Cracker Barrel is consistent from one store to the next. The food is always delicious and the service is excellent. Madison was our server today and she was friendly, eager to help us, and very qualified. She made our meal a delight. We had beignets for an appetizer; which if you haven't tried them you need to next time you visit. Service at this location very inconsistent. This morning took 20 minutes for food to arrive. Other tables seated after us got food 10 minutes before we did. Portions are quite small. Would rate 0 if there was one. The veggies were the worst I've ever had. My mashed potatoes were one big clump , pinto beans had to have been from the weekend, corn was tasteless. BEWARE ! Would you eat this ?? - First let me say that this location had earned a negative reputation among many in this area, but had improved somewhat over the last year or so. In fact, my wife and I had become regular visitors of this location and even placed frequent online delivery orders. However, on this night we would regret the visit and felt we were targeted by a vindictive kitchen staff and server who wanted to send a message. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy this night, yet there was an unusually long wait time for food to come out. Another table near us had complained about the wait to their server. My wife and I weren't particularly bothered by the delay and just enjoyed the fireplace etc. Once our food did arrive, the issue began. The country fried steak I ordered was under cooked, with almost no batter on the steak. One of my wife's sides was turnip greens that were cold and just didn't taste like they usually do. I agreed after tasting them myself. We asked our server for replacements for the steak and requested pinto beans in place of the turnip greens. This request clearly frustrated our server, who returned to the kitchen. When she returned with the pinto beans, she left an almost empty, dirty bowl containing a few cold beans in the bottom (ten or so), with dried juice and food on the bowl. It was obviously a leftover dish. The server sat the bowl down and left quickly for the kitchen. It was then that we noticed several employees watching from the kitchen area. When the server finally returned, we asked her to get the manager on duty. After an extended wait, no manager came. My wife then went to the front register area and requested a manager again. Still, no manager came and kitchen staff could again be seen peeking from the kitchen doorway. Finally, the woman from the register came by our table and asked if a manager ever came. We told her no. She said she would call him yet again. We waited several more minutes and finally got a visit from the manager on duty (Logan) who was new to this location. We explained the issues to him and he insisted no one had called him to come to our table. He was very friendly, apologetic and seemed to genuinely care what had happened. When he looked at the steak and the pinto beans, he agreed it appeared to have come from a "bussing tub" or another plate. He asked if we minded if he took pictures of our plates and of course we agreed. He said he had dealt with similar complaints all night long. He said there was a new General Manager and he would pass this on to her and suggested we contact her as well. He told us there would be no check for the meal and we explained that was not our purpose for calling him. We explained we felt targeted and victimized by his staff, including the server, who should have never delivered food like that to a table. He agreed and felt it was no accident. Again, we have never placed a formal complaint before this. In fact, we complemented past positive changes to the previous GM at this location. In this case however, this could not be accidental and was intentionally plated and brought to the table in the condition we received it. That, along with the snickering and peeking from the kitchen further shows the intent. We would like to thank Logan for his kindness and honesty, but feel due to his new position, he may be limited in his ability to throughly investigate and address this. I am including some of the pictures we took that night, to better illustrate the condition of what was served to us. I think you will agree there are health risks with this type of games by staff. Most importantly, we just don't want this to happen to others. Sadly, this location continues to have some serious issues. Bad service is one thing, but what happened here is quite another. So let's hope the new management can eventually correct the issues. In the mean time, Beware and do NOT send something back ! Since that night, we have visited the Goodlettsville Tennessee location and the food and service were excellent. *(Update) - We submitted this incident to Cracker Barrel Corporate, thinking they would be shocked by this treatment of guests. They responded with a brief form letter and a "free meal" voucher. After what you see in the pictures, this was more insulting than appreciated. We don't want a free meal, we want them to care, so it doesn't happen to you. read more

Great service and the food was okay. We normally eat at the Lebanon location but stopped here since we were close by. The blueberry pancakes were fantastic, my husband asked for cheese in his eggs and didn't get that. He was disappointed that the steak was mainly fat and the biscuits were a little under cooked. Went for lunch today and it was our first time back since the restaurant was on the news for making poor decisions on its brand. The staff was very nice and the food was great! Just like the old CB. I had the lunch chicken plate with carrots and turnip greens. Good portions of veggies and 2 large chicken breast. My friend had pancakes and he said the were awesome. So happy this CB has returned from the dark side to what all is old folks like and remember it to be. read more

