This Cracker Barrel was wonderful! They knocked it out of the park. The catfish was excellent, the hush puppies were yummy. The hot cinnamon buns in the cast-iron dish, delicious. The atmosphere, the friendly service, everything was top-notch. The manager was so thoughtful and kind. He found out it was my first time at Cracker Barrel, he even brought over candy for the table to welcome us. I'm usually very picky and I honestly loved so much about this place. It was my first time going and I had not the highest of expectations originally. And they really did a great job. Also really loved the store! So much great merchandise, I also got this peanut brittle, which was inexpensive and good. Oh and also enjoyed the rocking chairs on the porch! Can't wait to go back. It really ticked all the boxes and the fact that they also serve breakfast all day too... There's a lot to really appreciate. read more

I'm not sure what to say about this.. it's cracker barrel... it's all in the same mediocre boat of applebees, chilis, and olive garden but maybe just maybe is ever so slightly "better"? Maybe the gift shop makes it seem more tolerable?... I've nerve had a super delicious meal at one but it's sometimes convenient to go to when on vacation and not many other things are open (such as this time). I ordered some type of broiled fish with lemon, it was okay. My daughter's mac & cheese from the kids menu had collared greens mixed in which looked like it came from them using the same scooper for both the mac & cheese and collared greens pot... I don't know many 4 year olds who want green leafy things mixed into their mac and cheese so that was fun to pick out :) And no, I didn't bring it up cause I wasn't going to be that customer. We did meet a very sweet group of older ladies who only spoke French sitting next to us and my daughter was in love with them. They asked to take a picture with her and I smile every time I think of her being in their vacation photo album... :) I know this has absolutely nothing to do with cracker barrel but it was the only "5 star" moment of being there. read more

Why 5 stars? Do not go during peak times! Majority of poor ratings are related to wait times, cold food and busy. Thus, if you can when they are not overwhelmed (whether by demand or due to poor management) these problems are irrelevant. I went at around 4 PM and ended up ordering half of what was on the menu. The chicken fried chicken is every big as good as you hear - crispy, flavorful, with a thick creamy gravy hits the spot. Obviously we did not finish it all, but I just had to experience what Cracker Barrel was offering - I'd never been before. And I am so glad I did. Be sure to get the pancakes and the apple butter too! read more

Decent Cracker Barrel, everything you'd expect it to be. Our waitress Ashley was fantastic. Coffees were refilled and creamers replenished. Food was pretty good. They did have a special French toast but I was told they were out of blueberries at 9am on a Monday. Disappointed but no big deal, I just got the regular one instead. The Cracker Barrel in Lancaster, PA is rated the #1 restaurant on Yelp. I don't know what has happened to the Cracker Barrel Restaurants. Supposedly, they have rebranded themselves! In my experiences, it has not been for the better. On Wednesday, 03/12, my party of two arrived at 5:25 pm. There was NO wait to be seated, and the restaurant was filled to about 30% capacity. We sat there with our menus for 20 minutes and were NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED!!!! No drinks, no nothing!! We finally got up and took our menus back to the hostess stand... This behavior is unacceptable!!! I often stop at Cracker Barrel's when I travel... thinking that I know what to expect. Very unhappy with this experience! All I can figure is: that Cracker Barrel restaurants offer early dinner from 4:00- 6:00 pm, and they planned to wait until after 6:00 pm to take our order. With behavior like this... you are rebranding the name but not in a good way. And, you wonder why you're losing customers! read more

The food was really good and the manager was so nice to us since we had to wait for the chicken. He took it off our bill. The service was great as well. We stopped in before our ride back to New York. The ambiance was so great. It made you feel like you were at your grandma's house. We had a great time, and every time we go out of town we will stop if there is a Cracker Barrell along the road. read more

