Sometimes, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach--and when that man is my dad, the road leads straight to Golden Corral. It may not be the five-star dining experience of our dreams, but when Dad's happy, we're happy. We rolled into GC around 5 p.m., navigating the minefield of potholes in the parking lot like seasoned pros. Inside, the lack of a line was a promising sign--fewer people meant a lower chance of mystery food cross-contamination. (I prefer my pudding without a surprise serving of macaroni salad, thank you very much.) With drinks in hand (Diet Coke for me, tea for my husband, and a classic Coke for Dad), we took our seats by the window and embarked on our buffet adventure. I started with my usual--a crisp iceberg salad with all the fixings, plus a side of fresh pineapple. So far, so good. Then came the nachos, a buffet staple that never truly impresses but always finds its way onto my plate. Chips? Check. Cheese sauce? Check. Pico and jalapeños? Check. The taco meat? Still suspiciously greasy. Some traditions never change. Since I tend to favor sides over mains, my plate was a sampler of comfort food: fried fish (always a winner), a handful of popcorn shrimp, mac and cheese, steamed carrots, green beans (a little southern flair with bacon), sweet potato casserole, and mashed potatoes with corn and gravy. The fish, when doused in a little Texas Pete, was an easy win. The green beans were solid. The mac and cheese? A tragic disappointment--cold, bland, and utterly lifeless. But I rallied, rounding things out with a last-minute mini churro grab. Sadly, my favorite chicken wings were missing in action during my first pass. But on my second lap? Victory. Fresh, crispy, and piping hot. The GC redemption arc was complete. Dessert was a DIY ice cream sandwich--two chocolate chip cookies sandwiching some struggling soft-serve from the perpetually overworked ice cream machine. A sweet end to a solid meal. My only real heartbreak? No gummy bears for my usual ice cream topping. A buffet betrayal. Golden Corral may not be winning any Michelin stars, but it's reliable, consistent, and (most importantly) Dad-approved. Plus, our server, Jade, kept the drinks flowing and the table cleared, making for a smooth experience. At the end of the day, sometimes it's less about the food and more about the company--and in that department, GC delivered. Took the family to the Golden Corral yesterday. We arrived at 5:15 am and was seated immediately after paying. All the food stations were full with food. What makes this one unique is that they have a good selection of Mexican styled food. Everything g felt fresh and we were easily able to get what we wanted. Overall a good experience for a buffet and one of the better Golden Corrals for food selection. Overall a good experience and we visit again. read more

You can tell this is a much older location because it's very rundown inside with trash on the floor upon entry. The few employees we interacted with were very friendly. We stopped here on the dinner rotation, and I was surprised with how much food was actually on the buffet. You could tell some of the dishes had been sitting there a while, but it seemed they were replenishing some dishes somewhat frequently. This is not one of the first places I would pick for trying to eat healthier, but I was able to make somewhat healthy conscious decisions. The roasted turkey was moist and flavorful, but the roast beef was cold. The green beans and brussels sprouts were hot in their trays. Hot and dirty! Stopped by after escaping the nearby Applebee's (see my review on them). We noticed right away it seemed the air conditioning was out. We asked the host/cashier at the front if we could take a look around before we paid and he politely obliged. That was the only nice part about this place. It was hot, sweaty, and dirty looking. The kitchen door looked blackish and dirty all around the edges and bottom. The floor was also dirty, although it was not sticky like that previous restaurant we'd just left. I don't have much else to say other than I would not recommend coming here. Even with the A/C working I don't think I would come here. The last time I went to a Golden Corral it was very, very nice. Well I didn't expect much, 1st stop at one of these buffets in probably at least 25 years. The positives: the staff were friendly, courteous and timely. That's the end of the positives. The negatives: all of the food wa basically inedible. Shrimp were almost all breading, fish were overcooked to cardboard status, etc. The huge negatives though were many of the diners, some were absolutely hugely obese, some had food stains on the front of their clothes, a few looked downright homeless. We watched a couple make seemingly countless trips to the various stations. We simply made a poor decision to go, out own fault. 25 years was too short an interval to try one of these. read more

