I can tell you that we had the worst experience that we have ever had at any restaurant. I forgot to review so this is actually from last month, but this place is a joke. We had 8 of us there to celebrate birthdays for my daughter and my mom, and only one of our 8 meals was correct. We got in fairly quickly and our server showed up, to tell us it was his fifth day at this store so to be patient. We all just chuckled knowing what was going to probably happen, but we all know it is a tough job so we would be lenient over a few mistakes. Things went well up to getting drinks and placing our order and then it went down hill. The order was placed, and about 5 minutes later, 2 of our orders showed up. My father's, and one of my daughter's, who by the way was the same order as mine. My father ordered a fried platter, and it was dark and either over done or just old fryer oil. My daughter was missing one item. The server claimed he saw them in the window and didn't want them sitting and getting cold so brought them out. My daughter asked for her one side at the time and the server went to get it. Over the next 25 minutes, we asked three times where our food was and she kept asking for her one side but never received it. At the 25 minute mark, I told the server to cancel my order, and I told him I did not blame him for the kitchen taking so long. He then said he was getting a manager involved and the manager came over to let us know he was looking into it. About five minutes later, 30 minutes after the only two dishes had come, the rest of the table's food showed up. Every dish was missing something or was not made like it was supposed or how we asked for it to be made. The eggs were cooked a different way then asked, and we even got a dish that we did not order. Every single plate was cool to the touch as was the food. Nothing was hot. It took another five or ten minutes for the server to get back over for us to tell him. I felt bad for him, and he then said he was so sorry and getting a manager. A different manager showed up and asked how we wanted to handle this. I almost lost my cool, but my answer was a simple "how about you fix all of this and make it right so we can enjoy our meals". He had the server go over everyone's order again to verify, then he went in himself to make sure it was expedited and came out correctly. About ten minutes later, our new food arrived and was now hot. This is already 45 minutes after the first two dishes arrived. Mind you, my father had eaten and now had to sit around even more until we ate. My daughter finally got her side, so that was hot and the rest of her dish was not as she wanted to wait, but that was her choice as she decided not to have them redo hers. The manager came over and made sure it was correct, which it was not but he quickly got the couple items that were missing. He then looked at me and said to give it some thought and let him know what would be fair for everyone on how he handled the amount on the check. He came back over, and asked how everything was and did we give the check some thought. Honestly, he did a great job fixing things, but it did make me mad that I needed to think about how to handle compensation when that is his job, which is to make the customer happy. When he asked, I told him I had no clue, but we wanted to show him the raw chicken served to my mom. He got very upset, apologized repeatedly and then comped the whole meal. I wrote into corporate to let them know what happened, but more importantly, to compliment the manager for handling things so quickly and getting our food handled. He was doing his job, but was in a tough situation knowing we were not happy, and he did make it right the best he could. Corporate has yet to even reply to me, so I have closed the chapter on Cracker Barrel and will never go back to any of them. I was on a business trip and found this near by my motel. This is my very first time here at any Crackle Barrel. I came here due to "The Old Man's Garage" on YouTube, for the automotive gear heads you might know who I'm talking about. He features Crackle Barrel on his YouTube channel in Ohio. White rocking chairs and while you wait you can play a game of checkers outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking in you go through the 2 sets of doors and you immediately walk in a small store with a lot of souvenirs, and not to mention all the old decor hanging. There is so much clothes to jewelry to kids toys in a tiny space and more.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking in more on your left side you walk in the restaurant and you can help feel the warmth of the fire place. Can't help to look at all the memorabilia on the walls. You feel right at home especially with the friendly staff![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The young man that helped me was outstanding! I believe his name was Anatole? I hope I got his name correctly. I couldn't decide what to eat and my young man server suggested the Trio, that came with fried chicken, meatloaf and chicken dumplings. First off all of it came hot and the meat loaf and the chicken was supper soft! I didn't care for the dumpling, however I tried it. The Okra was very delicious as well. This all came with some biscuits and it was really good as well. I top this off with sweet tea. Bottom line I will be back before I leave in a few days. The Frederick location is one of the best in comparison to the ones in Florida and along the East coast. This location, on a Sunday evening, was extremely busy. The line to get