Visited a few months ago. This location was out of everything we wanted. Didn't have blueberries or strawberries for toppings. Didn't have the sides we asked for. Asked for hot tea and the tea bag they gave me tasted gross & they refused to take it off the bill. First time ever to have their pancakes overcooked. We ate them anyway. No one came by to update us. The food was okay when it arrived. Nothing impressive. I keep giving CB a chance but I'm seeing a trend at all the locations and it makes me sad. Today I took my grandmother out to eat. The lady that served us seemed new. Her name was Ashley at the Hendersonville store. It was from 5:00-6:50pm. The food was 1hr later. We were served our food after two tables that sat down 15minutes after us. They got served first. I heard another gentleman complaining about how long he had been setting, an we came in before him. When the food finally came out, it was cold. I wasn't able to get all of what I had ordered because they ran out. She told me she would bring me some when the cook finishes making it, but I declined because I knew by the time he came out, I would have been done with my meal. So we had to ask twice for silverware when our food came out. My meal was cold. We had to ask 4 times for to-go boxes. And waited nearly 20e is for them. The server also mentioned she would take off the ticket the cold food and the extra. We were still charged for them when the ticket came out. So, essentially we paid for food that we did not eat or get in the orders. Very disappointed at this service. This restaurant has to do better. General Manager wouldn't accept my ID to order a drink after we waited 30+ minutes to get sat in an almost empty restaurant. I've used the same Florida ID with the same Tennessee address on it for 4+ years now. Government facilities, the police, every night club in all of Nashville, & pretty much everywhere else I have ever been, has never given me an issue. I have dual residency and didn't feel like I owed an explanation to Brandon, who seemed like a brand new manager trying too hard to do a good job and actually doing a bad one instead. The same manager who pretended to act friendly while refusing my wife and I service on the one date night we have made it out for in the last month. Because he said, "This ID is weird." And didn't understand or was too inept intellectually to understand my explanation. I'm not surprised the overall rating of this business is under three stars. It deserves less than 1. Our family has been here many times before. Our experience before has generally been good. So maybe last night was just an off night. So take this review with that in mind. Went to this Cracker Barrel last night, and everything was just off. Here are some things I noticed: 1. The waiters were doing their best to bus the tables but it was clear that nothing was going to happen quickly. 2. The hostess was having to go between different tables in an attempt to mediate for people not being served, tables not being cleaned, etc. 3. Our waitress was okay, but it was evident that she was only doing the bare minimum to get us what we needed. 4. Our order came out partially incorrect but I really didn't want to get it fixed because I was afraid we would be waiting even longer. My daughter's pancakes were definitely burnt. Our French toast was okay, but it was definitely on the overdone side. Overall I was just really disappointed with both the food and the service. All I have to compare, is our previous visits which have all been good. Cracker Barrel can definitely do better than they did last night. read more

the Hendersonville cracker barrel used to be great but looks like all the good help left and the ones working there now are very nasty and trashy. We stopped in the other day knowing that our prior experience from a month ago was really bad. We sat for 20 minutes waiting for a waitress. Complete incompetence! I placed a pickup order for my Thanksgiving feast. I also had extra items I ordered. At pick up, the employees were rushing me when I'm trying to look through the box and items to make sure everything was correct. The girl got abrupt with me and insisted EVERYTHING is there. This Cracker Barrel has gone downhill. I could not believe what occurred. When my sister, my niece, my grand-nephew, and me walked to the counter to be seated, we were greeted by the hostess, slamming down the seating iPad in a Huff. We were then seated. The hostess wasn't friendly at all. We then sat at the table for about 10 minutes before the waitress showed up. The waitress took our order and told us they didn't have any cornbread. We ordered, and I told the waitress that biscuits were fine as long as I had honey. A few minutes later, the waitress brought our drinks with napkins. She then brought out biscuits and honey. I fixed a couple of biscuits only to find that I didn't have any utensils. I didn't see our waitress for 20 minutes when she brought out the food. She informed us that they ran out of baked apples and only had one order. I let my niece have the baked apples and ordered broccoli. They also put fried okra on my nieces plate when she didn't order it. She left it on the table and then charged me for an extra for an extra side. By now, I was totally frustrated and decided not to create a scene. Not once did the waitress ask if we needed refills for our drinks. Also, my sister said her meatloaf was cold. I talked to a couple of friends who said they had a similar experience and would not go back. I will not go back. read more

Food was disgusting, bacon didn't even look like it was cooked, hash browns, that she said I got charged $1 more for bc they weren't loaded, tasted and looked like they were cooked on a grill that hadn't been cleaned in months. She didn't bring out my biscuits and gravy that were supposed to come with my meal when she brought the rest, when I asked her for it, she didn't come back for 7-10 mins, meanwhile, we needed hot sauce, ketchup and drink refills, no sign of the waitress. After trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a second chance, I would never recommend this location to anyone. read more

The thrill is gone.... CB was the place to go for comfort food and great service, albeit at a premium to other breakfast chains. The only thing left is high prices. My last encounters consist of waiting 10 minutes to even have a seating host show up to their station (left), being seated and have the wait staff pass you 6 times with no service for 20 minutes (left), and a 13 dollar breakfast plate served incorrectly and cold from a waiter who didn't want to be there. Enough is enough. There is a sad tale of a chain that followed this exact path: Shoney's. I actually dumped my stock in the company (Cracker Barrel) as I have seen this show before. The food was horrible ! Meatloaf was burned black!! I sent it back only to have it replaced with a much thicker piece but still black and a smear of ketchup across the black. Krista , a manager I'm assuming brought it out. My nephew wanted more chocolate milk and she asked how many boxes so she would know what to charge me !!! Seriously ?? I've given this place a try several times over the last few years with hopes they will improve because I miss how cracker barrel used to be, but it's no use, it's terrible. pancakes are like rubber, hard to cut with a knife. eggs taste gamey. biscuits undercooked. terrible bacon, how do you screw up bacon?! And the staff look at you in shock when you mention this, they think everything is ok. Even the fact that this place is almost empty with customers. I think the manager ignores the ratings online. And I think the only people eating at this place don't go online or have tastebuds. But then again you don't need tastebuds to tell wether something has the consistency of rubber.
