Let me explain how Cracker Barrel almost did us in... but we had a time nonetheless. The assignment: Father's Day lunch. I'm going to start by saying Cracker Barrel has never let me down when it comes to my dad enjoying his food. He prefers this location versus the alternative one in Murfreesboro because of the location and because it's always less crowded. You can't have Cracker Barrel without sweet tea. It was this fact that almost caused us not to get to the main course... I'm exaggerating but the tea was sweet! And when I say sweet I mean I mixed it with half a glass of water and I still had to let the ice melt. Once that was resolved we had a nice lil father daughter lunch! I enjoyed catching up one on one with my dad and this location created no fuss. My dad got the NY strip which I've never seen him order. It was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. His sides looked a little bland but it's nothing salt can't mitigate. I got the vegetable plate (4 sides: pinto beans, hash brown casserole, dumplings, fried apples). I have been going to Cracker Barrel since I was born so I am used to the Sunday crowd! It's a hot spot for after church. My mother and I went today (June 7th) and the one on Chaffin Place was covered up so we ventured out to the one on church street! Man it was so not crowded! We didn't wait one bit and the food was good. I got the kids grilled tenders and green beans. Green beans were as flavorful as they could have been but nonetheless they were still great. The grilled tenders are divine! Moist, tender and flavored to perfection. The biscuits are always top notch! Definitely will be going back to this one! read more

Had a taste for steak and eggs and chose Cracker Barrel over I Hop. Asked to be seated by a window and was told nothing was available so I was placed in the heaviest traffic area just in front of the fireplace. I sat there for 10 minutes before a server arrived. When one did arrive I ordered steak and eggs, two scrambled and one over medium, and the French toast. As I endured a 40 minute wait for my food to arrive I noticed numerous people being seated in window seats, many people being served quicker than me that arrived after me. Although when my food did finally arrive it was delicious but judging from the coldness of the the food it had been sitting for a while instead of being served hot. Another strong link in this national chain of restaurants. I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience at a cracker barrel, either with food or generally with the dining experience. I mostly come here after church with the Sunday crowd. On those days the wait can be lengthy but still worth it. I also travel across country and have had the pleasure of going to multiple locations and I can say there is a uniformly great standard here. Went there for my youngest son's birthday, the host was very welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home immediately. Our server, Michael, was fantastic! He was very kind to my kids, made sure everything was good and our glasses were always full. Disappointing. Hamburger steak was very overcooked, borderline burnt. Dumplings were just 3 small dumplings with lots of liquid. Turnip greens weren't seasoned properly. Biscuits were tiny. Everything else was just okay. We've eaten at cracker barrel for decades, so we know what the food is supposed to taste like, but this is the third location in the past year that has been less than stellar and made us regret spending our money there. The strawberry one is my fave! I always get the veggie plate or chicken and dumplings now that I am eating some chicken, but still stick to primarily a vegetarian diet. My chicken and dumplings were good. That's the only reason for a star at all. Potatoes were thick and tasteless. Had to ask multiple times for gravy and butter. Never got rolls. Another server had to go find ours to even take a drink order after we had been there for 15 minutes. I picked my youngest up from school Friday at the beginning of Christmas break. He was out early due to a two hour day. When I picked him up he was complaining that he was hungry and asked if we could grab a quick bite. We decided on Cracker Barrel which is always a great treat. I recently ate at this location and was very disappointed in their food. I ordered their Southern Fried Chicken meal which is my normal go to and received undercooked chicken that I could not eat. The manager apologized and offered to replace the item but I did not trust receiving a cooked meal so simply requested another side of dumplings. She said she would have those sent out and we would not be charged for the chicken meal. Surprise! We were charged. There was no adjustment made for the chicken that was unsafe to eat. Overall, the food quality has declined to the point that I do not intend to return. It is sad as Cracker Barrel was one of our favorite places to eat until about a year ago when the quality and service really went downhill. The restaurant was almost empty and I am sure this is part due to the turmoil over the company's recent attempt to rebrand their store. I would have expected there to be superior service and food to counteract the negative response to their business plan debacle. read more

I love Cracker Barrel South Church!! The service I got from my server, Lilly, was amazing. She brought out my Country Fried Steak faster than I could have expected; it was hot and delicious. Props to the kitchen! Lilly kept my sweet tea full consistently, and she always stopped by and made sure I had everything I needed. Very sweet girl. Wanted a place that had corn bread and turnip greens and most mom and pop restaurants were closed on New Years Day. So Cracker Barrel was our option. They still have great tasting food. Service is amazing. Visited on a very busy day. (04/06/2024) Server Katie was working with all she had. If she wasn't helping our table she was taking food out over and over to other tables. She always smiled. I go to stores often and never fall for upselling, but Katie is very convincing and took care of us so well that we got some extra desert and tried a new mimosa. Went to this establishment this morning around 9:50am and left around 10:19, the wife wanted to order an alcoholic beverage... she's 24 years old and had a valid government issued in date drivers license... they denied serving her alcohol and said the ID wasn't valid because it was a vertical driver's license even though it was acceptable and valid and it is accepted literally every single where we have been. They got my order correct. Food was hot. Food was ready when promised. Greens were not as good as usual.

