We stopped into Cracker Barrel for an easy breakfast this morning. It was super busy but we were able to get sat right away. I had to pull my friend away from the gift shop. Of course after our meal we were going to have to check everything out. Kayley took care of us today. She got coffee and sweet tea started for us. We were waiting for my friend's daughter to pop up. Kayley was patient with us a we were waiting. After our last part of our party showed up, we got food started, drinks topped off and hung out while food was being prepared. For breakfast today I got the Old Timers breakfast. And boy it looked great! My eggs were cooked perfectly, over medium. My bacon was nice and crispy. My hashbrowns were golden brown but on the colder side. It would have been not to have them on the warmer side. I was given two biscuits and a huge helping of country gravy. My favorite will always be country gravy on top of my hashbrowns. After breakfast we went and checked out the gift shop. I love all the Christmas decor everywhere. I appreciate that they have a little bit of everything here. I bought my husband a really nice camo sweatshirt and I got a nice U of U sweatshirt as a souvenir. As always, Cracker Barrel continues to astound on a consistent basis. No matter the city, no matter the occasion, I can always find a great meal served by competent and attentive folks in an environment that just feels like home. I finally tried the Biscuit Benny here and I'm wondering why it never crossed the table before now. That's one fire dish that gives the traditional two or three egg breakfast a run for its money. I guess it's because I tend to stay away from Benedicts like I tend to stay away from Omlettes. It's just usually not what I want. But this is one of the memorable ones. The double chocolate fudge coca-cola cake is something that will never go out of style. It will never die, it will never surrender; it will just keep coming back with every meal eaten here like The Terminator. The wait to be seated was over 10 minutes. No one came yo the hostess desk at all. The front cashiers did not offer help although there were 3 persons standing there. I was seated and attended by the only waitress for that area. She did her best to serve every customer in a timely manner. I asked for waffles and they were all out of waffles. My food was not the quality I expected from Cracker Barrel. The waitress did serve me with a delay on bringing other items I requested. Another waitress happened to walk by. As w called for her she quickly said she could not help and I had to wait for my waitress to bring the check. I again waited longer. The restaurant seems poorly run with little staff to serve the needs of the customer base. I will definitely not return to this location. Early morning breakfast meet led me to Cracker Barrel. It was a packed house. I loved that they seated us without our whole party being there. This made for an easy walk in experience. The hot chocolate was delicious, dark chocolate with whipped topping. The old timer's breakfast was huge! Great portions all around. Eggs, bacon, breakfast casserole and biscuits and gravy were all part of the meal. Others on the table ordered the French toast and cinnamon rolls and the fried apples and pancakes. Haven't been here in 20 yrs but it looks the same as I remember, in a good way! Every person who worked there greeted us and was very friendly. We were sat promptly. Our server Meli was excellent. She was efficient and friendly. I got the Tue special, chicken fried pork chops w/mashed potatoes and brown gravy and turnip greens as my sides. Pan gravy was on the pork chops and they were absolutely delicious! Crispy, JUICY and so savory. The potatoes were thick, buttery and a lil chunky. Perfection. My husband got the chicken fried chicken w/mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. He loved the breading on his chicken so much lol! Also, the half and half lemonade/sweet tea was so good! Things started out rough, the hostess that seated us was irritated and rude, the waiter was attentive and polite, our orders came, the chicken fried chicken, everything appeared normal, but when I attempted to cut into mine, it was raw, not undercooked, but raw batter and raw chicken. The waiter took it back and they brought another order, at this point I was hesitant, my wife's order was fine, the waiter said he'd adjust the ticket for the mistake but it didn't happen. There were about 10 total customers in the restaurant when we got here. We sat for 10 minutes before anyone came to greet us once we were seated. Our food took a long time to come out. When our food finally came it was cold. My scrambled eggs were under cooked. They were not edible. They didn't bring syrup for my pancakes. Nothing was done to compensate us. My first time at a Cracker Barrel! And... it was fine. It was mostly tasteless on account of nothing was salted which is something I haven't experienced with a breakfast fast casual chain. The hash browns were cooked perfectly but again were a let down without any salt. Same for the biscuits under the eggs Benedict which were probably the worst part of the meal. Floury and flavorless. Surprisingly, the fruit cup on the side was fantastic. Fresh fruit, very ripe and tasty. Food aside, the service was solid. We got everything quickly and had our coffees refilled as needed. I was in the area to run a marathon and came here for dinner the night before the race. When I arrived, I was promptly greeted and seated at the other end of the restaurant. Unfortunately, I was seated next to a table where one of the ladies was hacking up a lung each time she coughed. Hopefully, I don't catch what she has (I didn't). Per the usual, I ordered their Country Boy Breakfast with steak tips, eggs sunny-side up, okra, and grits. I got an unsweetened iced tea to go with my meal. We absolutely love Cracker Barrel we