I have been traveling through Missouri and was reading some of the comments on Yelp from others and was concerned that we may not be satisfied with eating here. Unfortunately many customers just give low ratings. This Cracker Barrel was packed (always a good sign to me). We were seated fast and service was great. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. Came in for Anniversary, was told about 10-15 minute wait. Gave name, number in party and phone number. Stayed near the desk to hear them call. After 25 minutes and seeing two parties after us get called, and their phones got notifications, we asked. Were told they both called name and number given...oddly no text and we never heard anything close to our name for a party of four. Best offer was to put us back on the list to wait. No thanks. At best, they failed to list name correctly, # in party, and took phone number down wrong. If all you want to do is stand around perusing their overpriced gift shop, this is your place. We went down the street to Applebee's and were seated in 5 minutes. Choose wisely. read more

Three stars, all for the store and sparkling clean bathrooms. I understand why Cracker Barrel is such a popular place to stop during long trips. The audiobook program alone makes it worth a stop. Buy the first audiobook on your trip, and then simply exchange them (for a very small fee) at any other Cracker Barrel as you drive. Brilliant! I will never understand why it is a popular destination for any other purpose. This location sits next to a Comfort Inn with a full complimentary breakfast. We are here for dinner one night, and were sorry that our hotel did not also offer dinner. Cold food, haphazard service, and a general feeling of "meh" had us shaking our heads by the end of our meal. We have stopped at a few other Cracker Barrel restaurants since this visit, so now know that the food is nothing we want, but that service is sometimes better. The main thing we took from this experience is that we should stop to stretch our legs, but not our bellies. read more

I tried chicken n dumplings, Mac n cheese and the cornbread with a side of shrimp and hush puppies, the food was not the best but the service made it worse. The lady at the billing was very rude to me (maybe cause of my race, am not sure) but was very polite with my friends who were American. I swiped my credit card to pay, and I was unsure if the payment went through, so I was gonna ask her that when she grabbed the card off my hands (post-pandemic situation and people are wearing masks) and swiped it the other way. I didnt realize I was charged twice at that moment. I tried to move out so my friends could make their payment, but she moved them to another counter and very loudly said that I shouldn't try to leave or get off there as if I was trying to escape without paying. I felt so bad cause people all over the place were staring at me like I did something wrong and I was shocked. Then I realize she charged me double and this other lady came , reverted the payment and explained the issue. That fact that she said that and humiliated me publicly instead of saying she charged me double and is gonna try and fix it was simply disgusting and I would not like to go there again or recommend people to go there as it is. Food was awful. Grits are sloppy and disgusting. Pancakes and everything else lacks flavor and seasoning. Sausage and pork chops were simply thrown in a cheap pan and overcooked. Our waiter never came to see us, we waited 1 hr for our food. My husband's burger didn't have a bun and when they gave him one, it felt like it just came out of the freezer. My eggs had shells in them, my sausage was dry. My son burger was barley cooked. read more

It IS a chain. That said, you WILL find some pretty good food here with great service. 4. It's NOT your grandmas cooking (see #3), but they do a great job on some old recipes (like chicken & dumplings). 5. Try their killer desserts! 6. Go ahead and check out their "Country Store". We came in a big group of around 50 and the service was nice up until my table had to wait over 40 min for food while the people who ordered way after us had gotten their food first. I was on a college trip, so our group was on a scheduled itinerary, which meant less time to eat. By the time our table had gotten food, our whole group was already back on the bus ready to go. I was only given 5-10 minutes to eat which was not enough. The only good thing that came out of this visit was the good food. Food was barely warm butter crushed into pancakes bc they were not hot enough to melt the butter. Had to put butter under the pancakes to get it to melt. We asked for what type of soup was available never got an answer. Ask for extra butter twice but it didn't melt anyway. My wife got the wrong eggs and the waitress knew it and thought it would be ok. Had to ask several time for anything ( coffee, water) waitress was not attentive and 1:2 the tables were empty. I won't go back to this cb. read more

We picked a new Cracker Barrel location for our annual post-camping/float trip weekend brunch. Same menu - same decor - different location. This review will not vary much from my previous review for the Fenton location. The service and food were just fine. We enjoyed a barrage of breakfast items and all were very tasty and fulfilling. I am always a fan of the chicken fried chicken, biscuits, and white gravy. You simply cannot go wrong with that breakfast combo. I can do without the grits, though. Either way - another Cracker Barrel experience is in the books. read more

