Haven't done a review here for a long time but then again haven't been here In a while. Same old country styled store of days gone by decor. Seated close to the fireplace it provided a nice warm ambiance. I ordered the old timers breakfast 2eggs over med. w/sausage biscuit and gravy a side of grits. Basic breakfast still should be better! Biscuits and gravy here are great and pretty much a standard. My eggs were made perfect. The sausage however were like eating two dried out coasters and the grits were watery! Actually had better sausage and grits on breakfast buffet lines! The wife ordered pecan pancakes usually the reason we end up at Cracker Barrel. She absolutely loves them and commented how many pecans were in them! She also enjoyed their Butter Pecan syrup they provided. Back for some dinner...havent been in a while. Makes it easy to track my meal since calories are on the menu. Delicious as always. Service was good, but not great. Initially, my coffee was barely warm but our server was quick to bring another cup of fresh, hot coffee. Plenty of calorie friendly options, which is nice. I had the hamburger steak (yum!) and my wife had the meatloaf. Hashbrown casserole is amazing. We love looking around the shop after the meal as well. Bathroom was clean and well kept. Horrible service, horrible spoilt food. Do NOT go to this location. Very impolite unprofessional waitress, named Jade. Jade came to our table within 1 minute of us sitting down and asked what we wanted to order, then 'rolled' her eyes when we said we weren't ready. She returned within 45 seconds and did the same thing. After waiting 30 minutes for our food, Jade told us she was 'exceptionally' giving us a bread basket because our food was taking sooooo long. She returned with the wrong bread (white bread, instead of the corn muffins we requested). Bread baskets are not 'exceptions' but regular part of dining. Guess she thought she would get a better tip if she pretended to give us something 'extra'. With my meal she did not bring the syrup that came with the french toast. When my husband explained the french toast was dry and needed the syrup. She laughed and walked off. She never brought us the syrup. For my husband's dish she brought it without the side he had ordered. She stated that the pinto beans he ordered "did not look too good"' so the kitchen was not serving them. She arrived with a substitute, which was an inedible freezing cold dish of collard greens that was watery and very salty and should have been in the garbage. We explained they were inedible and she took them away, laughing saying people were sending sides back at her other tables. too Same issue with a side of ham, that we sent back as it was definitely spoiled, smelled rancid, and tasted terrible. She explained that the neighborhood had been out of electricity and people were sending their food back. Maybe the food had spoiled but the Cracker Barrel management decided to stay open and sell what they could. When the bill arrived I was shocked to see that she did not reduce my husband''s meal for the undelivered side, and even more shocking added an extra $2.99 for the spoiled ham that she took back to the kitchen and knew we did not eat. When I asked her about it, she laughed and said 'alright I shouldn't have charged for that!'. Terrible food, terrible service. Spend your dollars elsewhere. This place needs a new manager, waitresses that are trained in how to treat people politely, and reduce the bills when food is sent back due to being inedible and spoilt. read more

Our experience at Cracker Barrel was extremely disappointing. Our server, Kyle, had to be reminded multiple times about things we ordered, and we ended up having to ask other servers for help just to get basic service. Alright, let's bring this one up to the current. Fast forward 12 years from our last visit but the same rules still apply. We're on our way to a concert in Shippensburg, we're running late and had less than no time, but this CB looked like it wasn't too busy for an early Friday night. Meatloaf - Country Fried Turkey Overall, with CB the food is what it is. The portions are large but the quality is always all over the place. Steak fries that are over salted, the top of the meatloaf is almost always burnt black, the corn is soaking wet and the liquid from it infiltrates the rest of what's on the plate, etc. We let our server know that we would make it worth her time to push our order through as we had maybe...45 minutes. No problem. Door to door in about 34. Fantastic. Look, CB is never going to be a place that I'm seeking to eat at. But, sometimes the need for a quick road food greasing calls and usually if you're travelling on/near/by roads like 95, 81, 83 or the PA Turnpike, chances are you'll see one (more than likely multiple) nearby. Went to Crackel Barrel while on the way to an amusement park, The store was so cute and the halloween decor already being out made me happy. The pancakes were big and better than the French Toast. The biscuits were fluffy and the gravy to go with it made it even better. The food took a while but it was definitely fresh and hot. A couple of weeks ago I got "to go" and when I got home, I was missing items. the chicken tenders were microwaved. You couldn't even cut them in half.I talked to customer service. What the heck has happened to this chain. There is a list this visit . Had to ask for napkins. Had to ask for sugar/ sweetener. None on table .they were out of chicken pie. I basically love Cracker Barrel restaurants but don't live anywhere near one. So it was a real treat to find this one on our way home from Reading, PA. We were seated quickly and our waiter, Jordan, was super-attentive. My son-in-law was wearing a Steelers' shirt, so they struck up a conversation right off about their team. SIL had a burger that he said was very good, and Jordan kept his tea refilled several times throughout. I opted for the Saturday special - fried pork chops, and I close corn and cole slaw for sides. The sides were very good, but the highlight was the chops. Generously breaded and fried just right - tender and juicy and delicious. But after doing some research, I was able to order Uncle Hershel's with a pork chop and two basted eggs. Not good! In town for work and first time to visit to this location. All three meals delivered to the table were less than desirable to eat. The biscuits brought to the table were the only things good. Another positive comment is for the new waitress doing her best to handle our table and several others. While driving back from WV to NY, we stopped at this CB. To tell you the truth, it wasn't easy to find this place. We made it after two times driving around the same area. Usually I'm good at mapping but not when I'm hungry! Like every other CB, the store in the front, the restaurant in the back, and the people do both eating, then shopping. I ordered trout and Hubby had a pork chop, which he said it didn't taste very good. My trout was all right. The trout came with a side order, so I picked steamed broccoli. Hubby's entree came with lima beans. We liked the vegetables more than the entrees. We thought they could do better with the flavor. Salad was good. Service was good, no problem. was visiting this past Saturday morning for breakfast. The waitress she took our whole order including our drinks. There were 5 of us , including 2 kids (ages5&8) . We were waiting for a very long time seeing other tables receiving their food. At this time it was already an hour we were waiting. We flagged down our waitress and asked what was going on. she said she would go find out, she never returned!!! So I went looking for a manager who already knew about the situation. she started off by trying to tell me that she was short staff. Never gave me explanation on why we didn't receive our food, nor did we see our waitress again. Very poor customer service! We ended up getting our food over an hour and a half later. The food here is always consistent. Service is good. If there is a wait, the store is nice to browse in. We usually go for breakfast. I get the Country Boy Breakfast. It is more than enough. The Country Ham is nice and salty. Perfect for breakfast. My daughter likes the Kids Pancakes with Fruity Pebbles. And enjoys the biscuits. The coffee is nice and hot and flavorful. If you need more caffeine before you go, ask for a cup to go. I also love the Wild Blueberry Pancakes. They serve them with warm blueberry syrup. Very tasty. And now I'm hungry! read more