go whenever we can because we don't have one close to us where we live. we went to the one in West Valley Utah today. first of all there was only three of us and they sat at a table for eight. It took our waitress Consuelo 15 minutes to show up with water and the restaurant was fairly empty so it's not like they were busy . When we placed our order it was a fairly simple order and yet she messed up all three. My son asked for brown gravy and got white gravy was supposed to get cornbread she never brought it I asked for a smoked barbecue stack Burger which should have had onion straws on it she delivered that Burger to my other son and had no onion straws on it then she gave me my son's Burger which should have been a cheeseburger with no cheese on it. Never refilled our water glasses and only checked on the table once where we reminded her that she forgot my son's corn bread. Was particularly disappointed this time hopefully we'll have better neck next time at a different location. read more

I went on a Saturday night at 7pm on 5/24. 1. Poor system for payment. You scan a QR code and it doesn't give you the option to even tip! If it's there, it is not user friendly at all! Feel bad for the waitstaff who are working so hard. The QR code doesn't work very well, we had to scan it multiple times. Still didn't work, asked if we could pay upfront and the waitress told us that we could only use the QR code. Not everyone has a smart phone, so it's weird that it was the only option of payment. Especially since Cracker Barrel typically has a geriatric crowd and technology for some older people can be difficult. Maybe the employees didn't want to manually take payment or something? I definitely would not recommend this place to my grandparents. 2. We had a large group of over 20 people. We had two people who were running behind. They wouldn't seat us until the whole party was there, so we all crowded the front and blocked exit and entrance for all other customers. The hostess was very insistent that we absolutely could not be seated. We had about 8 kids or so. 3. A lady in our party ordered a soup. Everyone received their food except for this one lady, after she asked about her food.. They told her that they were out of what she ordered and that she had to wait for them to make her something different. She declined and didn't even end up eat.. 4. I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel since I moved to Utah, almost 5 years! In fact I think the last time I went was probably 10 years ago in Florida. This West Valley location did not disappoint! A friend called me and asked if I wanted to meet up with another mutual friend for brunch. This is a great spot for a brunch as the breakfast is all day and plenty of savory lunch items. Also a great place to meet up as it is freeway close. The hostess stand was prompt to help, but we saw our friend had a table already. Our server showed up with menus right after we sat down and was very nice. I got the Hashbrown Casserole Shepard Pie, which was kind of a pot roast pie with carrots and peas, gravy, mash potatoes on the bottom with crispy hash browns on top, in a skillet The nice server lady highly recommended it and she was not wrong. The pot roast chunks were very tender and tasty. It was delicious and filling. I took about half of it home. I forgot about Cracker barrel but it was really good! Better than I remembered. Oh yes I should mention that the server came up as we got near the register and thanked us for the nice tip, as it was the first of her shift. I don't remember that ever happening in a restaurant before! They have a distinct decor and it is the same type of interior and ambiance as any Cracker Barrel I have visited. This was Labor Day and they already had a Christmas Tree near the entrance, wow! Pretty early, but a good idea to get the jump on gift purchases I guess. The whole front is a gift shop and you sort of wait in that area to pay your bill. They seem to have unique Americana type snacks and merch which you may only find in place like this. Most people probably snag a few things as they work towards the register. I'll go back, I saw it on my way to an appointment on the other side of the freeway last week. Today I needed a bit of map help from my phone to reach it properly. It is right near the Maverik Center. Easy once you have been there. No gripes about this visit at all. It's been a long time since I've been to Cracker Barrel, but my visit today reminded me that I should be coming here more often Price wise, it's probably one of the most affordable full service restaurants out there. Literally the most expensive thing on their menu is like $15. However, the low price does come at a bit if a "price" ha. The food quality, ranges from just okay to good (at least from the things I've ordered). In my experience, I'd suggest staying away from the fried fish. The absolute best thing on their menu is their regular pancakes. They are super sweet and have a slight crunch around the edges of them. Today I ordered one of their new plates, which came with chicken strips, shrimp, and bits of steak. Of the three, the steak was the best, and the chicken I could have done without. The only reason I give 3 stars instead of 4 is because when I ordered, I asked our waiter what the side "has brown casserole" entailed. And he rudely just said "well hasbrowns". I then asked what "dumplins" were and he said "they dumplins". And I had to pry out of him what dumplins actually are (apparently noodles in sauce? Never would have guessed that). He was then just super snappy so I just said, "surprise me with the second side". He came back purposely with the worst one, a bowl of mushed greens. And he even said as he handed them to me "I don't know why anyone would eat those". I realize it's not the waiters job to know what I'd like, but I wouldn't ever think that they would purposely get something that even they think is gross, and then admit it! (Btw, I made it a point to eat those mushy greens before I touched anything else. And they taste like I'd imagine the grass shavings from a lawn mower would) Overall though, if you're looking for a good and inexpensive place to take out the family, you can't go wrong with Cracker Barrel, as long as you get a good waiter/waitress. read more

