I had catfish dinner. The catfish was excellent. I had the hush puppies turnip greens cooked with smoked meat. Had cinnamon apples and cornbread muffins. I have to say that the whipped butter, but so good. It was like eating soft, whipped ice cream. Normally butter is so hard and not easy to spread on your bread. I don't usually like or eat tartar sauce, but I have to say the tartar sauce at Cracker Barrel was the best that I've ever tasted. Frank was my server. I came in Saturday at a busy time around 6:30pm. He was very busy, but took very good care of all of his customers. I saw how he touched base with every table that he had. Me being in CUSTOMER SERVICE business for 35 years, I would give him 4.5 stars. 1/2 Frank was back in customer service one month after not working in customer service for 6 years. He did an excellent job. Very attentive to his customers. Always on the move doing his figure 8 checking on his customers and taking orders. Frank was smiling laughing with his customers to the point that I was able to engage with his customers at the table across from me. Frank made me feel comfortable with that "can do" attitude, with an unforgettable smile which is very rare to see in customer service these days. I live in Round Lake Illinois, but I will drive to Kenosha's Cracker Barrel because food is good, great service and it's clean! Every restaurant has a little dust here and there and plus you can't see everything, but where I sat when I look up at the objects on the wall and ceiling, I could see they had been dusted. When dining room is clean, then I will feel comfortable that the kitchen is clean and sanitized. *Plus I want to say thank you to the cooks there Saturday evening March 21st 2026 for cooking & preparing such a delicious meal that will not be forgotten. I am writing this review within minutes of the experience. Right off the bat I want to say that the kitchen seemed to be an issue tonight. When we first sat down, the waitress informed us that there would be a 15-20 wait on food due to an order from a group of around 18 people which we understood. In the meantime, we did receive drinks and biscuits which were really good. However, the waitress was pretty sparse in her returns to our table. After about 30-35 minutes, we still hadn't gotten our food. Our waitress informed us it would be another 5 minutes. About 10 more minutes passed by, and by this time, the big group of 18 had gotten their meals and finished eating. We still hadn't gotten our food, and we just decided we'd had enough and canceled our order. To be fair, we probably just came on a one off bad night, but just be aware that this could happen again. read more

The atmosphere is always very welcoming and friendly. Julie was my server very pleasant and attentive. The wait for the meal was average. The food taste really good and warm. She kept refilling my coffee so no need to ask for more. They even offer it to go cup if you would like to take some more coffee with. I love it here, I like going into the store look at everything that they have for sale all new items or clearance items. It just reminds me when I was a little girl since they do carry old style candy. It's a great place to come for breakfast or lunch if you get Julie as a server, you'll have a better visit. read more

Busy, busy place! It's nice that a friendly employee took our name and phone number at the door for a table. The wait was pretty accurate. Cracker Barrel is our go to restaurant when we are on road trips. When we are on long trips, it's nice to stop in to a Cracker Barrel. We know that they are all going to be the same vibe and atmosphere and you can just kind of unwind and eat some good food. I love the Southern fried chicken and the chicken pot pie and my wife loves the meatloaf. The service is always great. The servers never try to push you out. It is a treat for us to eat at this Cracker Barrel when we head to Wisconsin. We love the ability to select from more than a limited choice of vegetables and other sides. I went to Cracker Barrel 2 times when visiting Kenosha and the first time was pretty good. I had a waiter named Jordan and he was so friendly that I decided to go a second time. 4/5 experience. This second time unfortunately Jordan wasn't my waiter. I went specifically for dessert, to try their cola cake which was sold out. The waiter recommended I try the peach cobbler. I'm not sure if this is a new way that they're serving peach cobbler but you can search on Yelp photos for the other peach cobbler that another person got or the photo on their menu and it looks completely different than this one. There was one scoop of vanilla ice cream and a peach sugary soup with some pieces of peach and pie crust at the bottom. If you don't have enough ingredients to make the dish the right way, please let your customer know so they can order something else. read more

I love a Cracker Barrel and always make sure to stop at one while traveling. This one was very disappointing. Tables were not cleaned after people left so it looked a mess. Friend ordered chicken and dumplings which came out so runny it looked like soup. Her biscuits were overcooked. I asked for one chocolate chip pancake. Waitress said I needed two. Pancake came out not fluffy - had a greasy feel to it. All the choc chips (not many) were all in the middle. I only ate one as that's all I wanted to start with and she asked if I wanted to take it home which I did not want to as it wasn't good. Really needs some work. read more

