This chain used to provide great value and you got a very fair portion of good food with each order. Not so anymore. The prices have soared and the food value has declined greatly. We ate there yesterday and the breakfast was extremely poor. I don't understand why they cut portions for servings that are inexpensive. Grits for example. We were served such a small portion of grits in a small bowl that we both laughed at it. I would be embarrassed to serve food as they did. Same can be said for their biscuits and gravy. Having spent most of my life in California, I had never been exposed to a Cracker Barrel until I was an adult driving cross country. It was the first time I had ever had "grits", despite having been curious after "My Cousin Vinny" - Yeah, sad.. I know. But I did, and I ordered all sorts of southern comfort food I had never tried before, such as Turnip Greens. I loved it, and ever since, Cracker Barrel, while a big chain, has been a treat for me. Now I live right down the street from one, and every once in a while I just need to have it. This was my first visit to a Cracker Barrel restaurant. There was one near the place we were staying at during our vacation. My brother raved about the place, so I asked my mom that we eat there before heading back home. For my first time being there, I loved how when you enter the restaurant they have a little store where you can find cute little things and souvenirs. I found that some of their candies and treats had its original packaging, giving it an "old school" look. Very cute. Don't see those now-a-days. The food was okay. We always get tripped up by the slow and inattentive service when we come to this location. It's unfortunate, because we've never had that issue at any other CB up and down the coast. Examples include 10 minute waits for water, bringing the wrong meal, wrong bread, etc. Lots of things that can be corrected simply just don't get fixed. Usually the food quality is OK, but we've had issues with temperature. Again, an issue of inattentive servers who aren't meeting their standards. Just to note: Usually there are 3-4 tables dining in the entire restaurant when we come in. So, there's not really an excuse for the speed. read more

This is my reliable spot for breakfast in Brevard. If me and my mom are going out shopping for awhile and we are hungry we always come here. Never a long wait to be seated. Cracker Barrel used to be one of my most favorite breakfast restaurants. But over the past couple of years, they have become progressively worse. Today, we decided to have our regular Saturday morning breakfast at the Cracker Barrel in Suntree (Viera) after having decided previously not to return - after a particularly lousy breakfast fiasco several months ago. Everyone deserves a second chance, right? When we arrived, we were seated fairly quickly, though I must tell you that the hostess tried to seat us in a table stuffed in a corner by the kitchen that my mother's wheelchair obviously would not fit - one side was backed up to the wall and the other had a very full table with little room for a wheelchair, let alone breathing for a regularly seated person. After polite objection, she seated us at a table that was already set up for a wheelchair, nearby. We were seated at exactly 9 a.m. I know this because I was checking my phone messages. We placed our drink and since we already knew what we wanted, our food order. While our drinks arrived fairly quickly. Our food order took 45 minutes to arrive. The server arrived to inform us that it was taking longer than anticipated because the grills had been turned up too high and they were burning all the eggs. A seemingly bogus claim considering that others, who had been seated after us, were clearly getting their egg orders ahead of us. But whatever... It's worth noting that we were seated in a dining room that was perhaps only 20% full. Forty-five minutes folks. So, the food arrives and, just like last time, everything is wrong. My mother's order was cold, cold. Nothing about it was warm, at all, so it was sent back. My mom's friend's food was cold but she refused to send it back. My order - I always order the country fried CHICKEN and I make sure they write down chicken and they always read it back - was wrong. Of course they gave me the country fried steak. Again. You know, Cracker Barrel, the third time in a row is NOT the charm. I still won't eat the steak. This is why I always make sure they write down chicken - because I always get steak. So I sent that back as well. The manager came out and tells us that she has "taken care" of both my meal and my mother's meal and removed them from the check. Funny thing is that my meal was still on there when the bill arrived. Since my mother's friend was picking up the bill, I'm not sure if she brought that up to the cashier or not. This will be the last time we visit this Cracker Barrel. It has literally been years since we have had a meal that was brought out correctly and within a reasonable amount of time. Some will say, "well, maybe they were busy..." I don't buy it. The store was mostly empty. read more

Worst experience I've ever had in a Cracker Barrel. We're told when we got there that it wasn't busy and we were seating right away. Had to wait almost 20 min before a waitress asked us for our drink which we went ahead and ordered our food at the same time. 40 minutes later our food showed up and the cheese was congealed and the eggs were cold. I live close to this particular location. And when we're on the road, we often stop at Cracker Barrels off the highway since it's reliable, not fast food. This is my favorite one----I was just there today for a tasty lemon pepper grilled trout. But did you KNOW that not all the CBs offer this entree? It's true. Though in another state a few months ago---can't recall where---cod was on the menu. The service at this Wickham Rd. one is usually pretty fast. And friendly! (About 5 yrs. ago, I told our server how great the service was at her location, and she told me a little story. She said she and other waitresses had gone bowling near another local Cracker Barrel and stopped there for a meal after leaving the alley. Well, the Wickham women didn't tell the other CB waitperson they,too, worked at one, and the service was poor. I've found this, overall, to be pretty true in all my Cracker Barrel experience. Overall, the CB service is friendly and pretty good, but you can't beat this Wickham one.) I'm puzzled by the other reviewer's comment about not being able to get meatloaf. I believe it's always on the menu. The hashbrown casserole, in my quick mental tally here, is the one item listed where it's available 'til it runs out. Haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in years. Was in the Viera area and said why not. I forgot about the gift store you have to navigate in order to find the hostess and it gave me a bit of nostalgia. The staff is extremely polite and soon enough I was seated. It's busy in there, servers are everywhere and are helpful. My coffee and water were never left empty longer than two minutes, I was impressed. The food wasn't bad either. I opted for something a bit healthier ordering a parfait with granola along with my scrambled eggs and Turkey bacon- I couldn't resist the hashbrown casserole so I ordered it on the side . I really like CB. But tonight's visit was a little disappointing, to say the least. The cornbread was undercooked. I ordered a sunrise sampler which is supposed to come with hash browns. After asking about it twice, I finally got the hash browns, after I had finished my meal. It was nearly the same story on tea refills. I don't know if the problem was with the wait staff or the kitchen. But I elected to still tip my waitress well as everyone should be permitted to have a bad day, I suppose. read more

I love Cracker Barrel restaurants. We always made sure to dine there when vacationing. The one thing that impresses me about this chain inconsistency in the food and wait staff. I have been eating at this chain 25+ years and have dined in different states. I have never had a bad meal or bad service...ever. I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner there over the years. The food is stellar. I love their Chicken Pie, Blackened Cat Fish and the Chicken Livers. The portions are good sized. I always need a box to go. The side dishes are fabulous! I love the fried Okra, Cheesy Potato Casserole and the Creamed Spinach. Each meal comes with Corn Bread and Biscuits. I am usually too full for dessert, but my husband enjoys the Apple Pie and Fruit Crumble. Expect to wait before being seated. The restaurant is busy. They do have a lovely Old Country Store that sells just about everything. It is fun to shop and passes the wait time. Check out the old fashioned candy area. Brings back memories from my childhood. Customer service is excellent with courteous staff. Clean restaurant and bathrooms. You cannot have a bad meal here. read more