Waited 30 min to be sat so I took advantage of the free time and browsed the country store. Bought a cute tshirt and ornament. Once sat I waited a cool 10 min before my server took my drink order and she was quick to take my order because clearly she was in a position to rush me lol. She even got buddy with me. So I've never ever been to a Cracker Barrel before, but my husband has crazy nostalgia for it as he grew up on the east coast. We were staying at the Crystal Inn across the street, so it was just a really convenient choice for breakfast the day before we were flying back to CA. I'm usually not a HUGE fan of American Breakfast, but this place really surprised me! Our order: chicken fried steak with a side of chicken dumplins and mac n cheese, peach tea, and an order of pancakes. Total $27 for 2 people and we were STUFFED and didn't finish all the chicken fried steak. Pros: - A LOT of food for what you're paying, quantity is a big hit. - the peach tea was delicious (it's probably bad for you but tastes SO good) - I was a big fan of the chicken dumplins, it kind of reminded me of the asian dumplings I eat at home but more savory - Great mac n cheese - fun little store in the beginning waiting area to keep you occupied while you're waiting - classic white rocking chairs outside - biscuits were perfect Cons: - can be a long wait because it's so popular - I think a lot of big families like eating here because it's affordable (like a 40 min wait on Sunday morning for party of 2) - Service was I would say 3+/5 - they were super kind every time they interacted with us but you could just tell that some of the workers aren't that into it, it's a little slow sometimes (but really not bad in our case as we weren't in a rush). - Chicken fried steak wasn't great, I would get something else next time OVerall, loved the savory sides! read more

Capri was very attentive and personable. The food was wonderful. She was very welcoming and friendly to my friend with special needs. There was music at just the right volume, subtly audible. The rest of the staff were friendly and cheerful upon arrival and exit. The French toast was nice and crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The breaded chicken was seasoned well and flaky. The blueberry pancakes were wonderful too. I can see how people might complain about the lack of salt in some things, like the pot pie, but I also understand that some people are on sodium restricted diets. In my opinion, expecting an entire menu to conform to one's pallet is unrealistic at best, and infantile at worst. For the record: the flavor of the pot pie and the crust was perfect, after salting it to my taste it was delicious. Now if something comes out wrong and you let them know, and they take care of it, why leave a crappy review? These things happen. Additionally, salt and pepper are provided at no cost. If you are expecting gourmet, and eating at the Cracker Barrel, perhaps you cannot afford the finery you feel entitled to, because the budget prices you find here are indicative of a more old country diner and less Michelin star. This has been one of my usual places. I've loved to go not only for the food but also just to mosey around the gift shop. On the 26th of September at 11:30 it was a Friday which we normally never do. But circumstances pushed to this day.. I ordered a chicken fried steak and my friend ordered the hash brown casserole. When they brought that casserole was mortified. The top was burned black. I tried to get her to send it back.. but she chose to push the stuff aside and hoped that the underside would be better. My chicken fried steak the gravy was solid and medium warm and the steak was dry.. I can honestly say in all the times I've ever eaten there that had to be the absolute worst meal. and as a server I would've never brought that stuff to the tables. It would've been embarrassing.. I don't know if you've changed cooks and hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come because I really hate giving up Cracker Barrel for Home style cooking even the little hash brown thing that I ordered as a side was dry. one thing I did enjoy was the fried apples they were wonderful and good as always. Delicious meal and excellent service. When we arrived, they made us wait for half an hour. During the wait, we walked around the store and there is an option to wait outside and sit on the rocking chairs. The store has interesting items and is worth browsing. Layout and decor looks exactly the same as other Cracker Barrels, and the country decor is interesting to me since I'm from California and there are almost no Cracker Barrels there. I like how they cook fish; grilled rainbow trout and catfish were delicious and seemed healthy. My family said the roast beef was somewhat too salty. Cheesy hash browns, fresh fruit, and fried apples are good sides. Fried apples are basically cooked cinnamon apples. We enjoyed our meal and we will definitely come back the next time we are in Salt Lake City. read more

We needed a spot for our self-contained Class B motor home for the night. After Walmart told us we couldn't stay, Cracker Barrel said we were welcome. It was nice and quiet and a few others came along after us. We had a delicious breakfast the next morning. My Companion from Canada had never been to a Cracker Barrel and really enjoyed the whole experience. It had been too long for me and since we're snowbirds, we intend to visit them as much as possible. The Service was excellent too. read more