CB is known for its reliable, consistent, traditional southern comfort food. We decided to meet grandma here for Easter brunch. The place was packed! We put our name in and waited about 30 minutes for a table for four. It was well organized, and it gives you some time to browse their store with all kinds of knick-knacks and such. We sat down and ordered, and our meal came out less than ten minutes! As busy as they were, the service was attentive and quite good. This wasn't my first time at CB, and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered Grandpa's country fried breakfast. Includes two eggs, a side of hash brown casserole (a must try!), and chicken fried chicken. Everything came out hot and properly cooked. Arriving late and leaving early is my trademark Cracker Barrel move. They tolerate overnight parking in their parking lots by RVers and this is the best spot in southeast Wisconsin for it. I watched Alixx clean tables. She pushed the crumbs onto the chairs and left them. She didn't push the chairs in. It looked terrible. I am probably sitting on crumbs and that disgusts me. The second star is really just for the friendly staff because Cracker Barrel has really gone downhill. I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in years, mostly because I haven't traveled much. But ever since I was a kid, I have always gotten the same thing - Sunrise Sampler. And now they don't have it anymore. It's understandable considering it was the "little bit of everything" plate, which was why I liked it. I didn't have to make a choice except what style eggs and sugar or salty ham. I can see how it doesn't work well with the bottom line. I can still make my own breakfast combo, which is good, but two of the sides would be a la carte. Good thing my partner is down with the split and share! However, the usual star of the show - hashbrown casserole was disgusting...very under cooked. And all my meats were severely overcooked. So I had leather and raw potato for breakfast. I'm usually not one to waste food, but I tell you I took one bite of each and left the rest. I mentioned it to the waitress, and she said they often have the complaint about the hashbrown casserole because they use a new supplier, and even some of their regulars no longer order it. Well...sounds like they should either change it back or just get rid of it. They got rid of everything else that was great, why not that? What a waste! They also said they "got rid" of poached eggs...which just means no one in the kitchen knows how to poach eggs. Just like the girl at the counter wasn't even sure "how the post office works"...when I asked if she knows if there's a post office anywhere nearby. Oh boy, thanks for making me feel old! I used to look forward to stopping at a Cracker Barrel when traveling but I think I'll probably pass it up next time. This isn't anything against THIS specific CB, but CB as a whole. I can tell the workers are all doing the best they can with what they've been given. It's a corporate issue, not local. And as usual they do have all the pretty knickknacks that draw the eye and punch the pocketbook. But dang they're pretty! Service: We arrived at 2:00pm and there was a waiting list. 35 minutes to wait so we sat outside. When called, we were seated at a table and it wasn't clean. There was syrup and ketchup on the table. When asked, the host (male) recleaned it but couldn't see that it needed to be scrubbed, so I helped out. The waitress took our order and brought back drinks, forgot a drink, and then quickly brought it back out. Food: We ordered food at about 2:45, it's now 3:20, and still waiting. Food arrived at 3:25. The peach cobbler came at 3:35. The hot chocolate is watery - 1 star The soft drinks were fine. Hash browns - 3 stars. Mac and cheese - 5 stars Loaded sweet potato - 4 stars Chicken strips - 4 stars Bacon - 3.5 stars Peach cobbler - 3 stars (tastes like canned peaches) French toast - 4 stars Biscuits and gravy - 3 stars 3 stars overall because yes it was busy, they could use a few more people to assist in cleaning, the main thing is the cook... needs more support and someone look at quality of food being served. read more

Went on Labor Day arrived at 12:15pm. Waited 45 min for table-- ok it's a holiday. Place was packed and very loud. Bathrooms were dirty and out of paper. Waited at table 20 min before waitress came to take drink and food order. Took another 15 min to bring drinks to table. After an hour of waiting for food- we asked about our food and waitress told us restaurant was busy and we would have to wait on our food. As of this writing, I'm still waiting on my food! We could not get refills on coffee or drinks- because she forgot time and time again. She forgot my skillet cinnamon buns I really wanted. Waitress was tired-- I get it -- but I'm here to have a good meal and experience. I didn't get it this go around. Food finally arrived after one hour and 10 min but only half the table got food. My wife and I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in ages. We have been seeing the commercials for their new "Campfire" entrees and thought we'd give it a try. The restaurant was very clean. The hostess seated us as we had requested (table along the wall). Our server was a hoot! She was friendly, had a good sense of humor, and was very efficient in her order-taking, food delivery, and occasional checking on our progress and needs. I had the Campfire Chicken. It came wrapped in a sheet of foil, and steam escaped when I began to unwrap it! It contained a quarter of a chicken, two small pieces of corn (on the cob), two tennis ball-size baked potatoes, roasted cherry tomatoes, and sliced carrots. All were melt-in-your-mouth tender! I paired the meal with cornbread (slathered with butter) and a cold Mimosa. I would have to say that the entree was actually large enough to share with another... but I ate it all! Of course, after the meal we roamed the gift shop and purchased some "vintage" candies. read more

