My dad loves Cracker Barrel, and after a thorough comparison of all Lexingtkn locations, he only likes dining at this location due to friendlier staff and consistent food quality (he's an expert - he dines at Cracker Barrel every week!). We met for an early Thanksgiving meal today, and while service was a bit slow during the evening down time, our server was friendly and always had a smile on her face. We have lots of particular requests (hot vinegar, grilled sourdough bread, half and half drinks), and she was always on top of our requests - and again, always had a smile on her face. The food was hot and delicious! I had the country fried turkey, and honestly, I may have enjoyed it more than the traditional steak or chicken! The cranberry sauce went with the turkey and gravy so well - reminiscent of Austrian schnitzel which is usually served with lingonberry jam. By far one of the better holiday meals I've had, even in comparison to some pretty posh meals I've had around the world. Fried okra was the best I've had in a very long time as well! Thought I'd try Cracker Barrel on Nicholasville Rd again as I have not eaten there in almost 2 years due to the last few times I went the food was either cold or not cooked correctly and poor service. I decided to try it again the other day for breakfast. Ordered eggs over easy and they were cooked hard. Told my waitress that I ordered over my eggs over easy and she looked them and said I'll get you some new ones. They didn't bring my grits until I had almost finished my meal and they were cold and inedible. I was about to eat my last newly prepared egg and the cook left me his pubic hair in my eggs. (I assume he did like that he had remake the eggs)I was so disgusted that I went to the edge of the kitchen where my waitress was standing and showing her the plate with the Pubic Hair on it to "thank the cook for putting his pubic hair in my eggs!" I went to the lobby and could see her talking to the manager and he took me to the register and I said are you comping my meal and he had the audacity to tell me he was "taking half off you bill". The biscuits were hard and dry - not moist and fluffy like we had hoped. The gravy was pasty rather than creamy, and bland rather than savory. The hash browns were sticky and starchy rather than crispy and chewy. The eggs were properly cooked, but appeared to be Grade B medium instead of Grade AA Large eggs. I generally don't leave reviews but I was very disappointed in the food and service that I recently (12/31/25 around 2pm) experienced at CB in Lexington/Nicholasville. It wasn't during a very busy time of day. I ordered meat loaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, cornbread. To begin with the food was not hot, not even warm. The meatloaf was not completely cooked. I ate the outer part and left the middle. The potatoes were so thick i could cut them with my fork. The green beans were ok, just cold. Our waitress was not very attentive at all. We were in a hurry and knew that Cracker Barrel has a good variety of options for breakfast and are usually quick and always reasonably priced. This location did not disappoint. While we did have to wait a few extra minutes to be seated (staff is stretched to cover everywhere) once we were seated, our hostess became our server and took our drink orders and immediately returned for our food orders. Our granddaughter had "Eggs in a Basket" which was sourdough toast with an egg in the middle of the bread, not on it but IN it. It came with the hash browns casserole, bacon, one biscuit with gravy and grits. She finished both eggs so she really liked the Eggs in a Basket and it looked so good that my wife wants to order it the next time. Her friend picked the Wild Blueberry Pancakes which came with its own Blueberry Syrup. I had not seen flavored syrup before. My wife ordered the Biscuits n Gravy with Bacon. Of course I had to try one. Great gravy! I got Scrambled Eggs, Sausage Patties, the Hashbrown Casserole and Sour Dough Toast. Although I would prefer just plain hash browns, the casserole was okay. My eggs were great. Everyone enjoyed their food. We all left with full tummies for the long trip to Florida ahead. See her taking 4 tables orders first. At that point our food is cold, didn't see her. Manager was walking around, she got us refills, food and silverware. 