The sandwiches are not 'giant' like they're referred to but that's okay because u find the price to appropriately reflect what you get! The potatoes are yummy, it's essentially a trice baked potato stuck in a side dish cup. I got the Lombardo expecting it to be more warm and exciting but was very underwhelmed. This was our first visit to aka Friscos, and we stopped in on a Sunday afternoon as the first customers of the day. The menu is HUGE, so many options to choose from! It definitely took us a little longer than the regulars to decide what to try, but that's only because everything looked so good. We ended up ordering a couple of sandwiches and one of their signature potatoes. The food was freshly prepared and came out pretty quickly. I tried the Alcatraz sandwich--while the ingredients were fresh and flavorful, I wish I had asked for a different type of bread. I'm not the biggest fan of white bread, and it started to fall apart a bit while I was eating it. My husband had the roast beef sandwich and a potato, and he really enjoyed both. Overall, the food was fresh, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming. We're looking forward to coming back and trying more from their menu. We stopped in for a quick bite to eat after exploring the town of Frederick while visiting family. We decided on sandwiches and this had pretty good reviews. The menu is extensive and slightly overwhelming but there's something for everyone. Whether you want a hot or cold sandwich, a salad or a cup of soup. They have a little bit of everything. The giant subs are named after locations in the San Francisco/Bay Area. I ordered the Trans-Am (named after the famous Transamerica Building. It's Friscos' take on a club sandwich, and it was incredible. I ordered half of a sandwich and it was more than filling. The staff is friendly and attentive and will answer any questions. There is not a lot of seating inside the restaurant, but plenty is outside. Don't worry, the outdoor seating is covered, so you don't have to worry about melting in the sun. Bag of chips is over $2. The drink selection is wide, lots of beer and some lemonades in different combinations. I got a pawpaw lemonade I was very excited for and you couldn't taste the flavor. Nothing not to love here at all. Incredibly imaginative and diverse menu of enormous sandwiches, salads and innovative variations on baked potato toppings. What they do, they do with supreme excellence. Pricing is most fair considering the generosity of the serving sizes; definitely a place to share a plate and not to feel bad about it. The "West of Santa Fe" salad hits the sweet spot of what they are best at; Tex-Mex and California cuisine with an upscale feel. Good selection of craft beers too for happy hour or maybe an early dinner before a Frederick Keys game, as we have done many times in the past. Don't let the business park location and industrial feel fool you. Very obviously the restaurant is run by foodies. One note: sub-optimal place for a business lunch or for (say) senior citizens despite the great accessibility: its austere and thus, loud inside. Sometimes less is more that way the focus can be on making things great and not hustle good. The mac & cheese needs seasoning it's nice to have all the cheese but seasoning is a must. I loves all the craft beer options and that there is a store attached. The young lady that took my order didn't seem like she wanted to be there but took our order. She failed to inform me where i would get the other kids meal goods(cookie, drink) and the cashier didn't informed me either. Fatboy (Italian) with house hickory smoked pit ham, salami, provolone & cheddar Cheese, soppressata, all on a sub roll. Solid value and the meats were great. I would dump the cheddar and just be provolone since this is billed as an Italian sub. The sub roll was a little mushy and didn't taste like Italian bread. Service was a mess. We came in near closing time and asked if that was a problem and we were told no. Finally made it over to Aka Friscos after being in Frederick for a year. What a great hidden gem near Ballenger Creek. This is a great spot for sandwiches, baked potatoes, and salads. Their portions are massive and are very reasonably priced. It had a great vibe inside with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for patrons to choose from. The service was great even though they were very busy when I went, I still got my food pretty quick. Everyone was very friendly and patient as it was my first time. I had the baked potato with homemade chili and cheese along with a half sandwich. I can't speak enough to how fresh everything was from the bread to the vegetables on my sandwich. People LOVE this sandwich shop with beach vibes surrounded by office buildings in Frederick, Maryland. They used to have two locations in D.C. which both closed. We went for a Friday dinner and found it just to be okay. Here's why: 1) Food: The menu is very big, but little stood out. My wife's chicken wings were lacking flavor as was my "Haight Ashbury" sandwich. The ratio to bread was way off and the sprouts drowned out flavor. Being used to Mangialardo's in D.C., we were disappointed in a.k.a Firscos' sandwiches. Our daughter found the kid menu lacking, but she did love the cookie and juice it comes with. 2) Service: The people taking out sandwich orders were not friendly at all and it took around 30 minutes for us to get our food.