Corn muffins muffins were warm wit a nice toasty outside but need sugar Biscuits were moist and fluffy Chicken fried chicken was slamming. Hella crispy and wonderfully seasoned, with nice thick gravy. Fried apples were sweet and still maintained a slight crunch. Green beans were seasoned well and cooked down. Meatloaf was very flavorful and had a nice char on top. Pancakes tasted just as good as they looked. And they were perfectly golden and not super thick. Coleslaw was sweet and crunchy. Loaded bake potato was slightly over cooked and I turn dried out the skin and some of the inside. The loaded toppings were everything and made up for this shortcoming. The service as stellar, our waitress was nice and attentive. She forgot the bacon but got it out to us quickly once we made mention. She's human so I won't knock her for that. So nonetheless she was extremely sweet and made it a pleasant experience. I wasn't a big Cracker Barrel fan prior to this visit, but todays experience has changed my view for sure. We always stop in Cracker Barrel when we visit family in Lancaster. Chicken and Dumplings are my fav! With Tunip Greens and Green Beans. And the beat biscuits ever. I normally do not like biscuits because they tend to be on the dry side but Cracker Barrel biscuits are delicious. I usually prefer corn bread but not here they're on the dry side. Hubby always get something different, this time he got the Country Fried Turkey since it was Thanksgiving weekend LOL. But he always have to get the Pinto Beans. We tried breakfast finally because it was Thanksgiving Day and everywhere else was closed. Cinnamon Roll Pie Breakfast was interesting. Cinnamon Roll in a pie crust, it was good lol. While visiting my mom this week, my goal was to get her away from my dad's tv blaring Fox News alllll---daaaay---looooong. I looked at yelp and offered several local eateries that I thought she'd like but to every one she said "no, I want to go to Cracker Barrel". So Cracker Barrel it was. The parking lot wasn't full but our 10 minute wait was really 20. Once seated, we were quickly greeted by Isaac. He took our drink orders - tea for mom, a gallon of water for me. When we got our drinks, he laughed as he gave me two glasses of thenthirst quenching liquid. It was Friday and it was lent so we were looking for something meatless. Friday's special was the Country Coastal Sampler - fried cod and shrimp so that's what we ordered. Our food came quickly, in typical Cracker Barrel style. What wasn't typical was the quality of the food. The beer battered cod was so thick with breading that once I peeled off the grease saturated breading, not much fish was left. The shrimp were no different - covered in so much greasy breading that the actual shrimp was almost lost. What was up to Cracker Barrel standards were our sides - Mac and cheese and carrots and the hot, fresh cornbread saved an otherwise disappointing meal. The bright spot of our meal was our service. Isaac was one step ahead of us our whole meal - as we were about to ask for something, he appeared with it - extra napkins, drink refills, our check. Each stop with a kind word or a smile. My mom tried to pay with a gift card. Unfortunately, the card was old, and while still valid, it was missing a pin. The cashier told us exactly what to do and even wrote the phone number to call directly on the card. This was obviously not the first time she has seen this. I have no doubt that we will be back. I'll get mom's gift card reinstated then we can make another escape from dad's all-day TV marathon. read more

We came on a Sunday and had an hour and 45 minute wait. It was not worth the wait. The waiter did not return to our table and multiple times we had to ask for him. The place was about half full when seated - I'm thinking it must be a staffing issue. We asked for biscuits and corn muffins - they came out our food came. I know it's a chain, and I know it's nothing fancy, but when I stop at a Cracker Barrel, I know exactly what I'm going to get. I don't mean, what I'm going to order, but it is a reliable stop full of comforting classics. This particular Cracker Barrel was a little slow on the service on a Sunday afternoon. The dining room was crowded but not crazy. It was odd, that for three of us, we were given 2 biscuits and 3 pieces of cornbread. We waited a bit to get refills. That said, I got the Sampler because I couldn't decide between Chicken and Dumplins or their meatloaf, both of which I love. Note to diners: if you get the honey ham, you get more of it than you would if you choose the saltier, drier, country ham, Oh, and we started with some of their new features- a loaded tater tot starter that was outrageously delicious and we had the beignets for dessert, also amazing. read more

I ordered the country fried shrimp and asked to substitute the steak fries with green beans and was told it couldn't be done. I've been to many Cracker Barrel restaurants and have never had an issue substituting. The manager said no. It used to be that you were able to pick your own sides. Why should I have to pay for something I won't eat? Come on Cracker Barrel. Do better! Also orders were not correct with several missing items. Let's start with the positive. Our waitress Emily was a gem. What a sweet, attentive young lady with a heart for service. She went out of her way to help us through what threatened to be a poor dining experience. Let me say from the outset that prior experiences to this location have been positive ones. Tonight seems to have been an anomaly but it does bear mentioning. Tonight I ordered the 14 Oz sirloin steak with sides of my all time favorite Cracker Barrel offering, loaded hash brown casserole. What came to the table was a, long over cooked piece of meat about one inch thick by one inch wide and about eight inches long. It looked nothing like "steak". (See picture). I had asked that it be cooked medium and specified that I wanted it light pink in the middle. The piece of meat that came to the table was thoroughly cooked, and had no pink left in it. I questioned the waitress about it and she agreed to have them cook me another more traditional steak. I asked that it not be cooked nearly as hard as the piece in error. At the same time I was working on this problem, my son who was dining with me, having ordered the same thing cut into his steak. It too was far overdone. Our waitress kindly offered to have them replace his steak as well. When my second steak arrived at the table, I cut into it, and found the center to be 100% raw. I don't believe it was oversight. I surmise that having two steaks returned upset the cook. The second piece of steak wasn't even close to being done and frankly, was likely a food borne illness risk. (See picture). At this point I asked for the manager, because I didn't want my son's replacement steak showing up the same way. The manager came to our table and observed both of my cuts of meat. She agreed that both had been cooked, or undercooked in error. She went to the back and personally cooked my son his replacement. It came out done perfectly. The manager kindly comped our meals and apologized for the significant issues we had experienced. The fact is that sometimes it is not about the mistake that sets the experience apart, but rather the way it was handled. In this case, the manager personally cooked my son's steak. She comped our meals. She was attentive and considerate to our needs and she addressed two problems. I can't ask for more. So, they get four stars from me for tonight. I hope and believe that my next experience here will be a far better one. Atmosphere was typical of Cracker Barrel and restrooms were clean. Parking was ample and well lit. read more

