We're doing a short day trip to Carson City this past weekend and wanted to a new breakfast place. Searching Yelp for breakfast palces in town, Craker Box was one of the first ones to pop up and we gave it a go. Parking was kind of interesting. Cracker Box is at the end of a small shopping center and not sure exactly where to park - a few of the spots in front of some of the other tenants had signs that the spots were just onces we figured out where to park - ended up parking in a spot opposite the store fronts but in the same lot, we were good to go. There was a line to the door with no spots to sit inside. My wife put in our name and were told it would be 10 minutes. I went in to use the restroom while we were waiting and noticed the line and thought it would be longer than 10 minuntes, but sure enough it was about that long and we were seated. We were offered drinks immediately and began to peruse the menu. Pretty typical breakfast menu items. I ended up getting the spinch, bacon, tomatoes and cheese omelot - my wife the bacon and eggs. It was really busy and the kitchen was open and you can really everyone working hard. Service was fine and it was kind of fun people watching and watching the servers work. For a rather small place, it had a number of servers and they all seemed to be helping each other out with the tables. We got our food and it looked delicous and plentiful. I asked for salsa for my omelet and it ended up being pico de gallo and fresh out of the fridge so it was cold. Was hesitant to add it to my omelet - got a real pet peeve about cold eggs - but did anyway because I felt bad about asking for it and not using it. The omelette was delicious. The only negative was that there was strip of bacon inside my omellete instead of chopped up. My wife enjoyed her bacon and eggs - 4 slices of bacon - with eggs cooked perfectly. After ordering, I did notice the specials boards. Next time I will pay more attention to that and probably order from there. Overall it was a fun discovery definitely will be back. Oh btw, as others had noted - bring cash. Noticed the sign shortly after sitting down that they only accept case/checks - so be prepared if you plan on coming. read more

Delicious food! Our table got a tuna melt, patty melt, chili omelette and country fried steak. I think the sourdough bread is homemade. All of it was delicious! The mask mandate is lame and makes no sense but I understand that isn't their fault. read more

Absolutely love this place, been going here since 1998. The place reminds me of the diners of old. Love the food & the guy doing the cooking, Adam & all the servers there. Was there today for my Waffle Benedict which is outstanding, today Adam gave me a little taste of his new creation, Pistachio Black Cherry pancake, OMG, like having dessert before breakfast, Adam's also coming up with new items. I don't understand how they stay in business but obviously people must like them enough. I feel their prices are too high for the cold, noisy atmosphere. I have had some interesting and tasty things there but the serving was so small I just don't go there. Been living here since 1996 and never was impressed enough to keep going back. read more

We come here once a year after we finish the Vegas to Reno off road race. Food is great and the service is better. Will be back next year.

We just had breakfast here! Great food excellent service, portions were large. My wife said they were very generous with the spinach, bacon and cheese in the large omelette. We watched staff make fresh squeezed orange juice several times during our breakfast. I ordered their special( Joe Moore) a 1/2 inch hamburger patty topped with jalapeños, cheese and 2eggs, potatoes and toast. Our friends ordered, both sour dough & key lime pie pan cakes. Also a chicken sandwich. Our coffee cups never got below half cup. This was a very good find, and we will be back read more

Ok, I'll be honest, the snob in me had very little expectation as we walked in to this place for breakfast this morning. We were on our way from Tahoe to the Reno airport with a little time to kill, and found this from some pretty good reviews. As we drove through town, and it got a little less nice as we drove, and then ran into this cinder block building on the corner in a strip mall, we were questioning our decision. But as we walked in, we noticed the obvious locals sitting at the counter (very good sign), and the place was packed at 10:30am. As a restauranteur I knew used to say, " you want to see butts in the seats", and this place had that. The menu is pretty plain, nothing fancy but our family of five had Omelettes, French Toast, and Pancakes and we were all VERY pleasantly surprised. The Linguisa Omelette was fantastic. This Portugese sausage with white cheese, tomatoes and scallions was a unique treat. The French Toast was scarfed down by my picky daughter, and the Pancakes were really, really good, even completely plain. The advertise "to become world famous spuds" on the side, and they were quite good. The crispy ones on the top were the best part! The bacon was perfectly cooked, which is hard to find, and flavorful. Lastly, they make their own salsa, and while it wasn't the best I'd had, at least they make their own and its fresh, which is a big pet peeve of mine! The food took a bit to come out, but was worth the wait, and Sophia, our server was great (and was working on our birthday), efficient and friendly. This place is amazing. We're staying in South Lake and came here because of a recommendation of someone who lives on the East Coast. My husband had the steak and it was cooked perfectly to order, great cut, too. One of the kids had French toast, another had pancakes. I had the kitchen sink omelette. The oj is fresh squeezed. Heard about this place for years and tried it out twice recently for lunch. This is a typical morning diner that opens early and closes by two. First time I had the burger and fries (Bacon and Bleu). Burger was fantastic, but the fries were meh. Good if you like Jack in the box style fries, but didn't do it for me at all. Service was outstanding. Second time I tried the BLT with potato salad. BLT was heavenly, potato salad was a little bland. I want to hit them up for breakfast sometime because while seated at the counter you see all the effort that goes into making their food. Only downside is that they only take cash and I almost never carry enough to have a good meal here! read more

