Waited over an hour for our food just for them to have "lost" our ticket. The kitchen was closing by the time our waitress even noticed. I was no longer hungry when we even got our food and nobody in my party was either. We then were told the best they could do for us was a small percentage off of our bill. Ridiculous. My colleagues and I stopped on our way home. We were curious to see if all the changes made a difference in the food quality. I have to say the chicken fried chicken was delicious. So I've been to Cracker Barrel often and today I tried the new item, bee sting chicken bites. The sauce was a combo of spicy and sweet but the spicy was not over powering so even my wife who doesn't do "spicy" was able to enjoy. My waitress/server (Rebecca) was perfect. My coffee cup was only empty once, at the end of the meal, and I got a to go cup so I guess it was never empty. My inspection of the bathroom visit showed clean facilities too. read more

The menu selection is wide. The portion is generous and the price is very reasonable. Service is extremely slow, though our server was very friendly. I believe the kitchen does not have enough cooks, considering this is busy around lunch times. What do we recommend for breakfast? The buttermilk pancakes with fruit toppings are wonderful. We love both the cinnamon apples and the peach toppings. The eggs, bacon and sausage are standard. The homestyle ham is very salty. The biscuits and gravy are not good. We stopped at this Cracker Barrel while we were traveling at dinner time. The restaurant and washrooms is very clean and the staff is very friendly and was very efficient. Our waitress's name is Lilly and she's very efficient and pleasant. My husband and I had the classic sampler and chicken and dumplings. All of the food was hot and delicious! Our biscuits were hot and fresh as well. Our drinks were refreshed as needed. I would absolutely look forward to visiting this Cracker Barrel again, possibly on the way home. Absolutely No ! Do not waste your time or $$$. I have given this place so many chances of providing a clean place and good food.. they fail 99% of the time. People are rude, food is just not good for a Cracker Barrel . We are a military family we travel a lot. We always stop at CB in the last 20 years. Well we are done with this one. The last visit our table needed to be wiped off not really a big deal. Until we get this Sarah chick. She treated me as if I made up " this table is dirty '" ! She came back with these dry paper towels... which did absolutely nothing . Looked like some child had pancake syrup party at the table. Her look to me was horrible. We got up and left. Before the dirty table experience, husband picked up an item in their store area... it was so gross and sticky. They just refuse to clean. The smell when u eater is like old, musky, mole smell. The health department needs to step in here. It seems this CB may have purchased the Health Department.... No way they could pass a real inspection. CB is falling quicker than they realized. Absolutely horrible!!! Placed an order and we were told it would be done at 7:17. My husband went to the store to pick order up and arrived at 7:15. 7:47 and he's STILL standing there waiting on our order. I called the store and am told the order is out there. So it was sitting there getting cold. I informed them that at this point we probably just needed money back because I would just have to recook it whenever he came home. I was told "they would make it right." Husband FINALLY received order. As expected, cold. Half of it was missing. Missed out salads, cheese curds, and my child's chicken. When informed we finally received the chicken and cheese curds. HARDLY given any cheese curds and they were STILL charging us full price. Not fine with me so had to once again throw a fit. Finally we were told to keep the food and they would return the money to our card within 24 hours, we'll see if that actually happens. Husband returns home. Still missing salads, food is freezing, fried pickles are so burned that just crumbled, hardly any cheese curds given, and my grilled chicken strips were never marinated in anything as they usually are and tasted disgusting, I couldn't even eat it. Didn't get what was ordered, waitress said that they may not be able to do what the menu allowed (add a premium meat) so she just brought me something else. No drink refills and waitress acted as though she was too busy to wait tables (dumped food and didn't check if we had silverware or needed any condiments). Eating at Cracker Barrel probably the worst meal I have ever gotten here. The chicken is overcooked on the outside and not cook completely on the inside. The steak fries have been sitting in the back for quite some time and were just put back in the grease for a minute to warm them up they are not soft and golden brown like normally they are. Very disappointed