Not the same Cracker Barrel ..... food and customer service have deteriorated. Stopped for a quick lunch. .. Fried chicken and ribs. Had a new waitress... seemed polite. - first, our food took longer than expected, 3-4 tables that arrived after us were served... not super critical. - forgot our rolls and drink refills, chalk it up to a new employee... but when reminded, she still forgot. - complained that the ribs were under cooked. Manager sent the waitress back to tell us she didn't agree.... WHAT!!! Any respectable manager would visit the table and address the concern. Not the money, but the principle. Overall, not pleased with the visit to this location. Management obviously is not concerned with customer satisfaction. Poor training and , more importantly, a lack of professionalism with your guests is a recipe for failure in the food service business. We cane on a Tuesday evening around 6:20 pm. One hour wait list. They text you when table is ready. We were told one hour wait but ended up 1 he and 20 min. We sat on those rocking chair and waited. Waiter service was ok. Nothing outstanding. Serving time was fair. My side salad arrived fast. We ordered: - signature fried chicken with side salad ( extra $1.69) and Mac and cheese with cornbread. $10.99. Fried chicken was so so. Good seasoning. Breast was little dry. Cornbread was also on the dry side. Biscuit was way better. Salad is the best! All fresh ingredients and pretty loaded. - sirloin steak. $14.39. Sides are corn and hash brown. Asked for medium rare but came out medium. Meat was well seasoned. - kids meals: Mac and cheese: Taste good and cheesy. Good portion. Kids finished the dinner with dirt cup. $2.79. My first experience dining at Cracker Barrel was good because of the good food and service provided by our wonderful server. It was suggested that I try the meatloaf which I did decide to try along with mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and corn. The meal that I chose came with three side orders which made me quite happy. The menu has something for everyone. Let me tell you a little something about that meatloaf, it was mmmmmm mmmmmm good. It was so moist and simply delicious, filled with green peppers, red peppers and onions. I'm a person who takes my time eating my food but this meal was gone within ten minutes because I truly enjoyed it especially since it was my first time. I love all of the different items that were in the country store section. There's definitely something for everyone. read more

I went here tonight I called and called for a pick up order, sadly but true my order was wrongly done I order Homestyle chicken BLT 2 of them when I got home I only got bread chicken no sweet and Smokey Mayo in the bun no bacon and to complete no napkins or utensils even though I order a bake loaded potatoe, also as for the chicken sandwich blt I ask for one of them no tomatoes the one with out tomatoes had residue on the letters of tomato and the chicken was as cold as it can get! This was the best experience we have ever had at a Cracker Barrel restaurant. The hostess was very pleasant and promptly seated us at a good location. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable. The server was very professional and attentive. She was very friendly and seemed to be enjoying her job. The food was excellent, served hot and fresh. The bill was very fair for the ratio of food to cost in today's market. I almost hate to post this, only because it may bring more crowds in. And then with that comes the 1 hour waiting list. I will post this and hope that this location continues these high standards, and continues doing a great business. I am looking forward to eating at this location regularly even with it being about 20 minutes further away from the location nearest my home. read more