12/26/20 I came here with my friend for breakfast before we went on our after holiday shopping spree. I ordered the sunrise sampler and coffee. Our waitress, Aureille took such great care of us. She made sure we always had full coffee cups, and checked on us a lot. Just absolutely great service all around. We always enjoy going to Cracker Barrel for a feel-good meal and today was no different. They weren't as busy as they typically were but I presume that had something to do with the Easter holiday. I did the build-your-own breakfast and everything came out pretty well. I ordered ham, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, and grits. The only issue that I had was the grits were very watery. We got the Thanksgiving meal from Cracker Barrel this year. It is a "heat and serve" meal, but there was also some mixing things up and preparation to be done. When I arrived to pick it up I had some difficulty finding the pick up area and had to call into the store to get directions. A couple well-placed signs would have been a big help. Overall, my family really enjoyed the turkey (very good!), mashed potatoes, and yeast rolls. The stuffing was too dry and barely touched, the gravy was also not great, probably partly my fault because I was tired of cooking by that point and opted to use the microwave instead of the stove to heat it up. Next time I would pick up a jar at the grocery. Still glad I got a little help from Cracker Barrel for our holiday. read more

I was in the mood for some comfort food and tried Cracker Barrel's meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Sorry to say this but as I give honest reviews - there is nothing I can say good about the meal. Nothing. It was the worst excuse for both meatloaf and mashed potatoes I have ever had the occasion to try. This is sad and surprising as Cracker Barrel is known for family meals. On a positive note, my sides were good- as I expected. Unfortunately, the bucket of chicken I received was burnt. I mean this chicken tasted like it had been sitting in grease at the bottom of the barrel or it was old and then refried. It tasted awful. I also got 4 chicken tenders for $9.99 and y'all, the size of the chicken tenders were shameful when you pay that kind of price for them. Great allergen friendly meal! First, Jami was an amazing server. She and another employee (who gave me a GF menu) were very helpful in walking me through allergens and ingredients on the menu. Jami was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. My son ordered breakfast and was very happy with his meal. I ordered Cajun grilled catfish, baked sweet potato, and a side salad--all tasted excellent and were free of gluten, dairy, soy, pork, and other allergies. We arrived early so it wasn't crowded. There were 2 people in our party. We were seated quickly and then the waiting game began. We waited a good 10 minutes before anyone even came by our table. The corn muffins were so hard you couldn't chew them. The chicken looked like a back piece and the hash brown casserole was cold and full of undercooked onions and cheese. Afterward, we had to track down our server to get a to go box and bill. Waited another 10 minutes to go to a cashier with another bad attitude. Look I realize people take jobs that they hate but if you hate it as much as was obvious between those 2 find something else or CB take better care of your employees so they can make your patrons enjoy spending our hard earned money and have to have such horrible experience. Absolutely the worst customer service from a manager, Ms. Kelly Stevens, and pathetic food that I've ever had. We ordered online, through the Nicholasville, KY Cracker Barrel website, as directed. Upon completion of our order, the Cracker Barrel website stated our food would be delivered by a food delivery service (farmed our to DoorDash). Our DoorDash driver was kind enough to alert us that one of the two entrees we ordered was unavailable and he further negotiated w the Cracker Barrel staff to obtain a replacement entree. When our order arrived, it was ice cold and half of it was missing. I contacted the manager at Cracker Barrel, Ms. Kelly Stevens, to address the missing food. I was very rudely informed that no refund would issued and if I wanted to drive to the restaurant for "another order" I could or she could, "drive the food over there [myself] tonight when I get off at 11:00PM if I wanted to wait that long. Or I could talk to her manager Ryan ??? tomorrow morning, but there would be no refund." I was then put on hold and she did not return. Another Cracker Barrel employee came on the phone and stated that she would send an email to "corporate" to issue a refund. The blatant hostility and crass demeanor of the manager, Ms. Kelly Stevens, was completely unprofessional and unwarranted. I have heard over the past few years Cracker Barrel was overall declining, and sadly, based on this experience, I certainly agree. On Thanksgiving we ordered to-go from the menu the staff gave us. We were told it would be an hour, and they took our payment ahead of time. 1 hour and 20 minutes later we asked where our order was. The manager told us that they can only do Thanksgiving meals, and could not fulfill our order. We are done! We visited there again last nite, the service was not acceptable. We waited way too long for service then we thought she had forgotten our order or drinks. Drink refills were none. The servers were almost nonexistent, people were looking around and at each other wondering where the service was. I can see why they do not have the business they once had. Then they charged us wrong for one of the meals. I tried to explain to the cashier when I paid and she was clueless. I finally said that's ok forget it.
