I've been going to Cracker Barrels since the 1980s. This is the first terrible experience I've ever had. Arriving an hour before close, we waited at the abandoned host's station for over five minutes. When the woman who would become our server (Amanda) finally meandered past, she vaguely waved at the empty tables and told us to seat ourselves, and she would get to us. This three-starred apron-wearer then told us, when we asked for a breakfast menu, that everything was already included on the back of the lunch/dinner menu; fortunately a good server heard us, and brought us the actual fuller breakfast menu. This allegedly-experienced server then didn't understand three different menu items about which we asked, brought food wrongly-prepared, didn't understand what 'over-cooked' meant, and was actively snide and put-out when we asked for biscuits/cornbread before our meal--as the franchise has been doing forever (and when we pointed this out, wondering if perhaps it was a recent change, we were flatly told that we were simply wrong). I've never before even had sub-par service at this chain, much less an actively hostile server. The food was fine-to-good, if mildly incorrect to what we ordered, and accompanied by things we **didn't** order. The restaurant and store were as expected, even if the registers were wholly unmanned alongside the empty host's station. It was nigh-empty for our whole time here, which tracks if the locals have had similar experiences. The capstone was Amanda telling us about her awfully long shift and how a boy was very sick here earlier in the day; wonderful imagery with a glass of whine for dessert--who could ask for more‽ (Don't ask for more.) This experience was sufficient to get me to redownload Yelp, log into Yelp, and write all this. I think that's noteworthy. read more

Two weeks ago, my friend and I went for a late lunch. Neither of us had been in Cracker Barrel for a few years. Used to be when you walked into the restaurant you could smell the fresh biscuits. I always like the smell of the baked apples. This time none of that was noticeable. It didn't feel warm and cozy like you just walked into Grandmas kitchen. The server was very nice and during the meal she came back many times. No issues at all with her. I ordered the chicken and meatloaf combo. What a disappointment. The chicken breast was okay, it was juicy but did not have that old fashioned chicken flavor. Was kind of like a frozen chicken breast. The meatloaf was horrible. It was like more filler than meat. Was very lightly seasoned. I took 4 bites of it and that was enough. The rolls were hard and cold. The corn muffins were hard and dry and grainy. The antiques on the walls and ceiling was nothing to get your attention and spark memories. Everything about the restaurant was very disappointing. We went into the little store and they still had a nice selection of anything you might want. No complaints about the store. Stepping outside to leave I noticed there was just 2 white rockers on the porch. I am very disappointed with what has happened to the restaurant. If I ever go back to Cracker Barrel it will be to just shop the little store. I don't know what your new CEO was thinking but she should have studied her customers better. I am not the only one with complaints about the food and ambience, so many other people I talk to said they feel the exact same way. I would have given you one star but our server was good. The floor was a little sticky but we did get a table almost immediately on Easter Day. The server was a silly goose and the food came out quickly considering our party was pretty big. The server name was Eric he did really good he should get a raise. My sister started choking on the thick water, she almost died, I don't know what I would do without her. But it wasn't Eric's fault is was the person that made the waters fault. There was a bunch of guns on the walls and it did not make me feel safe, my brother ripped it off the wall and aimed it at my head then Eric heroically saved me and took it away from my brother. We got a bunch of beautiful napkins and they were so nice my dad felt it necessary to snag some. Eric wrote a nice little message on the receipt. read more

It's been a while since I stopped into the old country store/ restaurant. I am happy to report that my visit was a good one. The service lacked in friendliness but was efficient. The charm of all the kickbacks on the walls is always enjoyable . The food for the price was on point and enjoyable. I would still recommend this place as a solid place for a meal. read more

Pulled in around 9:30 pm to the rv parking area in the back. There were three rv's there already. Had a fifth pull in after us. Was quiet in the back and there was a side road with a couple of semi's parked there as well. Got some much needed rest and had breakfast in the morning shortly after they opened. Staff was friendly and the breakfast, an egg, hash brown, & bacon casserole was great. In fact I want to try it again at our CB at home. I haven't visited a Cracker Barrel in years. I was searching on Yelp for a good lunch place nearby and our local CB popped up. Even though the reviews weren't great, I decided to try it out and was pleasantly surprised. From greeting, seating, ordering, delivery and payment, the service was fast, friendly and attentive. The menu was extensive. The prices were good values. I ordered the turkey and dressing lunch special which was hot and tasty. The price was less than $15 including tip. An overall good experience. First time Cracker-camping! Service was quick and friendly. Unfortunately they don't offer gluten-free bread but I was fine with the sunrise breakfast which had 2 eggs, Turkey sausage, grits, fruit, and tomatoes. It normally comes with 2 scrambled egg whites but I was able to sub 2 eggs any style for no additional charge so that was awesome! I opted for over-easy. It was the perfect amount of food and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I've never had grits before and they were actually pretty yummy. Kind of like salty cream of wheat. Andy had the sampler which came with several meats and his fav was the country ham. I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in years and this exceeded my expectations. We love the food and atmosphere at Cracker Barrel's in general. The Davenport, Iowa store is no different. We had breakfast there today - Christmas Eve - and had the best waiter. Isaac was upbeat, friendly and very competent. He checked back and brought us drink refills regularly. Please never get rid of the fireplaces and the large vegetable selection! read more

Always a great dining experience here! We love cracker barrel. Loved it when we lived in texas and we're overjoyed that they have one here out of all places. The only downside is make sure you're ready for a wait! It is always busy even on weekdays so make sure you prepare for a minimum of 15 minute wait. read more