in this meal. MY sister had to send her mail back because of the undercooked chicken and changed her order to meatloaf. No offer of a discount for the crappy food. Well, just not a lot of places to have breakfast in town. Our group consisted of 4 large adults and a toddler. We were seated in a table for 4 that was somewhat on the small size. The table size influenced what we ordered. We opted not to get items as just not enough room. I noticed there really were not a lot of options. The menus were filthy. The table was sticky. The floor at 9 AM was dirty. My over medium eggs came out over hard. The pancakes were cold but at least the small individual serving glass bottled syrup were hot. The others in my party complained of similar issues with their orders. At least the food came out quickly! Service was prompt, but absolutely not very friendly or accommodating. I don't write reviews often but I do think this is warranted. Boyfriend and I are on a road trip and stopped here on our way out of town. Service was extremely fast and our waitress Bri was an absolute sweetheart. You can tell she really loves her job. The food industry is brutal, so, being so cheerful and kind without feeling disingenuous is rare. I got the fresh berry French toast bake, a side of mac and cheese, and a side of hashbrown casserole. Boyfriend got Chicken and dumplings with broccoli. some of the best Cracker Barrel food we've had in AWHILE. Idk if they make it different here but everything was delicious, and all nice and hot. We came here last night for dinner around 7:30 (as a party of 4 - 2 couples), we were greeted by a really kind, nice hostess. Our waitresses name was Danielle, she was extremely short with us, grouchy and just overall rude. I've never had an experience at Cracker Barrel like that before. I would have brushed it off had she been rude to the other tables she was waiting on, but she wasn't. We continued to be nothing but polite to her, and she apparently couldn't manage to treat us kindly. This is one of those reviews where some things are good, some things are bad and some things have you shaking your head. Overall it boils down to a solid three stars. Let's start with location. Cracker Barrel in Sullivan Missouri is located at exit 226 of Hwy 44. Covid protocol: They do not require masks from customers or staff, they do not require social distancing in the store part, but try to seat people further apart than usual. Staff will clean tables between diners. Unfortunately we've seen them use the same rag for multiple tables. Chairs were not cleaned. Bathrooms: Bathrooms are offered for male/female only. I'm at the point where I won't even wash my hands in the bathroom anymore because they are so dirty/dingy looking and don't even offer hand sanitizer. Cracker Barrel is a chain of restaurants that combine a country store with a sit down restaurant. Their emphasis is on southern style "homecooked" foods and "unique" gifts. They are family friendly. They do not take reservations. The restaurant is fairly large and waiting times are typically short. The store part presents as a rustic old country store offering merchandise such as candles, jewelry, toys, tableware, some clothing and lots of edible goodies. A full list of their offerings can be found on the cracker barrel website. With the exception of the edible things a lot of their merchandise is made in China. A hostess will take your name and the number of people in your party and will give you an approximate wait time (if any). Hostesses double as wait staff so sometimes you have to wait for the hostess. The restaurant used to give out buzzer type pagers if wait times are long, but I'm not sure if they still do. The regular menu is extensive and a separate menu for seasonal specials adds to the list. There are some alcoholic drinks (not at all locations) All food is geared towards stereotypical southern, family style cooking. Selections range from the Sunday Pot Roast Supper (which is more like a beef stew) with homemade biscuits to Friday fish fry (4 pieces of hand battered, fried Cod ) with your choice of sides. They do offer a soup of the day but waitstaff often has to go and ask what the soup is, so it doesn't seem to be an item that gets ordered a lot. They do have a few salads on the menu. My favorite are the battered chicken strips and a salad. I've learned to order the kiddie size or to ask for a to go box. I didn't see any vegetarian or vegan selections on the menu and I didn't ask, so someone let me know if they have any. Overall I'd give this four stars, but for their (lack of ) Covid protocol, the (lack of) cleanliness in the bathroom. Prices are average for the area - about fifteen to twenty bucks will take care of one meal and a drink. read more