We've given this location multiple chances in hopes that maybe it was just an off day for them. But sadly no. The first time we went, the food was ice cold. Service was not great, not the best attitudes. The second time we went, my husband had an opened sugar packet in his mashed potatoes that he did not discover until after he'd taken the bite. This last time was the final time we will be coming here. My husband ate the Shepard's pie (which came out cold the first time) and has food poisoning from it. He is very very sick. My husband and I ate at the Church St location in Murfreesboro TN and we had a waitress by the name of Maddie. She was very nice an attentive. She made sure we had everything we needed, that our food was good and kept our drinks refilled. The food was fresh and hot. My husband had the steak and he hasn't stopped talking about how good it was. He told the waitress to tell the chef they did an amazing job on seasoning and cooking that steak. I have been to EVERY Cracker Barrel in Murfreesboro, and I really want to know what has happened to them... I no longer eat there because when I do, the food is substandard compared to years past. I never ask for refunds or anything to throw shade on Yelp like many do, I simply say I can't eat it as it doesn't taste right... and no, please don't replace it (it's been done in the past and was no better...) as I'm no longer hungry. I assure them that I'm okay and to just forget it, which I probably shouldn't do, but I'm sick of seeing so many people/places diss Yelp and as I've given Cracker Barrel numerous chances to improve I have to speak up as it's not ONE place it's EVERYWHERE I have been, and I have been to several with a friend who's had the same bad food with me... so it's not just ME. It's like that Cher song "Turn Back Time"... if we only could it would be awesome... as I still can't figure out why they'd change tried and true recipes to whatever they are now. That has to be the reason I'm getting consistency in the yucky tasting food in numerous restaurants because how else could one explain it? I've recently been on a bit of a road-trip kick, and therefore, on a Cracker Barrel kick. I feel like the two go hand-in-hand. On the way back from Chattanooga, this was the chosen Cracker Barrel for my first ever non-breakfast CB experience! The interior was the same as the other CBs I've been too - big with plenty of seating, a fire in the fire place, and all the paraphernalia on the walls. The atmosphere is always consistent with Cracker Barrels. I was a bit overwhelmed with the menus. Starting at 11, they give you both the breakfast menu, and the lunch/dinner menu, as well as all the other inserts you get about specials and what not. It's a lot to take in. We started off with some coffees (how could you not) as we decided which meal we were going to eat, and perused the menu. I have to say it, but the coffee just wasn't good yesterday. It seemed a bit watered down, and I politely declined our server when she asked about refills, which was a first. We both settled on the lunch options, and then decided we would go with one of the Fancy Fixin's options, which are served with 3 sides and your choice of biscuits or corn bread. All of that food + the beloved low prices = major steal!! I ordered the meatloaf with hashbrown casserole, mac and cheese, and turnip greens. My boyfriend had the chicken fried chicken with hashbrown casserole (one of those things you just can't share), baby carrots, and broccoli. We decided to get half corn bread, and half biscuits - the best of both worlds. Like always, the food came in a jiffy, and was served with a smile from our dear of a waitress! I was surprised at how good this was. And how much food there was! MEATLOAF // This meatloaf slice is cut THICK, and is made with flavorful onions, tomatoes, and green pepper. It falls apart easily, and has a sweet glaze over the top. A wonderful meatloaf if I do say so myself. CHICKEN FRIED CHICKEN // The deep-fried chicken breast is cooked perfectly, with a moist and juicy interior, and the perfect crispy outlayer, strong enough to hold up to