Food was good and almost like a real diner. The chicken fried steak was solid and the rest of the meal good...Not great though as the best Chicken Fried Steak I have had was in TX...So the bar is high. Still better than Waffle House. Potatoes were ok and I asked for onions and peppers but it only had onions... Service was ok and my potatoes were not done the way ordered them... One star off but overall it was ok service and on par with places like this. Full on diner service at real diners is 5x higher. I have been to Cracker Barrel in NV, AZ, TX, UT and WV and this one was the best one so far. Ambiance is typical Cracker Barrel and the store front is cool as they have local school sweaters and clothes from Virginia Tech, UWV and UV...It is cool. Overall if I had the choice between a real diner and Cracker Barrel I am going to a real diner but Cracker Barrel is not a bad second choice. read more

Everything needs improvement in this Cracker Barrel!! We had a bad experience here a year or two ago thought we would give it another chance , well definitely NO improvement!! My hubby ordered Momma's Pancakes so first the waitress brings out the sausage and COLD pancakes no eggs she says they are cooking his scrambled eggs. Ok so now he sends back the COLD pancakes and has only his sausage. A good 10 minutes goes by and the waitress comes with his scrambled eggs still no pancakes! He now has eaten his sausage and his eggs still waiting for pancakes which finally come out 10 minutes later but at least they were warm this time. No apologies for anything it was a horrible experience again so now definitely we will never try again. By the way we are locals who usually eat our breakfast out it's a shame we can't count on the CB for consistency in service and good food. One other thing the place was terribly cold as it was 17 degrees and the had fans running full speed everyone around us was complaining too cold to even try to enjoy your meal! We arrived at 4:30 and the girl running the hostess stand was very rude when we asked if we could get the round table due to my father using a walker and being unable to walk far distances and she decided to argue with us until a second girl walked up and said your telling me he can't walk to the table further away very rudely and hatefully and I told her no he can't his legs are weak that's why he has the walker and she proceeded to argue as well and we ended up asking for the manager on duty and she was unwilling to accommodate a disabled person at all , all three needed to be taught empathy for disabled people and told being rude to them is not okay. You guys need to accommodate disabled people too not just a random group that comes in that isn't right at all or fair disabled people want to eat too read more

The store is definitely still packed with fall items. They do have 70% off certain items so make sure you check that out. Lots of cute Christmas gifts are out and of course college gear. Waitress was very nice and was attentive. Food was well worth it in my opinion. Bathroom was clean. read more

What has happened to this American roadtrip staple? The service was slow, the food was less than average at best. It used to mean a Cracker Barrel will be good food and lots of it, the portions seemed to vary from serving to serving, I got a silver dollar size of eggs and two slices of bacon, while my guest who ordered the same meal, received about half a plate of eggs and six strips of bacon??? All in all food was less than average and service needs to pick it up a bit. Used to eat at Cracker Barrel all the time when we traveled south. Then I got older and stopped eating at those places. Then next thing you know, I'm on the road to Texas and I need eats and this is the only place I could find that was open. Serving breakfast all day is what every restaurant should do cause I can do it for every meal plus snacks. Ordering stuff such as the breakfast sampler reminded me breakfast is the most important meal of the day, even at 930 PM on a Friday night in a college town. I ordered a New York strip steak directly from the menu presented, which show showed a loaded, baked potato and vegetable. I switched out the vegetable for a side salad, and kept the baked potato when I receive my bill, which I have attached, I was charged for the side salad and the baked potato. Upon speaking with the manager he said it was simply a picture, and country sides did not mean the loaded, baked potato or salad, as they are premium items. Tried to go to dinner, waited 20 minutes for a table. Once we were sat we waited around another 5 minutes for our server to take our drinks orders and food orders. We waited another 10 minutes for our drinks. When our server came with our drinks I stated how we would like a mix of cornbread and biscuits and he in return told me that they are lazy come with the meal and rolled his eyes at me. At this point my family and I got up and left. He also asked while dropping off our drinks if the table beside us left (which they had because he never even took their drink order in the 10 minutes or more they had been waiting at the table. read more

The driver was great but Cracker Barrel left one of the plates out. Seems like we've spent a lot of time at cracker barrels in the past 10 days or so. We tend to do that when driving a lot on the interstates as cracker barrels are familiar and reliable and normally consistent. It's not great food, but you know what you're going to get. It's usually also fairly fast. This particular cracker barrel is not good and it's not bad but it's not okay either. On this visit there was a 20-minute wait to be seated and then once we ordered it was at least 30 minutes before the food arrived. All of the breakfast meats were dry and overcooked. Server didn't really check up on us after delivery of the food. Had to ask another server to get a to go box. What I'm looking for in a cracker barrel is easy access on and off the interstate and a fast meal. I didn't get either of those at this location. It's easy to see from the interstate but you have to weave around through some hotel parking lots in order to find the restaurant parking. As always I give three stars to restaurants to which I would return and this particular cracker barrel is not one I will choose to use again. read more

On the road traveling stopped into a Cracker Barrel for late lunch was not disappointed. Well know chain store with home cooking. They have a full menu with plenty to choose from - home cooked meals and some things that you cannot find most places like rainbow trout ! They have chicken pot pie, meatloaf , awesome salads and more. I opted for the meatloaf with mashed potatoes - it was so well made and delicious you don't even need ketchup! The gravy - yummm - the side of broccoli fresh and cooked just right ! Check out their desserts! Huge portions and so homemade ! We had the chocolate cake made with cocoa cola ! Oh man it reminded me of my mom's chocolate cake. Prices - very reasonable - great fresh cooked food. Service was above average to excellent ! Stop in and give them a try - they have it down! One Cracker Barrel is pretty much like the other, and that reliability and consistency has made the company a wealthy corporate entity. This outlet is a good one, in our brief experience: the staff are friendly, the food is -- well, Cracker Barrel good -- and the shopping is plentiful. Surprising to us was finding a lot of Christmas decorations up and running in the middle of September. Sad to admit, we spent way too much time looking at them though we resisted -- almost -- buying anything. Still can't figure out why there were more Christmas than Halloween decorations. Cracker Barrel has quite a few options when it comes to steak and meat but I love how they are unique in their own way of adding 3 sides. I love having the hash brown casserole as a side option, possibly the only restaurant I've been to that offers that. Everything was delicious -- fresh steak, fresh broccoli, well seasoned mash potatoes and fries. Service to get us a table was fast. I mean it's a Cracker Barrel. Does it really need to be reviewed? CB is like Subway in that it's the ultimate quasi-cheap road food that if you're in the correct area of the country seems to be everywhere. Am I saying that the food is good? No, because if you're not doing breakfast the food other than that is very hit/miss in terms of quality but if you're in rural central Virginia what are your choices? Another Hardee's? Another BK? Another Golden Corral? The food was typical CB quality: The burgers are frozen, the grilled cheese is burnt, the rice is flavorless and the chicken portion is very small. On the good side the biscuits were buttery smooth, the quality of the chicken was superb and the dumplings were very.......dumpling-y. Our server was sweet as pie buuuuuuuuut I probably met the most miserable person in the world at the hostess station ("D"). More or less no greeting and literally flipped the menus on the table from a few feet away while turning on her heel to slink back to the front stand. Breakfast or not CB is not five star unless you've had your taste buds or brains removed at birth.