Took the family to Cracker Barrel yesterday (August 22,24). Seven of us in total. We have been coming here for about 20 years now but sadly won't be back.. Eggs were cold, Gravy was cold, Biscuits were cold and burnt on the bottom. Sausage did not even taste like sausage. Pancakes were ok but that is best I can say. Most of us left hungry!! Some days you just need a homey plate of food to simplify life! That's what CB delivers. From the wonderful fun country store where you can find anything in the world with a rooster and several different butter rum candies to the dining room where there are games on all the tables and reasonably priced GIANT portions of food. It's a wonderful spot. Day after Christmas was crazy busy at the CB. Nobody wanted to cook after the holiday but wanted to come to celebrate I imagine. There was about a 30 min wait to be seated. Then a 30 min wait for food to come out. Our server was incredibly apologetic and explained staffing was struggling with the sheer numbers of guests. I have never seen servers hustle like we did. And I had a view of the kitchen and there was not rest for the cooks either! Even with it being slammed she made sure to bring us our a salad (one of my sides) because she could tell we were HUNGRY. Our coffee and tea were filled regularly. We were proactive and let her know what we needed so not to run her. I saw so many peoples leaving their tables a mess for the ONE bus boy to tackle. Please clean up after your children people!! So we helped there too. Alex was an amazing server and I hope she has a wonderful rest of the holiday season. The food is comfort! My wife had been craving Chicken n Dumplings and she was so happy. It came out a little less than hot but we chalked that up to the businesses of the kitchen. She kept saying the dumplings were like her grandmas. She is Team cut dumplings in strips not balls so CB passed muster! I had the shrimp plate and it was just what I wanted. CB really seals the meal with sides. We had carrots witn the chicken n dumplings, fried apples and a house salad with my shrimp. Hush puppies and biscuits between us too. All of this with drinks was under $35!?! And we brought home food. I want to shout out the hostesses. They were so smart with staggering tables to help servers and the kitchen. They were getting mobbed in the country store. But they kept their cool! The managers have a great team who handles a crazy stressful day like champs. read more

I can't say we have ever been in a Cracker Barrel when we didn't have to wait a bite for a table, and that is fine. However, when the managers are not paying attention to the fact that the only other family style restaurant in town closes at 3:00pm on Sunday afternoon and they don't schedule accordingly that is ridiculous! The manager stood in the kitchen doorway and never even acknowledged us standing at the hostess desk. Then the fact there were 7 tables in view that were sitting dirty. The place was a mess even the restrooms! When a young lady finally came up to the desk she acknowledged that "they were short staffed and the managers weren't helping" her words. Even the server, when she finally showed up, was talking about the managers not doing anything to help the 3 servers for the whole restaurant. We were even told that there was only one cook, so our order is going to take a while. There were 6 of us and 2 were children. Even with all that, the food was still good. If you can overlook bad management and a staff that doesn't respect them because of it. It is Cracker Barrel, so the food is almost always good! The menu never fails to deliver favorites. The prices are always low. The parking lots are always large. Finally, the country charm always flows through it's veins, oozing a throwback to a better, simpler time. We were a group of 6, and seated immediately. When she finally came, she acted as though she didn't know what her job was. Gave her our order and waited 30 minutes on our food. She never checked on us once during our wait. We've been to Cracker Barrel plenty in the past and usually love it. Went a couple weeks ago and was not impressed, to the point that I don't even want to come back. The food took forever, even though the restaurant itself wasn't busy. I have a 4 year old and 1.5 year old and they were getting antsy because they were hungry and starting to get tired. The food was bland with no flavor. I ordered French toast, it had no powdered sugar or anything on it. The syrup made it bearable. I also ordered egg whites with cheese. The waitress handed me the plate, stating that she put the cheese on herself, it wasn't melted, just sitting on top of the eggs and the eggs mostly consisted of the crispy edge stuff that forms when you fry an egg (I don't know how else to describe it). I think our waitresses name was Lori. Was not impressed by her at all. Like I said, the restaurant was not busy but she couldn't hear anything we said so we had to keep repeating ourselves, pretty much yelling for her to hear our order. read more