After landing at the airport, we Just enjoyed a great meal at Golden Corral. The food was hot and fresh and constantly replenished. The options are endless to choose from on the buffet line. The staff was friendly, and helpful. They even had the World Cup Soccer game playing on tv, and festive Christmas decorations up. The place was steadily busy- even in the afternoon, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Yes- it is a bit faded in appearance - but just worn out with love, like a favorite old teddy bear. I love Golden Corral but don't ever come to this one! The girl who was at the register was mean, rude and just awful.. she was heavy set, had red curly hair and was mean to everyone. Was inside for 45 minutes or so and never once had any staff say hello, ask if I was okay or offer a refill. Every employee was rude. Don't come here. OmGosh, If I could leave 0 stars I would! Thinking of someplace to go on a Sunday evening so about 6:30 pm decided to go to Golden Corral, Cb, IA location. Upon entering restaurant noticed that the front counter where you pay and get drinks was wet where drinks were spilled and disheveled. Nobody came to take our money, maybe it was because there was no one else in line. Eventually a young man came from the kitchen and took our money. We asked him if they still had the Birthday free meal, he said no since the new owner had taken over they had discontinued it. Walking into the eating area the evidence of new owners was obvious! The carpet was filthy, the salad bar was very unappetizing as there was spilled food the length of the salad bar. These spills hadn't been cleaned up for awhile as they were dried to the surface. Spilled food, unfilled containers, the options were very cheap, not the normal fare. I had a hard time asking the help if there were certain items that could be refilled, however English wasn't spoken. Leaving the salad bar we went to get our main entree the same messy area. The carving station had Bar B Q Ribs? The steak was okay, but unmanned, lol. After getting our food I had meatloaf and chicken, the meatloaf had the same texture as tofu. Waaayy to much filler and salt inedible. Chicken only had dark meat was again to salty to eat, not fresh or hot. My partner asked for a med rare steak again we had a translation problem. The steak was good! Baked potatoes barely warm, oh and the yeast rolls were great as usual. Definitely our last trip to Golden Corral in Council Bluffs!! Horrible overall, dirty, language barrier. According to my husband, you have to try this place once. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Cleanliness in the bathrooms were lacking. The food overall was ok. The baked chicken was great. I tried the breaded fish and thought it was ok too. Some other items were mediocre. If you are trying to eat healthy, it's possible to achieve at Golden Corral. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING!!!!!!!!!!! We have been pleasantly dining at this location at least 2 Sundays a month since they reopened during COVID-19 and consistently at the 9:30am-10:30am time frame. Today was a complete and utter failure on Golden Corrals part to execute a phenomenal dining experience. I understand that they were exceptionally busy, I understand they were short handed with the Manger running the Omelet Station with a consistent line of 15-20 people for the 20 minutes we 'dined' in the restaurant. We arrived at 10:20am and walked into a line of 15 guests ahead of us. We understand that Breakfast only occurs until 11:00 am. We are not big eaters, but when you pay for Breakfast you want Breakfast. Today the selection was sparse at best for Breakfast. The line had been 95% turned into lunch selections. I'm sure there are some people that adore Mashed Potatoes with Gravy and Green Beans for Breakfast but that was not what I was craving yet ultimately what I ate for Breakfast. My husband ate 1 bowl of Posole. We paid $20 to leave 20 minutes later hungry and irritated. My husband had inquired with our 'server' if Breakfast would be replenished? We simply wanted Eggs, Bacon, Sausage and some Potatoes.... none of which were available. He was informed, " It's late!!! While pulling her cell phone out of her back pocket .... if you want breakfast you should have been here at 7:30am." To which he said, "On your sign it says Breakfast until 11:00am." She snorted and walked away. The table behind us told my husband to, "Just eat something else." We have never been treated so disrespectfully in ANY restaurant. We are both former restaurant employees at a different establishment that is now permanently closed and understand the complexities that running a restaurant entail but today's experience was appalling and disheartening. We left hungry and drove hone to cook Breakfast that we had already overpaid for once today. This entire experience could have easily been resolved if the Male Manager who is extremely calm, cool and collected in the face of some very challenging customers would have not been running the omelet station by himself doing his darnedest to satisfy the customers that wanted a hot breakfast because his station was the only one serving breakfast. Another guest and I had inquired with the cook that had the station parallel to the desserts if they would be replenishing any of the breakfast items and were told, "You get what you get." Then he laughed and walked away. I informed the other guest that the Manager was running the Omelet Station if she wanted to report him. I'm truly disappointed and may never return. read more