We ate here on a cross-country trip, and the meal was decent - nothing to rave about, but enjoyable as a hot comfort-food road meal. The chicken and dumplings was fairly bland, but tasted fine - good for a sensitive palate. Our son (age 4) loved the macaroni and cheese. The salads were fresh and crisp - actually much better than I've come to expect from roadside chains. Read on for color commentary of the Sullivan, MO location: As the rocking chairs and country music greeted us with a familiar welcome, we knew we were among friends. Having just been to a cracker barrel for lunch, it was time for another safe and tasty road trip meal. Generally you only go to a cracker barrel once, but you always know where everything is anyways. We got to the dining room and had a different experience, however. We were greeted by a waitress who offered to grab our drinks, and 5 minutes later our real waitress, Honey showed up to take drink orders again. We explained they were already on the way, and continued to review the menu. After making our selection, honey went off with our order. The time for the food to come out of the kitchen was fine, so there wan't much of a wait for us. However, Honey's other patrons were confused as to where their food was. It was at this point that my drink had been empty for about 10 minutes, and I was hoping to flag her down for some barbecue sauce and honey. I had neglected to specify a dipping sauce for my chicken tenders, though it was never offered and she promptly ran off after serving our food before I could get a word in edgewise. After a bit, I made eye contact with who seemed to be the manager and made a gesture hoping to get someones attention. She didn't move from where she was standing, but did talk into her walkie talkie. After a while, Honey appeared again from the kitchen area and brought another patron something, walked around us onto the other side, and disappeared again. Eventually, the table behind us flagged down a different server to inquire as to the whereabouts of their food. That eventually prompted Honey to appear again and serve them. As she flew towards the kitchen again, I managed to flag her down for my sweet tea refill and condiments. She apologized for the wait, and explained there were only two servers and things were hectic. The food overall was good, everything you'd expect from cracker barrel, so it's the service that makes the distinction. There were approximately 12 patrons, so that's 6 tables between the two of them. I can appreciate that being a lot to handle. But I'm only left to wonder, if it's so busy why was so much time spent in the kitchen area? Why did I only see the manager standing around? Typically, if a manager knows they are short-staffed they go around and do the easy tasks like filling drinks, getting condiments, and thanking patrons for their patience. read more

First off, lets remember, this is a cracker barrel. You don't go to cracker barrel expecting a five star restaurant experience. They serve good home-style cooking at reasonable prices. Sometimes service is faster than others and sometimes food is better than others. This was a stop for us on a cross country wedding trip. Needed a place to get out of the car and eat some grub. I wanted to order off the healthier option menu but told that would take an extra 15-20 minutes so what other choice did I have but to order chicken fried chicken. It was tasty, and juicy. Gravy was really good and who doesn't like a biscuit with a little honey or strawberry jam? All of our parties meals were equally good - nothing to write home about but much better than many other places along the highway. Only reason 3 stars rather than 4 is the healthy option disappointment. read more

We again stopped here for breakfast while on the road headed home. Upon entering we were greeted with friendly hellos from the country store staff. Hostess sat us immediately and server Amber took our order. My husband and I are on a low carb diet so we ordered the double meat breakfast. We requested to substitute tomato slices for no biscuits, gravy and grits. We were told we would be charged extra. I had forgotten this was the only Cracker Barrel that up charges for tomato slices. $2.19 for two thin slices of tomatoes is a bit pricey and really uncalled for. We expected better from Cracker Barrel, since we travel quite a bit and always look for Cracker Barrels to stop at. Aside from being ridiculous with their tomato slice "rules" the walls and pictures on the walls in the eating area were filthy, fingerprints, dust, food and drink splatters covered everything. Very unappealing to look at while eating and very disrespectful to the pictures and antiques on those walls. This Cracker Barrel we will no longer be visiting, Denny's or IHOP will be a better choice. read more