This is the place to go for comfort food. Some things are a miss, but I know to order something else. I love the meatloaf and it is usually my order. Since it was Sunday, I ordered the pot roast special. It was delicious and more like a hearty vegetable beef soup. Don't order the sausage gravy over biscuits. The gravy was so thick and congealed you could eat it with a fork. My former favorite was the Sunday chicken. Cracker Barrel was recently recommended by a neighbor for breakfast and hence was the first one on my list to check out when the potluck came up. I ordered 2 casserole - one Veggie and the other Ham & Cheese. They were both excellent. There were more meat eaters in the group. Ham & Cheese casserole was much appreciated by everyone. I loved the Veggie one. Packing was elegant. Plasticware and serving spoons were included. Food came out piping hot and on time. I used online ordering and payment from their website. The process was a breeze. There were different options to create an account or order as a guest. I started ordering as a guest, then changed my mind and clicked on create an account. The website pre-populated the information I had already entered and saved me time from re-entering all the information. When I reached the store, the check-out hostess already had my information. Easy-peasy! Will have to visit soon to eat in and review the table service. read more

THIS REVIEW IS ABOUT THE COUNTRY STORE ONLY! I haven't been to CB for many years. I got sick after eating a meal at a CB & haven't been back just in case. It could have been the food or just purely coincidental I'll never know so I won't talk about that, but I do want to talk about my recent experience in the store. DISAPPOINTMENT plagued my every turn around the room! CB was one of my first jobs & I was madly in love with the country store full of delightful home decor, candy treats, and toys you couldn't find anywhere else. They got a large chunk of my pay check back & I still have many of those items in top quality condition still today 20+ years later. My family is putting together ornaments for this year's Christmas presents & I couldn't wait to get to CB to see what nostalgic finds I could buy. I left with nothing. The moment I walked in the store the first thing I saw was a Disney display. I love Disney, however Disney is not what I think of when I think Old Country Store. The ornaments were generic ornaments I could buy anywhere think birds, flowers, and plastic 'crystal' snowflakes. Some of the ornaments were a box of cereal or can of Pringles. That might be the most nostalgic old country store feel I could find. I realize things change because of Covid so I noticed no jars of candy behind the register and no wrapping station in the center of the room OR maybe it was there I just didn't see it through the clutter. I went looking for the buckeyes, you know those delicious chocolate & peanut butter candies? I couldn't find them among all the chain store candy I can buy anywhere & probably for cheaper. I know things change & they're probably facing the financial trouble too, but to sacrifice the quality and uniqueness of what makes your name sake "Cracker Barrel Old Country Store" is truly disheartening. Maybe in a few years time, I'll have reason to return again and write a better review. I'm very sad to write this one, but though I didn't get the nostalgic ornament I was hoping for it did bring up fond wonderful memories of my time with the company and I pray they continue to succeed. read more

