What's happening with the corn bread muffins? I've ordered twice since the campfire meals came back and both times the corn bread muffins are burned and flat. On the initial order we should have had 4 but only got 2. They substituted biscuits. Since the 2 muffins were inedible we truly had zero! The first meal was the shrimp campfire meal. The shrimp was too soft for me but I understand how it happened being sealed up and perhaps waiting for delivery. Anyway, the second time around I got the beef campfire meal. Just forgetting it is fine, but when I brought it up he seemed confused as if we didn't even order those items. We took our grandkids and family for a birthday celebration at Cracker Barrel last night. It had been a while since we had been - not since they went woke. Cracker Barrel is a staple for many but not my go to. It's just happened to be right out in front of the hotel. We stayed at so gave it a shot. The greeter was extremely friendly and we were able to get seated right away. This particular restaurant was one of the first 40 that were built in the US. The layout is completely backwards for any other Cracker Barrel. I have been in. Food was pretty good came out quick and hot. It's not a diner, but they did a pretty good job today. read more

Most chain restaurants are pretty much what you expect of them: Some days are good. Some days are bad. This morning was just aggravating. They seated me at a table where the air was venting into the room, and when I complained about being cold the waitress just kept moving me to different places in the same area. Then, when I finally ordered what I thought was a simple order, the food came out cold. And by "cold" I don't mean it wasn't hot. I mean, the two pancakes I ordered could barely melt the butter I put on them, and the two eggs over easy I ordered were just as cold. You may not like a runny egg, but a runny egg that's cold is even worse. When I complained about it, the waitress offered to bring fresh food. I usually don't do that because I assume the worst about what they'll do to my order, but I was in a rush and I needed to eat something before I went to work. Stopped here to get some breakfast. I noticed the prices have gone up since going to the past Cracker Barrel. They have a create your own breakfast I decided to get. You get eggs, a meat and side. I decided on sausage. I wish they said it was a smoked sausage. I was not crazy about the flavor and only ate one. I also asked for tomatoes for my side. They were not good. Definitely not a homegrown tomatoes but like a hot house one and they were hard. When I ordered them I thought for sure they would have been good or at least a bit bigger. They gave 3 small slices. My scrambled eggs came out a little too mushy for me too. The waitress was very good on top of everything before having to ask for anything. I am just very disappointed. I probably wouldn't order breakfast there again. Usually they are very consistent but this stop I didn't feel the same way. I do love the gift shop. Always something new to look at. We haven't been to Cracker Barrel in a while. The portions had gotten ridiculously small, they were stingy with the biscuits and the wait staff was horrible. We went tonight because we received a gift card for Christmas. We were pleasantly surprised! Portions were huge, prices were reasonable, everyone was friendly. Will definitely return. We just recently ordered the Thanksgiving dinner from this location. We usually cook all of the food we eat for Thanksgiving. We did receive all of the food we ordered. I am going to have to say I was disappointed with the dressing that came with the other food. It was more like crumbs that you would feed to the birds. All the other food was really good. Just sat down for breakfast. The hostess literally ignored us from the beginning we said good Morning. One girl had her back to us leaning on the podium and the other "Aris" Said nothing. We asked if it was right to ignore guests and she continued chatting with the girl with her back to us. We called the manager who came over and listened to our concerns. The manager stated she shouldn't be at this station any way and she quickly told the other girls to get off the podium and leave. These two girls (one of which had a 4 star PAR rating) are not trained in guest relations and reflects poorly on the Cracker Barrel brand. On a positive note, our server was on point with a great personality, greeting, and service was great! Setting the tone in any environment starts with a first impression, in this case it is the hostess station. Aris failed at her job and refused to be remorseful or apologetic. This behavior most likely goes beyond just the worker. I hope that whoever in management reads this takes us to heart and understands that one or two bad apples in an organization can rot the bunch and will take action to retrain. read more

