I took my family to this Kent Island restaurant and the food was the worst I've ever eaten. My wife ordered the sirloin asked for one temperature and it came out the opposite she asked for broccoli as one of her side never got it she got corn In which it looked like it came from the bottom of the pan. I got the roast beef and it was two small pieces of meat floating in half gravy and half oil got the mashed potatoes same thing as the gravy they said the macaroni and cheese was very good and that was a joke I don't think I will be coming back to this restaurant. Just an fyi I was in the restaurant business for 25 years and I do understand that it's not always a good night but I have never seen this. read more

We went here for lunch today and were very disappointed. The hostess was very friendly, and the cashier that rung us up when we left was fine. However, our waitress was horrible and the food was disappointing. My husband was looking forward to trying the heavily advertised fried chicken. While he said it was not bad, it was not overly impressive. It lacked seasoning. In addition, his sides of macaroni and cheese and green beans were both very watery. I ordered the chicken and dumplings and had mac & cheese for my side as well. The chicken and dumplings, which I have had before and are usually very thick and creamy, were also very watery. My macaroni and cheese was just as watery as his. Our waitress was absolutely horrible. She neglected to bring our corn bread, which comes with the meals. The one time she actually stopped at our table long enough to ask us a question and hear the answer, she offered me a refill of my iced tea, while my glass was still full. Meanwhile, my husband had finished his drink and she did not ask him if he wanted a refill at all. He never got a refill. She never asked us how our meal was, and she gave every other table in her section far better service. She brought them refills without even asking, and all of them received their bread. The one time she asked how things were going, she didn't even stop when she asked, and kept walking. So, even if we had tried to respond she did not stick around long enough to hear it. It was clearly a rhetorical question. It was very obvious that we received far inferior service from her and than the rest of her tables. She was incredibly proactive and friendly with all of them. She brought us our bill while we were still in the middle of our meal and never asked us if we wanted anything else. It was as if she was in a rush for us to leave. There was only one difference between us and the rest of her customers. We will likely not return. read more

If you have never been to a Cracker Barrel, you need to go. The little store out front is always fun to browse. We usually purchase some hard-to-find candy (old-fashioned brands) or other trinkets. The food is southern cooking - if you like that, this is your place. I happen to love southern cooked vegetables and they have them all here! When you are stuffed after dinner, you can go out on the porch and sit in the rocking chairs for a while. Such a fun place to go. I wish they had them out West. read more

It started off OK and went downhill fast as our server ignored our table completely when she got a table of 8. We placed our order, finished our drinks, place the empty glasses to the server side of the table. She never got us refills. She stated the squash casserole was not available and wasn't sure if they were going to make more. She asked for an alternative side and would find out the status of the squash and never returned with an answer. The food runner delivered what food they had and left us with no drinks. So, now the food is getting cold since we have no drinks. I had to get up and ask the hostess to get someone to refill our drinks. The manager finally removed the empty glasses after the food runner delivered the food and didn't remove the empty glasses. Later in the meal the server finally checked on us and we still had not gotten our one side dish, which she completely forgot. Upon giving us the dish she gave us the bill and still had the extra costing side still on the bill. When I finally chased down the manager, who was doing curbside delivery, he acted at first like he wasn't going to do anything about the bill but take the one dish off. It wasn't until I explained how many times I had to get up from the meal and serve myself that he finally cut the bill in half. Then the manager says, "I will have a talk with the server once I figure out who it is". I then pointed out in the upper corner of the bill, the server's name is printed right on the bill. In short, the manager is either not good or spread too thin and the wait staff is new or clueless. Save your time and go somewhere else. read more

