I know it's a chain restaurant and I've never been here before but the meal was not too bad…read more A colleague and I grabbed a quick bite to eat both of us in the mood for steak. They start you out with a bag of peanuts. I guess you can shell them and throw the shelves on the floor, but we didn't. They quickly come with rolls with honey cinnamon butter. The rolls were meh but the honey cinnamon butter was outstanding. They'll bring you more if you want, we chose not to. I got the New York strip, prepared, medium, and of all the side choices they had, I went with the corn and the rice peel off. The bill came out at a pretty quick clip. It was hot. The steak was tender a little juicy overall pretty good. The corn was hot and outstanding. The rice was decent or what you would expect from a restaurant like this. If you're looking for something quick and not super expensive, you might check this place out. The place was absolutely packed for a Monday night too.

We ordered the full-size back ribs, which were just okay for us -- way too much BBQ sauce, and the meat was a bit on the dry side. My husband also ordered a steak (something like a T-bone), and he didn't finish it either. It was pretty average. The portions for both mains and sides are huge. We had corn, sweet potato, green beans, and fresh veggies. * The green beans were surprisingly delicious -- cooked with bits of meat and super flavorful. * The fresh veggies (broccoli + carrots) were simple but very fresh; Ada actually finished the whole plate. * And the bread rolls were the star of the meal -- warm, soft, slightly sweet, and amazing with the honey butter. The drinks are also very large and very sweet. My sangria came in a huge glass and was on the sweet side -- definitely fits the classic heavy-sweet BBQ vibe. Service was great: our server checked on us frequently, and the manager even stopped by once to make sure everything was good. Overall: big portions, great service, very sweet flavors. If you love sweet BBQ and generous servings, you'll probably really enjoy it. For us, the sides and bread rolls were the highlights, while the mains were just okay

I stopped by here yesterday with my family for dinner. We had ridden the Strasburg Railroad earlier…read morein the day and were looking for a place to eat when I fired up Yelp and found the Tavern by Spring House Brewing. It is located on East Main Street in downtown Strasburg. The inside consists of a large main room with an L shaped bar, a number of TVs, and then a second dining room off to the side. Since no one was seated in the second room and we had twin four year olds with us, we chose that space. Unfortunately the TV in that room was broken, so we were not able to watch the Steelers game that was on. Aside from that, the room itself had a cozy and slightly eclectic feel. There was a decorated Christmas tree lit up in the corner near the staircase which gave the space a warm seasonal vibe. The walls were decorated with brewery signs and beer themed banners, and a bright yellow decorative mantel stood out against the darker wall colors. Overall it felt casual and welcoming and worked well for a family dinner. For dinner on this evening I went with the Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak while my wife chose the K Town Mac Bowl. The menu described my wife's dish as three cheese cavatappi pasta with smoked pork slaw, Korean BBQ drizzle, sesame seeds, and scallions. My sandwich was described as smoked chicken, American cheese, buffalo sauce, gorgonzola, onion frizzles, ranch drizzle, and a hoagie roll. I thought my sandwich ended up being good, especially since it was chock full of chicken. The hoagie roll was toasted and buttered nicely and added a good crunch, which the onion frizzles helped reinforce. The gorgonzola added a nice pungent pop of flavor. While I did get some buffalo flavor, I definitely could have used more. Because of that, the sandwich was a little on the drier side despite having cheese, buffalo sauce, and ranch drizzle. My fries were seasoned and had a nice texture, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a flight here. At Spring House Brewing, a flight consists of four beers and I chose the Cucumber Salamander, Backroads Shadows, Daily Planet, and Love and Rockets. The Love and Rockets ended up getting mixed up and I was instead served Grease the Poles. I started with the Cucumber Salamander, which is a sour. It was a bit tart right from the start and that carried through to the finish, with a little extra pucker at the end. Up next was Backroads Shadows, a lager with a crisp, clean start before the malts came through on the finish. This felt like a really good easy drinking beer. Third was Daily Planet, an IPA that had citrus up front followed by a solid hop presence that carried through the finish. Last was Grease the Poles, a pale lager that started off very clean before finishing with some lighter hop notes. Out of the bunch, the Cucumber Salamander was definitely my favorite. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Our food and drinks were good, and I would be interested in trying more of their beers.

Looked like there was only 2 servers for the entire place which was busy. My husband liked his chili, so that's the two star review. He said it had a lot of flavor. I had the brisket sandwich which was very small for the price with not a lot of meat. The meat had no flavor at all. Was not served with the au ju, which I had to ask for. Unfortunately, the au ju did not make it any better. The Cole slaw had a good flavor and was not sweet, so that was the best part of the food.

The food was really good. My husband said the salmon was amazing. My chicken Parmesan was more like a fried chicken breast. It was very good but very thin. I did not taste any Parmesan cheese in the crust and was only given a few cold slices of shaved Parmesan on top. It would've been much better if the cheese had been melted. Our server was very polite. It did take a while for us to get recognized after we sat down and to get refills. But I would definitely go there again. The prices were very reasonable, much cheaper than I expected-under $25 for each entree. You also get a basket of bread. The portion sizes were very generous. I recommend this for a nice evening out without kids. Very nice place to eat with good food.

Ambience - I see that others described the decor as "vintage" and that would be an accurate description. The dining room and buffet stations are a little dimly lit. Nothing really jumped out as outstanding, but everything was generally slightly above average in quality by buffet standards. The price honestly is way too high for what you get. It was $41 with a drink for lunch, not typically what I'll spend and in this case way overpriced. I did like the carving station with the ham. The peel and eat shrimp was good and the fried chicken was good, but not warm and very limited on selection of the pieces. The sides were OK maybe they just weren't my thing. The entryway is really cool. The server only brought drinks so not a lot of interaction there. I think it has potential, but for some reason, I did not get the full five star lunch. Not impressed.

But awesome all the same! For how busy they were, the server was very attentive and very accommodating as we were yapping away and constantly not ready with our orders so kuddos for the team and putting up with us! I love the mystery beer concept, its not great beer, but being from DC at like $2 a can, I am not passing that up, ever. And a cheap beer with a burger is the perfect combo! On to the burger... I have heard that this is a great burger... and I have to conclude that I agree though it is reminiscent of a Big Mac - just way better ingredients - it has to be the sauce they put on it... Anyway, nice size patty, good amount of toppings and a quality bun (not too soft, not too thick, bread soaks up some of the juices but doesn't fall apart). The mussels were quite excellent as well. It was a Thai curry broth the night we were there and it was drinkable, like soup... we did ask for extra bread... enough said. I am going to take a minute too and praise their spirit free cocktails. THIS IS HOW THEY SHOULD BE MADE. They used bitters, tonics, etc to craft something that tasted like a cocktail but without alcohol which means they were not sickly sugary concoctions, but expertly crafted beverages. Just really great options. All that said though, their espresso martini was one of the worst I have had. Just skip that.