omg!! the most scurvy place ever!! 65.00 for slop. food was awful i cant believe how bad this place went down. they need a new management team. the steak was white meat when u asked for medium rare it looked spoiled. and the chicken was so dry i dont even think wild dogs would eat it. there was a young man waiting 15 mins for help at the counter to pay for his food while the manager was sitting on his butt then decided to go sit in his office im sure taking a nap. i do know a few years ago a guy tht ran the place was awesome he was on his feet all the time helping ppl getting thier drinks clearing thier table's cause thts what managers do is help the employee's. just unbelievable how poorly this place is ran. wake up golden coral get better help. treat ppl better. i honestly dont see this place in business much more cause no one know how to keep it clean and serve good food.. just be ware awful, awful food here in council bluffs iowa. beware out of towners this is not the place to eat. apple bees is cheaper and clean with wonderful employee's. read more

my wife and I came here to eat. got here around 5 . paid got plates went to find food started with there slider hamburger looked like they had been sitting for hours got anyways dry and nasty. got mash potatoes with brown gravy was clumpy and gravy had probably been sitting all the way thru lunch. went to the nacho/taco bar chip tasted fresh. taco meat not so much has two bite stopper eating. Know for there dessert bar went there got banana breaded pudding water, banana browning on top. peanut butter cookies hard as a rock could throw at someone and hurt them. brownies where decent ice cream not so much . machine doesn't look like it had been cleaned in a month. wife grabs the blue berry pie looks good, taste horrible.. My wife said to add she liked the Ham/ steak when fresh. IN MY OPINION I wouldn't come here. There food use to be great and made with care now just shitty every turn. Golden Corral. I've been coming here with my parents since I was in junior high. I love buffets and I like this one. Their are ALWAYS a ton of people here and I'm not a huge fan of 'fighting' people for my food. But their food is tasty for what it is, buffet food. The Bourbon Street Chicken is awesome. I throw that on some of their homemade mashed potato's and it is delicious. Their steaks are great too. You can ask for what temp you want and for the most part, they oblige by your wish. their new chicken wing station is tasty too. Overall, I'm not a fan of how busy it always is, but the price is definitely right for the food you get there. Try the Bourbon Street Chicken! read more

My spouse and I went to Golden Corral this evening. All was going well until a group of you kids between the ages of 7 thru twelve were serving themselves at the salad bar. One child was grabbing food and putting it back with his hand. A girl sneezed three times if front of the túna salad and fruit. The rest of the children kept putting food back as they spotted more food they liked. We asked the you g children not to put food back. Odiously they looked at us and carried on with their selections. An employee of Golden Corral stepped into the salad bar area and I quickly got up and walked over to the salad bar area to speak to the employee. As I was walking up the employee ask asked a child if they tossed a piece of pineapple between the tuna salad and cantaloupe serving plate. I didn't hear the kids answer, but I quickly informed the Golden Corral employee of all the contamination the group of young children made by tossing and coughing in front of the food. The employee asked me if I knew what they had tossed. I replied no but it landed midway of the salad dressing section and salad ingredients. The kids left and so did the employee. My husband got sick to his stomach after seeing all the playing around with the food and we got up and headed to the exit door. I don't know if the Golden Corral employee went to speak to the parents of the young children but as I spotted the employee and she got closer to me I asked her for her name. She replied "Christina" For the second time the employee by the name Christina asked me if I knew where exactly they tossed the food. I replied "no, but I'm stunned that you did not pull the food trays where the child sneezed all over food. Especially with the Corona Virus and the virus New strand. You guys are an open buffet and You need to remove the food for peoples well being" the employee replied she was going to do so but I never got to see her do so since we exited the building. Young children should be accompanied by a responsible adult to supervise them at any buffet all time a child wants to select more food. Employees of the restaurant should step up to the plate and quickly remove the cross contamination food trays. Establishments should be reviewing the health guidelines and procedures with their employees to ensure properly food handling. read more