the gravy. Delicious! HASHBROWN CASSEROLE // I'm so glad that this breakfast staple is also on the lunch and dinner menu. HBC is always incredible, and I was lucky enough to get an extra big serving for some reason. No complaints here! MAC AND CHEESE // Your typical restaurant mac and cheese, in a creamy sauce. But I think it's best enhanced with some salt and pepper for some extra flavor! TURNIP GREENS // This dish was lacking some flavor, compared to the rest of the sides. But it made me feel healthy :) BROCCOLI // The broccoli is served at the perfect point between crunchy and mushy, making it easy to bite without feeling like it's baby food. The sauce it's in gives it a little pizzaz! BABY CARROTS // These carrots were a bit on the sweet side! BISCUITS // The flaky, buttery biscuits were served perfect, as always. I'd love one big enough to lay my head on at night. CORNBREAD // I'm glad cornbread was an option, and wish it was at breakfast time too! This was a really great cornbread - super moist and rich. And then comes the best part. My boyfriend secretly told the waitress it was my birthday, and at the end of our meal, I had the best surprise! Three waitresses came out and announced my very special birthday, tried to have others join in on the celebration, and sang me a beautiful rendition of Happy Birthday from The Cracker Barrel! I felt so special on my birthday! Not to mention, the Fudge Cake with ice cream was insanely good. The slice of cake is huge and moist, and topped with the most luscious fudgy icing, and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. The perfect way to end the meal! Ok. Went to Cracker Barrel thinking this is going to be a good experience but I was way wrong! How do you mess up breakfast... They did. Let me tell you about my experience, here is what happened - 1. We got menus to order from and at a place who serves breakfast all day you would think they served anything else like (lunch/dinner) since they did give us menus so we could order lunch/dinner. However, my daughter was told she couldn't order lunch due to it wasn't 11:00am yet? It was 20 mins. til' 11:00am and why you serve breakfast all day and not lunch/dinner? The point is you could have taken my daughter order since it was just 20 mins. until you start cooking lunch/dinner items. So, breakfast it be... That was - No good #1 2. The food my party ordered the ham wasn't done. No good #2 3. Pancakes wasn't done. Seriously, who messes up pancakes. No good #3 4. The overall breakfast sucked!!! with 1/2 done items being served to the table. Wow... Don't waste your time at this Cracker Barrel its got to have a bad management problem here. The employees are a reflection of the management. Not so good here! I will never go back to this particular Cracker Barrel due to I have had good experiences at these establishments. That is why I say they have a management issue here. They need to take control before they building is empty on the side of the interstate like others that were mis-managed and ended up closed! Had the chicken dinner - crunchy perfectly fried chicken with sides of turnip greens and fried okra. No wait for service and the wait staff was super friendly and totally on it. Usually we come for breakfast and the service is outstanding and fast. Chicken and dumplings is delicious! We also got the farm raised catfish (grilled) and a ribeye steak. The grilled fish was very flavorful. Ribeye steak was my least favorite. The waitress end up forgetting our cornbread. But another waitress took care of that and brought some to us. I was on a limited timeline at lunch so the 30 minute turnaround on my call in order should have worked well. Instead, when I arrived for pick up, they had no record of my call in. So, 4 different people then take my order 4 separate times over the course of the next 25 minutes while I nervously wait. By the time the order comes out I'm already late to get back. Then, of course, when I get back and open the order, it's wrong. So I end up waiting twice as long for a takeout order and paid for food I didn't get. Low marks today, Cracker Barrel. read more
