Asked if we could sub chicken noodle soup in place of it. They said yes, but for an up charge. I had to explain how we were inconvenienced and shouldn't have to pay an up charge. I really value Cracker Barrel for their generosity in welcoming RVers to stay overnight in their parking lots. While it's generally understood that grabbing a meal is a courteous way to say thanks, that just wasn't in the cards tonight. Worst experience I have ever had Service she was completely overwhelmed she probably was new and that's ok but then ask for help. She completely forgot my son sweet tea then she forgot to comeback and tell me they are out of the featured skillet then no refills on my coffee never saw her again until the end of our visit what a shame. Also the New York strip steak was overcooked on one half other half was rare not medium and poor quality definitely not $21 worth Never asked if everything is ok or anything Still gave her 15% tip in case she was new. Cracker Barrel is always such a cozy spot with that warm old country feeling I love. I enjoy browsing the gift shop before or after eating - there's always something cute or unique to find. Their breakfast menu is delicious, but my all-time favorite has to be the chicken and dumplings. Comfort food at its best! Always a great experience. It has been many years since we've eaten at Cracker Barrel. Someone gave us a gift card, so we decided to go last night. Hubs decided to have breakfast for dinner, and I decided to order stuff I never make at home, including chicken & dumplings and fried okra. Hubs said he would give his food a C+. I would give mine a C+ overall as well. The chicken & dumplings weren't bad, but they weren't the best I've had. A bit bland. There was a decent amount of chicken, which was good. The breading on the okra tasted ok, but could & should have been a bit crispier. It was a little soggy. The green beans were inedible - the fake smoke flavoring was disgusting! Would never order green beans again at CB! The biscuits were good, but the cornbread was meh. Our server was sweet but kept forgetting things. We go early because if you wait...they're out of what you want. Yesterday we went for their country fried chicken. It's supposed to be hand dipped and fried but we were told they didn't have any because the machine they use to make the chicken broke, a month ago. It sounds like they are going the way of the McDonalds ice cream machine. I ordered a hot tea because it was very cold in the restaurant. I couldn't drink it because the water smelled like a dirty, wet dog. I mentioned it to the server who agreed, the water was smelling nasty. The food tasted okay. There wasn't much there though. Their serving portions have gotten small. For the price we paid, it wasn't worth the cost. Speaking of cost...we asked for some apple butter for our biscuits. The charge for it. It cost 50 cents for a tiny cup, about an ounce. So we paid a dollar for almost enough apple butter for a biscuit. You can tell that Cracker Barrel is going down. They closed half of the restaurant. They have reduced their servings and charging for things that used to be included in the meals. I've seen their new commercials. They want to build back their business but they're going about it wrong. It's not worth going. There are better choices in the area. read more

While many of us prefer fine dining, in my opinion Cracker Barrel consistently delivers exactly what they advertise, great Country Cookin! Yes, for some meatloaf or fried chicken is not what they crave. However, for many of us, Cracker Barrel feels comforting, warm, with great tasting Country Cookin, and reminds many of us eating a meal with our Families when we were younger. I feel their trout dinner with kale, and broccoli is one of the most underrated meal in any chain restaurant, anywhere, because it is delicious, healthy (stay away from the butter and the salt, and order it that way), and is the best value hands down! There servers accross the board are personable, interested in engaging their customers with a down home attitude, are very respectful, and rarely make a mistake on and order. I realize that the menu is not extensive but never once have we received our order wrong which is extremely rare in my experience with chain restaurants. Ok, so ambiance is a facade of a Country Restaurant but who cares, the food is great Country Cookin, and the people are great. At least Cracker Barrel Corporation is trying. Road trip stop, or Sunday breakfast, or any day lunch, or diner you will enjoy your meal, your dining experience, and it will break you bank. I am recommending you give it a try, as I feel it make you feel better. read more