I have never had a bad meal here. It's great for breakfast. Cute little establishment. The customer service could be much much friendlier. They only take cash and yes while they offer an ATM. Honestly the world runs on plastic and it is much less of a hassle to be able to use your debit card and avoid the ATM fees. Can you say wowza!? My husband and I stopped here on our way to Reno for our minimoon. The food was amazing and the hospitality exceeded expectations. We ordered the chicken fried steak and Adam's special. Adam's special was very yummy. A hamburger steak topped with pepper jack cheese, avocado, and eggs. It came with a side of their potatoes which were delicious as well. I'm not a big fan of country fried steak so I didnt have high hopes when my husband offered me a bite. Holy moly was it freaking amazing!! Luckily we usually share plates so I could have more. The gravy was one of the best I've had. Truly 10/10 and definitely worth the stop! read more

Loved this place so much we ate here three mornings in a row during recent trip. Ordered linguica omelette and substituted fresh fruit for potatoes and toast. Friend ordered omelette with the potatoes and toast and the potatoes he said were excellent and the plate was so huge he took over half to go. Only odd quirk was the cash only so just be prepared. Others have mentioned seating being close to others but wasn't that bad. If you want your own closed in booth go to dennys but suffer dennys food. Food for early breakfast was served within 5 minutes and we enjoyed the old diner feel inside. I won't hesitate to eat at cracker box if I'm Carson city again. read more

The first time I went there it was terrible and we thought we would give it a second chance. Well, long story short , it was terrible today also! The Angus steak and eggs that we ordered medium was cooked well done/black and charred & the grilled onions were burnt , and when I tried to send it back, Justine the waitress practically yelled at me and angrily told me that I ate most my plate when in fact I had only eaten my two eggs, toast, & side of avocado. She adjusted the check by taking off only the Patty of meat. I told her this was unacceptable so she sent over her "supervisor" who was Adam the cook. He was also rude, angry, and combative. I told him I would pay for the two eggs I ate and the side of avocado and he said what about the toast? I said don't 2 eggs come with toast and he said no. Whatever. I had to frantically wave someone over to get 1 refill of coffee, which was cold and when it was time to pay we were told they don't take credit cards. We were like what??? They said they take cash and checks to which we also sad what??? Who carries checks around with them anymore? And what business of any quality caliber does not accept credit cards? I asked them what happened to customer service to which he said you don't have to pay for your Angus steak, yet when it was time to pay the bill it was still the full amount minus a couple of dollars. I will try to post a picture of the plate of food that I was accused of eating when I only ate the eggs on toast and you can decide if it looks like I ate all my food like I was wrongly accused Of doing and I cannot believe in this day and age that a customer would be spoken to so rudely. I told them that I write reviews and that I would mention Adam the Cook and Justine the waitress were both extremely mean spirited to both me and my husband. We will never return there and never recommend it to anybody again. With restaurants nearby like LA bakery which is phenomenal, I cannot believe that they are serving such low quality food with such lousy customer service! read more

Clean and comfortable restaurant. Fast and efficient food service. Excellent breakfast especially the home fried potatoes.

Cash only because the owner is too cheap to pay for credit card fees which basically tells me he wont put his customers first. Additionally, mice and mice droppings have been found in the restaurant, on the counters and tables, and around the serving ware, if I recall correctly they were even shut down for a short time. I am sure if you wanted you could find a copy of the public health inspection noting all of this. read more
