It's Cracker Barrel so no big surprises with the decor or ambiance. We go because we want a quick bite with familiar comfort food. Service was ok. Cracker Barrel seems to be bouncing back after a long decline. Particularly, this location, which is nice to report. I ate at this location last year and it was a travesty from service to food. This time however, I can confidently say this location has really gotten it together all the way around. Servers and staff were friendly, happy, and so, SO attentive. The food came out quickly, it was hot, fresh and delicious!!! This is the first time in so long that I can genuinely say Cracker Barrel rocks and so does its team. For a place that prides themselves on home cookin in a setting that is reminiscent of a simpler time serving cold food in to go containers is one thing but to bring out burnt biscuits that could break glass is dropping the ball altogether, what happened? I used to love this place and have been coming for years but this location has steadily gotten worse. The service even when not busy is horrible (like a sloth at the dmv) there's no excuse for cold food served in to go containers. And hockey pucks for biscuits are never a good idea no matter how ya butter it. Then you have the cooks/servers that don't know the menu and what goes with each meal. read more

My family and I went here very excited to have a nice Cracker Barrel meal. Everything turned out fine until I saw a HAIR INSIDE OF MY EGGS. I immediately sent them back and NEVER received my order of eggs. Then we split up the check, and they completely bombed on that. We ended up paying for everyone else's meals and they somehow didn't put any of the alcohol we ordered on ANY receipt. We ended up spending a good thirty minutes in the gift shop and had to call back members of my family just to pay for the rest of their check. This caused us so much trouble and inconvenience. Though it may not make a huge difference for Cracker Barrel in Sanford, it will be my biggest pleasure to NEVER return to this location. My family and I went to Cracker Barrel in hopes of a great meal, but the experience was horrible! Our food took over an hour to show up, and it was freezing cold! One of my family members ordered a slice of turkey, but it had ketchup on the plate, meaning someone had took maybe a meatloaf off and replaced it! We saw families of 6-8 getting sent to their table and being served earlier with MORE COMPLEX DISHES! I'm sorry to write this as I always loved Cracker Barrel. But yesterday and today were horrible days. So me and my husband go and I get the fried catfish. My favorite. And my husband gets the breakfast. I ask for cornbread and get biscuits instead. I ask about the reward system I joined. I was told we get a free order of barrel bites and as I had close to 200 points I ordered a $5 dinner to go for our son. Which was supposed to be free due to my points. We go to pay and are told we did not qualify for the barrel bites. After telling the guy several times we were told different by our waiter he still refused to help us get it straight. Told him several times I wanted to use 75 points for the to go meal. Left and looked at the ticket to see we got charged full price! So upset about the way we were treated. And went home. Started feeling bad soon after getting home and ended up throwing up 3 times. My husband was feeling bad but not like I was. But the next day my husband ended up sick the whole day. And laid up in bed or in the bathroom. Our son too started feeling bad. As he ate the to go meal we brought him. So pretty weird we all 3 got different things but all 3 got sick. Hmmm? Needless to say and $60 later we are trying to recover from our last trek to what used to be one of our favorite restaurants. But we should have known better when we entered and it was all kids working. But we had even ordered our Thanksgiving dinner through them. The waitress kept checking on us telling us it won't be long. We were told how busy they were but the restaurant was not even using one section. The country fried steak was over cooked, dark in color and dry. When a different person brought our meals to the table she dumped some of the okra on the table, no remorse shown. Serving size for one fried okra was twice as much as another. One order only had about 10 pcs. So very disappointed and will not be back. Well Have not been here in a while and was amazed and impressed with the higher level of service from the wait staff. Attentive and accurate with the order. Food cam out hot and as I would like to have it prepared. I got the meatloaf with a red glaze. It was so delicious and like grandma use to make. The green beans were perfectly seasoned and was an excellent compliment to the meat loaf. Also added a side salad which was quite filling and fresh. Had to pass on desert as I was stuffed. Today we decided to go here for the first time ever for breakfast. We were starving since we just drove from 35 mins away or so. The parking lot was already pretty crowded when we arrived so we kind of had an idea it may be packed inside. Didn't realize we had to walk through the small crowded gift shop just to get to the restaurant. When we got to the stand the ladies told us it would be a 25 min wait. So we decided to go wait in our car because it was packed and we had 2 kids that wanted to grab everything in there. Flash forward to 25 minutes later we come back cause we got a text that our table was ready. They literally seated us right next to the front podium. Like literally... RIGHT THERE where everyone and their mother is trying to get a table with the front waitresses and the gift shop is centimeters away. Out of the whole restaurant that's where they put us.. Just felt like we were in the middle of everything going on and everyone was staring at us cause of where they put us. And it just smelled weird and just felt dirty in there. Our table was oily and sticky. And there was 0 air flow in there. The floor was clearly disgusting and not swept or anything. I literally watched an employee "clean a table" and they didn't even wipe it with anything but dust it off with a dry dirty looking rag. It made me loose my appetite to be honest. We also overheard a customer that came up to the front (right next to us and the employees were making us feel claustrophobic since they were all right next to us) and she was requesting a manager and one lady told her they don't ever have a manager on duty there. What kind of business doesn't have a manager on site during business hours? Unprofessional. Our waiter was the only nice thing about that place. We weren't impressed with the food it was just mediocre personally and kind of just slapped together and dry. The biscuits were good though. Probably won't be returning ever. read more

