate my food). What I can't get over was our service (lack of and rude), and having food poisoning. As I said before I myself am a server and bartender. I understand things happen but not like this. This was the worst experience I've ever had somewhere. read more

It's 2pm, and waitor Michael B! He quickly took our order and brought us FRESH biscuits and cornbread. He kindly greeted us and was very attentive. We pay $57.15 for three BIG meals which was a steal. We ordered chicken tenders. I had to send them back because they were cold. I received a fresh plate. My husband ordered strawberry pancakes and mowed those down quick after prayer. Mommie ate pecan pancakes, fried ham, and hash browns. She said they were heavenly devine. I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in almost 10 years and I have to say this was by far the most disappointing restaurant experience I've ever had, I actually don't think they could've made it any worse if they tried. We got sat down and had our drinks brought to us and we waited for 20 minutes for someone to come take our order and when nobody came we decided to leave. The service is terrible and all of the employees just stand around talking instead of working. Was very disappointed with this location I always go to the ones in San Antonio, Texas. Always a good experience. This one in Corpus Christi ordered the steak was very tough. The green beans that are ordered look like they've been smashed almost resembled mashed potatoes. The server was a young man completely unaware of what's going on. We arrived at 11:25 a.m. and were seated, placed our order and got our drinks a little after. It was 12:15 p.m. and our order was still not out. I hadn't been to Cracker Barrel in over a decade. I actually looked forward to it because I have been wanting some chicken and dumplings. Service was good. After an hour and twenty min I asked the waitress to bring our food out because it had been so long and she snaps back and says other people that have been their longer are still waiting also and she can't skip them. Stopped at this place while in town and was very disappointed. First, our server was very kind, but several small issues made for one big let down. I try not to nitpick, but what ever could go wrong did. It was extremely cold inside. The menus were dirty. The coffee was awful. We found hair in our food on two different plates. One hair was on the plate, and one hair under the food on the other plate. Bacon overcooked, and pancakes were lukewarm. Other dishes were lukewarm or cold. Etc.. I usually find Cracker Barrel to be consistent, so this was surprising. The manager came at the end and removed some of the items from our bill, but I wouldn't recommend this place until they fix these glaring issues. read more

This morning, on our way back home from our last blast of summer, we stopped in for some comfort food we're so used to having at Cracker Barrel. The wait wasn't bad. Our waiter had a quick drink time and took our order in a timely manner. Things took a turn after that. The bread basket took over 15 minutes to get to the table. We didn't have any silverware for the butter, and it took asking 3 different people and about 5 minutes to get any. Surrounding people were sat and ordered after us, yet they got their food first. Parts of a meal were delivered several minutes later. Tea was delivered with no ice. We were handed the lunch menu instead of breakfast, so we missed out on a larger choice of breakfast items. When we got the bill we noticed an extra charge for plain hash browns even though it said it came WITH hash browns. The young woman at the cash register was very nice and explained their weird hash brown problem. This type of service is less than acceptable and should be addressed. My wife and I had the beef campfire and chicken campfire specials and it was absolutely perfect. Both chicken and beef were cooked to perfection and flavor was so amazing. Our server, Deron, was so attentive and friendly. He brought us the biscuits and informed us the cornbread was cooking and he would bring it as soon as it was ready. My wife's reaction was like a kid in a candy store she was so happy when it came straight from the oven. Through out the evening he paid attention to our needs and handled everything promptly. I ordered chicken dumpling soup. I got a bowl of thin, watery chicken broth with 4 tiny bits of carrots and nothing else. I also ordered a side of mashed potatoes. Only reason I went was because I had a gift card that I won. Will probably not return. I got meatloafloaf ,mashed potatoes and corn. Meatloaf was ok , mashed potatoes tasted like they were frozen and reheated needed butter or something the corner was a little hard, corn needed some flavor no kind of flavor. Had a $50 gift card our meal was $33. We're trying to get us to take a whole pie and call it even we wanted half and half. DO NOT RECOMMEND, unfortunate time here. After placing our name down for 5 people we were quoted 1 hour. After our time had come, we sit down in an empty section and we were then told by our waitress that the food is going to take about an hour to come out. Our party was then very upset as we had just waited OVER an hour and then told it would be ANOTHER hour for our food. My poor grandpa was already in pain from standing and waiting this just put everyone in a bad mood and definitely will not EVER be returning. Since moving to the Corpus Christi Texas area from Oahu, Hawaii the employees there have become like family to us. Mentioning, greeter whom we met , Sydney. Then Jillian who is our most favorite waitress of whom we know very well. Very friendly. We also want to mention (Vanity). When we met her she told us how to remember her name like (Vanity Mirror)(lol). We visited last night as we had a late dinner. We met a very well mannered young man Tristan. He always checked to make sure if we needed anything. We had chicken with huge thighs, wings and drumsticks. And all I can say is wow! It was fantastic!! Not sure if in order or not but at least get seated. Kids wanted the pancakes so we actually stayed. I was more than ready to go but they had mind set. The ambiance was very loud but it is expected. But the waiter also did not pay attention to our order. Asked for no lemon and he put extra lemons in tea. So not sure if they did it to mess with us ir not but he is messing with his own money. Our Waiter (ab) took our order and was to bring refills but forgot about it. He walked by twice and still did not give we have to stop him and ask about it. Asked him again for refill and check saw him two more times to finally get the check and drinks again. Sausage was not cooked all the way through wither. Definitely do not recommend this place. Also right before we left saw a couple complaining about the time as well with the list.
