Had the steak and shrimp last night. The steak was overcooked (medium) and hard as a rock. The shrimp was what I would call deep fried tiny bits of garbage. I wouldn't call it shrimp. The corn tasted like it was sitting in in a bowl for a few days. The mashed potatoes were very lumpy and hard, as if they baked a potato and crushed it. Very disappointing. My visit here at the beginning was not a great experience. My husband's hashbrowns were burnt and his eggs were not cooked properly. I ordered eggs with Coby cheese scrambled soft. My eggs came out without cheese and were not scrambled soft. We spoke to the manager and he fixed what was wrong. At the end of our visit the manager and server apologized and made it right. Finally, the bill came and he removed my husband's meal due to the inconvenience. I have been eating at Cracker Barrel for years and I can say they will ALWAYS fixed what went wrong. This experience was perfect. Our server Aaron was so attentive and pleasant. The food was cooked perfectly and came out quickly and hot, even though they were busy. The restaurant was clean and orderly. I've had mixed experiences at this location, but it seems like they might've finally got their act together! The wait to be seated wasn't too bad for a Sunday afternoon. The wait for the food was ridiculous--almost and hour and The food was cold. The server was rude and annoyed by our request. After speaking with the manager, I decided to cancel the order. Almost two hours and I walked away hungrier than when I arrived. I usually don't eat here and this will definitely be the last time. It has been a long time since I've eaten at a Cracker Barrel, but I still appreciate the "Old Country Store" vibes, and I absolutely love that they now offer Impossible Sausage. We stopped in for breakfast around Christmastime because I'd been seeing their billboards for the Stuffed Cheesecake Pancakes, and I finally made a point to go try them! This location is right next to the Indiana Welcome Center, so this was an excellent reminder that I still needed to stop by the Christmas Story exhibit, which we did after breakfast. My breakfast was tasty, and my husband enjoyed his order of French Toast. I was also pleased to see that they have lattes on their menu - perhaps not Starbucks quality, but a nice option to have. My meal was almost $40 including the tip... Why do online apps ask for tips? Workers are already getting paid to do their job. They are not serving me or offering exceptional service through an app. That is what I base my tip amount on, However the app asks for a tip.... Anyhow, My meal was almost $40 and one of my side I requested sliced tomatoes. What I received was 2 small pieces of tomato, the butt end, just the butt because it was a sliver of a slice and a small old looking slice that look like it came from a roma tomato (this counted as a side). I also requested sliced onion, what I received was old onions that were dried out and stained with what I am going to assume tomato. I also added a slice of ham to my order which was $6 something. It was dried out and old. You guys should be ashamed of your selves for letting this poor quality make it to the customer. read more

