    Gift shop

Never been before so it was fun to check it out. There's a 'porch' with rocking chairs out front and one set had a checkers board set up. The chairs have prices on them so that was smart marketing I thought. You enter the restaurant through the gift shop and we walked into an overwhelming display of gift items. From Halloween to Christmas and everything in between, there isn't anyone you can't find a gift for. I myself saw several items I want - Strawberry Shortcake to Harry Potter to Sanrio brands. Restrooms are up front after the gift shop. The hostess seated us and the server was prompt in offering beverages. I really liked him. He was polite and professional. Expedient and attentive. He brought biscuits and butter in a basket. I selected the lemon pepper grilled rainbow trout as I couldn't bear more fried foods. My sides were fried okra and whole baby carrots. He chose the lunch meatloaf with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Someone had grilled catfish. The biscuits were fine. I tried one. More doughy than flaky. The fish was swimming in butter and a little salty but cooked well. I ate the baby carrots to offset the saltiness. Same with fried okra. Salty but cooked well. His meatloaf was fine. Everyone likes their dishes. We also bought cinnamon rolls to go. The original flavor. I'm glad we tried it and from the restaurants in Council Bluffs I've tried so far, this one is the best. I love the concept and gift shop. Lots of parking when we went.

Service and ambiance were on par with CBs I've visited over the past 30+ years. Food was okay, portions were smaller than pre pandemic-and no more bottomless biscuits, gravy and grits with breakfast. Corporate profits rule again over historical precedent.

Can't go wrong with Cracker Barrel!! There was a long wait (forgot it was Mothers Day and forgot to join the waitlist online. Oops!) Busy place for Sunday breakfast but the staff was good and the food came rather fast considering!

Cracker Barrel just feels like comfort food in mom's kitchen combined. Located at the Lake Manawa exit in Council Bluffs, It's pretty convenient if you're driving through or shopping in the area. Open all day long, 7 days per week, you can have breakfast lunch or dinner whenever you want it! The Decor is very much vintage 70s mixed with a little bit of country store. Not very fancy but has all the food that you need. Service seems to be right on top of things and the will keep an eye on you during your visit to make sure you do not run out of coffee! Check out Cracker Barrel for some comfort food at reasonable prices

    Biscuits n' Gravy with Bacon

My husband and I went to this location while out for an appointment. We were seated immediately, and our server was very friendly. She took our drink orders and then brought our food within a very short timeframe. I went with easy yet delicious biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon. Everything tasted great in my opinion. After we ate, we walked around the store and looked at all the gift ideas. Definitely sign up for their rewards if you have not!

Almost always go for the steak and eggs breakfast as you can tell from my picture. Their steaks are always cooked perfectly in my opinion and have great flavor. Over easy eggs with fried apples complete the perfect meal. Our server was very nice, and let us eat in peace, without bugging us about needs constantly. Overall great dining experience and plan to come back if we're in this location again for breakfast

If I was waitress and seen all this food barely eaten...I'd ask what's wrong and fix it! Nasty, hard, cold, horrible food.

Our waitress, Olivia was a rockstar. Poor thing had to tell us they were out of 3 of the things we ordered!

We were seated right away, and it was a perfect day to sit outside. The hostess let us know they had workers outside, but we were totally okay with the noise, which ended up being very minimal. We didn't order any drinks, but for food, I decided to try the birria grilled cheese, which comes with one side, and I chose fries. Not only did it look so appetizing, but it tasted AMAZING. The bread had some sort of seasoning on it that added so much flavor to the sandwich. The fries were seasoned exceptionally well too. I'll definitely be back sometime soon to try more items. The food today was 10/10, and our waitress was very kind and attentive as well.

The food had a…read morelot of promise, though a few dishes felt like they were just slightly off from being great. I had the Cubano sandwich, which was good overall, especially the smoky meat, but I think the coarse-ground mustard overpowered the flavours a bit and dulled the smokiness a bit. A plain yellow mustard might balance the sandwich better and let the smokiness shine through more. The sweet potato fries, however, were excellent. My wife Laura ordered Emily's Salad, which was pleasant and fresh, though we both thought it could have benefited from a little crunch--maybe some seeds or nuts added in. Our daughter Alex had the birria tacos and carne asada fries. The tacos were tasty, though a little on the small side, but the carne asada fries were fantastic. Umai! (I am a Rengoku fan; if you know, you know.) I highly recommend it. Our other daughter, Sam, ordered the birria grilled cheese and elote fries, and both were really good. Her cherryade was especially refreshing. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed, though the dining area and patio felt a bit bare. A few plants outside and inside would really warm the place up and give it more character. The music was pretty good with indie hits in there. I also tried the Old Fashioned. It was definitely strong, which I appreciated, but it felt like it was missing a touch of sweetness or something to round it out. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves, and I'd absolutely go back and try more on the menu. Their waitstaff was top-notch and really were on their game. The restaurant has good ingredients and solid ideas--it just feels like a few flavour balances could be dialed in a little more.

I met my friends here for dinner a couple weeks ago and the whole experience was really surprising,…read moretbh, but in a good way. One of my friends has been here with his co-workers a few times but I haven't been here before. (Maybe one time many many years ago that I don't remember....) We walk in on a Monday night and there were a few people there. It's a small place so I'm glad we were able to get a table. When we sat down, the bartender, (waitress as well), came right over and took our drink orders and eventually our food orders. I wanted to try their renowned broasted chicken. (A device essentially uses pressure cooking and light frying to create a thin crispy skin and juicy interior). The chicken was some of the best 'fried' chicken that I've ever had, seriously. Super crispy skin and juice inside. Reminds me a little of Korean fried chicken. The texas toast was yummy, the cole slaw was creamy (if you like creamy slaw), and the crispy tots were crispy delicious. My friend got a broasted chicken sammich and he loved it too. (High praise coming from him.) My friends and I have been wanting to go back and get more broasted chicken since we left. On Fridays, they have a 4 piece special for $13.99 that I'll have to take advantage of soon. All in all, this little bar/restaurant has some amazing food that I just didn't expect after driving and running past it for years. Can't wait to go back.