a table was very long for a few minutes but the staff handled it well. The front line staff was experienced and clam. Very unlike some other locations. We were seated in short order which leads me to the highlight of our visit. Our server Rowen was clam, very nice, and not ruffled by the crowd. She provided excellent service throughout our stay. We had the old timers breakfast and the Homestyle fried chicken along with warm (this is not always the case at other locations) corn bread and biscuits. The old timers consisted of two eggs, over easy, moist and cheesy homestyle potatoes (other locations feature neither moist or cheesy) and crisp bacon. It was great. My husband had the chicken with the apples and dumplings. Unfortunately, Cracker Barrel just doesn't do dumplings well at any location we have visited. My husband had not tried them for a while until this visit. They are still hard, tough thus not at all flakey. The only real negative for the whole evening. There was a group of 6 of us that visited this past Sunday afternoon. We called Sunday morning and made reservations for 6 at 1pm. It was an easy process, they had me talk to the manager who took care of it. When we arrived, it only took a few minutes to be seated which was amazing, given they were pretty crowded. The grilled catfish was good as well as the turnip greens. The mashed potatoes were okay. They were pretty dry and couldn't have even added up to 1/2 a cup. My sister ordered grilled chicken tenders and coleslaw as well as two other sides. They were out of coleslaw and accidentally brought fried tenders but brought out the grilled ones a few minutes later. I ordered the chicken pot pie. The crust was good and the flavor was also. There were 2 pieces of a carrot and maybe 2-3 potato pieces but otherwise it was pretty empty except for peas. I wouldn't order it again. After the orders were in and some had started coming out, we were informed it would take a little while for the rest of the chicken. No problem. This place and location in particular can be a hit or miss, at times. If you don't already know, Cracker Barrel is known for their country style dishes and vibe. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outside of the restaurant is lined up with rocking chairs that you can purchase. When you walk in, you walk into the store portion before getting to the dining area. It's a great idea! We always end up browsing and purchasing something here and there. The store has a variety of cool things to buy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food here is good, but average. Nothing special, but solid. Very reasonably priced and a good amount of food! On our last visit we ordered the Stuffed Cheesecake Pancake breakfast, Grandma's Sampler with French Toast, Country Boy Breakfast, and the kids Mini Confetti Pancakes. The food was O-K and the quality we were expecting. My ham and sausage were a little dry, but still tasted fine. Everyone was satisfied with their meals. Our server was okay as well. Nice enough, but could've checked on the table a little more. Our family doesn't usually go to Cracker Barrel in the evenings, but we have breakfast. We decided to do breakfast for dinner and had a great experience. Our party of three was seated by the hostess right away and did not have to wait. There were only a few tables seated so there was not a long wait. Our server took our order quickly and was friendly. The ambiance is casual and quick. We ended up ordering the strawberry stuffed pancakes, eggs over medium and bacon, kid's confetti pancakes, and the chicken fried steak with sweet baby carrots and mashed potatoes. Our food was made hot, fresh, and consistent. You can't go wrong with Cracker Barrel because you know what you're getting. Zero stars should be an option. The food was inedible. Our party of four all had the same opinion. First, they brought the wrong side. Took back the full plate and by the time I got it back, meal was fully cold. My scrambled eggs were fried and brown. The sausage tasted freezer burned and was hard a rock. The tiny pile of cheese hashbrowns tasted like they came out of a microwaved package which they likely did but they were terrible. I didn't eat more than one bite of each item, because it was so bad. The service was super slow. The glasses they brought out for the chocolate milk were wet with puddles of water at bottom. The chocolate milk were in containers like you get in a school cafeteria. Today was Black Friday. I didn't realize that when I went in at 1:00 pm. I was just a weary traveler on my way through town. I was quoted at 15 minutes' wait. I bought some items, waited some more, used the restrooms, waited some more, then after about 35 minutes a table for 1 was ready. The food was, as usual, comforting, delicious, and almost worth the wait. The waitress never brought me a check... had I not gone up front and asked i guess I could have just left without paying?! It wasn't worth the drive back to the place so we just ate what was there But it was disappointing that the service isn't better there. Worst Cracker Barrel experience I've ever had. What happened to this place? It was once great but quickly sludge downhill. The worthwhile items on the early dine menu have all disappeared. I settled for the chicken n dumplings. Thus was a huge waste of money. It was 85% gravy which was not good at all, 13% dumplings which were hard, and barely any chicken. Came here with some of our friends and their kids last weekend. As always, the store was fun and we purchased a few