I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel restaurant in ages. My family, my boyfriend and I were in the area near Rockvale Outlets and it was getting to be about dinner time so we decided to come here. We got there around 7PM and the wait was about 50 minutes. This is because of COVID and having to seat people very spread out. Atmosphere: There was the option of outdoor seating but there were only 2 tables available and it was "first come first serve" which apparently was every single group waiting before us to be seated. There is a store inside of CB and it's very interesting. There's a lot of unique candies and gift shop items I've never seen before. They also sell some clothing and just general knock-knacks. They have pots, pans and other old country items hanging from the ceiling for decor and the staff were pretty nice. The restaurant is connected to the store but you have to put your name in with the worker at the front outside. There are rocking chairs and benches outside of the establishment under the hanging roof to wait and sit. When we were seated, the room is quite dim but cozy. Usually there's small board games on the table like pegs or checkers but with COVID, they can't have that out. It was generally moderate noise level, somewhat quiet (except for some loud kids and baby). Food: They did have a full menu which is almost rare now because most restaurants are limiting their menu due to COVID. We ordered roast beef, country fried steak and breaded/grilled catfish as our entrees. For our sides we had green beans, broccoli, mashed potatoes, dumplings, steak fries and mac'n cheese. All entrees were good, the grilled catfish was better than the breaded version. The country fried steak was VERY tender and moist! Yummy. The roast beef was actually not like other places where it's shredded or sliced, this was a slab of chuck roast and it was overall very tasty and tender. All of the sides were good except the dumplings...they were a little weird but maybe that's just because we've never had country style dumplings? I thought they tasted kind of bland like chicken pot pie but not that tasty. My favorite side was the green beans, I'm not sure what they put on it but it was just really good! I would recommend this place if you like country style comfort food. It's not our favorite place as we're not big comfort food people (at least not all the time). I don't see myself coming out of my way to come here, but if you're in the area or like comfort food then I'd recommend trying it. Stopped for breakfast on our way home from New York. Service was very friendly and quick. Our server Jasmine was very professional, helpful and pleasant. I didn't care for the sausage biscuit, it was just a bit to dry for my taste. The eggs were good. I have always loved the cheesy hash browns and was not disappointed. I was disappointed no original Charles Chips, only barbecue which I don't care for. I remember always getting Charles Chips in a can. The inside has a nice fireplace which is on during the winter months. There are tables in the dining area where a few people can go and play checkers (which the guys did while I waited). I had the fried chicken with the gravy on the side. I'm not a fan of the gravy so I'm glad I had it on the side. The corn was good, Mac and Cheese good. French fries were horrible as they were limp. Cornbread and Biscuits were added to the table. Cornbread was not for me but biscuits were amazing. Hubby had the meatloaf which he enjoyed very much. Kid had chicken tenders and he ate it all. Just love the hospitality of the servers and the whole setup of the restaurant and store. On this visit we sampled two chicken meals, the homestyle chicken and the apple cider bbq chicken. It was busy but the wait was not bad at all on a busy Sunday evening, plenty of seating here. The food was served quickly and was warm, including the biscuits + corn bread muffins. Bring your appetite, I do like that they offer lighter options now, grilled fish, chicken. My only criticism is I did feel rushed, I guess because they were trying to turn over tables. Our waiter asked us if we wanted dessert and we were just in the middle of dinner. Affordable food, fast service, home cooking yeah, it's one of those places you go to when you're in the mood to have country store atmosphere. Great location in Lancaster. read more

In town for a show at Sight snd Sound. This was a family event and we were a party of 6. From the beginning it was apparent they are short staffed. We were seated in 20 minutes. We noted an entire section not being utilized. Staff was friendly and accommodating, although busy. Three of six meals had issues, one was remade and showed up long after we were completed eating our meals. Rolls and muffins overcooked and came later. Love Cracker Barrel. Usually eat there several times a month. However the last 3 times we ate breakfast there food pancakes and egg benedict platter arrived cold. The last time, which was last week we even asked our waitress to make sure food was hot based on our previous 2 experiences (Mothers day and Fathers day). On those 2 holidays we were there at 8 am. Restaurant was not crowded so no excuse for cold food. On Mothers day we didnt say anything as it was out of character for this restaurant. However on Father's day they asked at the register how everything was and he told them. They said they were sorry. Now it has happened a third time within a short period of time. Not acceotable to serve cold food. I will say dinner food is always hot. Seems to be a problem with breakfast service. Probable will go someplace else for breakfast. read more

It's truly amazing how fast this CB can pump out food, turn tables and make what seems like a wait that will take forever actually seem not so bad. Our most recent CB visit was on a Saturday night with events occurring both up the road at Sight & Sound and across the street at the American Music Theatre (Oak Ridge Boys - Holla! #Giddy Up Oom Poppa Omm Poppa Mow Mow) so we knew the place would be packed. Sure enough they had a hostess at the door with iPad-like device taking names and blindly quoting everybody twenty minute wait times. Initially I thought no way in hell could that be right with how many people were mulling around inside but we had our name called in ten so, who knew? The food was standard CB chow hall style offerings and the service was very much on the lacking side but to be fair our server had a ton of tables and she getting pulled in too many directions at the same time. Hits Kids Grilled Cheese Apple Cider BBQ Chicken Misses Meatloaf that was Sahara Desert dry Corn Muffins that were delivered blacked/burnt on the top Overall the food was as usual passable and while there were some mistakes like the corn muffins, the meatloaf and the lack of drink refills the real problem is the lack of staffing combined with a full chow hall equaled that if you needed something you either weren't getting it or you weren't getting it anytime soon. As much as the food here is on occasion lacking things like flavor, texture or even correct cooking temperatures, if you need to be somewhere in the area in a hurry it's hard to knock their location or their ability to get you out the door in a hurry. read more