Was very excited to go check out my very first Cracker Barrel... and was surprised to walk in and see a country store! They sell all sorts of knock knacks and trinkets and old time candies and snacks. Great for a peruse, but we were there for brunch and didn't buy anything at the store. I tried to go for a healthier breakfast by ordering the Good Morning Breakfast: 2 eggs sunny-side up, turkey bacon, tomato slices, cheese grits, and fruit cup. The original menu item stated eggbeaters, but the waitress asked if I wanted regular eggs instead, so I said yeah. Then she asked if I wanted regular sausage, bacon, turkey sausage, bacon, etc. and I was a bit surprised that if I could have ordered all the regular stuff, then what was the point of a "healthy" meal? I actually wanted my eggs cooked a bit more and was not expecting my eggs to be so runny, so perhaps I had ordered them the wrong way. Maybe over easy, well done was the way to go? The turkey bacon was really salty, as was the cheese grits--which also had a spicy kick. The fruit cup contained fresh pineapple and blueberries, but the fruit wasn't really ripe yet. I was a bit disappointed in my breakfast, as I had expected it to be better. Perhaps it was my fault for trying to get a healthier menu item. Next time I should just go for the pancakes and biscuits and gravy or buttermilk fried chicken or something. My green tea was nice though, and it came with a little packet of pure honey, a wedge of lemon, and an extra pot of hot water, enough to make about 1.5 more cups of tea. So good prices for the quantity of food, but perhaps go for the traditional favorites instead of the healthier menu for better taste. They had free samples of Jelly Belly at the cashier, and I happily munched on a sour apple and butter popcorn jelly beans on my way out the door. :) read more

I visited this location on 1/11/24. Apparently since the last time I visited this place, they changed the menu, removing a lot of different meals that were popular, and replaced them with what seems to be meals that would be cheaper to make and charge a higher price. We chose alternative menu items after being disappointed over the removal of some of our favorites. We did consider leaving, but decided to give the new items instead. What a total disappointment. The food was low quality and not cooked to order. The drinks we ordered, that were supposed to be carbonated, were flat and lacked taste as well. Cracker Barrel HAD a reputation of quality food at a reasonable price, but apparently, corporate thought it was more important to serve low quality food at the same or higher price. I must say that this will cause this business to lose money as it relates to their biggest age category. We will NOT return, and will definitely recommend others to NOT return to this business. Perhaps corporate should consider their customer base before destroying their business. read more

Always one of my go to places for breakfast when traveling. I l9ve the hash brown casserole and the sourdough toast is a must. Nothing fancy here just good old homestyle food. Another stop at the classic barrel, it's a nice restaurant for the occasional stop but also isn't top tier. Their mac and cheese like always is good, it's nice and creamy and just very tasty, the chicken strips are very crispy which I enjoy but the chicken itself isn't very tender so it's hard to bite. The chicken pot pie was good but nothing over the top, it was kind of thin and the crust was soggy and was served in a plastic container dish that gives off the vibe that it was perhaps just microwaved. The pancakes are good as any other time, the sausage was okay but the eggs could of just used some work in general. Lastly the corn bread and bread, the corn bread was very bland didn't have much flavor and the biscuits were simply just a ordinary biscuit. Overall a nice visit once In a while but nothing over the top that makes it stand out. read more

Two places we make a point of stopping at when traveling--Cracker Barrel and Waffle House (when in the South). The Cracker Barrel in Davenport always has well-prepared food and friendly service. This time we came toward the end of breakfast service, and we all enjoyed the sampler platters. Our waitress, Kimber, was super accommodating when one of us wanted options not presented on the menu--"Tell me what you want, and I'll make it work," she cheerily offered. I really hated walking through the overly bright store to poorly lit dining room for an early dinner with family. The staff was pleasant and the service was good. The vegetable sides, collared greens and green beans in my case were overcooked but seasoned with ham which was also overdone. The best kept secret here is the trout. It was so delicious. I wouldn't have noticed it if my sister hadn't ordered it and it was well prepared. I did taste hubby's meatloaf and it is fine if you like lots of bell pepper. Super rude and horrible service. We came in on a Sunday it was decently busy but lots of seats were available. The girl with the glass that was seating people glared super nasty at my party and I so we said Hi how are you. She didn't respond at all just proceeded to just give us a nasty look. She then sat us and we sat there for 25 minutes didn't even get a drink. While we were sitting we watched another server force a whole family MID EATING to move to a different table to "free space" but there was many open seats/tables. After not getting any service at all even though most of the servers were literally standing around we left. On our way back from UCF orientation we made the mistake of stopping at Cracker Barrel. My husband loves CB until yesterday. Our waitress was nice, but I don't know if it was her or the cook. When we were seated it was hardly business. More people arrived by the time my husband, our son, and I placed our orders. It took a very long time to receive our meals. So much so the waitress apologized twice. People that came in after us received their meals and were done eating by the time we were served. Our food was dry. You can tell it was sitting out bc it was barely warm and the gravy looked like it was drying out. My hubby's roast beef was tough and rubbery. My kid's pancakes were hard and stale. My order was incomplete. I'm not upset about that part. I know the waitress tried. Wish our food at least would have been fresh and tasted better. The table was very sticky as if it hadn't been wiped off or cleaned at all, and there was food on the floor as if it was the end of the day and not the beginning.