goodies. We came for dinner, which I've rarely eaten at Cracker Barrel (usually breakfast). The meal experience wasn't the best. When we sat down, some people had the breakfast menus and some had the lunch/dinner menus, and there weren't enough menus to go around. It took us a few minutes to figure that out. Our waiter seemed pretty overwhelmed with our ~10 person table and I also saw him running around to a few other tables, so he was probably overworked and/or the kitchen was chaotic. We ordered an appetizer that never arrived, but wasn't on our bill so we let it go. Food arrived at vastly different times for all of us, and we were halfway through eating our meals before we finally got drinks and napkins for the table. And while the waiter was friendly enough, there just wasn't a lot of communication to us about what was going on with the drinks or food delays- one person ordered a side of pancakes and we kept reminding the waiter of it, but it didn't arrive until everyone else was pretty much done eating. The food was decent, not amazing but solid, and we appreciated that some of us could order breakfast while others ordered dinner. The dinner was also very affordable for the amount of food we received, so I can't complain too much. Went to meet a good friend here for breakfast. When asked what I wanted to order I asked for a bowl of grits to start and I'd order the main meal after eating the grits. I was told they don't have a bowl of grits, just a small cup. I replied I go to cracker barrel locations at least 4 times per week and always got a bowl. She said, "not here." The server (name left off here to comply with posting rules) seemed perturbed. She asked my friend what she wanted and she told the server she was still deciding. I asked the 40ish year old server for the grits and some coffee so I could have them while my friend made her decision. The server said she wouldn't do that because they needed my entire order at the same time. I countered that I like to eat one hot thing and enjoy the food, not gulp it down like a pig at a pigsty and can only eat one thing at a time and by the time I got done with the grits, the rest of my food would be cold. She said she would not put in my order until my friend made hers. I bit my tongue after nearly blowing a cork. I asked for a manager and was told she doesn't come in until 10 am. I realize getting people to work these days is hard and workers get away with bad behavior as a result but customers should not be treated like crap or be subjected to 1950s way of life thinking or made up rules fitting the particular cracker barrel location. I got a cup of grits and coffee after my friend ordered her meal and the server got to make the single order her way. The customer be dammed! I was shutdown and felt I couldn't order my main meal, so I didn't. This location doesn't deserve my business or money as the inmates run the asylum while the manager is away on a weekend morning, likely the busiest time for the restaurant. I haven't eaten in a Cracker Barrel in 6-7 years. I think the last time was in North Carolina. I now remember why. The service reminded me of WalMart, and the food left a lot to be desired. To begin with, I ordered the Country Fried Steak with Hash Brown Casserole and Fried Apples. When I got my food, the casserole and apples were cold and a skin had formed on the gravy covering the steak. I only wish I had taken the time to take a picture of the plate. At one point I asked about the biscuits which every other table around me had. Yeah, at the time I paid my check I still hadn't received. And let me tell you about little, miss personality at the cash register. She was more interested in talking to her co-worker about her upcoming 18th birthday. This would have been a four star review; however, I had to bring it down to two for what we observed after a great meal as we were about the leave our table( see below). They are limiting the amount of patrons who can wait inside the restaurant for a table. We were given an estimate of 40-45 minutes for a table or two on a Sunday morning at 9:00 am. We actually waited about an hour. Our server Tina was efficient, attentive, and pleasant. The tables are socially distanced and cleaned in between each seating. There is hand sanitizer available near the restroom. The food came out hot and it was fresh and tasty. ***After a great breakfast, we observed the person who was cleaning and sanitizing the tables, or was supposed to be doing so clear the dishes off of two tables; however, she did not use sanitizer on them. My husband saw it first and told me. I watched her clear the next table. She removed the used dishes and utensils off the table and placed them in a grey bin. She then placed the bottle of sanitizer on the table but she did not spray it on the table and used the same soiled rag she used on the last table to wipe only part of the table. Two parties were promptly seated at that table. Please folks we are in the midst of a pandemic and those of us who are eating out to support businesses need to know we can trust the tables and chairs are being cleaned. We reported this is the server and asked her to tell the manager. She said she would do so. read more