If I could give this joke of an establishment zero stars I would. Me and my family recently decided to eat at this restaurant for the last time, granted eating at any place around the holidays can be chaotic this visit was nothing short of a disappointment. We waited almost an hour for our food while people arriving almost 30min after us received their food almost immediately. Our waitress was non existent and managed to forget our drink orders twice, after waiting an hour we decided to leave. Before leaving my wife tried to speak to a manager and even had to wait for that, upon speaking to them they stated there was nothing they could do for us and gave us nothing but a caddy apology. If you like waiting an hour for cold fried chicken then this place is right up your alley. We have heard so much about the breakfast menu at this place that decided to give it a try on our way back from Chicago to Michigan so decided to stop at the Hammond,IN location. It was on Memorial day so place was very busy and packed, which I sort of expected so was ok with it. After getting our table ready, we ordered our food and none of our orders were correct, they all were missing the bacon side, when we pointed out to the waiter, she never came back, I had to ask another waiter and by the moment we got the bacon, all in a single plate instead of part of our separate meals, we were already done, when we pointed out, the waiter didn't seem to care. Then at the cashier, the person at the counter seemed very overwhelmed with a busy place, and it was only noon. If you work on a holiday, your staff should be well aware and trained to handle it, no need to have a bad attitude. The service wasn't good no communication when the kitchen was behind. Then he didn't write any of our orders down which is fine but then when the Oder came out some of the items were wrong. Then we had to ask a couple of time for the same item for him to bring it and didn't bring one of the items at all. Then had to ask for to-go containers a couple of times before he brought them. It seems like the Cracker Barrel's in the area go back and forth with bad services or food so I'm wondering if the same people are getting moved around in the area? Let me start by saying...I LOVE Cracker Barrel! It has a lot of nostalgic memories for me and their biscuits are fabulous, but this very last time I went was absolutely atrocious! My food was horrible. I got a simple breakfast plate with scrambled eggs, bacon (asked for it crispy), hashbrowns casserole, fried apples, and biscuits. The eggs were so under done, they were inedible, the hashbrowns were raw, the bacon was flabby, and the biscuits were overdone. Our service was so slow, and it seemed like most of the guests experienced the same thing. But my biggest complaint was the food. I would give zero stars if possible my servers name was Brianna. Ordered food when server brought out food I asked for silverware she said no problem. I waited 15 -20 min watched Brianna take other orders I politely said excuse me every time she walked by I was ignored. At this point I was upset and honestly ready to walk out a table next to me asked if I needed silverware and said that they had extra. I replied yes at this point food was cold finally Brianna comes back still no silverware I asked for check and a container 20 mins later she brings container and check. Pros: our food did taste good, even though I didn't get what I ordered. The manager ended up comping our meal because so much went wrong. Drinks were refilled promptly. Cons: long wait for a table (can't hold that against them due to it being a Sunday morning). Saw our actual server exactly one time. My order wasn't put in correctly so I got a different meal (but wisely asked to keep said meal since it had taken 45 min to arrive and didn't want to wait 45 more). The person who brought the wrong meal was going to grab the missing items and bring them separately - never saw that person again nor the items. We asked for one other small item from a different server and after waiting 15 min for it, decided to leave. We asked to speak to a manager about our experience and they did make it right. Cracker Barrel is a chain restaurant which doesn't mean it can't earn a 5 star review. I wouldn't have even written a review if our experience wasn't so horrible. We arrived at about 5:20pm knowing we had to be at Midway airport by 7:30 pm. We were seated quickly so we were comfortable that we would have enough time. We did not, and I guess the first clue should have been the table next to us where all three people were literally siting with their heads on the table, and it was clear they hadn't eaten yet. 15 minutes later our waitress asked us if we were ready to order and asked for our meal and drink order at the same time which was perfect for us being in a rush. Then the wait commenced. Our drinks came pretty fast, but our appetizer (which we asked to be delivered with dinner) took 40 minutes. This whole time I kept seeing who I believed to be the manager going table to table in our section having long conversations with the patrons who were obviously not happy. I also noticed that other servers were getting food out to table rather quickly. While we were waiting the table next to us cleaned, seated, and served before we received our food. As a note we all ordered stuff that should have been ready to go, and not made to order. in other words, we had chicken and dumplings, meatloaf, etc. Not something like a steak that had to be grilled. So it really should have been a matter of plating the food, and not actually really cooking it. Finally, at 6:25pm I stood up to go find the manager. The waitress stopped me as I stood up and said we should be next. I told her we had to be at the airport in an hour, and we had to go. Her response was, "A year ago I had kidney failure and was in a coma." I am empathetic, but that had no bearing on her slow service. Anyway, I sat down and our food was delivered about 3 minutes later. Two of our dinners were fine, but my wife's food had a large hair in it that was obviously not any of ours. We didn't have time to send her's back, so I gave her half of my meal. We inhaled what was on our plates and ran out the door. I stopped to pay at the register and told the cashier that we would not be tipping, and why. I told her part of the reason was because of the hair in the food, and that we didn't have time for the manager to make it right. We are not from Indiana or anywhere near. We were flying home, so there really is no danger of us eating here again. I really like the Cracker Barrel chain, but this particular restaurant should be avoided. read more

I haven't posted a yelp review in a long time. Last week I was visiting my Mom and always take her out to eat when I visit, and she was craving grits, so we were off to Cracker Barrel. I have to say, we had the best waitress, whose name I believe is Renee from my receipt. I wish I had checked before we left. She was incredibly attentive, kind and seemed to enjoy her job. We were there at around 3pm on Friday, when I can say we've had subpar service at other area restaurants since that's not always the best time to go to eat since less staff is on duty. I just hope this reaches that location so our great waitress is recognized and we'll be back. read more

Just left this location after spending almost an hour and a half waiting for food. When my Mom inquired why we were waiting so long, the waitress replied "its the grill it's backed up." After watching everyone around us leave and tables again fill up and are served, my mom again asked why the wait was so long at which time the waitress again blamed the grill and offered up some biscuits. Again, after waiting, my Mom then asked for and talked with the manager, who then said, "I know you've been waiting 57 minutes. it's the grill. I will comp your food, and it will be right out." I guess right out meant another 20 minutes along with cold food. Unfortunately, we left the food there uneaten and will not return. Why does it take over an hour for pancakes, bacon, and eggs. I did not bother looking at the reviews of this location because overall, the Cracker Barrel chain is a good solid choice when dining options are limited. 1. Took forever to get service. A young lady passed by after about 10 minutes and asked if we had our orders taken and told her no. I assume she picked up our table since our assigned server was nowhere to be seen. 2. Bathrooms are very dirty. 3. This is the kicker. When i was in the dirty bathroom, my girlfriend friend told me I missed the fireworks. A fight broke out in the kitchen and spilled into the dining room. Not sure if it was actually physical but definitely very loud voices that caught the diners' attention. We visit this location frequently when in town to visit family. We have had to wait quite a bit to get a table before, but we don't usually mind as we enjoy walking around the shop and our son loves playing the checkers games they have set up out front and inside. This time, we were a party of six on a Sunday morning and were told it would be about 20 minutes. They were pretty spot on with that, as I think we waited about 26 minutes. Our server arrived quickly to take our order. We told her that we were on a bit of a time crunch that morning and she really came through in making sure we got our food quickly and kept our drinks full. As far as the food, it was all good. My egg was a bit undercooked, but not enough for me to say anything about it, and everything else was perfect. The kids ordered milk with their breakfast and were pleasantly surprised to find it came with an Oreo filled straw. Never saw two kids drink their milk so fast lol. read more