This was the worst experience I've had at a Cracker Barrel. I'm usually ok with people messing up, we're all human and make mistakes. However this went beyond that to the point of almost seeming careless. We ordered, the food came out and half was missing. 6 of us ordered something and 4 of us were missing multiple items. My daughters food didn't even come out wit what was in the menu. My wife was missing hash browns and I was missing sausage and I'm pretty sure the extra egg I ordered. I was hungry so at that point I was ready to eat. I know, it's Cracker Barrel and I shouldn't expect a lot but good Lord. Now, with all of that they finally brought it out right 20 mins later. I was done eating before my kids and wife received the rest of the food. You'd think they would have offered to come something? Or at least offer a gift card or something acknowledging the multiple mistakes. Nope, they brought the full bill. WHAT?!?!? Come on CB do better. The service was great but we waited a long time for our food and they forgot to tell us they didn't have chicken livers so I got my food and my husband his sides. Nothing like going to a restaurant ordering your food and not being able to eat it because the people in the kitchen can't seem to keep up with what's going on. We ordered our food and everything finally comes out but the gravy. I asked our waitress for it and she goes to the kitchen to get it but for whatever reason the kitchen ran out of it and just started making a fresh batch. About 30 or so minutes later the gravy is ready and everyone is ready to go so I packed up my food and we left. The waitress however did a really good job at making sure we had everything we needed but unfortunately had no control over the mistakes of the kitchen. They could've let her know when she placed the orders that there was no gravy for the dish but instead continued to make the food and pretty much ruined my meal. They definitely need to make someone from the kitchen come out and apologize for things like this instead of having the waitress do their dirty work. read more

I understand that at the moment, everyone is experiencing staffing shortages, but the inexperienced wait staff, the long waits even when the place is mostly empty and finally the wrong order, missing order and mediocre food served at cool temperatures just makes it an overall bad experience. It's Cracker Barrel, you know what type of food you're getting. Every location I've been to the food is consistent. The only difference is the service, obviously. This location is hit or miss. If you're sat near the store up front, you're good to go. Service will be great and you will want to come back. If you're sat near the far end of the restaurant away from the store, expect a 10min wait for a waiter or waitress to speak to you and 15min for food. I have been here over ten times and I always ask for the section closer to the store. Even if I have to wait. read more

This is a "during COVID" review where people are allowed to come in, although I did To Go. The problem with this new format is there is no place on the order page to ask for condiments, and their haddock is perfect with their tartar sauce. I have ordered this dish three times (within 3 months of COVID rules) and have the SAME problem. I call after I place the order and request the sauce. I explain in detail that the tartar sauce is the main reason I order this dish because it goes so well together. THREE TIMES out of 3, they have failed to supply me with the sauce. The first time I got home because I trusted they would get it right, but there was NO sauce. The second time, I asked when I received the meal and had to wait while they ran back inside (curbside delivery), and yesterday, we had to ask once again while the cashier said it was in there. We opened it up at the check out, didn't see it, so the cashier said it would take TEN MINUTES for them to get it. Yes, I will wait because I have specifically requested this. It didn't take 10 minutes, more like two, but the fish was definitely cold when we got it home. TO GO at Cracker Barrel just isn't worth it.