Where do I start...I won't be going back for a VERY LONG TIME! This was my first visit back since a horrible dining experience two years ago and also my first visit back since a year ago when I found out the gift certificate provided me for the horrible dining experience two years ago was only good for a month after issue and had expired 11 months prior. Tonight I figured that after two years I would try one last time to have a meal at Cracker Barrel. Boy was I ever wrong in giving it another try! We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30. Once seated I noticed that I could scan a bar code thing and join a rewards club so, I did that. It said that if you joined you got a Barrel Bite for free, just for joining. Our waiter came to the table to take our order, he was wearing one of the red aprons...with four stars. My significant other ordered our meals and told the waiter that I was signing up for the rewards club and that we would like to order some Loaded Hash Brown Casserole Bites as our free item. After signing up we waited about 15 minutes to get our drinks. When our drinks arrived we asked if we could get some corn muffins and some biscuits. About 10 minutes later he came back with our muffins and biscuits...they were cold and stale. Again we waited for our Barrel Bite item. Roughly 10 minutes later our waiter came back with our meals. Where was our free item, you know...the one that expires in 30 days from now? No where to bee seen! Here's where it gets worse...maybe I should not have ordered breakfast for dinner. I ordered the Grandmas Sampler Pancake Breakfast. Now, my guess is what was served me...was indeed a leftover from this morning's breakfast time. The sausage was cold, overcooked and rubbery; the bacon piece was cold and hard as a rock, the ham...well, apparently I had a choice in which ham I got but, the waiter didn't let me know that or ask so I got stuck with the overly salty Country ham that I really do not like. My eggs were scrambled but, they came out in a flat sheet of them and they too were cold... not fluffy and hot as one might expect. Now, like I said this was their pancake meal...well, the waiter never brought me any syrup and, the two pancakes were rubbery and cold, much like the sausage round...they were so bad, I could only force one down without syrup...the other was left on the plate to go back to the kitchen as trash. As for the serving of the hash brown casserole... it too was cold and definitely a serving that had been allowed to sit around too long as the top crusty part was hard and crunchy. How would I rate my meal...at an inedible 0! The red apron waiter with four stars...I'd rate him a 0 too! I mean seriously...having to ask for muffins and biscuits, lengthy waits between drinks and muffins...waits between muffins and our meals....AND, forgetting the appetizer we ordered as our free Barrel Bite (that will definitely expire before we go back!) My significant other said his meal was fine so...I guess I was the unlucky one! Do I have anything good to say about our tonight's dining experience...NO! Am I glad I gave them a second chance...NO! I guess this goes along with the saying..."fool me one shame on you...fool me twice, shame on me!" Will I be giving them another chance...not likely! They got one star as I cannot leave none! Great location right off of 270 in Frederick, closest one in Maryland to the DC area. Our family likes to head up here in a lazy day and enjoy the great breakfast. Be prepared to wait as it always seems busy but the wait tends to move fast. Our recent trip was more of a brunch with someone who has never been before. The great thing about this restaurant is that it has something for everyone. So if you want to indulge go for it, if you are looking for something on the lighter side they have that too. The favorite by many of our family is the Grandma's special or the breakfast sampler. The country ham can be a bit too salty in my opinion, so be careful. Hope you enjoy! read more

Let's start from the beginning first i walked in the store because i wanted to see all the cute country clothes for my child and there was none in her size which already pushed my buttons but i decided that i would put a little pep in my step and walk on in the restaurant. The waitress sat me right next to the commode which it was okay because it's just a bathroom but the waitress ran in the bathroom and there was a smelly stink so i smelt my son to make sure you know he didn't have an accident but..... it was not the waitress blew the commode up.It was the commode. For a very "home" type of meal and a quality meal that won't take a big hit on your wallet, this is the place to be! From the breakfast to the lunch specials, you'll always leave Cracker Barrel with your stomach and your wallet full. This location is right of 270, and while the restaurant is very visible from the highway, finding the right road and entrance can be a bit confusing if it's your first time coming. Anyways, I feel like this would be a 5 star review because of the prices and the food, but this location (pre-COVID and during COVID) has waitlist times that usually take longer that what you would think. There are times where we would be quoted a wait time, only to end up waiting much longer. Although the wait times can be a bit frustrating, everything else about our visits make up for it. The interior is very old-fashioned and very authentic, which gives that country vibe, and the waiters are generally kind and respectful. Ordering does not take long for the most part, and I tend to order from the lunch specials or from the breakfast menu. The best items on the menu are the Chicken and Dumplins and Country Fried Steak, so definitely recommend those. Aside from the waiting times, everything else about this location is very good, and I would highly recommend this spot at any time of the day! read more