My family has lived here for over 10 years. Never once have they gotten an order correct for us to go. Not once. They give excuses like "understaffed" or "we're really busy." That would be okay for once or twice, but for this long- it's time to call them out and post a review. This is consistent terrible management. Let's be very clear. It is not hard to check an order to ensure everything is in the bag. Something is sincerely wrong if 100% of the time, your orders are wrong. Don't bother. Smelled weird (cleaning products?) in restaurant area. Asked for window seating and was told it was closed. Shortly after people were sat there. Inquired and was then told it needed to be cleaned. Ordered dinner special (steak tips). Was tiny amount and was overcharged. Menu said 8.50. Mgr said we read the menu wrong. Upon entering the garage sale known as crackle barrel I was met by Joan THE hostess. She asked the number of people in my party and I said 2 adults and 2 children. JOAN then proceeded to question my 14 year olds status as a child because of her height, " I would think that she is the adult," said JOAN. After waiting for 35 minutes when they told us the table would be a 20 minute wait we finally sat down. My youngest who appears to be a kid and IS 10 YEARS OLD got a full adult menu. They didn't ask if we wanted a kids menu either. We placed our orders for our drinks and didn't get them for 20 MINUTES. However, the people who sat down beside us nearly 10 minutes after us got their drinks within 5 minutes of siting down. We had the same waiter as well. We then ordered the cinnamon rolls as an appetizer. We waited over an hour for our appetizer and entree. When we got the cinnamon rolls our entres came out not even 1 minute later. We order it as an APPETIZER not an ENTRE. The cinnamon rolls were also hard and extremely cold and were bland. They tasted like they had been sitting on the streets and were dragged to our table by a rat. We then got our entres 1 minute later after receiving our "appetizers". My oldest got the kids little sliders and they were ARTIC and bland once again. She also got about 8 fries??? (Those were also extremely cold). My middle got a cheese burger and fries. She wanted the bigger meal just to get more fries rather then the kids meal. However she got the exact same amount of fries as the kids meal. She also asked for it to be well done and the burger was medium - medium well done. Once again her food had little to no seasoning and was cold like everything else. She also wanted ketchup and had to wait 20 minutes to get the ketchup and by that point her food was almost gone. Lastly, I ordered the old timers breakfast. The eggs, sausage, hash-browns, and biscuits and gravy. EVERYTHING WAS COLD. EVERY meal but my youngest was extremely cold. But for some reason the drinks were luke warm. Which makes me believe everything was sitting while she was serving the table next to us even though we sat down 10 minutes before them. They even got the entrees around 10 minutes before we did and they had the same number of people as us. I'm extremely disappointed in the staff, the food, and the overall customer service me and my kids have received today. We wanted a nice brunch while we were heading on our way to vacation. 2 hours of experience that will be trauma for life. Severely disappointed in this whole establishment. I have been to many Cracker Barrels across the US and have always enjoyed them but my experience at the Cracker Barrel in Okatie, SC was beyond lackluster. I didn't have a problem with waiting to be seated and the food was good. But the service was terrible. The young lady that was my waitress acted like a single person at the table wasn't worth her time. She failed to provide me with silverware, condiments, coffee refills and half of my food. I waited about 20 mins for my food to come out only to get my eggs and sirloin tips. I had to ask another waitress for silverware and condiments. Once my waitress finally came back I had to ask for my hash browns and biscuits and gravy. 10 minutes for my hash browns only th wait another 15 to have my biscuits and gravy to come out in a bag. I didn't even say I wanted it to go. After an hour total at the table I was sent out with food in hand. I would have liked to had my food in the restaurant but it was cleared that single person at a two person table was a burden. I has polite when asking and said thank you after everything. I don't know if it was the mindset that since I was one person at the table, no money would have been made off of me or due to social division in the world today. I do know that it was clear that I was perceived as a burden at the Cracker Barrel in Okatie, SC. My family and I will not becoming back in the future. read more

Three Strikes and you are out! I have given this location three different opportunities to serve what is promised in the menu - each time they failed to offer the dishes that you should expect. The first try was the Steak Dinner. Steak was thin, overcooked and grisly. Second was the Thursday Special - Roast Turkey, with stuffing, gravy and sides. Waited 45 minutes before the waitress told me it would be another 49 minutes before the cornbread stuffing would be ready! She did offer to bring me biscuits or cornbread while I waited. They never brought out anything but two pieces of turkey and the steamed broccoli that I had ordered. The third trip - I was looking forward to the Friday Fish Dinners that are offered and I would have been better off with a McDonald's Fish Sandwich than the Catfish Dinner that was served. No wonder that people are leaving this chain in the rear view mirror! Don't waste your money! read more

Logo has changed. Hate it. The entry way of the store has been closed in with wood and was very plain and dark. Old wooden rocking chairs are gone and have been replaced with uncomfortable plastic ones. Did not have peg games on tables anymore which we always look forward to playing. No cornbread offered today just biscuits. Food has gone way dow. Very disappointe. Sorry to say we will probably stop eating at Cracker Barrel since it is changing. read more

I had the fried chicken for supper last night and believe it is the best fried chicken I have ever had and I am retired. I eat at this Cracker Barrel often and I love the food. It is cheaper than many other restaurants . There are great restaurants in the area but they can be pricy. I love the cornbread and fried apples and they have generally great service. Started going for breakfast which is great. My breakfast is 9.79 and includes two eggs, grits , sausage, and biscuits and gravy. I do the rewards program and actually got the fried chicken dinner free last night. Sign up for the rewards program before you go. They will give you something when you start the program. The cashiers are very nice to me and seem happy they are there. I just like this place. I have been going to Cracker Barrel restaurants since college. Say Go Vols!! read more

Hostess took a very long time to seat us. She was having a conversation with a young man in the empty sided dining room. Our waitress was nice and food came out fast and hot. Turnip greens had absolutely no flavor to them very bland. The I went to restroom and the toilets are so low I mean daycare low to the ground and the do not have any grab rails to assist anyone.