Quite possibly the most inattentive, cold, and blatantly rude staff team I've ever encountered for breakfast. Keep in mind this is from my first time dining at any Cracker Barrel, something I had been anxious to try since moving to the south about a year ago. From the very moment I walked in, I wondered whether I was at the right place or not, because I walked into a store. A tall, young, bigger boned gentleman (sounding anything but gentle or polite) loudly and quite discourteously asked how many were in my party. That's right, not so much as a greeting. I was still under the impression I must've gone through the wrong entrance or something, because the restaurant is quite hidden from view of the store except for the occasional servers that walk up to front where this young man was working. I asked if I was in the right place, and informed him I was looking for a restaurant (also asking if they are a store combined with a restaurant just to confirm), to which he even more loudly replied: "YES, we are a restaurant, how many are in your party?" I was sorry I asked. I was told there would be about a 15 minute wait which I was totally fine with since I had arrived about 15 minutes earlier than the time I had planned to meet my friend for brunch). I told him it was not a problem and that I would just explore the store since I had never been. When I got called, the young hostess did not even make eye contact, and when I started approaching her from across the store, she monotonously mumbled something like "this way." No smile, no other questions, not even the pre-server introduction they give about how another server would be right with me. I asked a gal behind the store cash register to hold a couple items I picked up as a gift for another one of my friends, (including a birthday card for her birthday party that would be later that weekend). They said they would hold it without a problem. Our server was polite enough, but incredibly inattentive. There was no silverware on the table, nor did she come with it when our entrees came out. She asked if we needed anything else once she set the food down, and we told her it would be lovely to have some utensils to eat with (along with a side that my friend had ordered which she seemed to have forgotten to bring out). We waited for about 5 minutes before she came back, and by then of course, our food had gotten a lot colder. While dining, my friend and I were sitting without any water or coffee refill until we were done eating, regardless of the fact we had asked for it (apparently another thing she had forgotten about after a couple minutes). When I got up to pick up the check and retrieve my items when we were planning to leave, I found they had only 1/3 of the items I left with them up front, not including the card I had found. The sweet older lady running the register at the time apologized and said she had no idea what happened with them but I could go grab the items I was missing and bring them back up front again. I rushed to find and picked up the 2 items I was missing plus the card, but by the time I got back to the front where the register was, she was already helping someone else and there was 3 other customers ahead of me in a line. I stood there and was forced to wait in the line until my turn (another 5 minutes or so). I don't know how the store coordinates with the restaurant or vice versa, but I do know the customer service and satisfaction aspect of their business is close to non existent. How sad, since the food was fabulous, and the restaurant was so eye-catching and unique once inside. I guess I had higher hopes for the sweet southern hospitality I had heard so much about. read more

Very very disappointed in this Cracker Barrel! First I have been eating at Cracker Barrels since the 70's when my step-father managed one in NC off I-95, so this isn't just an occasional complaint! The dining room is very unkempt, there is food on everything. The menu, the table items, and even the back of my wife's chair when she pulled it out to sit down. We ordered the French Dip w/ auju, and the Fried Chicken BLT Sandwich. The French Dip was terrible. The Meat was dried out, and the auju was cold. We sent that back, and ordered a Country Style Steak meal... Again The Meat was overcooked, and just terrible. The manager was called to the table and recognized The issue, and had both meals removed from the bill, and that was appreciated by us. My wife still hasn't had a full dinner though, and won't have one here again ever! The chicken sandwich on the other hand was good, and not disappointing. The food was amazingly delicious and very affordable. My whole meal was $11, plus a drink that was about $3. I got a meal that consisted of two chicken breasts topped with bacon and I got to pick 2 sides; I chose the mashed potatoes and fried apples, there were also biscuits that came with the meal. I forgot to take a picture of them. But everything was perfect. The chicken was cooked just right, also it had bacon on top so that was an added bonus. After you served our drinks, you never refilled until we asked at the end of our meal. 2. You brought our meal and you never suggested or thought to bring condiments. (I had fried shrimp and French fries) 3. You never came back to our table to check on us. (I had to call you over twice) 4. After sending the cold biscuits back, you brought hot biscuits out with no butter and again no suggestions of honey or jam. 5. I always order the roast beef because it's always tender and very flavorful. Sadly it t was very tough and they didn't even give me a knife which usually isn't necessar. Save your money! McDonald's would have been better. My husband and I went for breakfast on a Saturday. His French toast was delicious but my food was a train wreck. I ordered the gravy special. The waitress brought it out and I asked for biscuits that weren't burned. She laughed and said all the biscuits were like that. The biscuits were nothing compared to the sausage. I was slicing it up to put in my gravy and I noticed it looked dry. I decided to taste it. I would imagine that it tasted just like the sausage treat I gave my dog that morning.