I suspect this CB does not come close to CB standards. Very dirty men's bathroom reeking of urine and scattered trash. Entry door was scummy and smeared with fingerprints, etc. There were four people in our group. One meal of chicken breast was fried to dark brown, very oily and batter was mushy. It must have been prepared earlier as the meat was on slightly warmed. Mashed potatoes bordered on "cold." An order of pancakes were visibly burned black and we were surprised the waiter served them. When asked to take them back there was not an apology so we asked to take them off the bill. Generally, most CBs have friendly helpful staff....but not this one. Everything was purely transactional. We should not have been surprised when the restaurant was less than half full at 11:30am. We are taking this CB off our list as we travel on I-44. Bottom line, the food was bad and the staff needs some training to pay attention to their customers....and basic sanitation was not reached. I actually hate to give a bad review but this one is deserved without question. read more

On August 9, 2020 we were traveling from Reeds Spring, MO to St. Louis, MO for a doctors appointment on 8/10/2020. At 4:48 PM pulled into the parking lot for Cracker Barrel for supper located at the 225 Exit on Interstate 44 for supper. As soon as we parked the hail started to fall, we went to the gas station next door to get out of the weather. At 4:55 we went back to Cracker Barrel. We went inside and was seated very quickly. The four of us placed our orders approximately 5:10 PM. My in-laws and wife ordered breakfast meals and since I am diabetic I ordered a salad with French dressing. Over the next hour we asked where I meal was three times and the waitress (Ashley) said it would be right out. Finally at 6:22 PM the meals were brought out and I said to make sure the food was not cold. The waitress placed the breakfast meals first and then she gave me my salad with no dressing. She then told me that they only had three dressings available, which I could not stand any of them. I told her to take the salad away, that I did not want it or anything else. I then made a comment that it took over an hour to get our meals and then they could even let me know they could not complete my meal. The waitress made a comment that the ticket showed 20 minutes for prep. I said no way and told her she was lying. The waitress then held our ticket for the manager to make an adjustment and he would be out to talk with us in a few minutes. After 15 minutes waiting on the manager we said we had to go and just give us the ticket. We did not see the manager at this time. When my mother-in-law was paying the ticket she told the cashier that this was the worst service we had ever gotten at a restaurant. The cashier said she could get a manager out there to talk with us and I told her we were on the road and had to get going. Another girl behind the counter said the cashier was trying to help and quit yelling at her. I was not yelling and I told her to mind her own business. She then talked to the manager on a radio saying I was being "hostile" to her, which I wasn't. The manager was there in less than a minute to confront us. I have been going to cracker barrels across the country as I travel a lot and usually have a pleasant experience but this one was just horrible. We waited 50 minuites for our food after ordering and waited about 20 just to be seated. The only thing I can compare this experience to is the time when I got my belt stuck in the garbage disposal. read more

Of course the food was great as always but what impressed me even more was the way this crew works together! The manager grabbed a rag and started wiping down a couple of tables. I'm always impressed when I see a manager jump in and help out in that way! A lady a table over spilled her drink and the waitress was cleaning up and the passing waitress stopped to help. She was so truly kind- which is a breath of fresh air just getting into town on a road trip from Chicago. Very disappointing experience. We are from Arizona so we have been on a very long journey and wanted to sit down and eat some good food. Initially we were told that there would be a 15-20 minute wait. After 30-40 minutes our name was still not called. The hostess explained they got our parties name confused with another and they would seat us. We got the table and ordered our food. Our server- I believe her name was AJ- was rude. Not friendly, didn't fill up water glasses- didn't come in and check in on us. We ordered the BLT sandwich, a breakfast brunch special and 2 orders of fried chicken. I understand fried chicken takes a while but after nearly an hour- we were fed up. We spoke to the manager who explained that three dishes were ready and waiting for who knows how long and they were waiting on the final order of chicken. The waitress was MIA the entire time. After another 10 minutes she brings us our three food orders that had been ready for a long time to the point where the chicken BLT bun was so soggy I couldn't eat it, and we were given the wrong sides. The waitress was extremely rude and unapologetic and wouldn't correct the errors she made with our order. We spoke to the GM and for free coupons for 4 new meals but received no refund for the $40+ we spent on soggy, slow staff and extremely disrespectful service. Truly shocked this server is allowed to be an employee after her behavior. Wouldn't recommend stopping here. Do so at your own risk. read more

Went here last night after waiting 35 minutes for our no show order at another local restaurant. Seated immediately by a very friendly hostess. Greeted by a very pleasant server within a short amount of time. Placed our order, which was served quickly and was hot and delicious. Very nice experience overall! read more