My husband really likes this place and I dont mind it. It's not my first choice and the food can be really good or really gross. I always play it safe, fried chicken, mac and cheese, etc. I absolutely love their biscuits and honey butter. I also like their banana pudding. My husband and I normally visit this location since the closing of the Fremont Golden Corral. Normally, there isn't any issues. However, this last time we came here our waiter wasn't really friendly by any means and the food seemed old or might have been sitting a while... we might come back again, but there are defintely some needed changes. read more

We stopped in on a Sat at 10 am. The place was kinda herding us in like cattle and felt kinda pushed as it was my first time. We got out drinks and were seated. I had a look at the buffet and most of the items looked mostly fresh for the amount of people that were inside eating. I had the choice for breakfast but decided to go with a large salad with tons of toppings and on my second trip up found lunch was starting to be served. I had a partial 2nd plate and I at most of it. It was just good. nothing was cold or disgusting but nothing that I felt would make me come back and visit again. The people inside were rude and pushy. The staff was nice and kept the table clean. The bathroom was not updated and looked worn down. I wouldn't steer anybody away from this place but I think I would look else ware the next time I am in the area. read more

When Old Country Buffet left the area, I was very disappointed since I liked their food. The only equivalent around these days is Golden Corral. I've ate a few times at the one down in Bellevue, so when a group offered for me to come over and eat with them, I took them up on it. Meh is the perfect way to put my experience. The salad bar is the highlight, for me, of the place. I'll keep coming back just for it, as some days I'm in the mood for just a good old fashioned salad bar. It has plenty of variety, and they use the ranch dressing I like, so I am happy with this. The other highlight would be the desert bar, if it weren't for my diabetes. They have little to no selections for people like me, everything else being stacked with sugar. If you don't mind taking your children and having them whining about wanting all the sweets, this is great. The regular food. There is where things start to fall down. The Mexican and breakfast stations are passable. The Asian is bad, though. No fried rice? The regular American-esque food is the worst, though. No taste whatsoever. No macaroni and cheese, or dressing. The instant potatoes are okay, not too fake, but the gravy selection is not great either. The amount of shielding put in front of the carving station makes it feel like they don't want you to order anything meat that requires cooking. I wish I could recommend it beyond the salad bar and deserts. I want to have a go-to buffet not overpriced inside of a casino. I'll still be going there on Fridays, though, for the group meetings when I can. At least it is something. read more

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. It had been a very busy day for them, and yet all the food was constantly refilled and fresh and delicious, way into the evening. My husband had to leave suddenly after getting there, to rescue our son, daughter-in-law and four children from an accident on the interstate. The manager allowed my husband to come back with the rest of the family at closing time and still allow them to eat and actually had fresh steaks prepared. Our server, Alex, did an excellent job of taking care of any of my needs while I waited for the family to come back and continued to do so after normal restaurant hours. What a caring, comforting and accommodating experience!! We are from out of town, but will make sure we come back to this restaurant when we are in the area! I took my granddaughter there for Thanksgiving. I was kinda worried about getting my food since I use a walker. I asked for help and the waitress was great.