My family and I love Cracker Barrel so this is not feedback on them as a whole. This feedback is specific to this Location. We've been to many locations in different states and have always loved everything about our experience. Today was the first time we were all disappointed. Our food was not hot, some of the items did not taste freshly made, my actual plate did not look clean, the biscuits were rock hard, beignets were raw in the middle. I know I say this every time I review a chain, but: "I normally don't review chains." When I think about that, though, maybe it's best if we DO review chains as much as we do the local craft places. We eat at chains for a reason: we have an expectation going on. Nobody goes to a McDonald's or Starbucks and doesn't know what to expect inside. That being said, I'm sure you have the same expectations I would going into a Cracker Barrel. I'm happy to report those were met at this location as well. PROS: * The food is exactly what you'd expect, which is 'down-home country vittles,' made in the old fashioned way. Hot flaky biscuits, tender chicken 'n dumplings, savory country ham... Just plain old solid country food. * Hot foods come out hot, cold foods come out cold, and your glass is rarely empty (if your beverage is refillable of course). * The place is always busy, so the turnover in ingredients is likely very quick. That means you're almost guaranteed everything has been delivered in the past 24-48 hours, and items made in house are about as fresh as you can get. * The wait staff is fast and efficient, and generally very friendly. CONS: * Because the place is super-busy frequently (Sunday, all day crowds), you will probably have to wait for a bit for a table. Our 20-25 minute wait this last visit ended up being about 30-35 minutes instead. * Both the hostess and name-taker were so not there... just going through the motions with no interest at all in the world around them (including the customers). * A three-egg breakfast was delivered as a two-egg breakfast. The ordering party did not bring this to anyone's attention, however, and there was more than enough food on the table to compensate for it. Still, be cautious that you get what you ordered. OVERALL: The meal was great, and the ambiance was quaint. There was a roaring fire going that day, which is fine given how cold it was outside. It's the little things that make a huge difference. The food was fresh, and I was delightfully satisfied. i absolutely love eating at the cracker barrel. it stirs up many memories from my first year of college when i attended university in the south, where there was a cracker barrel in almost every city! my immediate family of 6 came here for brunch on a cold winter day, seeking warm, comfort food. i wasn't surprised that there was a bit of a wait as this is a very popular restaurant, and well known all over the states. fortunately, we had the cracker barrel country store/gift shop to keep us busy while we waited for a table. we were seated in a corner at a table large enough for 8, so we definitely had space to spread out and order lots of food! we also had mini board games to play while we awaited our meals, which were found on every table in the dining room. i ordered my favourite non-breakfast dish, which was chicken 'n dumplins. the cracker barrel makes this dish the old fashioned southern way, with flour dumplings made from scratch, and served in a thick and creamy chicken broth that has the consistency of gravy. i had not enjoyed this dish in years and it did not disappoint! complementing the meal was of course their signature basket of corn muffins and biscuits, served hot with butter and fruit preserves. as much as i love their muffins and biscuits, i love them even more when dipped into their southern style white gravy! granted this is not the healthiest of meals, with lots of cream and oils, it was lip-smacking delicious and i savored every bite of my dumplings and chicken broth and biscuits and white gravy. i knew that i wouldn't be able to have chicken 'n dumplins and biscuits 'n gravy for quite some time, since i don't live near a cracker barrel, so i made sure to indulge in this fine meal. the service was friendly and definitely reminiscent of southern hospitality. until next time, cracker barrel! maybe i'll see you in california sometime! read more

Sometimes I feel like a southern woman trapped in McKayla Maroney trapped in an Asian man trapped in a cat. This is to say, I like fried chicken, and I contain multitudes. Growing up in my house, the only place we ever got fried chicken was KFC. I used to think dry white meat was the name of the game. Oh, what I was missing... The Sunday dinner special, aka two beautiful pieces of fried boneless chicken breast, was a revelation. Hot, crispy on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside, served with a side of gravy, accompanied by mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese - thinking about it now, I am deceased all over again. I ordered the catfish platter with 2 pieces of fried catfish, hashbrown casserole, fried apples and turnip greens. Of course, I had a glass of lemonade to wash it down. The catfish were fried and seasoned perfectly. The apples were nice and sweet and not at all mushy. The hashbrown casserole was cheesy and had a nice crunch. Everything was absolutely wonderful! After all the beach food, we were ready for some good ole Southern cooking. This Restaurant was very clean and the servers and staff were very friendly and did their job fast. Kept drinks refilled and food came out fast. We had chicken and dumplings, fried catfish, steak fries, baked apples and green beans. Minus one star because the green beans were beyond recognition and at first glance looked like cooked greens like kale or turnip greens, and the bottoms of the complimentary bisquits and corn muffins were very hard. Maybe shouldn't complain about them because they were complimentary , but if its served, it should be the freshest. These seemed like they had been put back in the oven for reheating. Also, the only desserts they offered were apple related except a chocolate coca cola cake and some caramel dessert that had popcorn on it. I would have liked to see more of a selection. But my side of baked apples curbed my sweet tooth. Very reasonable prices. For under 8$ you get a meat and two veggie sides. I wish I would have got the Mac and cheese rather than the mushy green beans but all in all, the food was very good. Would definitely return. read more

I haven't eaten in their dining room since pre-covid. Since covid we have gotten there food to go. Prior to covid, my husband and I would have breakfast here around 2 Saturdays per month. So I have two different ratings. Dining in (pre-covid): 4.5 stars. Servers and hostesses were always very friendly and helpful. For the most part the food was great. Of all the times I've dined in house I only ordered one thing that I didn't like. It was the French toast made by a newly hired cook. When my waitress realized I wasn't eating it she offered to replace it with something else that I would actually eat. To Go (post-covid): 3 stars. The food is still pretty good. My husband's exam pancakes were amazing! The portions seem a lot smaller and not as filling. They also forgot stuff from my order. For example I was sent biscuits and gravy minus the biscuit (not super useful ). I don't think we will be ordering out as frequently as we used to dine in or maybe not at all. I do enjoy the food and service in person, so if you're comfortable with doing indoor dining during the pandemic I would recommend this place. read more