Ignorant. Discourteous. Rude. These are just a few words i can use to describe the treatment my wife and I received from the manager at this cracker barrel. As a vet I appreciate the places that give back. I've eaten at many CBs all over. This was the first one that denied me a military discount. Even after showing the manager my ID and the CB website where they are listed as a participating member of Veterans Advantage she REFUSED to honor the discount. She told me that this only applies to the southern CB. Really?!?! This CB is only a few miles from the Army War College and Navy Distribution Center. Well family decided to dine here this evening. Hadn't been to a Cracker Barrel in just under a year. Everything was subpar in reference to quality. The first meal which was French toast look like they took white bread and just used a brush to put egg yolk over it and lightly grilled it. Eggs were supposed to be over easy came out scrambled. The chicken pot pie is basically their chicken and dumplings with some carrots peas and a pie crust topping. Steak dinner was requested to be cooked well done, came out medium rare. Chicken tender meal was good. The country fried steak you can tell was previously frozen patties that they either deep fry or steam. Not very good. I was hoping for a better experience. Here at 845 on a Saturday morning and hardly any tables sat, saying a 15 minute wait due to staff not getting here til 9 am. Waited a half hour to get sat. Terrible staffing and service. On a recent road trip, hubby and I were hungry and Cracker Barrel's are always conveniently located right off the main road. I'm a fan of this chain, I love the large country store that has decent prices and I love their vast supply of holiday decorations that are unique, candy from days gone by that you will not find in many other stores and things that one uses daily. They have many clearance sections, which is jam packed with great bargains. I really do like Cracker Barrel's food, tastes just like it would if you made it from scratch and hey, who makes homemade dumplings like your grandmother did these days? Pinto beans or turnip greens cooked with onions and ham, they peel and mash potatoes, roast their own turkey breast and beef roasts and their meat loaf is awesome, love their mac & cheese, hash brown casserole, made from scratch buttermilk biscuits with sawmill gravy and their boneless fried chicken on Sunday's is a must. I have lived in areas where they compete to have the best fish and chips, but on Friday's you will find the best battered cod or haddock at Cracker Barrel. So as you can tell, I am a big fan of Cracker Barrel, however this was the most disappointing experience I have ever had! I saw stars, literally, four gold stars on each and every apron, which means what? Surely it means that they should know how to service customers, but this was the worst service from beginning to end. I needed to use the ladies room while hubby walked the dog and I was greeted by the woman who was stocking the store, however I stood at the hostess stand a good five minutes with this same woman right behind me and the cashier right beside me who was doing nothing. I finally said, are we supposed to seat ourselves and the woman behind me snapped, she'll be right with you Mam, while the cashier did apologize and called the hostess to the stand who came running out of the kitchen, now mind you this store and restaurant was not at all busy! I'm not going to give names on Yelp, but the hostess was friendly, yet very brief, I am used to them telling me what the specials are and who my server will be, she did neither of these things. Hubby told me what he wanted to eat and we were in a hurry, we sat and he decided to use the men's room and then I sat some more. A server approached the table after another good five minutes and asked what we wanted to drink, I told him and mentioned that we were in a hurry and ready to order. He announced, well I am not your server and I am just helping him out by getting your drinks. All four star aprons were on board this ship and man they were sinking fast! We got our drinks and waited at least another 5 minutes, so now we are at 15 probably more like 20 minutes inside and still have not placed our order! Our server dropped a check to the table next to us that were sitting with empty dirty dishes piled high in front of them and asked how everything was, they said it was fine, immediately stood up and left and he did not even attempt to clear one dish and they were obviously waiting for their check. He then came to our table, never told us what the specials were, never greeted us and just asked if we were ready to order, ( hello, we knew what we wanted before we even came in, is what I wanted to say ) we ordered, hubby had a bacon and cheese omelet with hash browns green peppers and onions, I had scrambled eggs with cheese, hash brown casserole, crispy thick slab bacon and biscuits with gravy, oink. Our food came right out once we ordered and was hot and delicious while we watched our server walking past many, many dirty tables with scattered dirty dishes and glasses all over them and walked into the kitchen a good ten times with an empty tray. We ate quickly, because we were starving and in a bit of a hurry and once we were finished eating I stacked all of our plates and empty glasses towards the outside edge of the table and we waited and waited and waited some more for our check while this bumblef**k of a server kept walking out into the dining room with a coffee pot, glanced our way and just walked back into the kitchen with only the pot. Hubby said he was going back outside with the dog and I waited a good five more minutes while sitting and then I finally stood up right beside my table for another five minutes and he glanced my way and did nothing! Finally getting my check and with no apologies or thank you for coming in or even a how in the hell was everything, I went out to pay my bill. I witnessed a manager twice during this hour of frustration, when it took us ten minutes to eat and I never saw him once go to a table to greet them or to see if they were enjoying their Cracker Barrel experience! I left one of the lousiest tips I have ever left, 15% and little did this server know I am a hefty tipper and it killed me to not totally stiff him. If these four star aprons are the cream of the crop then this Cracker Barrel has major issues! read more

On the table we had the summer special, the southern fried chicken which got a rave from a picky eater. Traditional biscuits n gravy, dumplings, bacon egg cheese, mac n cheese, slaw and catfish.