Stopped in here for a breakfast dinner on the way back home. My husband ordered the Biscuit Benny, which he enjoyed, and I had the Biscuits and Gravy. The biscuits for both were soft and fluffy with a crisp and buttery outside. I asked for honey to go with mine, which made them even more delicious. The gravy, although good, was simply made, which I assume is because you can also add sausage or bacon to your order. Cracker Barrel is a classic spot we tend to stop for while traveling. We love the home cooked flavor and all-day breakfast option (obviously) and old-fashioned decor. I visited here in the morning and order Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast. The wait for a server and then the wait for the food was about normal. The eggs were barely room temperature and were much closer to sunny side up than the over medium I ordered. Disappointed on that point. The grits had a filmy top that you had to peel away, but I'm not a big grits guy anyway. Maybe that's how they're supposed to be? On the plus side, the hash brown casserole was good, as it is at most Cracker Barrels, and the country fried steak was tasty and had no gristle. The server was very pleasant and refilled my water. The food was terrible, the coke was watered down, the fish was watery and wet, the chicken tenders tasted like Tyson air fried chicken fingers. The biscuits were dry and starchy. The Mac and cheese tasted like it was microwaved from frozen, had almost a soupy texture. This establishment smelled of must and spices, which honestly made me not even want to finish my already repulsive meal, The only two saving graces were the waitresses service (she was really nice) and the gift shop. read more

My first Cracker Barrel experience! You walk through a gift shop to get seated and it actually has some fun items to browse through while waiting. This location seems to always be busy! The wait went by pretty fast on a Saturday afternoon. Once seated, I could tell the restaurant was severely understaffed. There were only 3 waitresses for the entire floor, and they were working their hardest. I went with a combo meal that had steak tips, fried shrimp, chicken tenders, Mac and cheese, hashbrown casserole, and biscuits. It was delicious, but very greasy and I did not feel great afterwards. The steak was surprisingly tender and flavorful and the shrimp was crispy. The sides and biscuits were fresh and just what I was expecting. Prices were very good, as well. My mom's biscuit had a hair cooked into the middle of it. It made us lose our appetite. My wife and I went to the kenosha/pleasant prairie store. I ordered the coutry fried steak which came with biscuits and gravy. The country fried steak was old and tasted like an old leftover from another day and the gravy was so thick, you could put a fork in it and it would stand straight up. My wife had eggs and sausage with a side of pancakes. The sausage was also terrible and tasted old too. The food at this location is terrible, they should not call them selves a restaurant. It was very good at one time, but now, it doesn't seem as though they care about what they serve. They need to try and use fresh product. I review many restaurants and besides the very good service This store gets 1 star. read more

Cracker Barrel? More like Craper Barrel. Stopped by at 3pm for a late lunch and it was a terrible experience. We waited 20 minutes for service and they let us know that they seated us in a section without a server. They moved us and the new server was very quick to take our order. However, that was the only thing that was quick. Waited another 50 minutes and still no food. We ended up having to walk out and just paid for my drink on the way out. The lady at the checkout didn't even bother to acknowledge the inconvenience or offer to comp the soda. We were never even got acknowledged for refills or an update on our food status. However other tables were checked on multiple times. It seemed like they were having a really hard time with all the tables tonight and we weren't the only ones upset. Okay, I have to admit that I hate Cracker Barrel. Sorry but before this experience I had been to Cracker Barrel twice, not by choice, and this stop was not by choice either. My previous experiences left me completely at a loss for understanding why people love this place, they are over crowded with ridiculously expensive gift shops you have fight your way through to get a table, and food that can only be described as mediocre at best. While I still had to fight through the gift shop, on this visit I found the food to be very good, and the service to be great. On our way out I stopped in the bathroom and this is where one one star comes in. The bathroom was disgusting, had I gone in the bathroom first I wouldn't have eaten here. This will absolutely be my last time in any Cracker Barrel, if the bathroom is this disgusting, they obviously don't care about cleanliness of their restaurant. read more

DO NOT GO! Wow, it'll be never before I go back there. Served cold chicken at dinner, then the manager came over and told me that they should have been hot. I just asked him to remove the meal from our ticket, so he charged be a la carte for sides that I tried to eat while waiting ages for our server to come back. Terrible terrible service.