We stopped here to meet the inlaws for lunch so my daughter could spend the week with them. I always like cracker barrel, good good and good prices, and love the store in front of the restaurant. Got a tin of Charles chips. thats worth 5 stars right there!!! But when a restaurant lists that they will cook beef Med, Med-well, and Well done, and you order a chopped steak medium, and your daughter orders a cheeseburger medium well and your chopped steak comes out med-well to well, and the cheeseburger comes out so well and so dry you need to drink something to swallow it. My daughter did not finish it. I took a bite and saw why. I asked her if she wanted me to get them to make her another one and she said no, and good thing because by then, the server was pretty much done with us and was no longer coming to our table to check on us. I will go back again, and will hopefully have better food so I can give a better review because I really do like Cracker Barrel.. read more

I love that they offer many items a la cart to be able to specify what I needed instead of feeling like I am asking the waitress for favors when I want items changed or added to my requests. I'm not usually one to write reviews, especially on a chain restaurant like Cracker Barrel, but after my last experience I felt compelled. Previous visits to this location and all other locations I've been to have been great! I think customer service has always been the best part of Cracker Barrel. The servers are usually so friendly and go out of their way to be nice, polite and very kind. Food at a restaurant can be mediocre but if the service is top notch I don't even mind! Friday night 2/1/19, my husband and I decided to go grab a late dinner at this location, around 745/8pm, not anywhere close to closing time (10pm) We were promptly sat and before I could even get my coat off or sit down, the server came over and very bluntly asked what we wanted to drink. I didn't mind so much considering I always get the same thing, but I felt we were off to a bad start with how quickly he made us order. When he brought our drinks back a few minutes later he asked if we were ready to order. I had literally just opened the menu and hadn't even gotten a chance to look at all. He was very rude and made us feel so rushed. We told him we weren't ready and he walked away. We quickly picked what we wanted, luckily, because he came back about 3 minutes later asking "do you know what you want now?" And we ordered at that point. Our food came out and it was good as usual, no complaints in that department. The restaurant was pretty empty and we were the only table along this section of tables. While trying to enjoy our meal, our server began sweeping under all of the tables surrounding ours. I wouldn't mind except he was obviously doing it as violently as he possibly could. When he cleaned off one of the tables he was slamming the plates and silverware together so loudly. I'm not sure what made our servers day so terrible, but it sucks that he felt the need to take it out on us. We are very nice, polite customers who always treat servers with respect and tip well. We stopped in on a busy Friday morning as we were traveling through. There were 7 in our party and we only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. Waiting wasn't a problem since the have a general store shopping area that we could browse through. They also had rocking chairs and large table checkers to entertain the kids. Our waitress was great with our group. Very patient and attentive. She checked on us several times during our meal which was nice considering how extremely busy they were. The meal came out hot and fresh and no one had any problems. So the staff in the kitchen seemed to be on their game during the busy time as well. I would definitely stop here again given the chance. We patronize at least one Cracker Barrel on each of our trips as we love their good value meals and the Americana nostalgia ambiance. We were disappointed with both the food and service at this location. While my son's chicken fried pork chop was delicious and plentiful, my similarly priced roast beef was dry and the portion was much smaller. There was limited waitstaff as we waited 20 min. to be seated eventhough we observed unused empty tables. The waitress seem distracted, gave our check way before we were done and never came back to see whether we needed a box to take home leftovers. We waited some time and finally just wrapped the leftover biscuits in napkins. read more

This review is based on only 2 visits... and I may be in a minority for not experiencing this place until this point in my life (30's), we just never had this restaurant around me... 1st experience was for breakfast... This is really where the 4 stars come in because it was realllly good I ended up going into the general store and buying a bag of their pancake mix... Yum... the turkey bacon was average and the hash brown casserole was a little too much for me with the pancakes but it was still good. 2nd experience was for dinner while I waited for the Bay Bridge to open due to high winds (was in traffic for 2 hours and I had to pee -- great! I can pee and eat at Cracker Barrel!). I ended up getting the Chicken Fried Chicken (gravy on the side), mac n cheese and coleslaw. The chicken was good, not the best I've ever had, but it was good. With the gravy for me, it would've been too much . But I also don't like my food really mixing so I'm weird like that, even with toppings like gravy. The coleslaw was good - just the way I like it... The mac n cheese was a little disappointing but it was still edible. By a few bites in I did regret I didn't opt for the pancakes instead.... They also give you a biscuit and piece of cornbread; those were good. Overall, the food is mediocre with the exception of the pancakes which are like crack... so good. The staff is very customer service friendly. Overall good experience but going forward I'll stick to the all day breakfast menu. read more
